The APLOS AP120 Dive Light, 12000 Lumen, Underwater 492ft, Scuba Diving Flashlight with Rechargeable Batteries and Charger is excellent. It is solid, well made, really waterproof without spots like on/off button or USB connector to allow the water going inside and it is extremely bright.

I collect flashlights and really liked the fact that the seller did not claimed a crazy amount of lumens in the advertisement and looks like the manufacturer followed the ANSI/NEMA FL 1 standard to measure the flashlight luminous flux.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a luximeter to measure the actual flashlight LED lumens/flux yet, but by comparison of the beam luminous flux with a Aplos AP60 flashlight, I can estimate this flashlight is around 8,000 to 10,000 lumens, see the attached comparison pictures. Also, as of today this is the brightest flashlight in my collection of 20+ flashlights.

I measured the real current capacity of both 26650 batteries using a reliable digital battery charger and the results were 5,256 mAh and 5,111 mAh, confirming that the battery capacity specified by the manufacturer is correct.

For the flashlight LED brightness, battery quality and waterproof capability, I definitely recommend this flashlight. 5 stars.

    Excellent Flashligh

Disclaimer: I intend to use this flashlight for terrestrial purposes rather than as a dive light, so consider that when assessing my review.

The light is fairly bright. I’m not sure it’s “12,000 lumens” bright, but it certainly lights up a room. The beam has quite a bit of spread to it.

Running under its brightest setting, this flashlight does get warm. Of course, if the user were underwater while operating it, as the manufacturer intends, the water itself would cool it down, so I can’t really count this as an engineering flaw per se.

The rotating sleeve-type switch to select the flashlight’s mode of operation works pretty well. The chassis seems robust, and I hope it will be able to take a reasonable amount of wear and abuse.

I will update this review as I put this light through its paces, but my initial impressions are that it might be a decent light for the money.

This light is so damn bright! It will light up an entire acre like a football stadium. It gets really hot quickly! I like how you can charge the battery.

So bright that its unpractical 🙂 blinds you and as you can see, scares away the fish..poor grouper!

I took this light on 19 saltwater dives so far and as deep as 130FT (max recreational depth). Worked flawlessly!

So knowing this torch is for diving and the sea is very dark we were hoping this was going to be good as walking the dog in the woods in the night and with winter drawing in the nights a lot quicker this was perfect and was so bright, was easy to charge up and has different settings either light always on or different sets of flashes.

We took this to the back yard on a dark night to try to show how much illumination this flashlight is capable of. Other than saying “yeah, it’s really bright” (it is!) And that is a nice flashlight, i think the other reviews I’ve read cover more of the technical stuff, so hopefully my video/ picture will help.

For the picture, if you look closely, you can see my husband’s outline to the right of the light; he’s holding the flashlight and showing how much of the back yard it lights up.

We’re very happy with this flashlight!

    Very bright!

This torch is very, very bright. I would advise not to look at it when on full brightness.

It comes in a smart case along with a battery charger, charging cable, wrist strap and some spare ring seals for the battery compartment. Also in the package is a gift of a nice leather keyring.

It is of metal construction with a rotating ring at the front to switch it on and select up to four different brightness levels plus a fast strobe, SOS flash and slow strobe.

The two 5000mAh batteries can be accessed by unscrewing the end of the barrel.

This torch is a serious bit of kit and the brightest I have ever seen.

Wow, this is a very bright torch

I ordered this torch to use in the car for emergencies to replace a different one that I was using as this comes in a practical and tough case which I can attach to the side of my boot area.
On opening, the first thing I noticed was a very sturdy looking plastic case which holds all of the parts in one safe place. Inside the case is a fantastic looking torch, a divers wrist strap plus a leather strap, rechargeable batteries and a charger, since this is a divers torch it can’t have a charging port, therefore the batteries do need to be removed and charged using the supplied charger before replacing into the torch, although I’m yet to recharge mine as the batteries seem to be lasting very well.
The torch itself is made from a very solid steel and feels hard wearing while being comfortable to hold, it has a simple turn dial to operate the LED lights which is much quicker and easier to use than a repetitive pressing of a button to go through the different modes as with my other divers torch.
Operating this is simple enough, just turn the front dial to the relevant position to switch between different brightnesses and flashing functions. When set to the full brightness the light thats emitted from the LED bulbs is nothing short of ultra bright, it quite simply has to be the brightest torch or even work light that I have ever come across, for me this is going to be ideal when needed as it’s often raining and dark so I don’t have to worry about the torch getting wet and dying on me and the darkness has no chance against this amazing light output. It was hard to show just how bright the light from this torch is in my photo, all can can say is that it’s like a burst of sunlight.
If this were to be used for its primary purpose of diving then it would have no problem in cutting through the dimness of the depths and the casing is fully water tight so no problems with ingress into the electronics.
This is a solidly built, robust and versatile lighting device so I have no problem in recommending it.

APLOS AP120 12000 Lumen Dive Torch is an absolutely insanely powerful torch!
Super well made this torch could be used as a hammer and it wouldn’t break. It comes in a smart little storage box. This torch looks smart and although it is on a slightly larger side it does not feel too heavy.

Although this is a diving torch I needed something to walk the dogs through the field that would have a wide and long range. This torch is just that ! You get 3 settings for power as well as strobe and SOS option.

Battery life is fantastic and you this torch is worth every penny you pay for it. I am happy to 10000% recommend it.

I have been using this torch for the several days, and I have to say, I am very impressed. The construction is solid, and the quality of the light is excellent, with a good range of brightness settings. Its very effective and simple, rotary dial near the head controls the light level. It certainly has a good light output. It works well and gets the job done. It has a good weight to it and good for transporting. Easy to use and functions well. For the price I was expecting more.

Over all im super happy and really happy to recommend. It is very pricey, costs more than I would normally pay but the bonus is that is waterproof aswell so perfect not just for camping and hiking but even diving but I would recommend it.

    Expensive but really good

I am really impressed how bright this torch is.
There is no real need to use the torch on the highest setting out of the water as it is just too bright to use it.
Underwater it will be a great torch at night, but I haven’t used it yet.
When used out of the water, the torch gets hot around the top where you have the LEDs.
When you use it underwater ,the water cools it down.
The torch is really well sealed to be used underwater and the cap at the end of the handle has 3 O-ring seals on different places to keep the water out.
The cap is not easy to take off just because the seals are sealing really good.
The torch is a bit heavy and made from aviation grade aluminum, which makes it really sturdy, solid piece that will last.
The torch comes with 2x5000mAh 26650 rechargeable batteries.
There is also a charger for the batteries,a charging cable, spare sealing rings,a wrist strap, a user manual and a great storage case.
The price of 189.99 looks like a high price for a torch, but when you take into account what you actually get for the money – it is a fair price.
    Recommend it.

Hopefully my review was Helpful for you.

I have done scuba diving before but never experienced night time diving or caves/wreck exploration, I could see this being a great bit of equipment for your deep water adventures.
I have done a little research into these diving
torches and the price of 149.99 seems to be a
    fair price!
Made very well and feels very robust!
Comes in it’s own protective carry case with usb
lead for the battery charger to recharge the
batteries (battery barrel type C x2), charging time is quick. From one full charge I got about a couple of hours constant use, I just left it on the brightest setting until it switched off, I wanted to test and see how long you would get, its so very bright ( 12000 lumens to be exact ), strongest light I’ve ever seen. Making this an ideal torch for deep diving, any sort of work under water.

Really nice magnetic mechanism for changing the light settings by twisting the head of the light, is smooth, clicks nicely into place.
Good to know info about battery usage
    * Low: 25.8 h
    * Medium: 5 h
    * High: 2 h
    * Turbo: 1.6 h
    * Strobe: 2.3 h
    * SOS: 3.5h
    * Beacon: 30 h
It is quiet a hefty piece, that to me says quality,
comes with the wrist strap so you don’t drop
this when diving the depths, capable of
going down to 150m, also extra waterproof washers.
It is the sort of torch you would buy specifically for scuba diving, but would also come in very handy for many other situations too! Like exploring caves on land, camping, hiking, security work.
    Great quality piece!

Another good quality is that you get a 2 year
    warranty.

This can certainly shine the in distance 🔦

This torch does have a bright light. It is well engineered and durable. It does work when underwater but I haven’t tested it to the claimed limits. The carrying case is good. Obviously it is a lot more expensive than the average torch but it does perform well.

A premium torch at a premium price.

Everything about it in no compromise premium materials and quality. It’s solid without being overly heavy, premium build quality and even nice to look at.

Comes with a 2 year guarantee.

Water proof to 150m and comes with spare O rings. Very nice silky smooth magnetic rotary switch for selecting light modes.

