We are amazed at how light these are compared to our older ones made by someone else. The light and clarity output is perfect. I have not messed around too much with outdoor/bright light but I bet a hood or sun shade would be enough to see it. The best aspect of this is how light it is and that matters when you are holding a DSLR for hours at a time.

Love this little monitor!! It's not very fancy but for the price, it packs a punch! I feel like I take better shots which the monitor on the camera than I do when I don't use it. It's nothing fancy like I said but it still has a lot of features that videographers can use.

This is a great little monitor for my camera setup, it’s cheap and lightweight, buttons feel sturdy too. Something to note here – this monitor does not come with batteries. Search Amazon for this:
-> FirstPower 2 Pack NP-F970 Batteries and USB Dual Charger for Sony NP-F970 <- Its like the 3rd product down after you search. Hopefully that saves you guys the trouble of wondering what the heck to power the thing with.
I recently purchased the FEELWORLD FW568 V3 6 inch DSLR Camera Field Monitor and I am extremely impressed with its quality and functionality. The monitor is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around while shooting. The Full HD 1920×1080 IPS display is crystal clear and provides accurate color representation, making it easy to monitor footage while shooting. The waveform and LUTs are extremely helpful in ensuring that my footage is properly exposed and color graded. The video peaking focus assist is also a great feature that helps me achieve sharp focus while shooting. The included tilt arm is a great addition and provides flexibility in positioning the monitor. The 4K HDMI and 8.4V DC input/output are also very useful features. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend the FEELWORLD FW568 V3 6 inch DSLR Camera Field Monitor to any filmmaker or videographer looking for a high-quality and versatile field monitor.
When I went searching for a camera monitor for a Canon R7 as my eyes aren’t that great, I was worried that a 6″ might be a little small. As this was (when I bought it one hundred and twenty five bucks US), it was one of the cheapest options going and I really wasn’t expecting much. I just needed to see the frame and to see the setting on the R7. Only problem I had is that the touch screen didn’t work, and from the time I used it I didn’t really see a reason to use it, thought it may work, an annoying screen that said default mode or something like that popped up but disappeared as soon as I turn on the camera to film, and didn’t return after I stopped recording. It had an okay button that I pealed back the plastic to try, and it didn’t work either. But the unit, while not “rugged” (pack and care for it carefully) still appeared to be well made, picture was bright and easy to read in broad daylight, and I used a Canon r7 battery ( I dunno look it up) which in the hour I shot was only down about 25%, so I expect it would work for a very long time. The arm is well made and sturdy, it has a sunshade with affixes very well with velcro, only the monitor case itself is a little flimsy, made of plastic but I think it would take a pretty strong impact to break (think.. I didn’t try to break it). So even with the touch screen not working, I would buy it again, that was the only reason (and perhaps for not having a more ruggedized case) were the only reason for the 4 star rating. In function otherwise, I couldn’t be happier for the price. For me 6″ was perfect for my bad eyes (I give them a two star rating **). Last note, as many are aware, in China anyone can OEM a product with their own logo. I saw the same monitor $25-35$ more through other vendors with perhaps a less lame name.. so to me this was the best deal.
Ottimo monitor low cos
I picked this up because I had some old canon lpe6 batteries I wasn’t using, and for the price thought how could I go wrong. It’s actually a very good screen, with plenty of features. The included mount is not great so I relocated the 1/4 20 mount to the bottom and paired it with a smallrig hot shoe adjustable mount attached to a top handle and it’s much better like that.
It can also be powered by usb c connection from a power bank. So if like me you like using simple cheap power banks instead of v-mounts it works great.
Ottimo
Fedele a livello di colori e molto luminoso, buon rapporto qualit prezzo
Good for the purpose, but the bracket is annoying.
I think the monitor will do the job for which it was intended: larger display view on my video camera. The one change I would suggest is that the bracket holding the monitor doesn’t need to be that tall. If the bend in the bracket were a right angle, the bracket could be made shorter, less intrusive, and you would still be able to rotate the monitor. It would also be less likely to be accidentally moved in use.
