    Wow!
I own an older model Oben BC-1 ball head and the technology was just beginning at that time. This Neewer ball mount is amazing. I’m wowed at the ease of use. It locks in place without effort. No drooping. No creeping. The stability is phenomenal! The price point, . I’m using this with my R5 and the 50mm 1.2 lens, and that’s a heavy lens, without any issues. The low profile is fantastic. The locking knob fits under the lens which places the level right behind the camera body in front of me. I had no problems using the large mount knob to lock the camera onto the plate.

I use a PD camera mount which I keep on my camera all the time and because it’s square, I can mount the camera onto the plate in any direction. I’m not using the provided plate.

As you can see in the pictures, the camera is held well horizontally on my C Stand. No issues. I truly recommend this mount. I’ll be getting a second one to replace my aged Oben BC-1.

The low-profile design is sleek and unobtrusive, making it a great choice for photographers who want to keep their setup as compact as possible. The 38mm Arca-type quick release plate is a convenient feature, allowing me to quickly and safely mount and unmount my camera. The rubber pads on the plate protect my device against scratches, which is important to me as a photographer.

One of the things I appreciate most about this ball head is its versatility. The 36mm ball allows me to swivel the camera at 360 or tilt it at 90 in the U-shaped notch, giving me a wide range of angles and positions to choose from. The panning base with a 360 scale is another great feature, allowing me to take precise and fluid panoramic shots. The bubble level is a handy tool for keeping the horizon straight, and the three lock knobs ensure that everything stays securely in place.

I have found this ball head to be particularly useful for food photography. The low-profile design allows me to get close to the subject and capture detailed, high-quality images. The adjustable angles and smooth movement of the ball head make it easy to get the perfect shot, and the quick release plate allows me to quickly change cameras or make other adjustments.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the NEEWER Low Profile Camera Tripod Ball Head and would highly recommend it to other photographers. It is a high-quality, versatile, and reliable piece of equipment that has greatly improved my photography experience.

In the event that experiences change or evolve, updates may be made to this review to address such developments.

Quite impressive for the price especially
Quality ball heads are expensive and this one frankly blew me out of the water a bit. It is quite cheap in terms of price but the quality is there. Although not perfect, it does so many things right.

First off is the build quality. Quite frankly no complaints here from me. The plastic sleeve that uses to tighten the ball is plainly visible and at least so far has not seen any signs of wear; hopefully this trend continues.

In terms of the locking performance, the ball head locks solidly and does not budge even with a larger telephoto lens. This is in part aided by the rather large 36mm diameter ball. The pan lock also works as intended; a lot of the smaller, cheaper Neewer ball heads tend to not be able to lock the pan movements as securely as this one.

If there is just one complaint I would have about this is that the tightening knob for the ball head is pretty massive. It is readjustable which is crucial given the size, but could be slightly smaller.

But overall, a solid ball head that I would have no issue swapping the stock one off my tripods to use.

NEEWER Low Profile Camera Tripod Ball Head is a good replacement head for cheaper tri-pods, or for a mono-pod. It is made in China. It is fairly compact ball head, but built well. It can accommodates my D850 with the 200-500mm lens. without any issues, as long as I have it on a strong tri-pod. The adjustment knobs are easy to turn and lock. It also has the Arca-Swiss plate compatibility. It has adjustable settings for panoramic shoots. For the money you can't beat it! Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery good ball head
This is a very high quality and well made tripod head. It comes with an allen key, a 3/8 to 1/4 inch adaptor and a tool to fit the adaptor. There is a level on the camera plate. The camera fits to the head with an Arca QR compatible plate so you can buy extra ones and attach them to your cameras for quick change.

There are knobs. One for holding the camera in place, one for the ball joint and one for the rotation of the whole mount. Each one feels different for identifying in the dark and the ball joint one is oval in shape to get a good grip even when wearing gloves.

Movement is smooth and the lock mechanism holds firmly. The camera is held very securely at any angle. The base rotation is damped a bit which makes it nice for video panoramas.

Overall I am very impressed. This is a very well designed product made to a very high standard which performs exactly as advertised. Highly recommended.

