Well my first one turned up OK even if the box was a bit smashed up, built-up easy and this is when my problem happened, I did everything they say in the book and on first power up the screen went blank so I tried it for a 2nd time and the same problem so it went back in the box for collection and this was my next problem, no one turned up to collect it after 4 days, so I contacted customer service about the problems and I must say they was excellent in solving my problem and issued a full refund so I have ordered another one because for the money it’s a good buy, I just hope my problem was a one off, I will update my review when I try out my 2nd one.

    Update.
2nd one turned up and it’s running just fine
I haven’t had a cook on it yet but I have had it running for 45 minutes to burn off the manufacturers oil and it ran like a dream

I was one of the 1st to but one of these 18 months ago…maybe even longer, it was the one that had the common Arger fault. This was dealt with by sending me a video of how to fix this and it worked! I’ve cooked on this almost weekly smoked many 4 to 5 kg briskets and large pork butt’s I’ve cooked by BBQ and as and oven too…. its been brilliant unfortunately my Arga fix has now given up but I’m now awaiting my next one to arrive and at a black Friday cost of 159 its an absolute bargain.

So we were new to wood pellets and the first issue was getting some in the moderately rural area we live in. That is the ‘right’ wood pellets as we were not sure which were suitable for food use. Problem solved by large garden centre and then the BBQ was assembled. This proved to be fairly straightforward and having tools included was appriciated – even if we used our own. I think that’s a nice touch.
Then the great British summer and holidays intervened. BBQ was left with relative to try out as they have the garden for it. Unfortunately they didn’t send any usuable pictures, so what you have is build pictures rather than wonderfully cooked steaks and burgers.
Things that work well are the actual BBQ feeding pellets, the meat thermometer – a great idea – and the overall slick look of the BBQ. It’s relatively small, but looks great at a party I’m told. Since getting it, they have started to experiment with different and much more sophisticated recipes.
The downside is cleaning, depending on your standards this is either a bit of a chore – or possibly a nightmare. Since we’re relaxed and don’t need to return to shiny, shiny, it’s OK. But if you’re fussy it could take some time.
None of the issues I have read about have appeared, so I can’t comment there. Overall, we and they are pleased with what is a big improvement to our BBQing and delivers tasty food.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting concept, cooked well. Cleaning possibly tricky.

Finally! A BBQ and smoker that cooks food brilliantly and can be cleaned so easily.
The pellets are convenient to use and the thermometer is an added bonus.
    Very impressed!

I was sceptical as there were so few reviews and not all positive. Knowing that I had Amazon as a backup, I thought I’d chance it. Absolutely delighted with its performance. Easy to use and the food taste infinitely better! Highly recommend especially at the Amazon deal of 15% off which netted it down to 237 for the stainless steel version an absolute bargain.
Only negative I find us the slider to get to sear a steak could have been better thought out ie with some sort of rod.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great pellet grill

I’ve had this a few weeks now but typical British weather meant I didn’t get to try it out straight away. My first observation was ‘this thing is heavy’ and I was a little surprised by just how heavy it is. But, I think that’s partly because it has ‘portable’ in the title.

Made of stainless steel this is portable in the sense you can pick it up and move it, it isn’t fixed to long legs etc. But, I don’t think you’d want to be carrying it around for too long.

If you’re very into BBQs, smoking meats and have a camper van then this is a good option to consider. If you go camping with a car, I’d suggest probably not. The other thing to consider is you need a stand or something else to place it on, that isn’t wooden.

I’ll actually be getting most use out of this at home. I have a very large BBQ whereas this is quite compact in comparison so this will be better when there’s just my wife and I to cater for. The controls are easy to operate and it’s quite handy to let the automatic feeder sort out the pellets, without having to worry about things getting too hot or cold.

The meat probe is accurate too, I tested it a few times against another digital meat thermometer I have and they came out within 1-2c of each other each time.

Overall, I’m pleased with it. It’s quite a niche product in some ways but I like it.

Normally I’d leave it longer before reviewing, but no-one has reviewed this item yet, so I thought I’d give my initial thoughts.

I was originally interested in the earlier listing for this grill, which was at a ridiculously low price. But that item turned out to have issues and was returned.

So I was interested when this upgraded item became available. I asked a question whether this resolved the auger issue and was told it did. The price was higher, but still inexpensive, so I went for it.

I already own a full sized pellet grill, so know what to expect. This grill is for when I’m cooking just for me, and for travelling, being a compact bit of kit.

The grill came fairly well packaged. I think it is risky packing an item this weight with polystyrene, but it survived. Assembly was minimal – legs, handle and rain-cover for the smoke vent. All bolts and tools provided.

I tested it, and it lit fine, and pretty quickly. I then set it to burn at high temp for 45 minutes, as instructed, to clean the grill out.

This may disappoint anyone not used to these types of grill – set on High to 500F, the most it reached was 360F. This is not a fault – it is perfectly normal for a pellet grill operating at just-freezing winter temperatures. Had I run it for longer, it may have got higher. Insulating it with the right kind of fireproof grill blanket would help, but I am not going to even bother. It was perfectly hot enough to cook some sausages, and I have no doubt the grill will perform well in warmer temperatures.

The grill operated as I’d hoped, and there were no problems The control panel is nice and clear.

The sausages, cooked over the “open flame” option, were excellent.

In an ideal world, I’d wait and give it a go at smoking as well as grilling, but I have no plans to smoke in the next month or so, and this item needs a review. When I was testing it out, it did produce some nice clean smoke, so I don’t expect any complications.

A nice little purchase, for half the price of its nearest competitor. I’m happy with it.

An early review... Looks good so far.