I’m guessing this bracket was originally intended for a different monitor, and rather than retool, they just used this one. I will probably make my own bracket…a fairly simple task.
As has been mentioned by someone previously, a 1/4-20 thread on the bottom would be a most useful, welcome addition. The only one is on the side. There are 2 holes on the bottom that will accommodate the 1/4-20 piece, but you have to go through a bit of a process (2 screws) to move it from the side to the bottom. An extra 1/4-20 piece would be a big convenience and add flexibility. I moved mine an now attach the monitor to the camera with a small tilt ball, and it’s much less cumbersome.
Bellissimo
Molto consigliato, ottimo rapporto qualit prezzo
Really nice screen helps with focus and has been an super upgrade from what I use to have (dslr screen) !!! great control and menu options as well

Excelle
Used one before so got my own brilliant for macro photography
I use the video display for a reference monitor for individual cameras connected to a Roland VR-1HD streaming mixer. Two of these displays (1 for each camera) is mounted to the PA system equipment rack to monitor each cameras video before switching to the live stream. The video is spot on. The HDMI pass thru provides continuous video to the streaming mixer. This little display exceeds all expectations.

Great value
Really happy with my order & the presentation of it. Highly recommend this product!
It was a very good experience and it was helpful.
Light weight monitor, but it gets heavy once you put the battery on.
Clear image & everything is working really well.
My only problems, it comes WITHOUT the battery so I had to purchase the batteries separately, and it’s not a touch screen.
Another problem is mounting issues, I needed to mount it to another holder, but I couldn’t, so I had to buy another cage to put it on the right place.
One more problem is when deleting files, it takes forever to view & delete, and I’m using my camera fast during the set so I can delete unnecessary footages right away!
Other than that, everything is good.
Thank you!
I can see so clear and I know 100% what my shorts look like with this. That's something you need to have down when getting paid or spending a lot of time/money to film something. Stoked.

Molto molto bello
it is a onboard camera monitor; very bright, well priced and strong and light. I received the monitor with a liquid leak and the technical department was very kind and helped me solve the problem :)

Just Right for budge
Good little monitor for video shooting tasks, if you are on a budget you can not go wrong with this little beauty. As some really handy features too
Points fort :
Poids et encombrement minime
Batterie Au choix : Sony Npf ou Canon Lpe6
Accessoires
Rapport qualit prix
Inconvnients :
Plastique
Un peu trop lger
Pas de visse 1/4 trs limi
I was skeptical about how well this product would work. Seemed almost to be too many features for too-little cost. Sometimes I love being proven wrong. It works so well I bought two more to mount on my other cameras when doing live streaming. Much better than the standard monitors, especially with the ability to scope and tweak video as we go.

Very accurate picture quality. Battery life is short, needs more than 1 battery to run through a shoot. Also it gets really hot, probably wont recommend if shooting alot in outdoor settings or hot areas.

Great screen, Just cant preview 4k x 60fps
This screen is very good, has strong colours, lots of inbuilt features however I was very disappointed to find out that I could not preview my standard format on it (4k @ 60fps) When I tried it just said “The External display cannot preview at these settings”.
I’ve had to drop to normal HD which isn’t ideal at all.
The first thing I want to say is that the display on this is excellent for the money – I was surprised I could get anything this good for this much. It works brilliantly in my home studio hooked my Sony A7R3, using mains power.