Works well and feels pretty heavy. Easy to use and very easy to adjust. Adjustments are smooth and easy but solid when locked. The product appears to be sturdily made with a good fit and finish. Overall, Solid and well-made. Recommend it.

This is a great ball head!

Size is perfect and is very easy to install.

I was a little worried it might not be strong enough to hold my camera and lens since they are both very heavy (Sony A7S III & Sony 24-70 F2.8), but it held them perfectly with no issues whatsoever! Very impressed!

    Pros :
    Easy to use
    Easy to install
    Strong ball head

    Good for segmented photography.
Has a level on the pivotal head and plenty of adjustability. There are marking to indicate a degree of rotation from a starting point. There’s also a slide where the camera would mount that would allow you to center your camera for a more accurate rotation. (The slide also has markings of increments.)

With this pivot head I was able to take a not so sophisticated tripod and make it more useful.

    5/5 Clever little attachment!!!

The "low profile" isn't what sells me, it's the entire build-quality that does.
I own quite a few Neewer camera accessories, including ball heads. In the last year or so, they have really stepped up their game and the overall quality and finish of this ball head is superb. I don’t know if they are using a different factory, but the end product is flawless.

This ball head has a lot going for it, including the integrated 360 degree scale to help with panoramas, and the bubble level (not easy to see after the camera has been mounted, unfortunately), and quick release plate.

The smoothness of the ball joint is excellent, and there’s a single locking knob that’s easy to engage and holds tight.

The mount is rated to 33lbs capacity, and while I wish I could say that I have equipment heavy enough to test that claim, I can say that it very easily handles a DSLR with a 400MM lens on it.

The bottom plate does allow you to mount using both a 3/8″ or 1/4″ threads, which means you can attach this to pretty much any type of stand or tripod.

At the end of the day, if you’re looking for a compact ball head mount, you should consider this one.

Sehr stabil. Gut belastbar. incl. Panoramafunktion. Sehr günstig! Kaufempfehlung!

    Superb Unit all round
I have been looking for a ball head for my tripod for a while and this one looked just the job so I ordered it and I haven’t been disappointed.
On opening and inspecting this unit, it looks very well engineered with a full adjustable range of motion and tidy, easy to access thumb screws for locking the set position. Around the base are markings for a full 360 turn and any angle required in-between and at the top but away from anything that can block the sight is a handy bubble level for accurately setting up the tripod.
Unfortunately for me I seem to have misplaced my base plate for my tripod without which I haven’t been able to mount this unit however when connecting it to a camera and testing it, I found the actions to be beautifully smooth and once nipped up it locks firmly in place ready for a master shot. Once I manage to find my missing plate I will be able to test this in the field but just by looking at how well this has been built and how smooth the action is I don’t see any issues arising.
Superb tripod ball head, compact and very smooth.
    Recommended.

An Excellent, Well Made, Low Profile Ball Head Mou
This ball head mount arrives in a plain looking, Neewer branded cardboard box. Inside is the mount itself, a 3/8″ to 1/4″ adapter, an adapter screwdriver plate, hex key, an instruction manual, and a customer service leaflet.

The ball head mount feels very well made and sturdy, with a good finish throughout. The dimensions given in the description are accurate, so I won’t repeat them here.

On the underside of the base is a 3/8″ socket for attaching it to your tripod. A 1/4″ to 3/8″ adapter is included, should you have a tripod with a 1/4″ mounting thread. The adapter has slots in it, so that you can use the included adapter screwdriver plate to tighten/loosen it.

The base itself has a panoramic plate that allows the whole head to rotate 360 around its axis. There are markings around the base to allow you to precisely line up your shot. These markings are at every 5, with a longer marking and numeral placed at every 15. The panoramic plate is locked by a single locking knob.

The ball joint is locked in place by a single locking handle. This handle is spring loaded, so can be repositioned, should your equipment impede your ability to turn it fully. There is no secondary friction control, as found on certain other ball head mounts.

The ball socket allows you to tilt the head about 40 in all plains, except one, where a ‘U’ shaped cut in the body of the mount, allows you to tilt the head a full 90. This is great for portrait shots, or for shooting straight down.

