My main issue with a mat is will my hands slip when I’m sweaty, and so far this is holding me in place well.
It’s a nice thickness with a bit of padding but not too much that it throws my balance off for poses.
Very happy.
This is a high quality mat, great for yoga sessions both at home and at the gym.
At 8mm, the thickness is perfect, offering a good level of padding for limbs against the floor.
I initially felt that it was narrower than other mats I’d used previously, but I’ve now got used to it and love using the mat.
There’s also great grip on both sides which I found worked well in a hot yoga room; there’s enough traction so that it’s not slippery underfoot, and it grips the floor.
Elastic straps were included which makes storage and transport much more convenient.
A great choice for both hot and traditional yoga.
The Strongtek Extra Thick Yoga Mat comes neatly rolled in a clear plastic sleeve. When unpacked there’s a carry strap included.
The quality is good with double layered foam construction & the mat is comfortable with a nice level of padding without being too soft.
I train regularly in the gym usually 6 times per week. At the gym I usually focus on dynamic stretching prior & during my workouts. Also, as I prefer to workout in the evenings or night, I’m usually too tired after completing my main workouts to do any static stretching for cooldown.
So I was happy to get the opportunity to receive & test review the Strongtek Extra Thick Yoga Mat for home use. I’ve been using the mat at home mainly for static stretching sessions, plus occasional ab workout & meditation session. It does the job perfectly for what I want as a home workout accessory.

The yoga mat arrived wrapped in plastic to protect from marking during transit, however I feel that it could damage easily during shipping if something sharp came into contact with it. Fortunately, my yoga mat arrived in one piece and was packaged with the black strap.
The yoga mat is 8mm thick and you can actually tell the difference in terms of comfort / cushioning versus the 6mm mat I was using before. The mat measures 183cm x 61cm so is plenty long enough even for me and I’m reasonably tall. Made of TPE it is very durable, doesn’t smell and due to its waterproof nature, it is super easy to wipe down with a damp cloth after using (it dries quickly too). It also hasn’t caused any adverse reactions to my skin and is soft.
I’m aware that other reviews state that their mat didn’t come with a strap, so I suppose I’m just lucky to have received one. The strap is very useful for keeping the mat together and for storage / carrying it around. I chose the blackish green colour, and each side has a textured nonslip surface to provide grip. The front side has a leaf pattern, and the back has a wave pattern, and the colours are neutral enough to be used by both men and women.
I have been using this for a mixture of both yoga and HITT and it has performed well with both activities (without moving, tearing or deforming) so it is appropriate for pretty much any workout activity. Priced at 27.99 at the time of reviewing I highly rate this yoga mat as it definitely is a quality product so would recommend it — but make sure it comes with the strap!
This yoga mat has turned out to be better than expected. I have another yoga mat used by my wife bought from Decathlon and this one feels the same. So, this mat is bang for the buck product.
The yoga mat is a very good size being 183cm in length because many are often far shorter than this. Being 8mm thick the mat is comfortable to use.
Unfortunately my mat came without a carry strap, like some of the other reviewers have stated. I had checked the Amazon box but it was not in there. I think the issue is the rolled ends of the mat are not sealed in plastic. If the mats are wrapped around the straps/the straps placed inside the cylindrical space of a rolled mat; they can fall out of either end. This most likely happened when being shipped to/from an Amazon warehouse or when being handled within a warehouse. I contacted the seller and received a swift response. Then had a bit of a back and forth message exchange. They are going to change the packaging in the future so the carrying strap cannot fall out. It is a shame to not receive the carrying strap. As it would be convenient & useful to have. Such as when storing the mat to keep it neatly rolled up and to assist when carrying it around.
A very good quality and well sized mat for use with fitness and exercise based activities.
First of all, there were no straps with the mat which is something of a disappointment. I deducted one star for that. It is slightly more pricey than most similar mats on the market, but you do get what you pay for. The mat is generously sized and of a good thickness, so I can do both yoga and physiotherapy without fear of injury. It comes rolled, and took a while to flatten completely, but it’s flattened out now! I also love the colours and it’s easy to wipe clean. Recommended.

Material is quite nice it’s very easy to do yoga on this mat as you feel so comfy on this . It’s a non slip mat and you can do your yoga without worrying too much.

This is indeed thick. Some of my exercise mats are thin to the extent that if there is even just small debris, I feel the particles when lying using it. This is thick, so it is much more comfortable. It also spreads evenly creating a really flat surface to exercise on.
There are so many reasons why I love this yoga mat. It’s super comfortable to use, it has the right thickness — not too thick or too thin, it has good size — most yoga/exercise mats are shorter or smaller. It uses eco-friendly material, TPE — odourless, has strong resistance, non-slip, hypoallergenic, and easy to clean.
I also love its blackish green colour. The best reason of all must be that I have started exercising again since receiving this mat, in order to get fit and healthy.
I have mild arthritis in my knees and since I have been working from home about a year ago, it has made me move less as I spend a lot of time sitting in front of a PC most of the time.
It might be a psychological thing as I find this mat motivates me to get up and exercise and do yoga to strengthen my knees.
It’s really important that the mat has a good anti-slip feature so my knees don’t move involuntarily during the exercise, which this mat has.
It arrived nicely rolled and wrapped in transparent plastic, together with a black strap.
In short, I would certainly recommend this yoga mat as it’s a good quality mat that does the job, durable and for 27.99, seems like a fair price to pay for the quality.
Really good quality mat, light weight, great cushioning for my knees (I had problems with knees and my old 6mm mat). It’s not slippy at all. Didn’t get the straps that are mentioned but overall very happy!
This is a generous mat, around 8mm thick it is however a very springy foam plastic sandwich between a grippy rubbery surface.
Size is generous, as the picture shows with a 1 metre Spirit Level for scale.
On a hard tiled surface as shown the mat cushioned my wieght taking the edge of the unyielding floor.
I don’t recall finding a strap in the packet however?
Being rolled and shrink wrapped the mat was want to curl, this may improve in use.
Overall I was pleased with this mat.
This is a really thick yoga mat and really comfortable to use.
Its easy to fold back up and carry around.
Also really easy to wipe down and made well.
This yoga mat is super soft and shields the part of my body that can hurt when doing my stretches! One of the best mats I’ve had so highly recommend! It’s nonslip and easy to wipe down after exercise. Looks to be really durable which makes the price tag more reasonable despite higher than what I’ve paid before.
This is a rather nice yoga mat which is 8mm thick. It is lovely to lie on and seems to remain still when exercising. Although named yoga mat I tried a HIIT class and found it great to use and virtually non slip. Can be used at home or gym and has a carrier strap for carrying
This is a brilliant yoga mat, it is the first that I have found that is the same size as my very old workout mat that is now showing signs of wear.
This mat from Strongtek is very comfortable and at 8mm thick, it should be durable enough for most workouts.
I workout from home these days as the pandemic saw me not renewing my gym membership, and the state of the economy has meant that working out from home is currently the best option. I tend not to do yoga, but mat exercises include a multitude of home workout exercises including CV and strength exercises.
The mat measures in at 183 x 61 cm and as previously mentioned is 8 mm thick. The foam is pretty spongy, but also seems dense enough to last. The green mat is lovely, a relaxing earthy green one side and a vibrant lime green the other.
With mine, the carrying strap was loose inside the Amazon box it was delivered in, so check your packaging before throwing it away.

Nice Mat. It’s long and think and rolls out nicely, ends curl up a little bit but easy enough to lay flat. Doesn’t need something to wrap around to keep it together. Overall lovely and the colour is nice and green isn’t something I’d go for normally.
