The D570-GL comes well packaged with everything you need to get you started, including a lanyard so that you don’t lose it on your first trip.
The attached photos were from a UK diving trip, so conditions were quite challenging for a small torch like this and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the torch was to operate with dry gloves.
The added feature of this light is that it has a green laser pointer, which I’ve tried to show in the photos. I could see how this might help guides or instructors pointing out features to their students, but was curious as to how it might help recreational divers.
Normally you can attract your buddy’s attention from more than an arm’s length by flicking your torch into their torch beam, but in some conditions or if their light is a lot brighter than yours, this sometimes does not work, however the laser pointer is ideal for this and can be easily operated by holding the on/off button down.
After trying to take a decent picture of the laser pointer, I also tried the light for constant light photography, as you can see, the D570 provides an even light with no appreciable colour cast or ‘hot spots’. when used for this application.
In conclusion, the light is small enough to fit in a BCD or drysuit pocket, so can be used a a backup or main torch in better conditions.
