I bought this to trim a couple of trees in my back garden. Both young oak trees about 20yrs old. This machine was brilliant. I was cutting through wood over 6″ in diameter, it literally cut like a hot knife through butter! I’ve fitted it with an 18v xr, De Walt battery. That gives it the power and longevity it requires. Very impressed with this little saw. Lightweight, easy to use & to clean after use. The chain is self tightening once you release the locking key on the side of the machine. For an unbranded piece of machinery at this price, you cannot go wrong. Highly recommended.

I thought this was a gimmick. But this little chainsaw did its job and it did it super well. I love that it can work with dewalt batteries.
One downfall the chain tends to get loose.

Bought to use alongside the DeWalt 18V chainsaw.
And, apart from the stickers, you would believe that it was a genuine DeWalt product.
    ( see picture )
    Amazing little tool.
Excellent for removing the smaller, side branches.
Doesn’t have an oiling mechanism. But I just Carry a small bottle of oil inside the case.

    👍😄👍

Works well does the job but eats the batteries for smaller stuff it’s better than getting the big saw out.

I had my doubts but it’s a great piece!

Comes with a case which is not mentioned in the listing clearly but hey thanks!

sadly no oil container so I have to oil the chain after a couple of cuts.
I tried it on 4″ and 6″ bucking turn and cut and it amazingly did the job, I like the power off when it’s too much too handle it keeps the motor and battery safe

This mini chainsaw really took me by surprise, I don’t often deviate from genuine DeWalt tools but as I was given this to review I didn’t have anything to lose and I’m really glad I’ve got it now I’ve tested it out.

First of all, asides from the missing DeWalt stickers and logo this looks exactly like the rest of my genuine tools. It comes in a tough carry case which holds it perfectly, it also comes with a spare chain.

The chainsaw is fairly lightweight so didn’t fill me with confidence on its power output but when used with a 5ah 18v battery it cuts through branches really well. The blade is easy to change, very similar to the way it’s changed on the full sized DeWalt chainsaw. The batteries fit on well, as they would to any other DeWalt tool in fact. The whole set up with 5ah battery weighs roughly the same as a combi drill so it’s easily used with 1 hand.

Overall for the 67 price tag it’s a fantastic bit of kit and great value for the money.

I bought this simply because it uses DeWalt batteries. A 4ah battery lasts around an hour of cutting continuously.

Would’ve preferred an oil reservoir but oiling is simply done by pouring directly onto the chain.

Makes limbing branches a doddle and it’s so quick and easy.

BEWARE it says tool only in the description, for some people (including myself) likely to be misleading

But it basically means it contains the bare tool only with no battery

This is compatible with de-Walt batteries and the battery model numbers are detailed within the instructions.

The chainsaw itself seems like a nice solid tool, has a nice sturdy carrying case and comes with a spare chain as well.

Haven’t used it because I have no battery. Seems as though it will be a decent little tool once it’s going and should come in handy for cutting back our hedge once the weather warms up

It comes with carrying box. It looks excellent little saw. Lightweight. Comes with a spare chain. The chainsaw is compatible with the Dewalt 18v XR battery well( battery not included) I wish it comes with it. I haven’t had the opportunity to actually use the chainsaw yet.

This is a small but mighty chainsaw. Used it to cut down all the old overgrown shrubs around my house. Most of them had branches at least 7-8 inches in diameter and it powered through with no problem. Highly recommend.

This is a great tool !!

Comes in a well designed storage case, which is even moulded to store one of your dewalt batteries (not included).

Lightweight, and powerful mini chainsaw which is ideal for smaller jobs around the garden, etc.

Well made, and feels solid and robust.

Supplied with a spare chain too !

I have a load of cherry wood that I’ll be using for smoking on the bbq, and I was dreading cutting it all by hand …. not any more ! This will make light work of the job for sure !

Would definitely recommend this item !

    Absolutely love this !!