Has flashing and beacon modes as well as 4 brightness. Brightness one is plenty bright enough for normal illumination and on brightness 4 it is extremely bright, it also gets pretty hot out of water and the batteries last less than 2 hours in this mode.

Battery life in all but the last 2 brightness modes is very good, I guess you would just use the brightest modes for short periods anyway.

You also get a lanyard and very nice leather carrying strap.

Some reviews are saying the box isn’t great which I really don’t understand. The box is literally perfect, compact but holds the torch and all accessories firmly with foam padding for protection. It sounds like people want a fancy gift box but surely people who would use this torch are more practical than that?

A perfect torch, the only question is how much better is it than driving torches that sell for 60? I’m afraid I don’t know the answer.

As good as torches get at a premium price.

I got this APLOS AP120 Dive Light as one of the two required for night diving and used it as my primary for 3 dives now.

There are a lot of good things to say about the light, however the one negative is that the control of the light is not secure – when I use this in the lowest setting (which I needed to do because divers ahead of me stirred up a lot of sediment and there were a lot of particles in the water already, kind of like fog) it kept bumping off. This is a big deal as I wanted to focus on diving, not on checking to see if my light was working. I finally switched it to the brightest setting before strobe and it stayed on, but that first one was just not a solid position.

The light is easy to grip and the multiple brightness settings plus a variety of strobes are really nice to have. The light is very bright, so much that on the brightest setting it hurt my eyes reflecting off sand or light colored metal objects under the water. In clear water, you will be able to see a great distance with this light, and a dive buddy will be able to easily see you.

The storage case is really awesome and one of my favorite features. It would be easy to do damage to the light if tossed in with all your other gear but with a case you know it is safe. I am probably going to reconfigure the padding to hold my other light as well since I keep all the chargers at home.

The company included a free gift which was really a nice key chain. My husband and I still have not decided who will get to use it 😀

Unfortunately I did not have a way to capture any underwater photos of the light in use, however the other reviews with those underwater pics are quite accurate. The seal is excellent, but I would advise you to keep little packs of silicone grease for o-rings in your dive bag. You want to always make sure the threads are clean and the o-rings lightly lubricated to ensure no water gets into the battery compartment. The instructions say to lubricate the O-rings after opening – we did not provided they were clean and still had some grease on them but it will help prevent problems if you do.

On land, this dive light becomes a strong flashlight. It has an automatic control to decrease power if it gets too hot so it can be used safely as a multipurpose light. We used it for at least an hour this last dive to help everyone locate their gear and pack up in the dark as everyone forgot lamps. We had no issue with overheating but I will say it does get pretty warm after a while.

So, to recap, the dive light is awesome and I hope the manufacturer will fix the issue with the too-easily twisted control. If that were fixed I would consider this the perfect light.

    Good Light, Control Not Firm

This piece of kit is really something — I don’t think I’ve ever seen a torch so bright. The torch arrived in a good quality plastic hard shell box with foam cut outs for the items that would easily survive a bit of a drop. Inside the box is the torch (AP120), a USB battery charger with cable, x2 rechargeable 26650 batteries (already inside the torch — totalling 5000mAh), a wrist strap, x4 spare O rings, an instruction manual and a bonus key ring. It is worth noting that the batteries are already in the torch but you have to remove a small bit of cardboard so the connections can touch properly. Interestingly, the torch has a colour temperature of 5000-5300k similar to daylight.

There are 7 settings indicated by roman numerals that you can get to by using the rotary twist switch to the font end of the torch (can be turn both clockwise and anticlockwise); this includes 4 brightness levels and 3 function light and each last various amount of time on a full battery charge; I’ve listed these below:
    * Low (350 lumens) — lasts 25.8 hours
    * Medium (1800 lumens) — lasts 5 hours
    * High (5000 lumens) — lasts 2 hours
    * Turbo (12000 lumens) — lasts 1.6 hours
    * Strobe — lasts 2.3 hours
    * SOS — lasts 3.5 hours
    * Beacon — lasts 30 hours

The torch casing is made of aviation grade aluminium alloy and has an array of 6 LED bulbs protected with a tempered glass lens. Due to the nature of glass and aluminium they are both resistant to oxidisation, abrasion and seawater corrosion.

The torch is quite obviously premium with its semi-gloss black anodization and is very well made. It feels extremely robust and is not the lightest torch to carry but it really can illuminate objects hundreds of metres away! Although I can’t confirm the exact distance, it certainly clearly lit up all the country lanes we tested it in.

When testing on land we found that the torch did get very hot but mainly at the top two brightness settings and to be honest you only really need the medium level of brightness in most cases anyway — it will be more than enough.

The ergonomics of the torch are very good in and out of gloves and it comes with a wrist strap which is important when diving in case you need both hands.

My partner who does recreational scuba diving (down to around 60m depth) suggested this was more of a sport / hobby torch rather than for use in a professional setting as they probably wouldn’t take care of it in the same way. He did say he would want a backup light in case of any issues though and he will be testing it out thoroughly in sea water next year.

Due to the nature of needing to be completely waterproof for diving purposes there isn’t a port into the torch itself and the O rings are there to enhance the waterproof performance which do need to be greased to maintain the seal. The torch is certified to be waterproof and withstand pressures of up to 150 metres below water.

Apart from the obvious use of diving, the torch can be used for on land activities such as camping, night hikes and cave exploration.

When charging the device, it doesn’t take a good while to charge fully and it would be have been useful to have some kind of battery level indicator but this may not be possible due to the nature of the device.

At the time of writing the torch is priced at 189.99 with a 10 off voucher until the 14th December 2022. I do believe in this case you get what you pay for. Yes, it’s not cheap by any means but this is a premium piece of kit and it comes with a two-year warranty so I would definitely recommend this torch! I would imagine it would last a lifetime if cared for correctly.

If this isn’t max 12000LM I am not sure what is. Need tactical advantage here you go lol. This thing is like a night sun. It is extremely bright. If you don’t want 12k LM it has 4 brightness setting on the rotary switch and I suggest you use the lower ones. While this is a very bright flashlight, it does not have anyway to passively or actively cool itself and it will get very hot, pretty fast, like in 10 to 15 minutes. This flashlight is sold as a diving flashlight and rightly so, since the water will keep it cool, or Alaska 🙂 It is a very impressive flashlight, the strobe setting is unreal. It will blind anyone 50 to 100 feet away. I do not find the price to be unreal in the sense of the quality of the build, features, and it’s use for cave diving etc. They have paid a lot of attention to triple seal the head and butt of it so it won’t leak from 80m depth. They state 150m I didn’t test it that deep. I have no doubts that what you see stated on the page is indeed what your getting. My only concern was the amount of heat on turbo. So just be aware of that fact. Comes in a nice hard plastic case for storage which is encased in that gray foam. Also comes with a dual battery charger, 2 5000 mAh 3.7 volt 26650 li-ion batteries. And a lanyard. If your not sure why the rubber tube is on the lanyard, it is because stuff in water sea water especially makes things slippery, the rubber tube once cinched around your wrist, is not going to slip off. Again the little details like that is what makes this a awesome dive flashlight.

Sorry bright and water resistant, love this flashlight, small, powerful, reliable, big battery, and can be used or of the water for a while until it gets hot, then it will soon down to protect the electronics.
The battery charger is external to avoid connections that can cause water intrusions, it has triple oring seal, multiple led, well focused beam, string aluminum body, very satisfied with this one.

Be sure to read the bottom to see how I rate products.

To say this flashlight is bright would be an understatement. It has to be the brightest flashlight I’ve ever owned and I have a lot of them. It uses the larger 3.7 volt batteries so I did have high expectations and they were met and surpassed. Turning it on and off is very simple and is done by turning the front of the flashlight, which is perfect for a gloved hand. It has multiple brightness modes, SOS and a flicker mode.

I have not yet tested it underwater but can tell from the construction that this will not be an issue.

Overall I am very pleased with this flashlight and expect it will do very well. If there are any issues down the road I will come back to amend this review.

    How I rate products:

When I give a rating to a product said product automatically starts with four or five stars as I rarely will purchase anything below four stars. I then subtract stars based on certain criteria as listed below.

