I got these for Beat Saber with the hope that they’d be able to give me a better grip, and they did, but the extra weight makes fast swings extremely difficult. My controllers also feel a bit loose when they’re in the grips. Occasionally, they’ll shake a little bit and cause bad cuts, which is definitely not ideal. So they’re sort of a bust for Beat Saber, but I’ve found that they can actually be much more useful for other games. The game I use these for now is Walkabout Mini Golf. I’ve found my swings are much more consistent with these.

    tl;dr
Not great for Beat Saber, but they work surprisingly well for golf.

I recently bought Beat Saber for my Oculus. I saw these extension grips and asked Amazon to review them.

I really liked using these extension grips and I did better with them. I could really feel these in my hands as opposed to just the controllers and thought I had more control. I didn’t find I was hitting anything in my room because of their length. The handles were sturdy and allowed for a full grip. The back strap secured it well to my hand. There is a button on the bottom that allows you to adjust the strap on the bottom.

I deducted one star because I wanted to use these without taking off my controller’s safety strap as suggested in the instructions. It took some time to figure out a workaround. I have attached a series of pictures showing how I was able to put the extension grip onto the Oculus controller without taking off the controller’s safety strap. I did not want to take the cord off because I use it for other apps. It took a number of tries to finally figure out that I couldn’t put the safety cord at the bottom of the extension grips’ handle. I ultimately figured out I could put it up the center of the controller. One other problem was that the extension grips don’t say whether they are for the left or right unless you look into the bottom of the extension grip’s handle, which is pretty dark. I can’t believe they didn’t just put it in a visible place. However, even without seeing the markings it soon becomes apparent which is which.

I really liked them once I found a way to keep the controller's safety strap o

These Quest 2 beat saber attachments are great. It makes the game feel way more enjoyable since you are able to hold onto something that feels more like a sword. The accessory feels very well built. It has very easy to follow instructions on how to attach the accessories to each of the controllers.

The grips aren’t my favorite. The way they feel in my hand is sort of awkward. It’s as though the native Oculus grips are contoured to fit my hand where as these are like a tube. The sword part looks neat but ultimately I’m going to stick with the original grips.

Let’s start with the basics. This order comes with all of the attachments needed to make two Beat Saber extensions on your Meta Quest controllers. Beat Saber is one of the more popular Quest games at the time of writing, and in that game you use light sabers to slice blocks in half that fly toward you, timed to the beat of the song that is playing. It’s quite fun, and has many levels of difficulty.

My initial impression when I first opened the package was that they looked a little cheap. I kind of expected that, so I wasn’t disappointed. The plastic is just ok quality, and on par with most accessories like this.

The intended use of this product is to give a cool factor to the controllers while you play a slicing game (like Beat Saber or Fruit Ninja). Installation is fairly straightforward, but with a few quirks. First, it’s really hard to find where they printed R and L on the handle grips- it’s inside the grip at the very bottom. You can also refer to my photo for the correct orientation. First you put the blade into the blade guard (warning- one time installation). The blue goes into the right guard, red into the left. Then you put the blade guard assembly into the controller oval, grabber arm first. Then you put the base of the controller into the handle grip. Here they recommend that you ‘remove’ your stock controller strap as it will “affect the touch controller to be put into the grip holder.” It is possible to unhook that strap (by taking off the battery cover), but it’s kind of a pain to do that every time you want to add the sabers. Luckily, you can keep the controller straps on and still install the handle if you carefully push the straps to the side and slowly force the grip in. Then you line up the front dial, twist, and it’s locked in place. It’s pretty easy to put on and remove at will.

As soon as I assembled them, I realized that they gave me an unexpected bonus- a sturdier grip. The silicone side strap is surprisingly comfortable and easily adjustable to your hand. It made me wonder why the Quest grips don’t come from the factory like that. Also, knowing that you have those ‘sabers’ in your hands has a psychological effect and makes the game more fun. It also adds a small new challenge since the blades can hit each other. It’s more fun for onlookers to watch you swing those sabers too.

For the value that you get out of this product, I feel that this price is a little high, but not unreasonable. As I mentioned before, most products in this category are a little overpriced, and not made to withstand years of abuse.