Amazing mini chainsaw. It arrived quick and it was well packed. It’s a cordless chainsaw…which gives a lot of flexibility. It’s lighter than a gas chainsaw which is amazing in terms of how long can you use it without your hands getting tired. The mini chainsaw is compatible with Dewalt 18v XR battery such as DCB182,DCB183,DCB184,DCB187,DCB189……BUT…be aware…the battery is not included …so that would be an additional cost to buy one.
High-temperature hardened chain ,sharper and higher hardness, fast and smooth sawing without jamming.
This mini chainsaw comes with self-contained wrench design, easy to disassemble and install.
The electric chainsaw is equipped with brushless copper motor, strong power 450W,and peak power can be 850W,18000rpm.
Overheating protection to ensure battery’s life. Chain baffle and Dual switch design to ensure the safety during the use process. One thumb switch for the trigger safety and one-finger trigger for operation.
It’s an absolutely amazing chainsaw….it works perfectly….can’t fault it with absolutely nothing….
I am gladly recommending this to anyone. Worth every single penny. Amazing quality for a fair price.

My first impression of this mini chainsaw was of how surprisingly light and easy to handle it was. It does look up to the job I’m going to use it for (cutting back some hedgerow in my garden) however I won’t be able to use it until I get a battery (currently priced at just over 30), so I will update my review once I do this.

    Review from my husband:

Firstly, I’d like to say I can see that it says tool only in the description, but for some people, it may be misleading in some ways as they could be thinking what else should I be getting? But it basically means it contains the bare tool only with no battery as it will and probably has misled many people already. It’s a bit pants that it doesn’t come with a battery, I know of the Ryobi one system where one battery powers many tools and I’m assuming this is compatible with de-Walt batteries down to the colours of the tool. It seems like a really nice little chainsaw and feels of quality construction, has a nice sturdy carrying case and a spare chain as well. No instructions though and no idea how to source a compatible battery either. Haven’t used it because I have no battery. Seems as though it will be a decent little tool once it’s going through and should come in handy for cutting back our tree branches in the summer. 4/5

This chainsaw is delivered as the main body only. There was no battery, or charger.
There is a case which does have room to store several accessories like batteries.
    A spare chain was included.

If you don’t care about instructions, you might want to scroll down.

I am a novice to chainsaws, and I found the instruction manual to be useless. There are a lot of safety warnings (including a lot on a non-existent battery), but the depth of the rest of the instructions are minimal.
For example, the manual states that you should lubricate the chainsaw every 15 minutes of use, but doesn’t state the type of oil (or is it grease?) or where/how to do it. Chainsaw oils apparently have an additive to make them stick better
For those that are used to petrol chainsaws, the usual recommendation is check the oil once per tank. But this chainsaw doesn’t have a reservoir to fill.

When I look at youtube (the instructions state: “Replacing/changing the saw chain and chain bar (see videos uploaded on YOUTUBE”) there are about 30 videos for various products, with only one as far as I can see on this chainsaw. This is for changing the chain at just under 2m long. Unfortunately although the video has sound, it doesn’t have voice, when the person doing it points at something, I don’t really know what they were trying to bring attention to. Unfortunately this also didn’t show how to oil the chainsaw.

The instructions are almost as if they have been copied from another product/manufacturer. At one point,
“Put the chain guard (9) on the bar (11) to prevent injury”. The () numbers are often used to refer to parts listed on a diagram, but the only diagram doesn’t have any number markings.

The batteries in the instruction manual are different to the advert. These are listed as DCB203, DCB205 and SCB207.

I guess this is enough winging about the instruction manual now. I could go on. I would have felt a lot more confident had the instructions been, well, present.

In the end I used a piece of kitchen towel with some chainsaw oil pooled on top, and pulled the chain using the paper in its rotation direction.

On to the use, I used a DC184 battery as that is what is listed on the advert. It fitted OK, but is 4AH in size (I think the instructions state you must use 5AH).

I attempted to saw up some branches which have been off of a tree for about a year. I got about 55 cuts through before the saw started to sound and feel sluggish. The light was also fading and it was starting to drizzle. And being my first time with a chainsaw like this I didn’t want to push my luck. The cuts ranged from 3.5″ (9cm) to ~2″ so were not massive, but not twigs either.

Mostly the cuts went through well. Gently pushing the chainsaw down to the wood, trying not to push too hard, but also wary that there was only space for a single hand-grip. (the instructions say you must use two hands)

There were two occasions where the chainsaw stalled. Not sure why, I guess I must have gone at a bad angle.
What was more worrying though, was on one occasion the on button got stuck in. I had to tap the button to get it to come out.

Ultimately the saw seemed to work ok. I do not think that the instructions or the youtube site put across a very professional view.
The saw seems sturdy enough, it got through a 3.5″ log easy enough. The guard popped up and it went down Ok. Little off-putting about the power button. I will continue to use it, and I will be trying some larger logs once the weather improves.

