So, you’re looking at a Robot Vacuum Cleaner. Good idea. Who needs all those wires getting everywhere, especially us whelchair users. Get some idea with an old vacuum what it must be like for cats and balls of yarn, just without the “fun” bit.

Would I recommend the Maxcom? Sure. With a few caveats, however.

Let’s talk positives first. I am a wheelchair user with a cat and let’s say that the first couple of rounds this bad boy eventually did, it was 90% cat hair. I don’t know how it was finding that much without harassing my cat around with its little front brushes, but it was. In fact, it sucks in the best way a vacuum cleaner should, it pulls up spilled espresso powder and whatever my cat swipes out of his food dispenser because he’s displeased (usually about the robot cleaner now). I’m actually kind of impressed with how it fills up even though it runs every day, because clearly it can find what I can’t see.

But it also definitely has its limits on what it will pull up. The problem with a smaller tank and a smaller device is that sometimes, big things fall onto the floor and the robot vacuum isn’t up to that job. What it can, and will do, is a good daily sweeping of your floors. Any other major jobs may require other larger handheld devices.

The mopping function is also extremely good. As I have wooden floors, after a good sweep, it’s time for a good mop, and it does that pretty well. Though you may need to find a proper robot mop detergent for it, which is a little more pricey than your basic supermarket floor cleaners, to get really top-drawer results. It’s definitely something to consider, as basic supermarket stuff only does so much when the robot effectively is just dragging a damp microfiber cloth around the floor.

It can also do minor vacuuming with the mop attachment, but the tank is of course smaller. And a little more tricksy to clean out since it doesn’t open up like the other. You need to rattle it around and use the supplied brush for it.

You will, of course, need to change the attachment tanks between mopping and vacuuming. It doesn’t seem to like nor recommend leaving the mop attachment in (because it will constantly be leeching solution into the cloth is my guess over electrical concerns), so you’ll be switching between them. It’s not difficult though – both attachments have bright yellow switches/latches on the back for this, and the only downside is the robot constantly reminding you, “Robot Off-Ground”. Yes, dear. You’re off ground because I picked you up.

As for the wifi and Alexa integration; actually not that bad at all. A little fiddly, but the app did eventually pick up the robot cleaner and I was able to set up a basic daily cleaning schedule, which now means my cat insists on early morning cuddles for reassurance that the robot isn’t out to get him (maybe the robot did steal all his floof…). The Alexa integration is rather basic and a little “extra” since you get a remote, but I suppose it’s nice and there is that fun science fiction feeling of asking a computer to clean your appartment.

On the subject of the remote… it’s serviceable. Look, cheap remotes are cheap for a reason, and so this just has the basics and doesn’t have the same feel as the wifi controls do, but point it at the robovac and it will do what you instruct it to. I couldn’t work out how to set up a daily schedule through it though so… *shrugs*

Right, so this has been mostly positive. It’s a lovely robot vacuum cleaner that’s making my life so much more easy and automatically does a job that used to cause me so much grief and despair in the past.

What happened? Well… it may take a few shots to get a good ‘un.

The first robovac I got worked for about an hour before the right sensor decided to straight up die on me, making it impossible to use. So a quick jaunt to the order page, return filled out, sure let’s try a replacement. And then the second delivery… was just an outright disaster, clearly the box had already been opened and the security sticker was covered in sand or something. I refused it outright, and had to go through Customer Support this time. But the chap I spoke to understood, and since we both knew a bit about tech we both knew you never accept something when the security seal is damaged.

Another week later almost, I got the third one, which has turned out to be the right one. It’s a fair bit of hassle, particularly as one return seemed to keep mysteriously show up as not having been returned (news to me since my support worker sent two back at the same time and one was showing up), so be warned that if you’re not one of the Chosen Few to get a good ‘un on your first delivery… you might need a couple of replacements before you get that good ‘un.

And to send them back you’ll need a printer. Thank goodness I bought a new one of those!

So, overall thoughts; definitely happy about joining the Robovac Revolution. Mine runs every morning, I switch it to mop at lunchtime, and it’s just nice to know that I can focus on other more important things in my life.

Not smooth sailing, but got there in the end. And sometimes that’s what matters.

(Attached are some images of Robot Vacuum. Also of The Boy, since I’ve been reminded in the past it’s rude to mention a cat this cute and NOT SHOW HIM to the world.)

Worked Out In The End (A Few Things To Note)

No problems integrating with Alexa. Sucks up an awful lot. Have to aim remote directly at appliance to work. Quieter than a normal hoover. Pleased with it as I can get on with other stuff. Make sure floors are clear as mine has got lego caught.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWow — just what I needed with kids and pets in lockdown!!