The clamp for the quick release plate is tightened and loosened by a single locking knob, which has knurled sides and as is easy to grip. On the opposite side of the clamp is a spirit level to help level the plate. Disappointingly, there is no spirit level built into the side of the knob, which would allow you to also level the camera when shooting in portrait fashion. Along the top of the jaws of the clamp are measurement markings, in 1mm increments. The clamp section is attached to the ball section with a socket head screw. A hex key is included to help tighten this screw should you ever need to, or should you wish to replace the clamp/quick release plate with an alternative.

The top of the Arca Swiss compatible quick release plate measures 3.3cm wide by 4.9cm long. There are 4 textured rubber pads on the upper surface which provide grip and protection when the plate is attached to your camera or other equipment. There is a 1/4″ D-Ring screw for attaching your camera or other equipment. This can be tightened and loosened by hand using the D-Ring, or by using a screwdriver or coin. On the underside of the plate, at each end, are two tiny safety bolts. These prevent the quick plate (with your expensive equipment attached) sliding out of the clamp and potentially falling on the floor, just as soon as you loosen it.

In use the mount worked really well. It was able to deal with the 5.5kg camera, lens and flash combo I tried it with, without any issue. The controls were easy to access and use, and both the controls and ball and socket joint had a smooth action to them. I must admit though, for some shots, especially macro, I did miss the extra level of control that a secondary friction control gives when moving the camera by very small amounts.

In conclusion I found this ball head mount to be very well made. It worked flawlessly, offering a solid platform from which to take photos at all angles. The only negative I have with it is that lack of a separate friction control. Whilst you can adjust the friction with just the main knob, for some kinds of shooting, I do like the extra level of control that separate friction knob gives you. However, given the price, the fact that this is a low profile mount, and the fact that less and less ball head mounts have this extra control these days, I can’t really knock it down a full star for that. If I could I’d give it 4.5 stars, however as I can’t, 5 stars it is.

~ Amazon asked me to review this product and to give my honest opinion about it. That’s what I have set out to do, so I hope you found it helpful. ~

    Decent quick release
I have this quick release system to replace the lightweight plastic one that came with my tripod. Initial impression is that this is a fairly decent quick release system with some limitations.

It takes a few minutes to set up properly and to get the base aligned straight and I had to use the screw adapter as mine is the smaller fit. This was easy enough to fit and the system comes with a cheap tool to tighten it in.

The quick release is a clamp system rather than the pull lever type on my old one. The lever type is similar to quick release on a bicycle wheel or seat. I like lever type as its quicker but not always as stable. This one takes an extra second or two to release as you have to undo the locking knob to release the camera from the tripod. So long as you have a couple of seconds to spare, this works fine.

If you want to use the tiny bubble leveler it’s easier if you mount this at the back as I can’t see it even under a short lens when at the front. This does mean the numbers will be upside down but not an issue for me.

The build of this product is better than expected. All the moving parts feel well machined and solid. The only weakness I’ve found so far is that the paint has come off the camera base clamp after just a few uses — I can live with that though.

I’m an amateur photographer so budget is a real thing for me, and 36.99 is pocket friendly. Overall, this quick release system meets all but one of my needs — it’s just the extra couple of seconds to undo the release knob that are an issue and a necessary compromise for me.

    Smooth, and study camera head
This camera head has a smooth range of motion and an ideal way of securing an expensive camera in place securely.

The camera head is made of CNC-machined aluminium alloy that supports a load of up to 33lb and comes with 3/8″ bottom thread with the 3/8″ to 1/4″ screw which fits most tripods. Also, it is equipped with a 38mm Arca-type quick release plate which ensures safe and rapid camera mounting. It also has 360 tilt and 90 tilt placed in the U-shaped notch, as well as the three lock knob for better adjustment.

I must say that the security that this one gives is trustable. It is well-made and solid, and when I place my camera, it is secured and locked properly.I also appreciate that the rotatable ball is very smooth and easy to swivel. Yet, it is locked in a certain direction which ensures that the camera will not fall down.