Overall, I decided to give this product 4 stars. I chose that rating because for that price, I would hope for a little bit more quality. Since you will probably want to put on and remove these repeatedly, I worry that the grabber arm will break at some point, rendering them useless. I also wish that the blades themselves didn’t feel quite as cheap as they do. But the grips that you get really do feel like an added bonus and you might even want to make them a permanent fixture. I hope that you found this review helpful. Enjoy your day!

I wanted a setup that made me feel like I was swinging a saber more in beat saber. This set helps to add more weight balance to my controllers. The handles have a good soft feel to them. The bottoms stand well on flat tables when not in use. I love how the hand straps have a quick release pull strap indicated by the black ring at the bottom. Easy to assemble and remove if you need to switch it to a different setup for different games. Highly recommended.

As soon as these arrived in the mail, I attached them to my Oculus controllers and hopped in a round of Beat Saber to try them out.

They work. The handle feels substantial in your hand, which is nice. I used to play Beat Saber on a HTC Vive, and I missed the wand-controllers. So, the white handles here definitely fit that purpose.

Unlike other beat saber handles I’ve tried, these go “all the way” up the controller, so your hand still can reach the buttons and triggers. This is important – if you’re already used to playing beat-saber, you want your hand to be close to the place it would normally be holding the controller, otherwise your spatial memory will be off, and timing off too. But because these place your hand where it would normally be, it’s not hard to get used to in game.

Probably the best feature is the vertical strap that runs along the side. Like the modern HTC controllers, this allows you to fully let go of the controller and have it stay attached to your hand. As someone with big hands, I always felt the oculus controllers were a bit small, but having this feature means I don’t have to worry about dropping them.

Now, this kit also has some questionable features. They have two ‘sabers’ that attach to the top. These are almost entirely pointless – if you’re in VR, you won’t be able to see them. But what’s worse, because they stick out so far, it’s more likely you’ll smash into stuff. I live in a somewhat small apartment. I can play beat saber normally just fine, but with these red/blue extensions I found myself smashing into things on my table.

Also, the song requires you to cross your hands quickly, the two plastic sabers will just collide into each other.

So, pretty pointless. The only real purpose for them would be to show other people you’re playing beat saber. So if you have a big place to play and wanna show off, I guess it works for that.

Luckily, you don’t have to attach them, and can just use the white circles that hold the controller in. I tried playing without the white circles, but the controller started slipping out of the handle. So, gotta keep those on.

As far as built quality, the handles are made out of a normal game-controller quality plastic. Probably less than the actual oculus controllers, but still a mid-tier plastic. The sabers are made out of a cheap, oily plastic, similar to something you might find at a Halloween custom store. You know the kind of shiny plastic I mean.

It’s fine tho, I just consider the red/blue sabers as a bonus, and they don’t need to be fancy. The handles themselves feel fine, though.

So do I recommend them? Well, if you have big hands and the price looks okay to you, then they feel more substantial. If you don’t have a problem with the oculus controllers out of the box, then you can probably skip. They do work, but the red/blue plastics are pointless unless you’re showing off.

    Solid, but overkill?

i recently purchased a quest and the game beat saber but found it wasn’t catching my movements correctly for whatever reason and i will say this was a life saver. it was a smidge difficult to set up and it wasn’t really formulated for you to have straps on your quest controllers so i stuffed mine and anticipate it will be a little hard to get off but they do what they are supposed to and helped the system immensely. though they are plastic they seem sturdy and comfortable to hold

Hooks up to the remotes rather easily.
When playing the game the sabers attached to the remotes extends too far into the game causing some confusion where to cut in boxes in beat saber.
Kids said it’s Fun to add to the remote for looks that’s about all.

    Fun accessory for beat sabe

I like that they are lightweight, but still enough to feel like I am holding a sword. They are safe because there are no sharp points. They are also easy to install and the grips are comfortable. Overall, these upgrade the experience of playing Fruit Ninja, and I am sure they will be great when I get other games to use them with.