However, you need to consider these things before you buy one:
* no power source is included, so consider this for your total cost. I went mains as I had neither supported batteries. After investigation I found Sony battery packs are huge and heavy, the Canon ones are small and lighter but have limited run time. Mains power is readily available, I got this Kepler 2A unit https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0711FB8WH/ which works great and has a good cable length
* The menu system isn’t fun to use, and it’s not touch screen. The buttons feel cheap too. For this reason, set up your function buttons straight away (particularly if you plan to flip it over
* I needed it as a vlogging monitor, and cabled using the HDMI out into my 9 year old iMac. I get only a very slight delay – so very manageable for live work. I’m using a SouthSky HDMI>USB converter which is working well so far https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B088TTDWCL/ until I get my new M powered Mac, when I’ll go with a USB C version and hopefully lose some of the lag.
I’ve set up the HDMI output settings in my camera’s ‘favourites’ menu, so it’s really easy to configure, and stored the video settings into one of my custom modes for quick access. The HD video quality is amazing (not using 4K for streaming, only recordings) and face detection is working really well even at wide apertures. I’ve paired it with a Rode Wireless GO which clips onto the accessory bracket nicely, in just the right spot.
All in all I’m happy with my basic rig, and will probably go for some aftermarket F970s to cut out the power cable. If you get one, it will definitely lead to more spending – so consider this if you’re just starting out and on a budget.
functions well with my A6400 camera. EZ to adjust monitor.

The image is clean, color is good, it is bright enough for indoors. Buttons are an alright size, though I think the design could put focus punch in in a special place, distinguished from rest of them. What I really didn't like about the product was it comes with no power supply in box, so if you need to use this immediately, nope. I couldn't even test the monitor without buying either batteries or a low amp dc cable. It seems foolish not to have one in the box. In the end, I returned it, because after the cost of batteries and chargers I might as well buy a bigger size, a better brand, and/or something that is a complete kit.

Since I have quite an old camera now, the lack of an articulated screen is a shame. It’s kind of a big full frame camera I’m using, but considering how light this monitor is I don’t think I would mind holding this one handed for vlogging.
This monitor is really nice and clear. The provided bracket is quite sturdy since it’s metal. It would have been nice if this screen could auto flip, but fortunately you can bind that to one of 3 function buttons. For the price and what you get, I’m quite happy with this entry level monitor.
Great Monitor - Side issue with ‘No Signal’ for Canon Users
Finally managed to get my monitor working but it’s nothing to do with the product itself. This works great. I’m using a Canon 750D and tried 2 HDMI cables for this and still no luck. Both cables were brand new so it couldn’t be them. I was about to give up and return the item till I found a video on YouTube explaining what you need to do to make it work.
You need to ensure your Enable WiFi option in Camera Menu Settings is turned off to Disable mode. Remove HDMI cable and turn camera off thereafter. Then replug the HDMI cable and turn on Camera to video mode. It should work great. At least it did for me. Can’t wait to use it more!
Videographers read this first.
As a videographer I wanted to give my honest opinion.
This screen is great, but there is one thing I wanted to mention to other people looking at this product.
When you first hit record on your camera, there is a 5 second delay before it actually starts recording and shows up on the screen. It also gets trimmed down when you are recording, and the picture comes threw in poor 1080p quality.
Having a 5 second delay was irritating, and a disappointment at a lacrosse event I was filming. I missed a few good shots because there was that delay.
I felt that this was an important deciding factor for some videographers so I decided to share my opinion. Other than that, the screen is great.
Simples! Brillia
Just a great monitor at a really realistic price, so many features.
Decent Monitor with some caveats
I bought it just to have a smaller secondary screen available to me.
My gripes are as follows:
I could not get 4K passthrough to work, my device wouldn’t allow the option of more than 1080p into the display.
It is very power hungry for such a small screen. I haven’t set a timer to it. But my Canon LP-E6 batteries last like what feels less than 30 mins. The screen gets noticeably warm likely due to its power efficiency.
The screen itself is decent, colors seem okay, and resolution seems to be as advertised, but would be best used with shore power/ a corded power supply. The photography features do work, as to how well they work, I personally wouldn’t hazard to guess as I have no need of it. My camera does it in body for the most part and has a much easier to use screen.