Through the madness of lockdown it felt like I was never on top of the house — until I got the Robot Hoover. It was a life saver, great for cleaning up mess made from the kids and pet hair (we have 2 dogs and a cat). I ran it daily and it didn’t bother the animal at all.
The app is really good, great future to set up the schedule but also great to check it has covered the full area (which it always does). I cant believe the amount it collects in the dust bin — super powerful and quiet.
The mop function is great, easy to install it and the tank is huge — plenty big enough to cover our kitchen and day room area.
I’ve had this for around 3 months now and its been a life saver!

Absolutely love this product. It is fantastic both as a hoover and for mopping the floors. Super easy to setup and all of the functions are great… you can easily setup to vacuum the areas you want or avoid so it doesn’t bump into anything fragile. Its really quiet so I have it setup downstairs to go round every night. Every morning I come down to a clean floor. Highly recommend

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI was on the fence about buying a robot vacuum as I wasn’t sure if it was just a gimmicky product for lazy people but I couldn’t have been more wrong! I’ve been using mine for a few weeks now and I love it. I have a large 2 bed flat with a mixture of carpets and tiles and the MH11 cleans both in one use without having to change any settings. It takes about 50 minutes to clean my entire flat before it automatically returns to the charging dock (My favourite feature). The mop function is great — it has a massive tank which probably could do my tiled area 4/5 times over! I normally run the mop once/twice a week.
The box includes a remote control but I prefer the downloadable app to control the vacuum, it is compatible with Alexa but the app is so easy I haven’t had the need to sort it out yet. The controls are very easy to use and it doesn’t take long to get familiar with all the features. I’ve tried a couple of the cleaning modes but I’ve stuck with the zig-zag option as this works best for me for a general clean.
For me one of the most important aspects with any vacuum is how loud it is. Like a lot of people now I work from home all day so this was always a concern having a noisy hoover next to me when I’m on the phone. This is where it truly excels as I barely notice when it’s on. Once we get back to normal living (post covid) I’ll be using the schedule function more often.
Once you have a robo vac you won’t be able to go back to a standard hoover. One less chore for the week!

I’d heard a little bit about Robot Vacuums but wasn’t sure what to get as they all seemed a bit complicated to me, potentially even a little bit of a gimmick.
This one was recommended by a friend and I’ve not looked back since. The set up was very easy, all I needed to do was show a QR code to ‘Maxi’ and it synced up to my app which is also very simple to use. Occasionally (in normal times!) I let out a spare room out as an Airbnb so the cleaning can get a bit much at times. The Maxcom can now do my mopping and hoovering for me, which is a great help.
    I would highly recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this a few weeks ago as I was tired of needing to constantly hoover up the pet hairs from my aging cat who leaves hairs all over the downstairs carpet. I was getting the standard hoover out every day and I needed to get out of that cycle. I’ve got our robot going round every day, sometimes twice, and I must admit I am enjoying being able to do other things with my time rather than spending it hoovering! The mop function is also great and the water tank is quite big so it doesn’t need me to constantly fill it up, it typically does about 4 or 5 rus in the kitchen before I need to refill it. It also helps that it is quiet too, so often I barely notice it is there.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf Carlsberg did hoovers ….
Fist came the wheel, then the light bulb, then the Robot Vacuum ….
This little thing is an absolute game changer! My brother recently bought a robot like this to cut the grass and we’ve been looking at robotic hoovers for some time (As I can’t be out done by my brother!) and after some research I found this one. To say I’m happy with it is an understatement and it really has changed how we keep our house clean and tidy. The app was easy to install and use so we do a quick tidy in the morning, set ‘Little Fran’ off on her clean via the app (which works on 4G so you can be out and about and come home to a clean home) and sit back and enjoy spotless floors. You can keep track of where’s been hoovered on the app and even set a cleaning schedule (we went for everyday cos we have 2 kids and why not!). The battery is more then sufficient to do our whole house and we use the magnetic strip at the top of the stairs when doing the upstairs. Little Fran then makes her way back to the charging dock when she’s finished. On the carpet she also leaves ‘cleaning lines’ , like strips on a football pitch, which looks cool and makes the lounge feel ‘cleaner’ some how. The mop is a great addition works in the same way as the hoover and very useful to sanitise the floor. What a great bit of tech and I would highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t got time to hoover, or just fancies someone else to do it!

    Total Game Change

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersThis is a great! I have done a little video to show how it works for anyone interested (like I was). Hope it helps.

Further note: I have noticed that if you watch it do the work, you ask your self “why does it do it like that?” But the reality is it doesn’t need to go in a straight line, like we would as you leave it on, it just goes over the areas over and over again until clean. I don’t have time to clean like that but this robot does.