These are so nice to have for Beat Saber! The grandkids love these. The size is perfect. Not to short, but not long enough to destroy the house! The comfortable grips were an added bonus. The installation is easy enough for the kids to do themselves. This is definitely an improvement for the Beat Saber game, and i would imagine any games that use swords. Definitely would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis item doesn’t just add plastic “swords” to your Oculus/Meta Quest 2 controllers, it also adds a nice palm grip and adjustable straps. Said straps are also very comfortable to use, I never once used the wrist straps on the default controller, but the straps on this one feel great and secure.

The extra weight and weight balance these grips provide actually do make it easier to play Beat Saber, as well as any other game that uses swords/sabers. It seems a little silly, but it does a great job of tricking your mind into moving your hands differently and more accurately. If you play in a stationary boundary, beware that you’ll need a bit more space than you’re used to!

Installation was straight forward and easy. You just drop your Quest 2 controller into the corresponding grip, then attach the top section using a plastic clip on one side, under the bottom of the ring, and the other side has a closing mechanism to tighten down with.

    Improved feel and extra comfort.

Wow! Who would have thought there would be such a difference in the experience when you add in an accessory to your controllers. These really beef up the sensation that you truly are wielding a sword or a light saber. The weight in my hand is perfect and is nicely offset with the controller’s weight. They are very grippy and as they are plastic, there’s not a huge chance you’re going to put a hole in your wall if you accidentally fling it off while playing.

I like that these also just genuinely give you that enhanced experience without any serious or expensive upgrades. Plus, if you want your controllers back to normal, simply detach. Too easy.

My husband purchased these as a birthday gift for his nephew who got a Meta/Oculus VR system for his birthday. My husband says he wishes the extensions had a stronger appearance/looked nicer but overall the grips are good.

For Beat Saber, I’ve been using my older Vive VR headset with the long handle wand controllers versus using my newer Quest 2 because I really don’t like how the short, stubby Quest 2 controllers feel with games where you wield a sword.

The AMVR extension grips work great to solve this issue. With the grips added, the Quest 2 controllers end up the same length as the Vive controllers (see pic for comparison).

Easy to install and uninstall these extension grips. Construction is good. The only negative I have is that the handles are a little thicker than I would like but overall makes Beat Saber a more immersive and enjoyable experience on the Quest 2.

    Definite improvement for Beat Saber!

So, it’s not exactly what I was expecting, the larger grips are good for people with massive hands, and the silicone straps feel pretty comfortable, but that doesn’t override that the overall design feels flimsy, and though the controller casing gives nice, and much needed weight to the controller, it’s all in the wrist because the blades weigh absolutely nothing, I also have concerns about the connection between the blade mounts and the rest of the case, I’m a little worried it’s gonna damage controllers. Though it is exactly what I paid for and is pretty cost effective so I appreciate that. So for the price I paid 3.5 outta 5 (round up)

They are compatible and work just fine. They do have a good grip also they are not long which you can use on a small place within your circle. But they do look cheap.

After using these in beat saber a few times, I don’t like to play it without them. As for the actual blue/red extensions, I don’t usually use them; I hit things more with them on and they are so lightweight that they don’t make a difference. However, I like the straps of the grip over my hands as they add a level of security that I prefer. Assembly was a little hairy because they were initially hard to push over the handles and their buttons all the way. It’s gotten easier over time, though – I assume due to repeated use and slight stretching.

Here is my review about AMVR’S New product!

Super excited to finally have something that makes me feel as if im actually swinging a sword than just using the quest 2 controllers. Folks-This is what you been searching for.

This product is everything when it comes to bringing immersion to beat saber, blades of sorcery and so many others.

Product set up was super easy and took less than 30 seconds to put together- the build quality was very impressive and all together it felt a good weight when swinging around.

AMVR has never disappointed me and im very excited to add this one to my vr rack of accessories.

A much safer way than using a real sword in VR!

The AMVR Upgraded Extension Grips for Beat Saber Handles works well for my Beat Saber game. The grips require some assembly but they are very secure for vigorous execution of the games. The added weight also provides a more immersive experience and feel. It also impresses your spectators by holding something resembling a saber. Adding lighting effects would have been cool but this feature is not included.
