High carbon Japanese steel was chosen for Phoxinus Circle hooks due to its superior strength. After each hook is shaped, an additional process is used to forge the hooks resulting in them being even stronger.

Provided you bait these correctly (leaving space free of bait on shank and tip) they will always (almost!) lip hook the fish. Also useful as upper hook on pennel rigs.

Very good value for the money; quite strong and hold onto baits well. Do keep in mind that you should strike when setting the hook as this hook basically sets itself. So make sure to reel in to set it and you’ll have no issues.
Was wary of the strength of the hooks given the bargain price but tried the 8/0 size out in Norway and was very impressed.
Excellent hook-up rate (if you use them as you are meant to use circle hooks, without the strike) and great strength. No problems with winching up hake, ling, pollack and rays from 100 metres+. Just check that the point is still sharp and straight each time before dropping down – I had one blunted on a rock which resulted in the only missed bit of the trip. I strongly recommend these if you are on a budget!
Brilliant for sea fishing
I use these on 80lb line crimped on.
And have caught lots of skate, bass, dogfish and even pin whiting.
Easy to unhook and definitely my preferred hook style.