For the videographer/ photographer I think the only issue would be the lack of battery life.
Whilst the unit is very ‘plastic’, it’s a great start if you need a field monitor for your gimbal, or, like me, you film a lot of tech unboxing videos. Having a slightly larger screen is a godsend. I’ve done an unboxing / brief menu tour video so you can see what you’re getting. I think this would be 5 stars if it had a DC adaptor included.
So far, so good though!
Straight off the bat, this product costs more than some 21-inch computer monitors which look pleasing to the eye in comparison to this monitor used in production. While it can handle 4K and downscale or even use the 4K signal to be used in punching in for focus, the screen quality is ok at most to do things like magnification and false colour, however when representing what is coming out of the camera, it is not a monitor I would recommend for doing fine adjustments. In comparison to other field monitors, this has great value for money, even though things like focus peaking and the options for the different scopes and histograms are limited, I find that I was spending more time trying to figure out what this monitor was trying to represent than I was trying to figure out how to make my shots better to the point I was looking at the back of my on camera screen when using a gimbal to save time despite the smaller size.
Do check your camera for HDMI type. My Nikon D90 needed a mini not a micro cable.
A well presented product..
It arrived with a micro hdmi so i have to buy a mini cable and a set of batteries and charger to complete the set-up.
The supplied cable will be used on a Panasonic Camera so nothing lost.
Super useful monitor. Use with a canon eos-m and it actually helps boost the HDMI out if you want to run this into a capture card for streaming. The menu is pretty easy to navigate and saves all the settings. You can easily mount this upside down and flip the image if needed. Also you can zoom into the image for canon eos-m because there is a slight letterboxing from the HDMI out on that camera. I power it with a big sony battery and use the DC output to power my BMPCC as well. So win-win on this thing. May buy a second one at some point.

Trs bon produit, recommand,
This is my written review of the products I’ve purchased on amazon.
This review is only for those looking for information about the monitor in the real world. I have done this test to show the visibility of the monitor in a real-world situation as a filmmaker or photography trying to create content.
Feelworld did not ask me to do this review or this written review. I purchase this with my own money. This is not a Promotion, I am a Professional Photographer giving feedback
I like some of the features that it some with and even thou that the monitor doesn’t have a gyroscope to make fliping the image easier but it does work when you have to set and change this in the settings. “this takes more time than using a gyroscope”
Images look clear with 50% brightness and 50% backlight but keep in mind that when using the backlight at a high percentage the battery can decrease and you will lose on screen time if you do so. “use higher capacity batteries but this will increase the weight to the gear and to the monitor.
Not everyone is going to like this but I think they could sell the monitor with different cable ports, the one it does come with, is micro HDMI to HDMI and not all cameras use the same HMDI ports. I had to use the mini HDMI and to HDMI and purchase one from another seller which in my optional is not something no one should experience but then again ” marketing and manufacturing and knowing how many types of HDMI cables to add to per-box can be a pain. It’s best for you to invest in a high-quality HDMI for your camera in advance.
Focus peaking feature works best with Sony cameras or any camera that does support pure focus peaking features/ “Reason said – Canon DSLR can’t show the full effect of focus peaking due to lack of that technology and sensor abilities. When a Sony, it clearly stands out and works much better with my Sony A-mount A77ii vs Canon 8D with no Focus Peaking features.”
False Colors work well with DSLR camera with stock picture profiles but with a camera using Log profiles or cinema cameras, it works well with professional-level cameras and you can see when using the log profiles the true colors and exposures guide when dealing with those false colors.
Battery lives is a mixed bag “based on user experience” This topic should be left untouched for the reason that I am using monitor based one conditions scene. This included brightness and backlight usability.
Price is and was a shock to me at the time of my purchase at the price os $100 U.S dollars
The size for this monitor in my optional is just perfect for gimbal work or hand-held film work in the field.
“As I said before – NOTE: based on one battery, the weight will be added.” Most monitors right now with the same features are price more.