    1. If an item is exactly what I expected and nothing more it will receive a four- or five-star rating. The difference between the two is a bit subjective but is also based on the information on the Detail Page, customer service (if necessary), good instruction manual, etc.
    2. If an item surpasses my expectations, it will definitely receive five-stars and an extra callout
    3. If an item goes slightly below my expectations, it will lose a star (3 Stars)
    4. If the instructions for the product (if needed) are poorly written (hard to understand due to language issues or grammar) or just too hard to follow it will lose a star no matter if the product meets or exceed my expectations. I hate poorly written instructions
    5. If a product is significantly below my expectations, I will deduct two stars
    6. It will be rare that I would give a product one star since I buy mostly items that have a 4+ rating but in rare instances there may be a good reason that even a four-star product receives a one star rating from me. It could be because of customer service issues from the company but whatever the case is I will clearly explain my reason for giving a product only one star

Additionally, if a product fails over a short time period I will come back and update my review but will also take into consideration how the company’s customer service handles the repair or replacement. I understand that issues sometime arise, even with the best of products and a rating update may not be necessary.

I have used this torch a few times around the house now for diy jobs and in the garden and it is bright! It is marketed is an under water torch but no reason why it cannot be used like a normal torch. It is very powerful, has a few different modes including flashing (careful any epilepsy sufferers!) and he battery life is great. It comes in a very sturdy black carrybox that stores everything neatly. Would make a great gif

I will stay right off the bat that this is the best flashlight I have ever owned. Not only the brightest but the most heavily built and the most waterproof.

You may be surprised at how big and heavy this thing is. I was, for sure.

The case that it comes in reflects the quality of the flashlight itself. Inside the case you’ll find everything you need, including two different sizes of o-rings for replacements and inside the flashlight two 5000 milliamp hour batteries.

To get to those batteries takes a nice strong wrist because you are unscrewing an end that is protected with three o-rings. There’s a little plastic tag on the end of the batteries that you take off.

I was surprised the batteries were almost fully charged and I could use the light immediately.

This thing is really like carrying around a headlight in your hand, it just gets amazingly bright.

It also gets hot if you leave it on the brightest setting for a while, as expected.

But for a diver that wants the best, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

Even if you aren’t a diver and you just want to have the best and brightest flashlight with great economics and a wonderful switch. This is the one

This is not only a great diving light but you can also use it any emergency situation ..

it’s got rechargeable batteries and the actual recharger – it comes in a kit that’s easy to locate in your closet or storage area.

This Dive light is good for beginners, intermediate to advanced cave tech divers, as well as search and rescue teams and people that just wanna have a light that is completely waterproof in case you wanna go out into the rain and not have to worry about it getting ruined..

It has 3 different options for – and it is so bright – better than any regular flashlight on the market, the only thing is it gets a little bit warm when you’re not using it underwater so just keep that in mind –
you’re gonna have to turn it off every once in a while and let it cool down if you’re using it in a non-water situation.
But that’s because it is a dive light.

This light performed better than my emergency lights in hurricane Ian , I was happy to have this!!

It is my favorite dive light and emergency light. It is what I will be grabbing first.

This torch is 200mm long, 60mm at the light end and 40mm at the rear of the handle, and it weighs quite a bit too.
It boast of having 12000 lumens and offers 5 settings in all. These settings changed by twist the end of the torch where the bulbs are. They range from a dim(ish) light to a blinding light which could easily light up the night sky, almost.
It claims to be waterproof up to 150metres. Well, I’ve not dived that deep so I can’t say whether it is true but what I can say is that I’ve dropped this in water, leaving it there for a while and, once taken out, it worked perfectly well, as good as ever. So I should handle the day to day rain which falls in the UK.
There’s a shoe string type strap which pushes through the slot at the rear of the torch, this is so that if you drop this during a dive, or out on the street, it’s not going to go far. If you drop it without the strap then it’s going to sink like a brick.
It comes with 2 batteries, (both needed at one time) and a battery charger. This does NOT allow for charging the batteries in situ, you have to take them out and slot them in the charger. They take a few hours to charge but once charged there’s hours and hours of light. (Depending on settings)
It feels solid on the hand, weighing just over a KG, giving you a little comfort in its quality of use.
In all, a bright waterproof torch which you can take diving with you but if you don’t dive you can still use this as a normal torch, but watch out, as it is much brighter than you’d think.

I’ll be completely honest here: I got this torch as a free-to-review item on Amazon Vine. I am a big fan of super-bright LED torches but I would never consider paying this amount for a torch. However, I’m not a diver and this torch is made specifically for divers, so I’m not saying, if you want it for that specific purpose, that it is not worth it. It says it is waterproof to 150m – a claim I am never, personally, going to put to the test but, if you are a diver, that would probably be a very significant feature.
The torch comes in a solid plastic carrying case with a foam insert with custom cutouts to keep everything safely in place during transit. You get the torch itself, the two rechargeable batteries it requires plus a battery charger and the USB cable to plug this into a power source. You get a long, sturdy wrist strap too and a few spare O rings for the waterproof seal.
The torch is larger than the standard LED torch, longer – it wouldn’t fit in your pocket if you were taking it out hiking or something. It’s got a sleek, black shiny finish and certainly looks the part (though I can’t help thinking that, if you did end up dropping it when driving, being black, it’d be pretty impossible to find again. Shouldn’t it have some reflective colour stripes on it or something?)
Rather than a switch or push-button control to turn it on, it has a ring just below the lamp end that you turn. It has four levels of brightness – the brightest being called turbo which is definitely very bright! Then you have a ‘strobe’ effect which, honestly, just hurts my eyes. It seems that the 6 LEDs aren’t timed to flash at the same time so you just get this odd flickery pattern. Then there is an SOS and a beacon which are both flashing functions.
Whilst I like the turning ring to select the shine function, as opposed to the sort where you have to press a button six or seven time to cycle through every possible function just to turn the light off again; here you quickly just turn the ring back to off. I find it a little counterintuitive to work it like that and it will take some getting used to.
I have only given this 4 stars and here’s my problem (apart from the huge price). Most LED torches have a ‘focussing’ function where you pull the glass cover in and out to focus all the power of the light on one far spot for more detailed viewing. Like if you want to read a road sign a long way ahead or check a house number at the end of a long drive. Because this torch has the turning control ring up by the glass end , it isn’t possible to have that part pull in and out so they have sacrificed the focusing function which, personally, I find disappointing. I appreciate that this is a diving torch and so you’re paying for functions and features that I, as a non-diver won’t be using, but for this price I’d expect every possible good feature so, for me, the lack of the focusing takes it down to 4 stars, though it’s still a really good, bright torch.

Very expensive but a good torch specialised for diving.

It feels, looks and preforms with pure quality this is an amazing torch. Its a perfect torch to have when scuba diving and a great asset when cave exploration as the light it beams out on turbo is immense, it’s also ideal for night fishing or night hiking and hopefully it never happen but if you did get stuck up a mountain it has a beacon that could possibly identify where you are if can’t get a signal with your mobile I do like that this has been tested and published on the durability of how long the battery life will last on each mode and its good to know it also has a two year guarantee. This is such a quality item it’s expensive but it’s definitely worth its money and I do without hesitation highly recommend this

The Aplos dive torch is supplied in a very serviceable plastic case which houses the torch itself, the USB C battery charger/ cable (USB A to C) and a lanyard.

The torch is reassuringly heavy, weighing it at around 560g with batteries. The Magnetic rotary switch which supports improved reliability underwater, is actuated via a large selector ring, which is easily manipulated wearing gloves. The ring allows selection of the 7 available modes, take care here as many of these are extremely bright, and the strobe can be brutal, don’t shine this anywhere you shouldn’t!

While I can’t comment on the validity of the claim that the torch can handle depths of 150m, it certainly is very functional underwater. I’ve used it in fresh water which is at times very cloudy, and the claimed up to 12000lm cuts through the murk, aided by the SIX high power LEDs.

While it is pricey you get what you pay for, and in this case, the extra peace of mind that comes with the offered “worry free 24-month warranty”.

    So bright....

Other than the provided charger which seems very basic (and lightweight) the torch works very well and can illuminate a good distance.

On the top two brightness levels it gets pretty hot (not a problem if scuba diving) but for most of the time the lower settings are fine and of course you will get a longer burn time.

Hopefully next year I will be able to take it scuba diving where putting in in fresh water and operating the rotary magnetic switch is a must to avoid corrosion.

No complaints and the only extra which would have been nice is a battery level indication perhaps by a flashing light code.

This is the first high-end dive flashlight that I’ve purchased which comes in its own custom-fit carrying case. It gives you the impression that this is a precision tool designed for reliability and performance. The 12,000 lumens of rated light output also impresses, and for those times where you don’t require the full 12.000 lumens the three lower-intensity settings the flashlight supports give this dive light a lot of versatility.

While I purchased this dive light to use on an upcoming trip to Hawaii, I also think I can use this around the house, or keep it in the car, and I will definitely take it with me when camping in the mountains because this rechargeable flashlight can work indefinitely on the lowest setting without getting hot, and it is rated at over 25 hours of light output between charges when used on the lowest brightness. That is fantastic and saves you money on disposable batteries. Speaking of the batteries, this flashlight uses a common size of high-capacity Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries, the 26550 3.7v 5,000 mAh variety. The batteries come partially charged, and were fully charged in a few hours.