All in all, I must say that the entire equipment appears to be of high quality and should last a lifetime. I would recommend this one.

Heavy-duty ball-head, high max load, very precise and well made. Still good price.
I have a few ball-heads by Neewer – I think this is by far the best of them.

It’s heavy duty gear – the max load of 15 kg makes it perfect for stationary photography, where quality and precision matters over speed and quick, multiple adjustments. It can handle a full-on camera with heavy lens and additional equipment.
The quality of make is high as usual for Neewer. There are some important improvements though. The use of a large ball diameter with low center of gravity, as well as a PTFE layer between the ball and the base – that allows for very high stability levels and very smooth, dampened adjustments. Again, this is precision over speed.
From the bottom – the hole is typical ” which can be converted to ” using the included adapter. I love that the key is also provided in the set.
The pano mechanism is great as usual for Neewer, with scale, enough resistance and nice adjustment using the big metal knob on the side. There’s a bubble spirit level located on the top plate, which for me completes this part.
The ball head angle is adjusted by a large and convenient lever. It’s properly shaped to not interfere with the head. You can also pull it out and change the position in case any additional equipment is in the way. Perfect.
Finally the top plate is Arca-Swiss quick release style. Now some reviewers complained it’s not quick enough to removeAgain it’s not about speed with this ball-head. You can remove the camera without having to unscrew it from the plate, then mount it onto another Arca-Swiss compatible plate. That’s comfortable and speedy enough for me. The rest is about keeping your equipment secure. By undoing the knob a bit, you can move the plate back and forth between two locking screws underneath (which can be screwed in or removed, but they make sure the plate won’t just slide out), to balance out the set. Further undoing will free the plate. It really takes seconds so I’m not sure what all the fuss is about. I’d rather not damage my equipmentBesides if you don’t like the plate, it can be removed and replaced by a different one by using the provided allen key. But I think the plate is great. It’s all metal, has a standard ” screw and rubberized, anti-slip pads on top.

The whole head is the heaviest I’ve had so far – 310g. Doesn’t sound like much, but it’s almost twice as heavy as the other heads I have. Perfect for full scale tripods and heavy equipment to mount. The 37 price is really good – it is an all-metal, quality made, precise head made by a proven brand. I’m very happy to recommend it.

Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

Fluid movements with precision and sturdiness...
I do product and macro photography most of the time and portrait sometimes. I do have good quality photography gear. What I like about this Neewer Swiss Arca quick release low profile ball head is it’s compact size yet rigidity to hold 15kg camera load.

I use my Manfrotto Xpro ball head with Manfrotto 055 tripod for sturdiness and piece of mind. I also have Manfrotto Monopod but the Xpro head is large and heavy so is my tripod. They are fine when I am at home but for travelling I do not take them with me.

This Neewer ball head is very solid built with low profile with acra Swiss quick release and under 36 with 20% voucher enables you to own a very decent quality ball head for all your photography needs. Ball head has absolutely fluid movements without any stickiness or drag. It has 360 rotation for landscape panoramic photographs and flexible 90 tilt for product, macro and portrait rotation. All the adjustable knobs are solid and hold the heavy camera equipments very well. I know that some people have committed that quick release should have a lever not knob but I have over 35 years of photography experience and I have seen accidents where people drop the camera from tripod due to lever either failed to engage or by accidentally touching it. I know that that even lever has a security pin to release the lever but that defeats the object. I am happy with a twist of a knob to release. How fast you want to unmount a camera? If you shooting sports then you would have monopod anyway. My only little niggle with this arca Swiss plate and head as well as other in the market is the way that quick release plate sits on the ball head. It would be far more sturdy and strong if was placed 180 angle on both cameras and ball head as tilting it to right angle for portrait orientation makes me cringe that if quick release arca Swiss plate slide off it will be a disaster. However if you have mounted 180 then it would be hard for gravity to pull. Apart from this I am very impressed with the design and quality.

My tripod and Monopod both have standard screw adapter so didn’t need 1/4 adopter but it is a very nice touch to include it with L key for those who have 1/4 tripods.