It is a very light chainsaw, and I am in two minds as to whether that is good or not. On the plus side, it is easy to hold in one hand, on the downside, you are tempted to use it one handed, possibly not so safely, and there is less weight to deal with kickback.

It is not perfect, and those instructions need work, you need to work out how to use it safely yourself

4.0 out of 5 stars Light, powerful, but instructions non-exista

This chainsaw looks the part and comes In a sturdy case. You need a battery to be able to use it, so if you don’t have one compatible already you will need to purchase one. It is easy to use and has done a good job on an overgrown hedge, but it needs to be clearer how to buy a compatible battery.

Instruction of these tool is bad and almost not usefully at all. It should be just one instruction to only cordless saw. Another thing oil reservoir, it doesn’t have one so how I can refill it? Need to oil chain by myself every 15mins it seems so there is no info how also. Should I put it straight on every part of it or just a bit on beginning? Information about chain tension also wrong. Few others like replacing chain. So I don’t recommend it for someone using chainsaw for a first time. It should have some links or qr code to the video section maybe. It does job pretty good if You have battery already otherwise it would cost same price just getting battery to use plus charger so I would suggest getting full set with battery if You don’t own at home.

Everything start by reading instruction, if instruction is bad, incomplete then using tool can be harmful.

6″ cordless chainsaw with brushless motor.

This tool comes in a handy little storage case. This is only the tool itself and a spare chain, not the battery. Luckily one of my drill batteries worked with it.

The batteries you can use are
    18V/20V
    Li-ion
    DCB203
    DCB205
    DCB207

This is a nice and simple design. It’s a mere 20″ long altogether, with a 6″ chainsaw on it. You have a protective cover over the chain. The handle is nice and comfortable to hold. It’s fairly lightweight and seems durable enough for smaller jobs.

I think for an at home tool, it’s quite a nifty little thing. I’ve managed to trim down my branches of my mini trees at the side of my house, the chunkier ones did need a bit of force but it got through ok. It didn’t get overheated or anything like that. It was nice and easy to use.

For quality and how well it works, I would recommend it. It’s just slightly more than I thought it would be in price.

Not bad for an at home tool

It came in a very nice box.
I used it with the battery that I have at home and it works fine, but the listing is said to be without battery.
I think this machine without a battery is good for what it is. I think the price of the product with battery should also be.
Overall a cute little useful tool.

A handy compact chainsaw that takes a regular dewalt 18V battery – handy if you also have dewalt power tools, but not so if you don’t. The tool feels well-made and makes short work of cutting through branches and the like. Comes with a good sturdy carry box and a spare chain and has a safety button to prevent inadvertent activation. A good addition to a set of garden tools although would have been better if it came with the battery, especially at this price level.

Mini Chainsaw (No Battery ,Tool Only) from Mellif

I have something similar to this as I occasionally need to trim spikey bushes and cut tree branches that block our way to the garden back door. So to compare this product with the current one I am using, both do the job, but this one is more powerful.

It is easy to assemble, in my opinion, as I have something similar. But first-time users might need help putting together. I suggest checking the tooth chain to see if it is installed correctly before tightening the fastenings and lubricating it often. I’ve only used this with branches and bushes, so I can’t say if it is suitable for cutting wood palettes or thicker wood.

I like that it comes with a safety splash guard for additional safety, but having no battery is kinda unusual. Although it feels cheap, it does its job efficiently as how I need it. I’d still find it recommendable.

You will need to budget extra for a battery and charger, another 50-70, but it is worth it. The saw comes with its own carry case with room for a battery. Very smart.

If you are nervous about using a tool like this, don’t be. As long as you are careful, the chances of an accident are negligible. The saw blade is short and there is no kickback as with a full size petrol model. There is, of course, a safety button. My nightmare would be people using these as weapons, portable and highly dangerous.

Anyway, you will be delighted at how quickly this slices through branches, making a long handsaw job into a short job.

Just protect your eyes against flying fragments. Oh, and you get a spare chain.

This little chainsaw is ideal to take the effort out of jobs like pruning larger branches. Rather than use your own elbow grease, this little cutter powers through quite thichpk branches with ease, in seconds.

I found it very comfortable to ho,d and use. I have arthritis and a heavier power tool can be difficult to manage, tThis is ideal as there are no cords to watch and as long as you have a Dewalt battery pack, you just clip in place and it’s good to go. The safety features over the chain seem ok and I’m happy with it. A great addition to the toolbox.

