This set of wheel skewers are very nice looking and have a clever mechanism.
It is not thief- proof in that with some tools you can open it, but it is a good deterrent for the usual bike thieves that just go around with a chain cutter or take wheels off by just unclipping the quick release clamps.

I had seen similar skewers before, they have a particular shape that is not standard Allen key (the correct one is included in the kit).
But these ones in particular have an extra feature, a pin in the centre that fits in a hole in the key so standard solid ones won’t be able to twist it either.

    Very happy with this.

Bought this to stop a thief more easily getting my wheels as they were quick release.

One watch out – if your seat post is also quick release you can by these kits with a 3rd smaller bit for the seat post.

    Worked perfectly and looks good.

This gives me a little piece of mind when I lock my cycle outside. Countless thefts around my area and I have put money and effort into my bike so having it taken is my biggest fear. I had previously had quick release wheels on my bike which were handy but I never take my bike in a car so not really relevant to me however this makes them easy to take. I replaced the quick release lock with these and it’s as easy as unscrewing it and putting in these. You don’t even need to take the wheel off so it literally took me 5 minutes.

The tool fits well inside the nut and can be turned to a decent force. Things don’t have to be too tight on the wheels but I recommend that you tighten it well to prevent it being undone by unscrewing the other side. My fear now is losing the tool! but that will be stored safely in my tool box.

It is a bit too short for my bike (about 1 cm longer would be better). Looks nice and is way harder to remove than standard quick release, but absolutely not thieft-proof by construction: 6-point 2.5 bit (or small screwdriver) fits good enough to unscrew it. Hope it will be good enough to prevent accidental wheel dissapearance 🙂

Recently got a little foldy bike but if I ever need to leave it somewhere I don’t want someone being able to steal the wheels. These give a nice option that requires a fairly specialist tool to do up and undo. Just remember to keep it accessible in case you need to fix a puncture or similar.

Very good quality two piece set which between them is bound to fit most bikes.

I got these as I felt the quick release on my front wheel was a liability, likely to fail victim to thieves or just plain mischief. Locking my bike up in town was always risky and this solves my main worry – someone pinching the front wheel. I had to carry an extra lock just for the wheel and another on the frame of the bike.

Took 30 seconds to remove the quick release bar and replace it with this locked version. Kinda proves my point really. I can now leave my bike secure in the knowledge I won’t be missing a wheel when I return.

    Can’t recommend it more.

All too frequently in London, you encounter bicycles securely locked up, missing wheels or saddles! Witnessing only a bare frame remaining attached to the lock truly tugs at my heartstrings.

I own a cherished Colnago bicycle, which I seldom leave unattended. However, when I do, I’m constantly praying that upon my return, my bike remains intact and in its entirety!

Now, I can enjoy a bit more peace of mind, knowing that my wheels (which are rather valuable) are significantly more challenging to abscond with.

The construction of these components is robust, and the provided specialized tool boasts a superior metal quality, ensuring its longevity. I’d rate it a solid 9/10.

There are a lot of bicycle thieves in Manchester. Those who can’t steal bicycles will steal bicycle wheels. When I saw this bicycle hub anti-theft lock set, I immediately placed an order. It has a special key to tighten the wheel hub. Without the matching special key, you can’t even think about removing the tire. . With it I no longer have to worry about my tires being stolen. It is highly recommended that all bicycle owners replace this anti-theft lock string.

I got these to replace quick release bolts to prevent theft and they are working fine and I have no problems with them. Easy to install onto new mountain bike, only took a couple of minutes. Peace on mind as wheels are now secure.

Awesome wheel bolts. Very light and easy to attach to my bike. Looks great, my only concern is they feel too light and it worries me that they may not be as robust as I expect. So far so good though.

These are brilliant especially if you have a nice set of rims.

It’s a shame these are necessary but these are a great deterrent to protect your wheels.

They won’t make your wheels completely safe as the key is a spline which can be obtained online but it will prevent the casual thief from making of with your rims.

Well worth the money and they look cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deterre

A good thief deterrent, well made and inexpensive. You get a key, thererr is nothing special about the key, it’s a star shaped spline key with a centre pin. You can of course buy these, it this will prevent casual opportunitistic theft.

It would be nice if the “key” wasn’t just an Allen key style and came as something you could put on a keyring.

This is a relatively cheap alternative to keeping your wheels safe, it is easy to fit and but you do need to keep the supplies torx key safe as I don’t normally come across this size often.
So, if you are on a ride and lose this key then you’ll probably be buggered.
Good deterrent, just be mindful of where you put things.

