Whilst not the top HD spec, very acceptable picture and sound. No problem recommending for the price.

Simple to use, bright clean pictures. Can’t fault it. Does what it says on the tin, or box in this case.

I use the DVD player mainly to play Tai Chi tutorial videos and the size is a good compromise between being large enough to see and small enough to be portable. The recorder remembers where the DVD stopped playing which means I can practice one element, stop, then resume the practice later. Early days, but the build quality and functionality seem good.

I bought the Oakcastle because there was a deal advertised and adding the majority kids speakers – which my husband and I use! – we go an amazing package deal at a discount. Everything 70. I love how I can attach the one headphone into the other so we can both watch the same dvd on video not annoying anyone especially in a plane.

But, I decided I wanted to play my awesome new CDs from several gigs I went to – Evanescence, Within Temptation, Visions of Atlantis, Temperance, Apocalyptica etc – and so invested in quality speakers to go with the player.

I’m keen on the fact that their products are made in Cambridge on the UK. I fell in love without having tried their products because more often than not risking buying Chinese options it’s a hit or miss. My heart was all in.

And boy was I right! This is my first in depth review. I love the player, I love the speakers attached to it. Everything is good quality. I signed up for the warranty of course as you do.

Take a look at the video. Sounds is amazing. I’m so very pleased!

5.0 out of 5 stars Oakcastle Dvd/cd player paired with Majority speakers

I was very dissatisfied with the picture quality of my previously purchased DVD. This one was a far bette4 choice and seemed to be a U.K. product so even better in my opinion!

I love it. The picture quality is great, and there are several settings you can fiddle with including screen size and speaker output. iIt’s easy to use, though the sound only goes up to 20 which is fine for me. I was worried it might be too low due to other reviews as i live in a noisy household. I haven’t tried headphones yet or anything other than a dvd, but I was pleased to see it can read sd cards and seems to be able to play music too.
I have two kids and my partner works from home so it’s nice to not have to fight for a screen! I’ve got a tablet for streaming services but I missed my old dvd collection that I’m working through, I love retro TV like Colombo and can now take my dvds to the kitchen or in bed whenever I have some time. Highly recommended.

A very welcome Christmas gift for my mum who is housebound and enjoys watching old movies and box sets. Very easy to understand controls and the 15 inch screen is plenty big enough. A great purchase and was delivered two days after ordering!. Would definitely recommend this seller.

I went away for the weekend to stay with family which I know don’t have the same interests in films as myself so I bought this amazing portable DVD player from one of my favourite brands Majority. The unit is compact and lightweight, yet mighty when it comes to picture quality and sound. I still own dvds myself of my favourites comfort movies which was perfect for me.

The picture quality was fabulous which was displayed on a 17.5 inch screen, ideal size and the sound was crisp which I would expect from Majority.

It comes with a built in rechargeable battery which I left to charge overnight on first charge. To test the battery life I managed to watch three movies the Twilight series, don’t judge
    I’m team Jacob of course.
I still had charge left after the three movies which is very impressive.

What I loved about the player itself is the flexibility of the screen. The screen itself will swivel and tilt at all angles within its swivel point and will even fold back on itself should you wish to wall mount or put in a see through storage container which I have at the back of the car for passengers.

What I would love is the Bluetooth function to connect to my headphones to keep up to date with the modern technology however it isn’t a must, it’s just a bonus.
Overall I would rate the dvd player 9.5 out of 10 and highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a portable dvd player.

Having a slim, light weight player at hand for those random days out to the park, long car journeys or like me staying away with a relative who only likes watching old school horrors

I must finish up with Majority are an amazing company to support because every purchase they give back to our planet by planting a tree. What more could you want?

I am in love with this DVD player well built, good quality, I love all the extra attachments for your television and car, usually you have to pay extra, but this was all included.
The picture quality is very good for the price, the only thing that needs tweaking is the saturation, the colours can come across very intense for some movies, but you can balance this out.

Overall this has been one of my best buys from Amazon, highly recommend.

