You can set the sensor to 0 to turn it off. Or point the device away from where you pet is.

Will this harm any other animals?

No, the ultrasonic noise is a deterrent designed to drive cats away from the area. The frequencies used doesn’t affect pets and other wildlife.

Does the sound affect animals inside the house?

My lawns have been clear of cat waste since I fitted them so I can’t ask for more. Not sure why they say solar powered when you have to fit batteries, unless I am missing something .

I cannot believe that, so far, it is working! Now one month passed…!! Neighbour’s cats hate it. I saw one of them cautiously balancing himself on the fence and not entering the garden for the first time but rather passing to the other side of the alley. It was so unusual and funny and it is great – hopefully, it always works. So far, so good.

These work like a dream. Wanted to protect our tortoise run from local cats so the torts could roam free day and night. Haven’t seen a cat, nor any cat mess, since I installed them. Solar powered so I haven’t had to change the batteries.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo far so good – I am reasonably impressed. We bought these to stop foxes urinating on our lawn leaving unsightly “burnt” patches.

Since we have installed these devices, we have not seen a fox on our lawn and no new patches have appeared. Of course, time will tell so, fingers crossed

Some assembly is required before deployment. A couple of small nuts and bolts hold the metal stake to the main body of the device. Then the batteries need to be fitted and the rear flap and gasket screwed into place. It just takes a couple of minutes and it’s good that the rechargeable batteries can be replaced at some future date.

We have positioned the devices at the edge of the lawn where they get direct sunshine for most of the day. We followed the instructions provided for assembly and set up. They are certainly not verbose but are adequate…..

As I said, so far so good

I think the killer cats are coming slightly less often but a pile of feathers on the lawn this morning right in front of one of the units. Perhaps they think the annoyance is worth it for their fun as they are very young. I’ll carry on moving one of them around and see how it goes. They seem to take the charge well from the sun as the blue lamp always comes on as I walk past. Shame these two cats are like this as I love cats 🙁

I was very happy with my purchase, it did work. I bought 2. But sadly after only 5 months, one of it decided to stop working all of a sudden!! I checked, no water leakage, not broken, as I haven’t move it since it was inserted into the soil where I wanted it to be!
Amazon customer service is great though, they agree that I can return and refund the products, but now I don’t know if I should try my luck and buy the same again?!

These work very well, and I am satisfied with them, however, I have occasionally found that a cat had bypassed one of these devices, and then marked my lawn – probably because the batteries had depleted in the face of an unknown and repeat triggering of that sensor over many days. The lack of battery lever indicator on these units means this has happened a few times in recent months, which is a nuisance and the main negative for me. Another, is that whilst the battery case is removable, it could be designed better, than the small, fiddly-screws set up provided. Once depleted, I have refreshed the supplied rechargeable AA batteries quickly with an external mains charger (not supplied with this product), however, it is frustrating that the only ‘low battery indicator’ is either me noticing the sensor doest pick me up as I pass it, OR (worse!…), that the local Toms have managed to break through my sonic barrier and left their ‘calling card’ That said, when fully charged and strategically placed, they are excellent!

I have had lots of issues with cats in my neighborhood choosing my front garden as their toilet. I spent over 300 laying down stone chippings only to find a cat poo on them two days later! So, I decided to try these. I’ve used them before but found having to change the batteries quite annoying, especially as I would only realise they needed changing when the poos turned up again! Having these as solar powered should help that. For the first couple of weeks my garden was poo free. There was then one after that, but I understand it can take a while for the cat’s behaviour to reset. Since then all has been well…
Definitely recommend. A lot cheaper than laying stones down and a bit kinder than chilli / egg shells / pepper etc!

    Very fast delivery. Well packaged.
    Positives:
1.We’ve had them in use for approximately 4 weeks and there has been a marked reduction in amount of cat/ dog fouling in our garden.
2.They seem to be waterproof and have survived recent run of storms.
    Negatives:
1.My major disappointment was that one set of batteries ( supplied) didn’t work and I’ve had to buy an extra set.
    2. The other negative is the small, fiddly screws on the battery compartment. Extremely difficult to get in and out and you don’t know in advance that you need a particular type of screwdriver (Philips). I am also concerned about their longevity

I bought many of these units over the years from various suppliers with little joy but these are the best i have ever bought and they have solar which is a bonus. Great value for money, working like a dream. The key is to move them around every 2 weeks or so to keep the cats at bay.

As a lifelong animal lover, the sudden surge in cat ownership during coronavirus lockdown should have been a welcome addition to the community, but instead, with the sudden transformation of my front lawn into the neighborhood latrine, I actually found myself sympathizing with Mary Bale, the infamous Coventry “Cat bin woman”!

