This has been a lifesaver for us. We really want our son to still do quiet time when he doesn't nap and were struggling, he loves staying in his room and listening to his stories. We went with the Yoto vs Tonies box due to the cost of the cards which are much less expensive than the tonies figurines.

We are all enjoying the Yoto! We like the radio, listening to the daily podcast, and listening to audio books. The kids love it and is adults enjoy how independent our 3 and 5 year old can be and knowing everything is kid-friendly and safe for young ears. We will definitely be adding to our card collection for Christmas and birthdays from here on out to keep enjoying it.

I am surprised at the price, for 70$ this toy is a steal!
We use it every day! Its like audible for kids. You can use headphones to listen to in the car, or just play it out loud! Surprisingly good volume for such a small speaker, and the book selection is great for kids! Plus a daily podcast and multiple other additional fun things for kids to enjoy daily and SAFELY! No way for them to access anything you don’t want them to. And you control it on your phone. We adore the yoto mini
My child loves this device and we love it too because she isn’t exposed to a screen and lot’s of stimulating graphics, but she still gets to listen to stories and songs. She takes every opportunity to listen to stories and it’s very easy for her to control. She loves the independence it creates as well. Great value for money considering the design and functionality.

A non-tech savvy mum review
The product works great but unfortunately it was not easy to figure out nor did it include all the necessary user friendly instructions. All it had was a card saying ro get the App. The App only tells you that you can tap cards on the phone or Yoto to download. No more information. We had so much issue figuring out. After days emailing support and a youtube video we finally can enjoy using it.
If you tap cards on the phone. They only work on the phone. You still need to swticth on yoto. Wait a little then ad each card at a time. Wait until it loads and play then the yoto will start to download them for offline play. You need to keep it on and both the phone and yoto connected to wifi for all the cards to download (took a whole day, check in player settings) and only then you can use it to play cards directly and offline. Yes its easy but unfortunately no such instructions were included. Its being used by my 17 month old and she loves it. Beautiful device. You MUST get a protective jacket though
This is the second Yoto that we’ve purchased. The one that we’ve had for 6 months has really great sound, very clear, no issues. This one sounds like the speaker has been blown - returning and hoping the next one we order isn’t the same. Love Yoto, just think we got a dud

Cannot say enough how great this is! Doesn’t take up a lot of space and the whole family can enjoy! Can play straight from your phone too. I think it has better options than the other players out there.
Perfect for our kids to listen in bed
We bought this for our wee boy, after our daughter loves hers. They are great for night time listening, great for travel and are so easy to play set stories, radio, shows and your own stories

These are great, my kids love them. And we, as parents, love them too. Takes the pressure off reading to the kids every night religiously.
Having the app to control these is so useful, we use the app to choose stories and set timers to try and promote getting off to sleep.
Ears instead of eyes
While the controls are a little minimalist, our 4 year old grandson would probably say “what’s wrong, I can manage to make it do everything I need”. I took a while to get comfortable with the (again) minimalist screen too, but then that is the whole point. We get so much of our stimuli through our eyes, it feels really important to teach the young to use their ears and Yoto is perfectly set up to do just that. Our daily dose of Jake and his podcast is always a great talking point and the books are well presented. Overall ready pleased with our purchase.
I don’t normally write reviews but this is one of mine & my daughters favorite items. I love the autonomy it gives her to change cards but also that it is so educational. You can tell it is high quality & will last a long time. I am so thankful to whoever invented this!

We all end up falling asleep together.
Great little thing they can keep on them and feel like they own themselves.

My daughter received this for Christmas. The Yoto mini is so easy to setup. She was listening to her stories right away. Carrying the Yoto all over the house and spending alone time just enjoying her gift. At 5 years old she could run just about every feature on the Yoto and knew how to plug it in to charge. Well built and rather wonderful for someone who loves stories.

It was very easy to use for my almost 3 year-old child, and she enjoys listening to stories. We do own a Toniebox as well, and she independently uses both, however the Yoto mini is very easy to carry around, and if we misplace the cards we can play them from the phone.

Fab Little Playe
Our 2 year old son loves his Yoto mini, he is able to control it independently and enjoys listening to the different story cards we have as well as the Yoto radio. We can manage the sound and other settings via the app so that it’s not to loud for his ears. The only thing we have had issues with is setting alarms as they don’t go off if the Yoto turns itself off after so many hours. We contacted Yoto about this and was told its not meant to operate as an alarm clock despite the website and app saying it can.
We would recommend this product to anyone.

