This kit is really easy to use and faaaaar more accurate than dip strips. You drop a tablet into the tube, give it a little bit of water to dissolve it, then add water until the colour changes. Same process for alkalinity and hardness.
I used the kit to test my filtered water for the purpose of brewing fancy coffee rather than maintaining a hot tub, so my requirements might be slightly different although the process is obviously the same.
The one improvement that would make me a repeat customer would be a few more graduating me on the cylinder. As it is, you don’t get any granularity below 80 mg/ml, and unfortunately I’m working with water that has a lower alkalinity than that. I think I’ve managed to get a decent estimate, but it seems that they could easily fit another couple of graduations on the cylinder and that would make reading lower values far easier.
Overall though, I’m pretty happy with it and would recommend it. Especially if your requirements aren’t quite as tight as mine.
Good instructions that make the test simple to complete. Gives accurate results for pH and Chlorine levels in our hot tub.
Over the last year I’ve used a number of different test strip products and never get the same result between different products. Each one gave consistent readings but which was was the right value product A or B? After some reading I decided to go for something more accurate with the LabSales 5 in 1 test kit. Its easy to use once you work out how to pour 10ml of pool water into the container or slowly add in the water for the the other tests and then an easy to read value rather than trying to work out tiny variations of colour on test strips. Its also now clear that only one of the strips I was using before was giving anything near the right levels!