I had to buy a DeWalt compatible battery and charger for this as I misread the detail. It comes as a bare tool. But it was well worth it as I managed to get the two for about 50.00. It’s such an easy tool to use and does exactly what is needed of it, cutting easily through fair-sized branches of our two fast growing over-large garden tress – a cherry and an elder.

It’s a good tool and just what I needed. It has saved a deal of the hard work I was otherwise going to do with a pruning saw.

The first thing to be aware of is that you do NOT get a battery with this mini chain saw so you will need a DeWalt 18/20v Lithium rechargeable battery in order to use it. I used one of the batteries from my recently purchased DeWalt brushless drill/driver and it was fine – the power delivered from these batteries is excellent.

Upon inspecting the chainsaw I found that the chain was quite loose and could potentially jump off of the chain bar under pressure however, other than the illustration showing how to replace the chain or chain bar there was no information available on how to tension the chain. I read and re-read the instruction manual (very useful if you wish to understand the rechargeable battery that does not come with the chainsaw but pretty useless for anything else), I went onto the MELLIF website which, again, had little to no information, I tried emailing the company but just kept getting an error each time I tried to send the email and I tried using their chat app on the website which also did not work. All I can say is that it does not look good if you need customer support.

So, I went ahead and used it as it was and, to my surprise, it was brilliant at cutting small logs that I had stored ready for the winter. It was also very good at cutting some 4″ x 2″ timber that I had lying around. What is a bit worrying is that the instruction book gives detailed instructions on how to use both hands to hold this saw – it’s most definitely a one-handed mini chainsaw, it would be quite difficult to use both hands or to top up the oil every ten minutes as suggested.

Anyhow, after having tried it out I tried removing the side cover to see if there was a tensioner under this. The illustration on the listing shows a quick twist of the locking nut and off with the cover. I had to carefully use a screwdriver to release the locking nut and then, carefully prise off the cover – only to find that there is no way to tension the chain but there was a build up of sawdust that obviously needs to be cleaned out every so often.

In the end I would have to say that this chainsaw is very good at doing the job that it’s intended for and I hope that it lasts for quite a while as it is far more convenient than having to get my proper chainsaw out every time I need to cut small logs.

Decent little one handed chainsaw. Cuts through timber very well. It’s good that there is a small safety catch to prevent accidents. Only issue is having to buy a battery to use it. For the price you would expect a battery inside.

Supplied as a bare unit so battery needed, if you already use DeWalt 18V tools with the XR battery it is compatible, you can also buy non OEM batteries and chargers on Amazon for less than OEM if you need them. The saw comes with a spare chain and one preinstalled. The blow moulded case has room for a battery and the spare chain. The manual is a bit of a thing hence losing a star, it mentions ensuring the oil reservoir has oil in it, but it does not have one, you manually oil the chain every 15mins it seems, or as required. It also mentions checking the chain tension every 10 minutes of use and it says check this according to the section “tensioning the saw chain” only problem is no such section!! It might mean this section in the YouTube video it refers to, but again could not find the video and there is no link to it in the manual. Not needed to tension the chain yet but I think it is spring tensioned and loosening the blade retaining screw, which does not require a tool as the lever held on the body pops up to unscrew the screw, see pictures. Slackening it seems to let the blade re-tension, removing it completely allows the chain and bar to be removed for blade replacement. As can be seen from the video it does a good job of slicing through branches with little effort, even with the battery it is very light so easy to work with. These are the batteries it says are compatible on the Mellif website MAX XR DCB203 DCB205 XR Slider Lithium Batteries. Interestingly the site says 20V but apparently in Europe the same batteries are classified as 18V. Interestingly the manual suggests looking on the Bosch-PT website for parts diagrams!

Great saw, not so good instructions!

I ordered this be used I have quite a lot of trees in my garden.
I was starting to think I would have to pay someone to do them as the branches I wished to prune and cut back are too thick for pruning shears to cut.
This is going to save me some money.

It’s lightweight unlike to petrol driven ones so I can manage it easily and it’s cordless so easy to manoeuvre.

It’s actually really powerful and can tackle a thick branch will no trouble. It’s very compact so I feel like I have good control.

It’s compatible with the dewalt battery I already own so that’s great.

It’s very well made and durable and I feel like this will last me for some years.

Very happy. Would definitely recommend it.