I am very impressed and pleased with this Neewer ball head at a very low price. If you are looking for a good quality quick release low profile ball head then look no further. Buy with confidence.

Neewer never fails to impress good quality with one little niggle
I will just make a quick, simple review: NEEWER products never fail to impress and are fast becoming my go-to company for photo accessories.
As usual this is well-made and the weight tells the quality as well as the smooth motion.
Now, straight to the niggle: as this is a quick-release plate why no quick-release lever? It is a bit counter-intuitive as the screw system used does make it a bit of a slow-release system?
However, it is a good quality product, easy to install on a variety of tripods and stands and makes an excellent replacement for what one may refer to as cheaper heads in both price and quality. Definitely recommended.

Replacement Low Profile camera ball head for your tripod
I’ve fitted this to my Manfrotto tripod, though the diameter of the Neewer ball head is smaller I had no problems securing the replacement head,
Attaching camera to the tripod I found a little fiddly, but I had a quick release on my old head, having said that once camera fitted all fine.
There is a small bubble level on the head, so there’s no excuses for wonky horizons.
The ball head moves seamlessly, making fine adjustments easy.
The camera rotates very smoothly from side to side , landscape to portrait.
The kit comes with a smaller thread screw replacement and spanner and hex key.
I love it and would certainly recommend if you are on the lookout for an update to your tripod.

Fluid smooth motion for a keen macro photographe
I like my macro photography so when this tripod ball arrived I was looking forward to using it.
The main thing I was looking for was a smooth range of motion in the ball head and a way of securing it in place securely. This product does both of those proficiently.

The ball is beautifully machined from aluminium and is paired with a PTFA layer in the socket. This gives a wonderful, fluid and frictionless movement that is sometimes not matched by more expensive models.
The whole unit itself seems of good quality and should last a lifetime for a hobbyist photographer.

When I have found the desired angle for that perfect close up shot, I can easily secure things in place with a lever. There is no noticeable deviation between the intended angle and the actual angle and securing. This is a huge bonus because small increments become BIG increments when working with fine tolerances with macro photography.

This is a well recommended bit of kit for any new or experienced photographer.

Professional, slick, smooth precision camera tripod ball head
This Neewer tripod or monopod tilt and pan head come packaged in a clear bag and inside a plain small retail box.
I do alot of photography and like working with professional equipment to get the best out of my work. I use and jump between tripod and my large monopod, depending on what I’m shooting and my environment. I needed a good large head to fit my large monopod and this particular one caught my attention. It comes with a 3/8 adapter piece, Allen key and tool for the 3/8 adapters, depending on tripod or monopod size.
I have much experience with this brand and tripod heads and when I held and operated this one, I was flabbergasted at the precision, the great ball joint movements and dampened actions of this head.
The micro-adjustable top which slides back and forth with measurements etched onto the unit. It also has a spirit level which is so useful.
The top release plate fits all 1/4 inch camera base screw thread and tightens up beautifully via the large knurled screw adjuster knob. All the knows and dials turn like high end professional level equipment that costs much more.
This item is nice and weighty and handled my DLSR easily and useful for regular shooting or product shooting via the appropriate tripod or monopod.
I like how the precision ball joint moves so smooth, slick and precise within the nylon ball joint sleeve. I can rotate and get the exact angle with ease before locking it.
This item is so good and I had such an n amazing experience using it with my DSLR and compact systems camera for different tasks.
It’s big and hefty enough to support a full-sized DSLR.
Whenever you loosen the head make sure you hold your heavy camera to prevent accidental damages to your equipment while making adjustments.
I like this product and highly rate it in every way.
I could see a lot of R&D went into making this tripod head.
    Great amazing value!

This NEEWER Camera mount can turn any tripod into an exceptional tripod. Amazing build quality.
As per usual, NEEWER have created another superb photographic accessory and on this occasion in particular it’s a price tag of just under 37 sounds quite expensive but when you consider the build quality and precise engineering that has gone into this product then I think it warrants the cost.