Functionality, I can move and rotate the monitor for my user experience when I have to and the addition of the unique style of the L-bracket “TILT ARM” works well for most situations.
***** Vorweg *****
– kein Fokus Peaking + Belichtung gleichzeitig
– Schlechtes Qualitt vom HDMI Kabel
Gets the job done
Lightweight and gets the job done with great image quality
Pro:
1- utilizzo a scelta batterie sony 970 o Canon LP-E6.
2- risoluzione 1920×1080
3- hdmi loop (un IN e un OUT)
4- Focus peaking e False Color
5- Presa minijack 3,5mm per le cuffie.
6- Leggero
Contro:
I haven’t gotten to use this much, due to the quarantine. But I purchased to use on my Zhiyun Weebill S gimbal.
I previously had purchased a 7″ monitor for less money, but it simply couldn’t work with my rig. This 5.5″ works, but I wouldn’t go any bigger for use on a gimbal (unless you have handles or an all around rig that you can mount things to). The only solution I liked for the Weebill was a 6″ metal arm with 2 threaded ends almost in an L shape.
I’m a photographer who occasionally shoots video, and I wanted to take it more seriously, so this is my first monitor. My biggest concerns are a bigger image to improve shots, and then it’s built in features (focus peaking, histograms, zebras etc) to help get the best exposure and focus as I can, or at least more efficiently. The latency isn’t bad for under $100 (better than if I used the Canon Connect app). It accepts a 4k signal but the screen itself is 1080p, which is fine for my purposes. The quality and brightness seem good, I haven’t tested how long it lasts on batteries yet, but I’d imagine it would be worth purchasing at least 2 if not 4.
The screen is lightweight, and mostly plastic. It doesn’t feel cheap, but I do worry about durability and purchased a hard shell case for it (trial and error on amazon, but I believe what I purchased was a hard drive case or a case for a GPS). So I can toss it in my camera bag and go.
It gets weighed down by the batteries I use the 550s instead of the 900s or whatever, sacrificing run time for less weight. And my biggest disappointment is the mounting. It’s only got a mounting hole on the side and not the bottom. Some FeelWorld monitors have multiple threaded holes to provide more mounting options. This is so frustrating considering the failed attempts to properly mount my previous 7″ monitor. Using the included bracket, I was able to use the cold shoe to mount to the metal arm mount I had purchased. Now I get the tilt function from the arm, which can be useful at times, however it’s now closer to the gimbal handle and it feels claustrophobic too. At some point I will upgrade to a 5″ monitor with more mounting options, but for now it’s minor, just annoying.
If you need something more for viewing, or to aid composition/focus/exposure, this is great for the price (so far).
Five stars
It is stylish as well as professional. Very clear even in strong sunlight and really does work better than I could have hoped.
Cheap but does what it should
Item is ok very light and picture is ok too very cheap
Fantastic quality screen, and packed with useful features
I am seriously impressed with the picture quality for video monitoring on this. My expectations were that it would be good enough to check frame and focus and that would probably be about it, but it’s capable of far more than that. The 1080 detail is really fine and precise, and you can see single-pixel details from monitor inputs. The screen is capable of a strong brightness and very rich and accurate colour, even just from a 12V input. It’s an eye-openingly good quality screen.
The level of control and customisation on it is excellent. Beyond your standard brightness and contrast settings, it’s got a slew of extra features, covering colour temperature, grid-based zoom functions, histograms, false colour simulations and so on. The three ‘F’ buttons on the top can be customised to bring up your preferred function with a single click, allowing you to set it to do what you’re really after as easily as possible. The interface designers need a pat on the back on this one.
The hardware is lightweight-ish- the 150g claim on the product description is inaccurate, I make it 185g for the main body of the device not including the mount, frame, cables etc. So as well as the standard mounting position, it’s also quite easy to rig up in different arrangements to suit different needs.