In addition to the excellent kit, I can say from personal experience that APLOS stands behind their product and you can be confident that if you reach out to them… whether it’s just a question or if ever you should require warranty assistance, they respond quickly and with a mindset that is focused on total customer satisfaction. A+

This light is solidly built and comes with its own rechargeable batteries. I like that the batteries have a separate charger versus being built into the light like some other dive lights I’ve seen. I wouldn’t trust any sort of connection port on a light that you’re supposed to take underwater with you. i’m really impressed with how bright this thing is, it lights up the night so you have absolutely no problem seeing anything even many yard off in the distance. I’m actually using this light as an emergency light around the house as well as a dive light since it’s so bright.

The downside to the light is how big and heavy it is. It’s very dense so it weighs more than it looks like it should. It is a medium sized light, so bigger than what I was hoping it would be. I have a more compact dive light which is really light to carry, but it’s not anywhere near as bright as this one, so there’s a trade off.

Something that takes a little getting used to is the magnetic rotating switch for the light. The collar around the head of the light rotates, which is what allows you to select how bright you want it to be and whether you want it to have any sort of flashing strobe effect to it. You can operate it one-handed, but you have to be really dexterous with your fingers which can be a challenge when you’re wearing dive gloves. It’s easier to use your other hand to rotate the ring, which can be a pain if you’re holding a tool/spear/net/ pretty much anything that you have to grip onto with your other hand.

I do like that this thing comes in a nice plastic case for storing it in along with its accessories. It can be a challenge remembering where your chargers and cables for different electronics got to, so it’s very convenient that I’m able to keep all the accessories together in one place. Though, make sure your light has been rinsed and is completely dry before putting it back into its box as you definitely don’t want any moisture getting into the foam along with the charging cable and charger.

This APLOS torch set is Superb! The torch comes in a plastic hard shell box which contains the main torch body, a battery charger, carry strap, spare O’rings and instructions. The two batteries are already inserted within the torch.

The torch itself boasts around 12000 lumens, if your not sure what a lumen is then the easiest way to explain this is imagine lighting 1 Birthday Cake candle and standing 1 foot away from it – the light given off by this single candle is around 1 lumen – so now imagine 12000 of these candles being lit and that gives you a rough perception of the brightness this torch can achieve. The torch has several settings which you change by twisting the upper body of the torch. There are 4 brightness levels, low, med, high and wow ‘turbo’ bright! You also have a strobe and flicker effect. The torch is waterproof up to 150m and is marketed towards divers. The torch feels very well made, materials include aviation grade aluminium and a tough tempered glass lens. The batteries are 5000mAh each so should provide you ample power even in the turbo brightness mode. The torch has a decent amount of weight to it, but certainly not too heavy to carry or keep in your coat pocket.

I have included a short video review showing the brightness of this torch – i live near open fields which are pretty much in total darkness of an evening, turning on the torch to full brightness i could clearly see around half of the field in front of me like it was daylight – ignore the fact that i say the full field in my video review as this was a genuine mistake! I was super impressed by the level of brightness produced by this torch light. One word of note, the lens of the torch does get very hot outputting this level of light so be super careful if you run it for a long time. In the winter months this will be my go to torch for when i walk my dog in the fields.

So would i recommend this torch to others? Well it’s not your under the sink torch for power cuts, it’s way too expensive for that. However for open water divers this torch would be amazing – also for people who like to hike in the dark, or like me take evening strolls across darked fields with the dog then this light would be perfect for situations like that – just remember to reduce the brightness if you encounter someone walking towards you! Camping and outdoor situations, again this would be a great torch to have.

    Great well made product!

I hope that you found my review helpful.

Aplos torch is one of the strongest I had so far in my hands. With 12000Lumens this one is a beast and you should be very careful with it.

    The main features:

    Bright and powerful
    7 modes
    Waterproof
Complete with charger and carry case

This torchlight is one of the most powerful I had so far. 12000 lumens means super bright. To compare it with some standard lights you have around you an average lightbulb 200-1000 lumens which means this torch is x10 stronger than any other light. That said, you should be very careful with it and do not even think of pointing it to someone’s eyes.

The torch has 7 modes which are selected by turning the knob close to the top of the torch.

    Modes:
    Low
    Medium
    High
    Turbo (maximum)
    Strobe
    SOS
    Beacon

This torch is 100% waterproof and it can go up to 150m bellow water. The waterproof feature is achieved by perfectly made casing with two o-rings added to both top and bottom of the light where it can be unscrewed to take out the batteries.

To complete and make this torch perfect it comes with battery charger, carry case and wrist strap.

This is definitely a beast in the world of LED torches and if taken care of it can last nearly a lifetime as the quality of it is great. Only thing to consider is if you are willing to spend just under 200 for a torch and if you do money will be well spent.

Got this light in hopes it was brighter than my other dive lights. I charged the battery up and took it out the next day. I used one of my chargers I had and the battery satin there but not sure how well. We went out to a fresh water scuba park and I took it for the first dive. The water was pretty murky from the rains we have had. Went in and got to one of the boats and turned the light on. I can tell you this thing is bright. I love the fact that with the twist of the knob you can change your power level. I was able to use this on full power for at least a good 30 minutes. Once it drained the batteries below a certain percentage it would not let me use full power but the other settings still worked.

The power/actions settings are just roman numerals on the bezel that you rotate. That was the only down fall I saw as I was not sure what the settings were. I did find out you have power starting lowest to highest on 1 – 4, 5 was strobe, 6 was SOS if I remember correctly. Over all I cannot wait to do a night dive with this bad boy. It is well constructed and can have the batteries loaded from wither end. It really is super bright compared to my other lights for the same price point as my other lights as well. Over all the durability and quality of this light was very good.

*** Update as of 12/3/2022 Used this light when we went to Jamaica on two dives. The fist one was during the day and was great in the water at 80′. Only problem we had with it was it would not turn off. One led stayed lit. Got out of the water and dried it off and noticed it looked like it had been beat up pretty bad by being rolled around and dropped on concert or something like that. All the lettering was gone as well. When I would grab it to open it I kinda felt like I was getting shocked a little but thought nothing of it. Got back to the room and looked it over good. No flooding or wetness inside so I charged the batteries again. Put the light back together and was really shocked out how much the slat water had effected the housing. We did our night dive and it was by far one of the brightest lights under the water but once again could not get the light to turn off. Tried everything on there and still had the one LED on the off setting. Got on the boat and took a towel to dry it off and there was the feeling again of being shocked. removed my hands and nothing and put them back on there and could feel it. Just putting this out there so that you are aware of the issues I had with it. The light itself is very powerful and very bright but to not be able to turn it off and have that issues was sad.

Excellent Dive Torch, I never came cross such as amazing touch in my life.
very easy to use, very very bright light, absolutely Waterproof, very strong made of good quality aviation grade aluminium alloy, the First light options are a bright light and increases when increasing the light option on the torch while the other remaining modes are fishing light mode.
both battery charger and 2 batteries included.
I included a screenshot demonstration of the brightness starting for I, II, III, IV.

Bright. Zoomable, Robust. Rechargeable. And go quite deep into the water.
Nice and well made torch with all the good quality of a strong torch.
This is great for camping or hiking, not too heavy.
Switching mode with twist, and 7 modes in roman numbers- would be great if some sort of wording or graphic to show mode.
Using in the rain and wet conditions also been great, since this is made to withstand pressure of 150m deep.
Good grip and comes with a strap for carrying- could have done with a nice pouch.
The battery life is great with two 18650 batteries.
Price wise is still a bit steep for Prime with voucher at 130.

This light is bright!! It’s obviously designed for underwater use but I will point out that if it’s out of the water it will get very hot very quick on the highest setting! I was testing it in that one picture for heat dissipation in the water and it did stay cool. I am very pleased with the output though! I have another one that claims to be 20,000 lumens and this light blows it out of the water!.. Comes with some nice quality attachment rings and handle. The strobe setting on this thing is something I’ve never seen before! The flash rate is that of a trance concert on steroids! The picture I took of it in the field still doesn’t do justice, The grass is lit up but that’s just the spare light pattern from the coned housing. The tree line further back is the spot of the light and that’s an acre away. I couldn’t get the camera to focus correctly but it’s brighter on the tree line than it looks in the photo! Very pleased with this dive light and I’ll be going underwater with it soon! Do recommend!