These are super neat and could well save you a ton of cash if some tea-leaf fancies the look of your expensive wheels and tyres. Fitting is standard for these things. Have a look on youtube for easy instructions to follow. I really like that the colour is a close match to my third-party brake callipers, black and this kinda nice metallic sort of red. Carry the specific wrench around with you somewhere convenient as it’s not standard. Recommended. You do get the two sizes as shown, BTW.

These are a useful deterrent to thieves because you need the special spanner to unlock them. Just don’t lose the spanner! I wouldn’t just rely on this alone – do make sure and lock up your bike too. It’s a pity one has to think this way really, but the more security and anti-theft measures you have in place the better.

Review for ONIPAX Anti-Theft Locking Skewer 7 Lobe Bicycle Wheel Hub

A two pin set with the longer skewer for the rear and shorter for the front wheel, do look attractive in a similar way to painted callipers or brakes on cars. The security lock not is similar to how alloy wheel keys work on a car, that is unless you have the correct shaped key you can’t undo the nuts. This is either a blessing or a curse, it will help prevent the wheel being removed and stolen however if you lose the provided wrench then you wont be easily able to undo the wheel, the seller is able to provide a replacement wrench but for how long and at what cost? The other thing to note is how unique is the shape of the key, would be thieves may carry similar shaped keys to open this? Overall it’s a deterrent to prevent wheels from being removed and stolen, however balance this with not having access to the key for whatever reason and not being able to consequently remove the key.

I already use quick release Onipax skewers on my road bike and, in all honesty, they’re my favourite skewers so far. They’re made to a high standard and the skewers lock down well.

These anti-theft locking skewers are of a similar quality and will certainly be an option for when I’m riding my bike to work in the future. We have a semi-sexure lock up, but these will ensure the wheels aren’t pinched or removed to steal the bike.

I like that these partly do up like normal skewers, but require the tool to tighten or loosen off. They don’t lock down like quick release ones, but tighten like any other nut type of lock. The separate nut head ensures you can tighten fully without risking being too tight on the form.

These look as.styliah as quick release skewers, however are far more streamlined, so give a more minimalistic look.

Definitely recommended for those after a bit.more security. I imagine these will also work better with turbo trainers too due to the shape.

If you have a bike with quick-release skewers on the axles, it is relatively easy for someone to quickly remove and steal your wheels. This is a really simple but effective deterrent to such theft.

The kit contains two replacement skewers which, instead of quick-release handles, have 7-pointed security Torx bolts on one end, and an appropriate Torx key. To fit, just remove your existing skewers and replace with these, and then tighten with the supplied key.

Anyone out to steal wheels is probably unlikely to have a 7-pointed security Torx on them – I own a lot of tools, and have never even seen one before – so at the very least this is going to slow them down a lot.

The skewers are good quality otherwise – solid-feeling and not too heavy.

For the money, this is pretty much bang-on. Recommended.

If you’re looking for an effective lightweight skewer but have little faith in quick release when locking up your pride and joy around town or outside the workplace etc, you could do a lot worse than investing in this great little set of hex skewers.

They’re well-made and nicely finished while being both lightweight and straightforward to install using the provided hex key. I’ve been using this type of skewer for many years and my old Control Tech skewers are still going strong after some 25 years so I fully expect these to last. Perfect!

They might just be the difference between losing a wheel and not so I’m more than happy to recommend them.

I did not really want these as security skewers I just like the look, I normally use quick release skewers but in all honesty I don’t really need to be quick taking my wheels off, so a nice simple skewer I like.
Simple to fit however not that happy at how well the wrench supplied with these fits the splines, it feels like it is not inserted far enough into the nut and wants to slip out which makes that last bit of tightening a bit iffy, the only other concern I have with this type of skewer is the fact you need a special wrench to do and undo them which is not one of the tools on my multitool, so need to carry this wrench around with me and make sure I don’t loose it because I could find myself in difficulties should I need to remove a wheel on a ride.

I wanted a more secure locking system to replace my quick-release skewer. This fit the bill. Not “locking,” but a tool is required to loosen. And the red nut matches a lot of what I have on my bike.

I remember when skewers like this came out as a weight-saving device back in early 90s. Those were locked by a typical hex wrench. The hex wrench with this set is different, so don’t leave it at home. These skewers are simple, clean, and do the job they were designed for. I just retired my old Tom Ritchey skewers (sniff). Time for a change and change is now.
