Beautiful and amazing battery life
I was worried at first when the box arrived damaged. But it looks like the good packaging job saved it.
As someone who has had a day 1 switch up until yesterday I’ll note the differences.
The battery life I wanna say is exceptional! I’m used to have to charge inbetween online games with my old switch. This one though? I played hours of online and i didn’t even technically need to charge it before bed. I was shocked lol
The graphics on handheld look better too. The colours really pop!
I actually like that you have to click the home button 3x too. Stops our cat from unlocking the screen when in sleep mode xD
The quality of the switch is also really nice. I love the texture feeling and I love the larger screen! Totk and splatoon 2/3 are extra special now! Even Unite!
In short. Expect a larger screen, excellent battery life, a beautiful switch and dock (also matching handsfree wrist things too – so you don’t throw the joy cons or drop them) – matching by means of the colour not design. And don’t forget the colours pop!
Looks ace
I’d never played splatoon before buying this, I just liked the colours & style. I think the standard switch looks plain, so paid extra for a bit of funk. I love it & splatoon 3 too
Great upgrade from a switch original version 1
To clarify upgraded from a version 1 original switch to this oled splatoon version the differences are huge if your going from original as it’s better battery life better sound and Internal memory is 64 instead of 32gb it has a better kickstand and off course the screen is much better quality but only slightly bigger this upgrade is only really worth it if u play more portable which I do so it’s great
The version I got is splatoon just because simply it looks fantastic never played 2 or 3 keep meaning to buy them the joycons are fantastic with their mixed colours the main unit has a few outlines of characters that are visually appealing but the dock is a great addition white with a greenish yellow splat on it overall a great looking device recommended to any one
Looks and feels so good, dunno if I should make it my main handheld
Looks and feels so good, dunno if I should make it my main handheld.
The screen looks good, battery is the same as V2, aesthetics are amazing and the dock is alright with integrated LAN port. Also it’s nice to have double the onboard memory.
Purchased for a trip to the in-laws abroad, and it was just the ticket.
Console itself is visually stunning, with vivid colours and sleek design. The screen is amazing and bright, and I had no problems playing Zelda for hours on end. The controllers are smallish, but never uncomfortable even after long sessions.
Battery life is great, and with USB-C can be charged in use which is what I did. The downside there is that the charger cable connects at the bottom of the unit exactly where I wanted to rest it on my belly during the aforementioned Zelda marathon. Not a deal breaker.
I’ve not played on it in the dock as that’s not what I purchased it for but it’s great to have that functionality and choice for when my son is a little older and it will be passed to him.
It’s been switched on for over a month now and hasn’t missed a beat, testament to the quality of the hardware.
Software is simple and easy to find your way around for fhe first time, having the touchscreen helps in menus, connecting to WiFi etc.
The Switch has been going for over six years now, and I don’t see many ways to improve it barring updated internals.
Easily a 12 out of 10.
Absolutely beautiful
I have been trying to sell my old switch to get this switch for about 3 months now, and just received it today, my experience is still quite new, but my short experience has been absolutely amazing. I must say the wait was worth it, as it looks absolutely gorgeous.
Great product!
Bought for my son as an upgrade to his original switch , he had already got the game so was happy to get the design of the new Oled console for him . Nice colours and good specs.
Brought this mainly for my nephew to use when he stops over, I am a PS5 player so don’t think I will play the switch much. It has a nice colourful screen and the kick stand on the back is much better than the original switch as it goes across the whole back of the console. Battery life so far has been okay and no issues with stick drift or any other hardware defects. Would be nice if Splatoon 3 actually came with the console, not sure why you would sell a specific game themed design without including the actual game but the custom design of the joy cons and dock is actually nice.
Great Upgrade
I finally decided to upgrade my launch console to one of these fancy limited edition OLED models, and I’m glad I did. My main reason for upgrading was actually the battery life in handheld mode – playing Pokemon Violet, I found I had to charge the console after around 90-120 minutes of play (the shorter time being when playing tera raid battles online). On this, it’s easily 3+ hours, a considerable improvement. I was a little torn between the Pokmon and Splatoon versions, but ultimately preferred the design of the latter, particularly the gradient effect on the joycon.
The OLED screen itself is far better than the LCD screen – it’s larger and more vibrant, but I did notice greens and reds have that exaggerated look to them. My LG OLED TV has far more nuanced, natural-looking colour by comparison (the Switch OLED screens are made by Samsung).
Though my launch machine still runs fine and has no real signs of wear and tear, you can hear the fan kick in rather noisily when starting a game, until it settles down after a few minutes. This new model uses a far more efficient processor, so requires a little less cooling, and it even uses less power when docked (6 watts max, which seems impossible when you consider the PS5 and XSX use around 200 watts each!)
The updated dock seems to offer an additional benefit – “match TV power state” actually works properly on this device, whereas my old one would turn the TV on but wouldn’t switch to the correct HDMI input. I also couldn’t turn my old console on before the TV, as it would just display a black screen, but that too is now fixed. Not major things, but welcome nonetheless.
On top of that, the magnesium alloy body has a real premium feel to it. It should certainly be considerably more durable than the plastic shell of the non-OLED models.
If you don’t have a Switch already, this is easily a 5-star device, as it’s a fantastic console with countless fantastic games. But if you’re considering upgrading, my score is based on my experience doing just that.
Good
Misleading as thought I would get the game with it as the 100 of a difference? I thought I would have got the game with it? Just saying , but very nice console so mind you don’t get the game with i
Splatoon is one of my favourite Nintendo games so when I found out they were releasing this switch I had to trade my old model for this one! If you’re a fan and you’ve been thinking of upgrading I say go for it. The switch is stunning and the colours are lovely. Happy Gaming 🙂
I got this console from my mum on my birthday! I love it and Splatoon 3 is such a cute game! This is my first ever switch console that I have ever owned. This console is light to hold but not cheap light. The joycons are great for single player or playing a game with someone else. The colours of the console are so vibrant and bright, the console is so funky and eye catching.
This is my third Nintendo Switch. Since the old model I bought in 2017 drifted, I decided to buy this limited model. The OLED screen greatly improves the look and feel, which is great!
Cool design.
Came from an Og switch and this one definitely feels more premium. The colour combination its very cool, screen is even better compared with the old lcd. The back stand is a way more sturdier. From this special edition love the textured prints around the console.
I wasn’t sure whether or not to get this, as I already have a switch lite, but it was too nice to pass up, and I’m so glad I bought it! The colours on the screen are so vibrant and pretty, it really enhances gameplay! And the sounds are much clearer. The internal memory is almost tripled too, which is excellent.
If you like to play in handheld mode, and you aren’t sure whether or not to upgrade to OLED, then I say go for it! It’s been totally worth it for me! And what better model than this colourful limited edition!
This switch is absolutely stunning
I’ve been debating buying an OLEd model for a while now and let me tell you
It’s worth every last penny
The screen quality is miles improved the colours are vibrant and bright even games seem to run smoother!
The joycons are actually beautiful
I just can’t recommend this switch enough