I started scuba diving in the early 1990s and shortly after I bought a King Pelican dive light. It ran on 8 D batteries and was monstrously big and heavy! I have kept it around all these years because it was bright! My friends have shown up over the years with lots of smaller lights but nothing that was comparable in brightness. I decided maybe it was time to see if an LED dive light might be up to the task. That would be an understatement! This light is brighter than bright! It runs on 2 – 26250 batteries rated at 5000 mAh each. Its rated to run for over 25 hours on low, 2 hours on high and 1.6 hours on “Turbo” mode. On the high setting, it easily surpasses my beloved King Pelican. On Turbo mode, it is unbelievable! Everything about this light seems very premium. It’s supplied in a plastic, padded case. The switch is a rotary switch with positive detents at each setting and large Roman numeral markings I – VII. The case is very solid and well made. This is the light I will dive with from now on!

When I first saw this flashlight’s claim of 12,000 lumens I thought “is that even legal?”. Like, do I need to be in International Waters before I use it? A little research quickly showed there are actually no laws governing flashlight lumens, or really any reason to have such laws, so now I’m apparently on a quest to find the brightest object I can hold in the palm of my hand.

Until I’ve had time to finish that quest, I’ll be perfectly happy with this APLOS dive light. It really is insanely bright, The rechargeable battery option is awesome and almost a necessity, unless you’re wanting to trade up a mortage on your home to keep this thing running on disposable batteries. The different brightness settings are not just handy, but they’re a must… there’s really no reason to use level 4 brightness unless you’re using this to vaporize a shark that’s making an ascent on you.

For what it’s worth, I’m getting around 100 minutes at full power, which is more than enough to accompany James Cameron on his next Marianas Trench dive and keep his way lit the whole time.

And keep in mind that SCUBA companies always make the best accessories for their tools… in that vein, Aplos has included an awesome, compact carrying case that will hold everything you need (cable, charger, spare battery) to take this light on your next adventure.

The brightness of this light is amazing! It is a good thing it has 3 power modes as it should be dialed down most of the time. The rotating magnetic switch is much better then the common push button switches. This is a dive light and it gets hot on the highest setting so I would recommend only using underwater at this brightness level. I could do without the strobe setting as it appears to be dangerous if misused. The construction of the light is great. Double O-ringed at each end and a magnetic switch that does not expose the inside to water. What really surprised me was the light beam. It was fairly wide and not adjustable. It has a daylight color without the purple tint. A much more natural look. If this light is in your price range it is a big step above the cheaper lights and you wont regret it.

This light is amazing! It’s so bright, it outshines my vehicle’s headlights, even on the high beam setting. Literally; see the photo I included of a dirt road in the forest. In the photo, this light is on the left and my vehicle’s high beams are on the right. This light blasts right through the darkness. It is simply like carrying around daylight in your hand. I also shone this light up a redwood tree (over 200 feet tall) and it lit it up like the sun was shining. See photo. That’s how well it performs on land.

Underwater performance is awesome too. I took it diving in the river and in a cold creek where I was able to spot rainbow trout swimming around! In one of the images, you can see that it is daylight out and I am creating a shadow and using the light to illuminate a pikeminnow fish that swam into that shadow. It is comparable to daylight in its light output. The other images were taken in a shaded area of the river. All demonstration images were using the highest light output setting (turbo) on the dive light. My dives were all under 7 feet depth since I was free diving in shallow waters. I went into the shallow water and shone the light around to find some fish, and my friends on the river bank could clearly see the fish illuminated.

This light has multiple levels (7) of light output. You choose by rotating a ring switch on the light head. It’s easy to do, even underwater. I was able to move the ring without gloves underwater. It is sealed with O-rings to keep out the water. You are supposed to treat them after each dive to maintain the waterproofing. The enclosed owner’s manual details how. Three strobe options are offered, and you get four steady beam modes of varying light intensity. I am not sure the purpose of the strobe modes, but I suppose it could be useful for underwater photography.

The light is heavy, so it will sink. I like that it comes with a long lanyard which you can tighten around your wrist so it doesn’t fall off. I’d work out some way to attach it to me so that I could work hands-free underwater though. I love the ease of switching light output modes, but I do wish there were fewer strobe modes. For my needs, those are not necessary. I appreciate having four steady light beam choices though.

The housing is sturdy metal, coated in black. The grip is not knurled. The only part that is knurled is the rotating selection ring. The batteries are sealed in their compartment with an O-ring too. The kit comes with a charger and two batteries (5000mAh, 3.7V Li-ion, 26650). Extra O-rings are included. You also get a handy carrying case that snaps closed and holds the entire kit. Does not come with the plug-in charger, but does come with the cable. Most of us have plenty of chargers around though.

The lamp end does get warm when in use. I try to switch it off to give it a break and let it cool down. I don’t need to use it with the beam constantly on for my purposes. It runs down the battery to do that. I prefer to use the less intense light modes for most normal tasks, since it saves battery life and the flashlight doesn’t get too hot.

The flashing strobe modes can be difficult to look at. I advise being careful using those. The turbo mode is so bright, I can’t look directly at the beam either. However, if you need a super bright light, this one is perfect for you.

Overall, my impression is that you get a good quality, durable light for the price. It is super, super bright and works underwater. It is heavy duty and should last for many years. I highly recommend it.

Brighter than my vehicle's headlights and works great underwate

    First impression:
The torch is a substantial alloy piece with illumination provided by 6 LEDs under a front lens to a quoted 12000 lumens. Control is by a twist ring and there is a lanyard mount. The torch weights just over half a KG at 525 grammes and does not float. The instructions quote 345g and perhaps that is without batteries installed. It is made from 6061 aluminium and solution heat hardened to T6.

    Packaging and contents:
Everything is supplied in a plastic box with handle and clasps for storage. Inside the torch is protected in a foam lining. You get the torch, battery charger and USB cable, lanyard, keyring and instructions. The batteries are already inside the torch but need activating first.

    What I liked:
The torch comes with spare O-rings for both sizes of seal. These rings although lubricated will become worn because the torch needs to be undone every time the batteries need to be charged. It is a shame that there could not be an external magnetic charge point so that the torch could remain sealed, but you can’t have everything.
There are a number of settings accessed by twisting the ring on the torch body. The first 4 provide different levels of illumination. Setting 5 is a fast strobe, 6 flashes the light to the pattern SOS and mode 7 is a slow flash.
The torch is rated at IPX8 for continuous immersion to 150m, which is more than sufficient for most situations and is made of hardened alloy that should be sufficient to resist both damage and pressure although the instructions claim the results were obtained in lab conditions.
The torch has a warning flash mode and reduced illumination when the battery level is dropping.

Anything I didn’t like so much:
There is a little rattle from the torch and it sounds like the batteries are a little loose inside. Perhaps all it needs is a little extra foam padding.
There is no grip texture embossed into the torch. This might make it a little trickier to keep hold of but also it is not easy to get the bottom seal open as the torch slips in the hand and I instead accessed the batteries through the top seal.
Some of the instructions are a bit daft, such as the exhortation to not change the batteries under water. If you lack that level of common sense then you don’t need this torch.

    Conclusion:
The torch is expensive but durable and looks really great, although how long this will last once it gets dinged up against other equipment of rocks is anyone’s guess. The illumination level is impressive on maximum but at least there is a lower level that is much more compatible for land use. If anything, it is a little too heavy but that’s not too much of a problem underwater. The inclusion of a keyring is a nice touch and designed so that you can detach different rings of keys using the round carabiner.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review, I hope you found it helpful.

Great robust torch with a very strong beam.

This is just so bright it’s ridiculous. I have quite a few fairly powerful torches, or so I thought, and this beats them all hands down. When it’s on full it will illuminate a very large area, very brightly.

Out of water it does get hot quite quickly and I wonder if that’s maybe not such a good idea. Under water it’s obviously cooled by the water itself so it’s less of an issue. However the marketing materials do show it being used outdoors in the woods and I haven’t been able to resist taking it with me to walk the dog. It’s great fun being able to light up a whole field from one little torch.

The manufacture is excellent and I like the rotating design of the switch, which makes it easy to operate even with thick gloves on.

The case and charger are a bit more basic, but that’s fine with me since they get the job done.

    This is a bright torch.

And as specialist item it commands a premium price, being waterproof to 150m.

The construction feels very solid, this is a weighty flashlight. Control is by a ring that turns to cycle through 350 to 12000LM, with then flashing modes.

For once I won’t complain about the latter, because underwater signals do matter.

Handling the torch gives a great first impression, weighty but not overly so, the moving parts, move slickly, and finish is very good – as one must expect at this price point.
Packaging is okay, but I think you might be forgiven for thinking the torch was a lower price point on this basis.
Same goes for the charger – which compared to the torch itself feels an inexpensive plastic device, that seems to be generic, for a variety of battery sizes given the adjustable spring clasps.