I tried many solutions, none of which seemed to work. I must admit I was skeptical at first, but I can say these devices do work and are 100% humane. To begin with, there was still some digging and fouling, but it noticeably moved ever closer to the boundary of my property until it stopped altogether after about a week. We bought 4 to cover all the likely entrance points and give nearly 100% coverage. The setting intensity of 4.0 worked for us. The local cats now still pass through our garden but evidently are no longer comfortable relieving themselves within the area of effect.

We live at quite a high altitude and this winter has seen a few blizzards already with strong winds and moderate snowfall which buried the devices. Two of the devices then stopped working completely despite replacing the battery packs and spending several days in the sun. If snow is anticipated they should probably be removed to a sheltered spot for the duration, else the risk is they will be irreparably damaged.

I was disappointed at the speed at which the fouling (in both volume and frequency!) started up again with the reduced coverage. The marketing material had suggested a learned aversion would set in after prolonged exposure, but this did serve to emphasize the evident effectiveness when working at full capacity. Perhaps a full year of use will be needed to ingrain the effect!

Otherwise, relatively low maintenance is required so you can set and forget. Don’t bother with the non-solar version as they are a waste of money, despite costing less. Placement should be facing the likely entrance points of your property but not facing a public footpath or road else the battery will be drained faster than it can recharge.

We tried powder and spray in our cat battle – without success – the nightly cat deposits kept coming. Bought these as a last resort. They work! We’ve had them for a month with just one incident which was possibly due to not positioning a unit correctly. They are incredibly sensitive and the solar recharging works well.

These are brilliant and have resolved my problem of cats visiting my lawn to use as a toilet.
I tried many cheaper suggestions such as spraying with scented water (garlic or lemon), making an uneven surface for the cat to walk on and even plastic spikes along my fence to try to stop them coming in but all failed.
I have been using the Pestbye cat repellent for over a month and have had no further feline visits to my lawn.
Whilst I considered cheaper alternatives this has been money very well spent.

Firstly they arrived less than 24 hours after I ordered them!
Although I thought they were expensive, I wanted solar powered as I thought battery powered might run out and stop working without me realising.
There were four cats that treated my garden as their personal toilet, not any more, it took only a few days, and a bit of tweaking of levels and positioning in the garden to make an impact. My garden is very long and I thought two might not be enough but they are working really well. Occasionally the bravest ginger Tom slinks through the hedge, but soon scoots back out again!
The birds are back and so are the squirrels, so pleased with my purchase, would recommend.

This was my second order for these items. I’d had no trouble at all with the first two, and they seem to be doing what they were bought to do, e.g., keep cats out of the garden.
As they had worked so well, I bought two more, unfortunately one of them has stopped working after about a week. I’ve bought, and fitted new rechargeable batteries, not an ideal solution, but let’s wait and see if this solves the problem.

It took about 3 weeks for the devices to completely stop the cat(s) using our lawn as a toilet but pleased to say there haven’t been any incidents for over 5 weeks. Several months later – I moved the devices for a week in December in an attempt to chase a bird sitting droppingw on a window ledge. Needless to say the cat returned no less than 5 times during that week so it pretty much confirms to me that they really do work.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBeing absolutely pestered by a group of cats doing their business on the lawn, and trying everything but failing badly, we bought two of these on spec. They are very effective indeed and now keep the cats at bay.
They are frequency adjustable for a range of animals, which is a major plus, as even within the feline species you need to adjust the frequency to find the speed spot to keep them off – I suspect this is why others fail when you can’t adjust them.
Just one point, when adjusting the sensitivity, you need to adjust it to the right to increase the sensitivity – i.e. switch on at the least movement detected. Solar powered, have not had a single problem with them – highly recommended

I bought a similar product from the same manufacturer 2/3 years ago which worked great (no cat mess at all a few days after placement).
Over the last few weeks neighbours cats returned to fouling in my garden. The previous deterrents weren’t working as well, clicking sound rather than the high pitched sound. Replaced them with these and over a week later no cats mess. Haven’t saw the cats venture into my garden either. These do work but you may have a few days of figuring out where to place them for best deterrent.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWe’ve had one’s similar to this before, but not solar power, so they were forever running out of power, and we didn’t tend to notice until we could see/smell the count faeces.

    Pros:
    – Seems solidly built
    – We have them at the front of our house (north facing) that doesn’t get the most sun, but these seem to work fine.
    – Since using we’ve had no cat faeces
    – A little thought about positioning means you can hide them easily amongst the flower bed.