Great for book lovers
My little boy, just turned 3, absolutely loves his books, so this seemed like a great idea for him, and he does love it. He hasn’t quite got to grips with the controls yet, but he’ll get there. The main thing is, he can take the cards out and put them in by himself.
The sound quality is really good. I love that it can be controlled on my phone via the app, and that I can also have the cards stored on the app as well. I’m sure this will be good for long car journeys.
The only a few things that have been slightly disappointing/annoying, is the battery life isn’t great, only lasting Christmas Day and Boxing Day before needing to be plugged in. This was after quite heavy use those days though. The on/off button on the side has to be pushed and held for several seconds to turn on or off, which is a concept my 3 year old doesn’t quite grasp yet, so I’m having to do this bit for him so far. The last thing is the range of cards isn’t that great. The majority of the Julia Donaldson books are available which is great, but there aren’t a lot of other classics, or popular children’s books available. Hopefully this will improve over time though.

My 3yo son absolutely loves it and he does go to sleep without listening to his favorite stories. Yoto mini is really convenient, highly recommended

J’ai achet ce produit pour mon petit de 4 ans et demi. Nous avions dj d’autres produits galement intressants mais celui-ci a un plus : il est facile d’utilisation pour notre petit qui s’endort en posant l’appareil prs de lui .. il change les cartes tout seul !
La cate Kidiko est top puisqu’il apprend plein de choses (mme nous d’ailleurs) et les autres cartes Bulle et Bob, mme si ils les connait maintenant trs bien aprs les avoir souvent coutes, l’endorment facilement ! Ce sont en effet des histoires courtes avec des petites chansons toutes simples mais qui facilitent le sommeil. Et comme il les connat dj, il n’est pas excit et il s’endort plus facilement.
Seul bmol (mais j’avais fait appel mon mari du coup) c’est la mise en route des cartes qui ncessite une connexion wifi pour une premire lecture … un peu compliqu et technique mais une fois qu’on a pass le moment d’agacement .. le rsultat en vaut la peine !
Autre bmol : on cherche de nouvelles cartes en franais mais il semble qu’il y ait plus de l’anglais pour le moment !
Great for the kid’s holiday!
This mini-Yoto is a great, portable, much smaller version of our full-size one and the kids (6&3) love it. It was in high-demand throughout a recent family trip to Spain, at the airport, on the plane, at the beach and in the villa, but remember to buy the protective case with it! It’s various functions seem to keep them interested, and it can be used quietly with headphones, if required, what’s not to like?

The yoto box is a way to engage children to read without having to let your voice go hoarse. I was looking for something to give my young reader (5yrs) something independent of mom or dad to fill her need to read.
It offers books on cards that can be bought or you can just buy some make your own cards and fill them with their favorite audio books with a little effort. The cards they make are a little pricy but are very well read.
Additionally you can set podcasts to listen to or song lists on the make your own cards.
Overall I enjoy that it was easy to set up and my child can use it without much of a learn curve.

My baby loves music and this is such a great option for her. Battery last forever and is so convenient for traveling.
My toddler loves his YOTO player! I had a few issues setting up the player and connecting it to wifi but now this is sorted, its really easy to use and my kid adores the Yoto daily podcast. There are a few features I wish it included – auto off after inactivity, ability to queue podcasts/stories but overall its great and keeps him happy and entertained without a screen.

This is an amazing little gadget. Currently stashed as a birthday present, but I am excited to give it and I think it will be very well received and handy for travelling.
Do the research on their website if you’re confused on what this is. Once you know I 100% recommend getting it. I’ve used both the large and the mini and love both. For travel I recommend the mini, we love it.
I didn’t know the Yoto Player existed when I bought a Toniebox I sure wish I had! My 2.5 year old who is obsessed with music loves his Yoto Mini. He quickly learned how to put the cards in and navigate the controls. The mini is the perfect size for his hands and for travel. The music Toniebox Characters are never in stock, and the music options are very limited (part of the problem with hand-painted figuresmuch easier to produce the Yoto cards it seems). The Yoto Player has TONS of options for music plus other content. The Yoto also displays images/icons for each song, which my son loves to look at. Furthermore, there’s access to a kid-friendly podcast and radio. The Yoto is a by far a much, much better deal with much more versatility.
This is very portable. It was tricky to set up the first time and I still don’t know how to get it working yet at a different wifi spot. But at home the kids use it daily. My 5yo loves listening to the daily podcast available even without the cards. There are often times activities and games in the daily podcast he would play along with. My 2 yo likes picking out which music card to listen to. Overall I think it’s a great screen alternative.

We use this with my 6 year old as a way to unwind before bed. Listening to soothing stories helps them drift off to sleep. Great bedtime tool for us

It was a gift for my young grandson. He loves it.
Got this for when I was too tired to read stories and for long road trips. It was such a success with my kids that they each wanted their own. The “make your own cards” were kind of tricky to figure out, but once I did, the kids made their own playlists for road-trips. Kind of like bringing mix tapes back!
The Yoto store has lots of books my 6yr old likes, and some good classic novels for my 9yr old. Hope they keep adding to their book card list!