I haven’t used this underwater, but I can absolutely say it is very bright indeed.
So bright at it’s higher settings as to warrant caution around others, and animals.
Yet that is a necessary requirement for low light aquatic conditions.

In conclusion this is a little of a mix “box”, with a very nicely made 150M waterproof flashlight, but at this price point I would say let down by the ancillary charger and the packaging.
However in the hand, and in use it is very effective indeed.

    Bright and the really bright.

This torch is incredible. It is by far the brightest torch i have ever had. I live in the countryside and we have no streetlights and this lights up a 20 acre field in full, its incredible.

It comes with a re-chargeable battery which comes pre-charged, a charger and cable, a cord to carry it, and a carrying case. I also got a leather keyring with mine that i am using for my car keys.

There are 7 settings on this torch that you cycle through to suit. The 1st 4 are Low, Medium, High, Turbo, the other 3 are Strobe, SOS, and Beacon.

Currently 127.49. Expensive, but very much worth it.

The Aplos Diving Flashlight comes in a smart, hard plastic, clip-fastened carry case with a padded interior. Included with the flashlight are two 26650 Lithium batteries fitted inside the torch, a USB-A to micro-USB cable for the battery charging unit, a wrist strap cord, a battery charging unit, a user manual, a ‘thank you’ gift of a good quality key fob and two pairs of spare O rings for the screw caps. The batteries need to be removed from the torch for charging. There is no external connection port on the torch.

The large torch has a good weight and feels robust. It has a nice balance and feels very comfortable in the hand. The seven use modes are clearly marked in Roman numerals in the head of the torch.

Rotating the switch on the head aligns an arrow mark to the torch mode. There are four brightness levels. The top level is extremely bright; then there is a strobe mode, an SOS mode and a single flash beacon mode. The switch rotates all the way round back to Off and it can be rotated in either direction. For example, you can rotate it to Level 1 light, then turn it back to Off. There is a satisfying snap as the switch rotates to the next mode.

The torch operates smoothly and easily. It is a pleasure to use. It gives a wide beam of light with a stronger centre point. There is no harsh definition between the centre light and the outer beam circle.

This is an excellent flashlight, good value for the price and I am very pleased with it.

This dive light is extremely bright and can accompany you on all your deep sea journeys. It has multiple brightness settings and different modes including a strobe effect so you’ll be well prepared for any underwater raves. It comes with a keychain, battery charger, and carrying strap so you and your light never have to be far apart. It does get hot quickly so only use it in the water and make sure it’s turned off when you’re storing it.

Overall this is an excellent dive light that will give the anglerfish a run for their money.

Super Brught light. Great for diving, Very well made and sealed (water proofing). Running the light outside water it gets Hot Fast on Bright setting. I used it in 6 dives ranging from 20ft to 110 ft. In overhead coral environments and shipwreck dives, the flashlight easily illuminated the entire room which made the dive more enjoyable, more safe,It works equally well on land as a spot light or security flashlight although it does get hot quickly.
This is Definitely the brightest light I have used of this size, it puts out an Amazing amount of light from a “regular” sized light. Highly Recommended!!

Granted that this light is way brighter than all my other normal flashlights. I did however compare it to a light that advertised 5000lm and this one looks less bright. The light does have a different spread of the beam, but the two are similar enough that I would have expected them to at least look the same. The thing feel really solid and I look forward to having it with me on my off road adventures. I hope to find an excuse to go on a swim with this one too.

This light is BRIGHT!!! I ran a comparison against my current brightest flashlights, and it overpowers them on setting 2 of 4. I have lit up a whole room with this light just by pointing it at the ceiling and saw no difference when I turned the lights on. The seals are also really good, there are 3 stout O rings that keep water out of each end, and they seem to do a great job of keeping the innards dry. Also, when used as a normal flashlight, on setting 4, it gets warm real quick, so keep that in mind as it generates a bit of heat when in use, but the dual 21650 batteries give it plenty of longevity for long run times.

This Aplos torch is designed especially for diving or other water related activities as it is completely waterproof with a good IP Rating, though obviously can also be used on land as well. The torch comes supplied in its own hard shelled case and comes complete with charging cable, battery charger, lanyard, spare o-rings,keychain and instruction manual.Currently selling on Amazon for just under 190.
The torch benefits from multiple different lighting modes and the intensity of the light can be adjusted -at 12000 lumens the light from this gadget is extremely powerful. The torch is comfortable to hold as well.
This would make a great gift for a diving enthusiast.
    My rating is 5 Stars.

This APLOS is an absolutely fantastic, very bright torch that will be useful to a lot of people in a lot of circumstances. Marketed mainly as a divers torc, waterproof to 150m it would be extremely useful to hikers, me, cavers and possibly the emergency services like the fire brigade in very smoky buildings.

At 12,000 lumens the APLOS is by far the brightest torch that I have had. There are 4 Different brightness levels plus a beacon mode, SOS and a strobe function. The different functions are selected by a simple rotary bezel.

Excellent build quality the APLOS comes complete with batteries and charger.

Like many similar items it seems to me that there is a basic design that is then punted out under a number of names with some cosmetic differences. My gut feeling is that this is such a thing as I Googled the name and found various similar operating underwater torches/flashlights but slightly differing cosmetics. I suspect the electronics are the same.

That may come across as a bit grumpy cynical old man but hey. I am a cynical grumpy old man. And I’ve also spent many years as a Chief Engineer on offshore saturation dive ships and know dive systems and the gear extremely well. And honestly, I’ve never seen anyone use a torch like this in the professional world.

And that’s because it’s just too nice. And when I say nice I mean it’s well made but has a fit and finish with controls that require you to respect it a bit and not abuse it. Offshore we just use the cheap plastic cased right angled torches that can take a massive beating – although of course there are many other means of illumination such as helmet lamps and ROVs watching. On a DSV these would last a short time before they were damaged by a ham fisted bubble head.

My brother is a sat diver – or rather was before he moved on and up and when I showed him this he liked it but said it was defo aimed at the sport market. Which is fair I suppose.

For those who do want this kind of thing – PADI divers (in the professional industry known as Pay Another Dollar Immediately) then this torch is good. It gives a great light level with a good range as well as different levels of light power as well as various flashing modes for communication. The controls are easily operated via the rotary bezel with my only criticism being that each dente is quite light meaning it’s easy to accidentally move the dial to the next setting.

Speaking of those ergonomics, this is pretty good. You might be wearing thick gloves and the size and shape of this torch makes it easy to hold with or without gloves on.

It comes in a nice case with USB charger and a lanyard for security so good for travelling with.

The quality of manufacture is very good with precision machined parts and a very smooth operating feel. The ‘glass’ lens is in fact glass not a type of plastic which means it will stay clear not go hazy.

When speaking to my brother he said he liked it but would always want a bum basic backup light. Fancy is great but you need simple too.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI don’t often write reviews unless something on Amazon really impressed or dissatisfied me. However, this thing is EXCELLENT! It is an awesome dive light, a great value, and well made. Let’s talk about the brightness for a minute. Do you want to illuminate a small area or turn it all the way up and bring daylight to your immediate/distant area… this will do both.

I recently wrote a review of a 15,000 lumen rechargeable torch, that I thought was pretty bright and had a price tag of around 26, so when I was offered the chance to test this model from APLOS I was quite interested to see how much better a torch that retails for 140 could be.

The APLOS AP120 is made from an Aluminium alloy, making it nice and strong and has a fair weight to it, even without the batteries. The torch is made up of 3 sections — the head section that contains the 6 x SST20 LED’s that provide the up to 12,000 lumens of bright white light and these are sealed behind the tempered glass lens.

Next you have the main body that stores the 2 included 5000mAh 3.7v 26650 Lithium rechargeable batteries and finally you have the end cap keeping the batteries in place and this has a small cut out section so that you can attach the include wrist strap.
The head and cap screw on to the body and both ends have 3 x rubber O-rings to keep water from getting inside, which is of course extremely important being as this is a dive torch.

There are 7 different lighting modes and these are selected using a simple but effective magnetic selector ring on the torch head. You simply rotate the ring (you can turn it in either direction) and this will cycle through the different settings — Low, Medium, High and Turbo/Super Bright, followed by a fast flashing strobe, SOS and finally a slower flashing beacon mode.