The downscaling from 4K HDMI to 1080 is immediate, fuss-free, and without any artefacting that I can see, so that’s pretty impressive too. The ability for HDMI pass-through is a plus, as is the audio monitoring (not supported by some DSLR’s).
For video and photo work, this is a real bonus with a good range of genuinely useful features on it- and a seriously impressive screen for the price. If you’re beginning to take your image work seriously, then this is really going to help you.
I have been sent this for review in two versions, this the FW568 and also the F5. I find in use there is little to choose between them, the obvious visual difference is the overall size, this the FW568 being larger with a slightly larger screen. There appear to be minor differences in available functions but unless those functions are something you especially need they are of little consequence in general use.
In use there is little if anything to choose between them as far as image quality is concerned, both being very good. My main concern is precise focus for close up photography and the image allows for very accurate focusing. The slightly larger screen of the FW568 gives it a slight edge in this respect.
The option to have various camera settings displayed is also a great aid especially for selecting the exposure with the graphs being especially helpful. Having all this on the large screen makes the process much easier.
Another advantage of the monitor is its manoeuvrability, if I want to place the camera at ground level for example it is impossible for me to use the camera’s view finder, with this there is no problem at all.
The monitor comes with a sunshield for use in bright light, but as it is at the moment mid-winter it’s not possible to tell how effective the whole setup will be outdoors in bright summer light.
The only real downside to this monitor is the power consumption, in continuous use it lasts about and hour to an hour and a half using the Canon battery option. Of course in practice you would only need to turn it on for shooting so I real terms you will have more time.
External Monitor - Sony A6000 Compatible
This small screen provides an extra external monitor to be used on the camera or gimbal. The monitor is 5.5 inches. You also get in the box; user manual, a sunshade hood, metal tilt arm, HDMI cable. There are various useful functions such as zebra, focus peaking, grids, safety lines, and histogram.
Works great with my Sony A6000.
The screen has a plastic body making it feel light, but this is without a battery. On one side is the HDMI input and output, together with the external power pin. On the bottom you have the mini USD port, power, and headphone socket. On the top you have navigation and function buttons. The menu is not that easy to navigate but I tend not to use it after setting my three favorite functions. You will need to buy a battery or use your own camera power.
For the more professional orientated photographer.
I purchased this Freeworld monitor for my canon 5d iv and it has helped significantly during both my video and photoshoots. I shoot a lot of manual macro stuff so accurate in exposure and focus is crucial. One of the main reasons I purchased this monitor is because it has peaking and zebras features. Checking your focus and exposure is a breeze with this monitor and simply having a larger preview than your viewfinder is a lot easier on your eyes. I have also used this many times on my zhiyun crane 2 gimbal when on a wedding shoot and it has helped significantly to see better. It’s also really nice that it can be powered by a canon lpe6 battery, the same my camera uses. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of this monitor, it is a staple on my shoots and is very useful.
Great value for the money. Good build quality too.
Does the job I wanted it for.
In harsh light the hood it comes with helps. Focus peaking and histogram are really handy.
Definitely a good investment and value for the money with all that features. Will use it on all my commercial projects.
Perfect for using with my Moza Air and Sony a6500
Plug and play with my a6500 and delivers just what I need as a monitor. OK, it’s plasticky, but it’s also very lightweight and does everything I need it to. For the price I don’t think it can be beaten.
it is a great external monitor for my sony A6000
I like most of the features, my mainly use for this is for photo-zooming and get much details and sharpness as possible. The only feature that I am not sure is the peaking colour. I cannot see the peaking (R,G,B) if it is working everytime I chose it for my focusing.
A very nice monitor and especially for the price. I would like to thank Mew and Bella who have been exceptional in helping me beyond the call of duty. Thanks Mew and Bella. The only problem I have encounted is, I have a canon 5d mk 2 dslr which does not come with a headphone socket, so part of the reason I got this was the fact that the monitor was equipped with such socket. The only thing that I was unaware of and anyone getting this monitor should be is, the headphone socket is for monitoring whilst in playback mode only, not in recording mode. This slight dissapointment is offset by the monitor in general.