The quick release plate is basically an add-on for a tripod and in the photos I have posted I used a fairly cheap small tripod I have had for many years and it was literally transformed into a very sophisticated tripod when I added the NEEWER. I think it’s the best quick-release adapter I have used to date. I think that one huge factor that sets it apart from similar products is the really large ball head that has been built in. The comnbination of the large ball and the easy-grip lever affords very quick adjustments without much physical effort and the position is held easily – it really is a joy to use.

In the box you get the Quick Release adapter, allen keys and a spanner/screw wrench, a 3/8″ to 1/4″ bush screw adapter and an explanatory booklet. The action of the adapter feels smooth and damped and in fact there’s no part of the device that isn’t as near perfect as you could expect. Even the rotating knob that releases the plate is large and allows removal of the plate with very little turning effort. There are various printed scales and measure markings around parts of the product. A small bubble spirit-level is a nice addition but in practice I would seldom refer to it as I find that my eye gives me all the levelling assessment I require… it just comes with practice and many years using cameras.

I used to have large SLR cameras but these days prefer compact cameras such as the one used in the images here. Therefore the ball head doesn’t have to work as hard as it might have to with a full sized DSLR but I really don’t think that any camera would be a problem with this quick release plate adapter.

The base of the adapter defaults with a standard 3/8″ tripod bush but there’s a 1/4″ thread-size adapter which you can quickly fit and that’s what I used.

I have decided that the NEEWER Quick Release Plate has made such a difference to my small tripod that it will likely become a permanent partner.

A feature of the NEEWER device is that, helped by the large ball head, it’s possible to get an almost immediate orientation switch from landscape to portrait camera mode. In addition to that you can easily get all manner of weird angles and it’s great fun to experiment.

I can only say that if you have a tripod that needs a bit of help then the NEEWER Quick Release Plate adapter is probably going to be the ideal device. At the price it’s a considered purchase but I think it will last for many years and it’s difficult to imagine how it could be made any better. Because of the difference it has made to my very basic tripod I have to give it 5 Stars.

    - The low profile ball head from Neewer is quite nice. It’s lighter than my current regular tripod head and has about the same resistance in terms of horizontal movement (L-R). However, besides the low profile design, the Neewer head is made of a combination of plastics and metal parts. The knobs are plastics when compared to my current head which have the parts also made out of metal. The advantage of plastics is that it shaves off a few grams making the whole kit a bit lighter. It may not seem much, but for me, when everything adds up it really makes a difference in terms of weight when I’m going out and travelling. I also like the lever design of the ball head screw. This gives me more leverage and I can tighten and loosen it quickly and easier. With my current ball head’s knob design, it’s harder and I have to apply more force to tighten and loosen. This ball head’s lever type is easier as I have more leverage tightening as well as loosen it. Nice head.

Robust, handles a DSLR, can be fiddly.
I’ve paired this head with my Manfrotto 190 tripod and I’m very impressed with performance. There are a couple of niggles which I will summarise later but first the positives.

The head is supplied with an adapter allowing you to mount it on a variety of tripods having differing standard threads. It should easily fit on most tripod bases on the market. In operation, the ball and socket allow you to get your camera into just the right orientation to get the shots you’re after. The head makes use of the Arca-Swiss standard quick release plate and if you have a selection of camera bodies this will allow easy swaps including with the Top Lock plates I already have. There is a niggle here, heads from other manufacturers I have using this design have a quick release lever, while this uses a screw to tighten up the plate slowing down camera changes.

In use the ball and socket locks securely and the camera is rock solid once locked in place. There is also a 360 degree facility allowing you to capture a series of images to stitch into a panorama. My only niggle with this is that the nut to lock and unlock the ball joint can be fiddly to access and the spirit level on the head is difficult to see in some orientations and is only configured for use in the horizontal plane. With a large telephoto mounted, you can’t see the spirit level.

Overall, a well made tripod head with a few compromises you need to work with. However those compromises are made up for with the savings you will make compared with the more well known alternatives.

well-made and locks into place solidly
This is a very well-made ball head and whilst low profile there is nothing low profile about the load capacity of this beast, 8kg is enough to take pretty much most camera and lens combos, even my 1d with 70-200 is no problem, when locked too it locks into place solidly with no wobble, for those two aspects alone it is good value, overall a very good ball head for the price.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSmall but mighty: Good materials/ plenty of metal!
NEEWER Low Profile Camera Tripod Ball Head

This is a small ball head with plenty of capacity for a wide range of uses.