    ***** In The Box *****

    1 x AP120
    1 x USB Battery Charger
    1 x USB Cable
    2 x 26650 Batteries
    1 x Wrist Strap
    4 x Spare O-Rings
    1 x User Guide
    1 x Bonus Key Ring

    ***** Conclusion *****

The first thing I must say is that this torch is extremely bright. The last one I used was supposed to be 15,000 Lumens on paper, but the AP120 completely blows that one out of the water and is probably twice as bright, especially when using the turbo mode.

It is definitely a high quality product and feels very well made with its triple seals for keeping water out and the selector ring turns nice and smoothly before clicking into each setting — I hadn’t seen a torch with this type of power switch before, but i guess it makes a lot of sense on a diving torch, as it must be easier to keep the product waterproof than a conventional on/off button.

The light beam produced is quite wide, rather than focused and is not adjustable, although the manufacturer says it still has a beam range of 650m and in use, the torch head does get quite hot, especially when using the higher powered modes.

I like that the product comes with rechargeable batteries, as this saves having to hunt around for new ones and being as this doesn’t have a charging port built in (to increase waterproofness), i like that you get a charger.

Finally, I like that everything comes stored away neatly inside a nice plastic storage case.

So would I actually spend 140 on a torch? Despite this being a high quality product, I wouldn’t personally buy it as it is overkill for my needs. If I was in to diving or caving etc, then I can definitely see the value of spending the extra money on it for the quality of the aluminium, glass lens and it’s water tight body and I think it would be worth buying.

I’ve got a similar one from a well known competitor and I would say that this is much better than that.I pointed a top of a tree at 200 yards distance and on the focus mode I could see every single thing on that tree.Line of the light was like a laser focusing a target. It has other light settings to cover all the necessities. If the accumulators are good, this is a very efficient lifetime torch with many, many uses. It is a professional tool and not a silicone toy!!

I received this item through the Amazon Vine programme.
This is a well constructed torch, the metal throughout is thick/substantial, obviously designed to withstand some rough handling. It’s well finished with good machining, no sharp edges. It is head-heavy, quite noticeably so: whether this is minimised once underwater I wouldn’t know.
It operates by a magnetic rotating switch in the head of the torch: you need two hands to operate it: the switch rotates in either direction so you don’t have to scroll through all the modes to get the one you want.
There is no focussing available, the beam is set, semi-wide with a bright centre: on “Turbo” it is very much like a car headlight.
As other reviewers have pointed out, it does get quite hot on the max setting, however given it’s impressive output, this isn’t unusual.
It’s powered by two 5000mAh batteries and a charger is supplied.
The whole thing is well contained, no nasty rubber bungs covering vulnerable ports. Multiple O-rings and well greased threads keep the water out: spare O-rings are provided.
I have no idea if the claim of 12000 lumens is accurate, but it is very bright: there are four standard beam modes, a strobe, an SOS and a pulse/beacon, I though the beacon was well done, an intense fraction-of-a-second pulse of very bright light, useful as a marker and has a claimed run time of 30 hours.
Any criticisms are minor: I would like to have seen a couple of flat sections on the body to prevent it rolling when put down, a spare set of batteries would be nice but probably push the price up too much.
Retailing for 139.99 (Prime) with a further 20 discount voucher available at time of review, I think this torch offers good value for money: it’s evidently better made than many similar items and the performance/options exceed most sub-200 units.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEdit 19/Sep/2022 —
I just returned from a diving trip to Grenada with this torch. WOW this torch was super useful on the wreck dives! I cannot stress enough that this torch is SUPER bright when you need it most. It (way) over-powered the output of my fellow divers’ smaller “1000 lm” diving torches. Our whole dive lead team wanted me to “light up” the wrecks and crevices on our dives. My deepest dive this trip was 85 ft / 26 m, no issues with water penetration.

    General observations:
This torch is BIG for a self-contained portable diving torch. It’s heavy, too. My measurements show the weight as 19.2 ounces or 545 grams with both batteries installed, but no lanyard (see photos).

There are 6 LEDs inside the lens. They make a pronounced 6-sided star pattern when shown on a blank wall (see photo comparison side-by-side with my old torch; APLOS AP 120 on the left, other torch on the right). You won’t ever notice the light pattern underwater unless you’re shining it on the side of flat, blank surface.

You can open the battery chamber from either the front or back. Just make sure you tighten down both ends before you “get wet” to ensure proper water protection at depth.

The product description states “What’s in the box: 1 x AP120 dive light.” There’s more! The kit comes with the AP120 dive light, two 5000 mAh rechargeable batteries, one 2-battery recharge station and cable (but not a charger), full replacement o-ring kit (4 o-rings), wrist lanyard, instruction manual and a “personal” letter from the OEM (with full contact info) along with a leather and metal key ring all packaged in a well made, latched, plastic hard shell case.

    What I like:
This torch is BRIGHT. I can’t say whether it’s truly 12,000 lumen at the brightest setting as I don’t own a light/lumen meter. But compared to my old torch, which is rated at “1000 lumens” (on the right in my comparison photo), the APLOS AP120 on it’s “II” (Medium) setting is at least that bright. The “III” (High) and “IV” (Turbo) brightness is easily 5x and 10x brighter than my old light’s brightest setting.

This torch comes with two “26650” 5000 mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion batteries. The batteries should give you many many recharges. The kit comes with a two-battery charge block that uses a standard micro-USB plug. The kit has a USB-A to micro-USB cable, but does not come with it’s own charger. Almost everyone has an extra multi-USB charge box or extra USB charger in a drawer, but you should be aware that you will have to supply the charger.

The kit comes with four replacement o-rings; two for the front and two for the rear (different sizes) of the barrel. The magnetic light selector is easy to control with or without gloves. The bottom end-cap has a slot for tying on a bolt-snap (the supplied lanyard cord was too thick).

The light temp is rated at 5000-5300K. It is a nice, bright, but not “cold” or blue-ish light. It appears more “sunlight natural” compared to my other, cheaper torch. See my side-by-side comparison photo (APLOS AP120 on the left). I really like the light output and feel it will give me more natural colors when I’m deep down.

    What I wish were different:
It takes both batteries to power the torch. If you operate it at the “III” or “IV” setting then you will only get respectively ~2 hours or ~1.6 hours of battery life, which should be plenty for a normal dive day or one night dive. Unless you buy two more “26650” 5000 mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, you won’t have spares for quick changes between multiple same-day dives.

The design of the torch is such that the front battery compartment opening and back opening are different diameters, thus two sets of two different size o-rings (and replacements). I wish they would have designed it so all o-rings were one common size.

The setting labels on the torch are Roman numerals (I, II, III, IV, V, VI & VII). The instruction manual details the seven different settings by name; Low, Medium, High, “Turbo,” Strobe, SOS & Beacon. They should have used the Roman numerals in the instructions. Also know, “Turbo” mode is the brightest setting.

The Strobe setting (“V”) is a super-rapid and super bright flashing light. The flashing is so rapid that if you or anyone nearby has flashing-light induced Epilepsy it could possibly trigger a seizure. Make sure you test and understand the Strobe setting before you “cut it loose” around others.

The barrel of the torch is smooth. So smooth it makes it difficult to unscrew either of the end-caps, and equally difficult getting the end-cap tightened back properly. I wish the barrel had some knurling.

The lanyard loophole (slot) on the bottom end-cap is so narrow that even the included wrist lanyard doesn’t fit. I was able to tie on my bolt-snap using standard cord, which I do for all my SCUBA accessories. But if you were only using the included lanyard you’d have to use a small screwdriver to “punch” the cord through the narrow slot.

This torch is definitely a “buy once for life” quality accessory. I am sure it will handle all of my recreational diving needs for many years to come.

Super bright! Big, heavy, pro-grade diving torch for a great price.

It’s 12000 lumens and for such a compact torch it projects really bright!

I got this for the quality as I want something I can use everyday and knowing it will last me ages before needing to be replaced.

It uses LED bulbs which are quality super bright bulbs and won’t be blown easily.

This is a very well put together package that not only looks like it delivers the power stated, but can do so for sustained periods.

You get a nice plastic case which has the torch (2 x 26650 batteries already installed), micro-USB lead and battery charger, spare “O” rings, lanyard and keyring strap, plus instructions.

Operation is by a rotating ring near the front, markings “I” to “VII” for the various modes of low, medium, high, turbo, strobe, SOS and beacon. It’s a magnetic switch so totally waterproof and doesn’t involve an opening in the aluminium case.

Both seals have 3 “O” rings that keep it completely watertight. You can have a lanyard and rubber tube to keep it on your arm when diving, as this doesn’t float.

Output is rather impressive. At least as good as my Emisar D4 (which can ignite black paper when held close up) but this manages the power continuously, rather than the minute for the D4. In fact the only limit seems to be the battery life, it didn’t get too hot and shut down to a lower setting during my testing at all.