We haven’t really experienced any cons yet. From past experience I tend to get the impression that all of these cat repellants seem to work with some cats, but not all. So far none of the local cats can stand these ones.

Gave these a go, and after about 3 weeks, with a slight adjustment to frequency, it seems to have done the trick. I bought the twin pack, covers all the lawn, slightly different frequency on each. Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersSaving the lives of cats. Having spent several thousand converting a large garden allotment, into a pristine lawn, you can imagine how disappointed I was upon realising, I’d converted the neighbourhood cat toilet. If anything, instead of being deterred by the lack of organic veg to poison, they seemed positively delighted by the soft green grass. Perhaps it was the equivelent of buying soft loo roll, in cat world. Through the winter, that part of the garden, which was supposed to be the kids’ football pitch) was unusable. If the occassional football strayed that way, it stayed isolated in the filed of green (and brown). Often having bounced through several cat poos to get to it’s resting place; noone wanted to pick it up, or landmined by cat crap, one daren’t risk trying to get through. Helpless and hopeless, I ordered an expensive product which sprayed water on a motion signal. In the meantime, I decided I had to do something, while I waited for it to arrived, so I tried these. Not only were the amazing, they were also 1/2 the price of the other alternative. They worked brilliantly. Then the kids broke them both with a football, so i bought them again and I will continue to buy them. The water-sprayer thingy was useless. The only thing about these is that you have no idea how long the batteries last.

They’ve worked, but they’ve also made my dog terrified of the garden… There are several different frequencies to select, but nothing to say what settings rate to what to keep out/ scare away (I think one is cats, one dogs, one birds, another mice and moles). It would be useful to have a list, hence why I have knocked off a star.
Other than that, no more cat mess in over a month! And I had been very sceptical.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersHaving seen some of the reviews where people had noted cats didn’t care about these things being there I was a bit skeptical. We got this to stop our cat pooing on our back lawn and have been encouraging her to use an enclosed litter tray on the patio. I put one of these in 1 corner of the garden and the cat was clearly wary of it. Unfortunately she then pooed on the other side of the garden (even though the detector was picking her up and making the noise at the correct frequency). So I put the second one on that side and shes started using the litter tray. Only been 3-4 days but so far seems like a good purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOur front and back gardens have been a draw for every neighbourhood cat for years (we have no pets of our own) and we’ve tried every method of deterrent including pepper dust and other battery-operated gadgets to no effect. These devices really do work and we don’t even have them dialled up to full strength. We sited one each in the front and back garden borders and have observed the usual “culprits” behaviour over the last few weeks. We notice that they don’t hang around for long at the side of the garden covered by the Pestbye and hotfoot it over to the other non-zapped side to do their “business”. So we have just placed another order for a further pair so we can get the remaining borders covered too. Moggies – your days of using our garden as a toilet are over!

Odd one. I had cats fouling my lawn. Very annoying and so worth a try. In the many months I’ve had it that hasn’t happened since. It doesn’t stop cats coming in the garden but they seem agitated and run through. Odd as I said but seems effective.

  56. Anonymous says:

I realise one can only go on personal experiences with a product, and some reviews previous to mine have not been to favourable about these solar cat repelents. So all I can add is this; I purchased two of these due to three or four daily dropping from local cats on my front garden. I have had them now for about six weeks, not one single dropping has been left since setting them up.
The pir sensors pick up easily 10 metres away, my front garden is around 5m/6m so more than ample coverage. The do require some adjusting i.e. sensitivity and sound frequency, so I was probably just very lucky that my adjustments have proved a real ear ache for my local moggies.
I have no fence etc around my garden, just pathways. But it’s comforting to see the cats taking a very wide birth when walking around. Therefore I am glad to say that I personally have had a 100% success from these particular repellents, my neighbour is ordering a pair right now.
The only problem is that at the moment, they can only be purchased as a single unit, at a slightly more expensive price of 16.99 each?? They cost me 29.99 for two, so I think the sellers ought to get their acts together.

Golden Review Award: 22 From Our UsersI have a very small garden which was being used on a daily basis by a neighbours cat soiling my small patch of lawn. I tried several ‘so called’ deterrents including gate spikes, lion pellets, heavily scented plants i.e. mint, garlic, lemon balm curry plant and even orange peel. The twin pack of solar waterproof cat repellent has proved to work, I placed one near the gate and fence where the cat used to enter and one on my lawn, I have watch the cat walk along the fence next door, stopping at my fence and sitting before returning back. I recommend these items.