    Likes:
    – Low profile: I have a selection of other heads including ball and this is a helpful addition
    – No sag or slip at any angle when adjustment knobs are tightened (in part due to the low profile)
    – Adjustment knobs are easy to turn and lock
    – Tremendous load capacity (whether 8kg/ 17.6lbs per the description or 15kgs/ 33lbs per the Neewer images: It certainly accommodates my 4kg telephoto DSLR rig without a whimper)
    – Arca-Swiss plate compatibility is a plus
    – The provided plate has removable stops to help prevent the plate from sliding out when inserting/ removing
    – 1/4″x20 thread adapter with key for undersize mounts
    – Bubble level
    – Solid 1/4×20 thumb screw for mounting camera body or lens to plate
    – Scales for panoramic shooting as well as the adapter plate
    – Nice fit and finish

    Dislikes: None

Having decades of photographic experience with equipment from manufacturers whose history goes back even farther, the quality of this Neewer ball head compares favorably. The value is superb. Recommended without hesitation.

Really a nice compact ball head
Just received this today and have to admit I am pleasantly surprised. It is small . . . going to be just right on a new set of those little “twisty-flexible” legs miniature tripod I recently acquired. It is beautifully finished. Excellent work.

There are a couple of small things that I will get to in a moment.

There are three knobs/levers to control everything. At the base there is a knob that locks rotation on a graduated base ring. Perfect for those who are doing panoramic work. Next we have the ball that pivots and moves freely throughout it’s space. It’s movement is locked by a small lever . . . not too big, not too little . . . just right. On the head there is an Arca style plate with slide locks underneath. The plate is held firmly by a locking screw. There is a small spirit level on the top plate. The whole assemblage works very well. I have a Kirk and 2 ProMediagear brackets which fit without any glitches into the top plate.

It comes with a reducing adapter and tool, and an allen key to remove the Arca adapter. Oddly, there is no key included for the slide locks (not really needed though) and for the knob that clamps the ball.

I am frequently critical of Neewer stuff because they often seem to only try for 70-80% when they put something on the market . . . they almost always seem to have some flaws.

This is nearly perfect . . . and I am looking at it in comparison to my other heads, being a Manfrotto gear, and two Foba ball heads . . . tough competition . . . but surprisingly, this is almost up there, at a tenth of the price. Good work Neewer.

There is however two points. The first being that they should have included an allen key for the slide locks and lever. The second is a bit more serious. The part that receives the ball is rather low cut and consequently the teflon (or whatever they use) “sleeve” that suurounds the ball is exposed to the elements. Not really a problem if you are in studio all the time . . . but if you are out in the wilds, it becomes a liability. Dirt, small grains of anything, can be destructive to the smooth operation of the ball. That is a bit of a failure Neewer . . . again. If you do get one of these, I would reccomend having a baggie or a bit of plastic wrap in your kit so you can protect it if you end up at the beach, the desert, wherever there might be a problem with particulate in the air.

Otherwise, for it’s price it is a great little ball head, which I would reccomend . . . but bring a baggie . . . just in case.

    Well engineered, high quality item
I’ve been using this on a Smallrig tripod which made for an excellent combination after I inserted the includes 1/4″ adaptor in to the base of this head. The design and engineering of the Tripod Ball Head is tip-top; rotation is very smooth but once locked the ball-head doesn’t ‘creep’ out of position.

Swapping cameras fitted with Arca-Swiss plates is simple enough. You do however, need to undo and tighten the locking knob to change over; a true quick-release setup would use locking cam-lever. A plate is included so you can get up and running; Arca-Swiss compatible plates are about 5.

I did find the bubble-level rather small which made levelling the ball head fiddly. Also there’s no handle, which is little odd as the head has the 360 degree panning scale.

35 at time of review, I’d say very good value for money so recommended.

    Great smooth bundle
The pan movement is fluid and smooth.