Incredibly bright and with a moderately tight beam, you won’t be wanting for anything brighter. The levels of illumination are just right, and the beacon mode is a flash periodically at full power and should last a day or so, which could be a life saver.

The charger is only micro-USB powered, so be prepared for long charge times unless you have a more rapid charger. They say to grease the “O” rings regularly, and they are a tight fit, so maybe not running it down too often will save them – if you need the total waterproof feature.

Not too heavy, very tough and very bright. Expensive but you’ll never need another torch if you get this one.

Bright output for sustained periods. Totally watertight.

I purchased this with the intention to use it in ocean surf. It is bright, very bright. The way you have to charge it is not really obvious so it took a few minutes to figure it out but not really a problem and obvious why they did it the way they did. One issue is not related to its use when diving but its use on shore. It gets very warm even hot after using it for a short while. So it is built to be in the water when used. I would use it for a short while and turn it off. But I am guessing that when I felt the case getting hot it probably is not a good thing for the flashlight.

Despite this, It is the brightest dive light I have ever seen. This light is well-balanced and comfortable tohold. The machiningand quality of the metal finish is very premium and reflect the asking price for sure. Even though it’s designed to be a diving flashlight, it also excels above water.

This lumen monster sure doesturn night into day. It pumps out a massive amount of light puttingyourcar’s high beams to shame! This light is perfect for outdoor activities or if you just need to light up a large area all at once. Maybe just don’t have it on too long as it gets warm, as mentioned.

It is very easy to use by just simply twisting the settings to choose between the power options. We used it for an open water class consisting of 6 dives each about 45 minutes, so on the battery life, it has at least a 4.5-hour burn time, as we did not charge it between dives. And it is still going strong.

I recommend this light for both recreational and technical diving as it will work well in both environments, with the tight focus it is excellent for nighttime/low vision communications underwater. It is going to be an exceptional addition to my kit. I could not have asked for better light.

    Hope this review helps

Delivered in its own branded hard case carry box

This torch is quite heavy , inside the box you get the torch , a wristband lanyard , a battery charger , a usb charging cable and an instruction manual.

Unscrew the light end of the torch and remove the plastic battery cover , close up and it’s ready to use
The top end of this torch has a button which sets the modes . There are seven lighting modes ranging from bright to brilliant light for all types of underwater searching , just press the button as many times as you need and turn the switch .

The battery Recharger is a nice touch saving you money on replacing batteries , this will pay for itself in no time .

If you dive ( hell , even if you don’t ) this torch has all the bells and whistles, yes it’s expensive normally 189.99 this order was 139.99 which is still a fair whack for a light . But this is definitely the best Dive Torch I’ve seen .

    APLOS AP120 Dive Torch

Having been a sub aqua diver for many years, I do appreciate how important a good torch can be. With only limited bottom time why skimp on an inadequate cheap torch where you may miss most of the glory that is there to be seen. The asking price of 189.99 (currently reduced to 139.99) is a high price to pay for a torch, but this torch is amazingly rated to withstand pressures up to 160 metres deep. There will will never be a time that I can dive to those sort of depths, but it is comforting to know this torch should cope easily within the normal range of 0-50/60 metres depth that some sport divers may go to.

The torch arrives neatly packed in it’s own plastic case, this has a foam insert with cut-outs for the torch and all it’s included extras, the contents I’ve listed below. I was pleased to find a strong wrist lanyard included, this also includes a silicone tube so it can be held in the hand as well as on the wrist ready for use. As a special gift I received a tough key ring lanyard which will be handy.

The style of this is completely different to my previous dive torch which was made from tough plastic, that seemed to float with zero gravity beside me when under water. This torch is long and slender and is very heavy, as there is virtually no air space inside the torch then there is no buoyancy to it so the torch will dangle down. As such I have made a neoprene cuff to tuck this in out of the way when not in use as I don’t like to have too much dangling when wreck diving.

There is no on off switch on this which could be fiddly to find when under water with thick gloves on, this instead has a large rotating ring which cycles through the various lighting options. The lighting options are: Low, Medium, High, Turbo, Strobe, SOS, and Beacon. This is capable of outputting 12000 lumens, so is very bright on the highest setting, ideal for cutting through that foggy silt ridden water during a wreck dive. There are safety features built in too which will be very useful, especially Strobe, SOS and Beacon. It can be quite unsettling if surfacing and no boat can be seen. Just wave the torch around on one of those settings and you should soon be spotted.

Overall this is a fantastic torch that has 3 o-rings to prevent any water finding it’s way inside. The power of this is amazing for it’s size, the torch is VERY bright on the highest setting. Battery life on the highest setting of Turbo is around 1.6 hours, on low this will be around 26 hours. The emergency beacon will flash at 12000 lumens and will work for around 30 hours (on a full charge).

Yes, this is quite a high price to pay for a torch, but boy what a torch it is!

Honestly I have never seen anything as powerful as this torch and considering the size and lightness I am truly shocked.
At work we use Maglite ML300L 4 D Cell LED Torches and at 100 each are surely powerful but also expensive. For sure this one from APLOS is even pricier as a single unit but it is also a specialized torch for diving and at claimed 150 meters resistance is pretty serious diving.
I was curious to compare full power between the two brands, sorry for the shaking one handed video but I think it is still the overall result: APLOS is not just on a different level, it is on a different planet!
The rotary selector system is far easier and more reliable to use when wearing a diving suit/gloves and the carrying case, spare rubber rings and bits and pieces do solidify the professional level of the torch.

At full power this torch is simply dangerously blinding and never before I saw such power. But at that level it does also generate quickly a fair amount of heat and I would therefore recommend using it at full beam just under water. The other minor issue is that the focus angle of light is no adjustable but honestly when diving is far less a problem that could be on dry land since I surely like to have a good bright view all around myself and not just ahead.

At 190 it is pricey but for the quality and power I surely recommend it.

Unbelievably powerful but not focus adjustable and at max use in wate

12000 lumens or 120 gazillion, million? It doesn’t really matter. Brighter than a collapsing star. 140 at time of review and I can see the initial reviews coming from those of us who need the bragging rights down the pub.

Very bright for sure and I was surprised that I got nearly 90 minutes at its highest (warp factor settings).

    Some observations
    1) not zoomable (maybe not a surprise to keep the thing waterproof 20000 leagues under the sea.

    2) gets very hot if used out of water ( and I would take precautions to ensure it cannot accidently switch on in my rucksack}

    3) Excellent finished quality with a very simple twist operation to invoke the six settings. Maybe too easy to switch on, but that is griping.

    4) Switches off suddenly when batteries reach a certain discharge point. A bit disconcerting that there is no fade but switching down a value gives a little more “on” time

    5) At its lowest setting, its plenty bright enough for many tasks and I’d guess good for 24 or 48 hours of continuous operation

You will also need a fast charger for the twin 5000mAhr batteries. Charging from a small power bank or “normal” USB point will take hours and hours – a consideration if you are out in the boonies for a few days. [UPDATE. 8 hours from a normal 1 amp 5v USB socket

I see some divers have commented favourably and that maybe helps to justify a price that is probably right if your life depends on it. For the rest of us, a very useful trophy toy that’s built to impress and outlive the owne

This certainly seems like a quality product.

Unfortunately the condition of the one I received slightly let’s things down on the presentation front as shown in a photo I took where it arrived with a tear just in from a corner of the foam insert and the foam sheet itself isn’t quite the correct fit for the inside of the lid. I just feel for a product at this price, attention to detail should be paramount. Otherwise everything else oozes class and quality, including a free gift of a key chain.

The torch itself is carefully crafted with a decent amount of weight to it but it isn’t too heavy hold. Changing modes is achieved by twisting the bean end (the rotary switch) either clockwise or anticlockwise. An arrow points to the modes which are numbered via Roman numerals.

I have only tried the torch on land and I haven’t been diving with it. There is a notable up step in brightness between modes. I have included a photo of the table in the instruction booklet detailing the stats of all modes.

The torch uses 2 x 26650 batteries and these had charge but the battery compartment needs to be accessed and a small piece of cardboard removed before reassembling and using the torch.

Be sensible with a product of this nature and avoid shining it into your own or anybody else’s eyes because the range of brightness is 350 to 12000LM and serious or permanent damage is likely, especially at the higher LM modes.

Oozes quality but slightly let down by the packaging

Strong brightness! Strong build! Strong value! This is a wonderful dive torch.
I was impressed with the rotary switch, it’s silkly smooth but you’ll also have a hard time sliding it around if your hand doesn’t grab the small notches on the ring switch. It’s definitely a great design and you don’t have to worry about the torch turning on in some way.
    Definitely recommended.