I really want to 5 star this one; it has excellent image quality for the price, you get THREE function buttons, and it’s a good size for setups where 7″ is too much. **EDIT** Man, Feelworld’s customer service is RESPONSIVE; this should really give you confidence, they’ve really jumped into trying to learn what issues I’ve had. **
I wanted a 5 or 5.5″ with the dual Sony/Canon plate – I have about 6 aftermarket Canon batteries and all sorts of sizes of Sony; the Sony pop right in, but not the Canon. It takes a lot of force to get them to pop into place, and an utterly ridiculous amount to remove them – like “I’m gonna break this thing” scary. Maybe there’s a difference in actual Canon LP-E6 batteries – I don’t shoot Canon but the LPs are so ubiquitous that I have a bunch. I did email Feelworld and they replied right away, asked for a link to purchase similar batteries and test them, so – good fast reply at least, but doesn’t solve my issue. **EDIT** Feelworld continues to be in touch with me, they actually purchased the non-Canon batteries from Amazon and confirmed they have an issue. I have to assume most people buy a camera that comes with one battery and then instantly buy a handful of cheap aftermarkets, so this may be an ongoing issue with buyers of this camera.**
But, of great importance – color was perfect right out of the box; I didn’t need to use bars and adjust (it does have blue-only though). They’ve really sourced an excellent panel for this one. You can adjust sharpness as well. It’s nice & snappy.
The other 2 dings are minor – the side-mount with a bracket is kinda cool, but most of us are used to mounting these from the bottom. To bottom mount the monitor, you have to remove a small part and move it from the side to the bottom (tiny screws, not gonna be your favorite thing to do on-set). Feelworld sells the part for about ten bucks, just ordered one, but it seems like the monitor should show up with at least 2 mounting points. Also, the supplied bracket lets you tilt the monitor but not rotate it (I’ve found when I’m running camera with an interviewer, the subject will keep glancing at me/the camera; if I rotate my monitor so I’m not facing the subject at all, that behavior stops – it works like a charm, try it sometime). These little screens are great for odd rigs, crazy angles, cranes, shooting very low or high, and the old-school ball and socket mount lets you get the monitor aimed where you need it pretty quickly. YMMV of course, but more mounting points would be welcome; ten more bucks and you’re good though.
And one more minor quibble – multiple zoom levels, but not a true 1:1 level, as far as I can tell. On the plus side, assign an Fkey to Zoom, and each press cycles through the zoom range – in my experience most small monitors are 1:1 or no-zoom until you get up there in price, so the extra levels could be handy. Peaking is fine, and I use the third f button for check-fields; I often frame with the camera’s monitor and ride focus with the external zoomed in 1:1 with peaking and monochrome (I find peaking is much clearer with mono vs. color). I shoot almost all 4K for a 1080 timeline, and the screen looks just fine regardless of footage resolution. HDMI out is nice, no splitter needed for multiple monitor gigs.
So, ten bucks solves the mounting issue, but the battery plate’s a disappointment; ordered some more Sony and I suppose I’ll shelve the Canon batteries for now. Service is responsive (they sent me the link to the mounting part right away). Wondering if anyone else has battery plate issues, I’ve tried other screens with dual plates and had zero issues.
This is a very good screen, perfect size to mount on top of a Pro Video camera and far better than the silly 3.5 inch ones they fit, in this case it was fitted on a JVC 170. The only down side it you do not get a battery, so you need a cannon style E6 pair on the rear and also buy a charger. The screen get very warm and seems to pull a lot of current, there is no power supply with the unit, but can take power from your Camera charger. However, for use outside you have no choice but to spend the extra cash on batteries and a charger, for some reason, at the time of writing this review the spec does not tell you the unit comes without the needed batteries and charger.