The ball moves smoothly and adjusting the camera is easy. The grip is firm and can lock everything in place. There is no restriction control by itself, one lever does both. When you engage in the u notch, at some point the restriction lowers, and you need to be careful not relying too much on the friction to hold your gears.

My DSLR with weight not much more than 1kg. I can’t review for bigger gears, it will hold more than that, but I can’t test how much. This is a little overkill for my gear, although it is the same height as my 25mm ball head, which is still 180g compare to this one with 280g. it is worth the small extra.

The price looks OK considering you get both the ball head and an arca swiss mount. This looks to be a rebranding, you may get deals from other brands too.

Overall I’m happy with the product, there was no surprise, the finish is good, and it works good.

    Gut verarbeiteter kleiner Kugelkopf
    Hallo,

A solid and robust tripod ball head.
This low profile ball head from Neewer is very well built. There is plenty adjustability on the ball head, which is nice and fluid, plus a locking knob for the quick release plate which measurement to deal in settings. Opposite to the locking knob there is a spirit level bubble and at the bottom of the ball head unit there is a 360 degrees panning scale with locking adjustment. Also at the base there is the normal 3/8″ screw hole to mount to various tripods/monopods, light stands and also a 3/8″ to 1/4″ screw adapter which is so useful. Of course the quick release plate can be used with DSLR’s camcorders, etc as It has the standard 1/4″ mounting screw.

Top quality with smooth movements and quick locking thumbwheels
I have always found Neewer accessories well designed and well made, and this tripod head is no exception. It’s a medium/heavyweight head which is a little shorter (more low profile) than many others which helps make it feel more stable and closer to the tripod.

The top plate is standard Arca quick release, with a silver metal thumbwheel requiring just less than one revolution from locked tight to fully released. Four non- slip pads on the top keep the camera from slipping/turning. Also on the plate is a standard spirit level bubble.

The ball and socket incorporates a PTFE sleeve between the ball and inside of the socket and makes for a super smooth movement, helped also by a lever (rather than wheel) to lock the joint.

Below this is the rotating plate, controlled and locked by a smaller black coloured thumbwheel. The plate is drilled with a standard 3/8″ thread for fitting onto the tripod, and there is also a 3/8″ to ” adapter for use if required.

Two features make this ball head really stand out:

    1) All three controls are different such that they become intuitive to the touch and avoid confusing one with the other. Large silver thumbwheel/lever/small black thumbwheel.

    2) The PTFE layer between ball and socket (reminding me a little of a hip joint replacement) makes for a silky smooth action with no slight judder or catches as sometimes found on metal-on-metal surfaces.

Excellent quality and great value for money ball head which will look after the most expensive of equipment with ease.

Good Quality and a Real Heavyweight!
This ball joint arrived in its own branded cardboard box.

    The box contains:

    * The ball head.
    * Allen key.
    * 3/8″ to ” screw adaptor insert.
    * Key for screw adaptor.
    * Instructions.
    * Customer service leaflet.

I have several devices made by Neewer and I’m always impressed by the quality they produce for the price. This is no exception.

The first thing that strikes you about this mount is the weight. It is very solidly built with an all metal construction.

The ball lock goes from easy movement to fully locked with just a turn and the lever doesn’t foul the tripod plate when fully turned (as some do). Similarly, a turn of the thumbscrew lock on the panoramic rotation base goes from fully locked to easy movement. Rotation is very smooth with a slight damping. It feels perfect.

The Arca-Swiss quick release plate locks/unlocks with just a couple of turns of the thumbscrew (see video). The quick release mount also has a small spirit level and when tested it was found to be true.

In the base there is a 3/8″ socket and the adaptor insert screws in to fit standard ” tripod screws and a key is provided for this (see picture).

For the purposes of this review I mounted the ball head on a small table top tripod but this will be going permanently on my heavyweight tripod.

This is a versatile, high quality, heavyweight ball joint and I wouldn’t hesitate to mount expensive equipment on it in full confidence it will be safe and solid. At 36.99 it is extremely well priced considering the high quality of the materials and workmanship. This mount definitely deserves 5 stars!