I tried a portable DVD player of a different brand, but the sound quality was awful even on the replacement device. I saw this one after getting a refund, and I’m super happy with the quality. It plays DVDs, VCDs and CDs. The spinning noise is minimal during playback and the sound is excellent through headphones.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this for my 82 year old mother who is immobile and can’t move across the room to put a dvd in the dvd player that is attached to her TV. The size, simplicity (not too many buttons!) and weight (she can move it from her table to her chair in front of her) are all excellent but unfortunately the volume is very quiet – even at maximum so I have had to invest in a portable speaker to plug into the headphone jack socket. This works fine, just not quite as convenient as if the volume was sufficient as she now has to move dvd and speaker!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a nice piece of equipment for a niche market where you want to get away from streaming or get the kids off tablets and the internet.

Starting with the un-boxing, the DVD player comes well packaged and well protected. Inside you’ll find a remote control, batteries supplied, UK mains charger, car charger and AV leads.

It comes with a built in rechargeable battery which I left to charge overnight on first charge. To test the battery life, I let the kids loose with their favourite movies over a few days and the charge lasted a good 6+ hours before needing to be charged up again. More than enough to keep them happy for any car journey.

Switching on the device is easy, as you would expect, with a simple slide switch on the side control panel. Size wise, its 17.5″ and has a 15.6″ HD screen which delivers a clear and sharp picture coupled with good sound thanks to the 2.0 stereo sound speakers as seen in the video. To test it, I used a back-up version of X-Men 2 on DVD-R format and it performed really well. As it claims, it will play multi format DVD/CD which I tested using camcorder recorded videos on DVD+R/RW and it performed just as well. The screen itself will practically swivel and tilt at various angles within its swivel point and will even fold back on itself should you wish to wall mount it using the two incorporated screw slots on the back. Handy if you want to put it up out the way and this is where the supplied remote control comes into its own. Talking remote control, it has a simple layout and gives you complete control of all the functions available on the DVD player itself.

It will also play CD’s but obviously does not perform as well as more dedicated, and more expensive, stereos, although saying that, it performed better than some I’ve used. If playing CD’s, it has the handy option to switch off the LCD screen to extend battery life even further.

If you don’t want to be carrying around CD’s/DVD’s, not a problem as you can load up films/music onto a pen drive or SD card and just plug it into the incorporated USB or Media slot on the side of the machine and away you go.

The side panel also has a standard 3.5mm headphone socket which is useful for a more personal experience or when you don’t want to be in the car with a movie going full blast in the back. The only addition which would have been useful is Bluetooth connectivity for headphones but this is a personal view as the five year old has Microtia so cannot use headphones. That said, we have a plug in Bluetooth transmitter which plugs into the headphone jack and enables him to connect directly to his bone anchored hearing aids so easily overcome.

    Nice piece of ki

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNow I like my technology, I can remember looking at portable DVD players in the late 90’s and they were around 1200. It wasn’t until 2003 I bought my first portable DVD player and that cost around 400.
Fast forward to 2022, I have two portable DVD players gathering dust and no longer used.
However in that time my collection of DVD’s swelled to around 1000 films.

I still use a DVD player to this day at home. I travel with work quite often and quite often like to watch a film, but my old portable players aren’t the best and have a small screen.

Now along came the oak castle 120. Purchasing from Amazon as always relatively easily and at a good price.

Like everything it was packaged well.
The device is 12″ with a 10″ screen, built in speakers, USB slot, SD Card slot, wall and car charger plus remote control.

It has a headphone Jack too, just so you don’t annoy the passengers on the train.

I put Top Gun in as my review of the device.
Initially the disc spin was noisy but it did seem to settle down and wasn’t noticeable.
The player seems sturdy and the screen can spin 180 degrees.

The sound is good, but isn’t amazing and would benefit from the ability to connect to a Bluetooth device, although it could be connected via a headphone Jack.

To listen to a CD, it’s probably better to connect your headphones to listen to it, I used my beats, this drained the battery a little quicker though.

It’s multi-region, so that is good news for me as I used to buy quite a few region 1 back in the day.

It’s good how it can give you around 5 hrs of playback on one charge, more than enough for a couple of films.

The only thing I think this device needs is Bluetooth, for connection to a speaker or headphones.

In an age of advancing technology of Blu ray, 4k and streaming. Would i recommend this product..yes I would.

    Great little piece of ki
