I love a lot of things about this handheld vacuum cleaner, variable suction and the light that shows you where the dust is lurking stand out. But the dust bin is the usual pain to empty and it weighs heavily in your hand, so it may not be suitable for anyone with poor grip.
Vacuum cleaning is easy using this, with great suction. I have found that it gets stuck on the edge of some mats and it is a bit tricky to remove, needing to be switched off and unraveled instead of being a quick flick of the wrist as I have found with others. But blockages, such as an errant safety pin have been easy to remove without needing to disassemble the mechanism and the anti-hair wrap does seem to be working well, with nothing on the bar as yet despite many months of use.
The dust bin is very small and you will need to get into the habit of emptying it daily or even after a single room clean as it fills up very quickly. Fluff clogs it up and no end of tapping gets it to fall into the bin, so it is a hands on affair and dust everywhere.
One thing that does make a very nice difference is disconnecting the pipe from the vacuum; every handheld vacuum I have used has been a real struggle at this point, but this one comes apart with ease.
I love a lot about this vacuum, but it isn’t perfect and the main things you need to be aware of are the weight and the small, tricky to empty bin. But a good light to help you track dirt, good suction, anti-hair wrap and good manoeuvrability are redeeming features that make it worthy of consideration.
Lovely hoover works well but I feel like it’ wld snap were yu take of the mini hoover at top bit flimsy it not as sturdy as my old one but it’s great that it’s cordless so much easier to use works well
Absolutely brilliant, not too heavy, easy to manoeuvre and charges quickly.
Best vacuum cleaner I’ve owned and I’ve had a few in my time, would recommend.
Bought the Shark during black friday’s sales and used it for the past 4 months. It’s great for daily vacuum and it lives permanently in the kitchen! A bit disappointed that it cannot fit below the couch but you can have everything. Also it’s not the best on stairs.
The first cordless vacuum I’ve had and the vacuum power is poor even on Higher setting. If you have pets this one won’t do for dry muck on carpets compared to your normal corded vaccum. Are old corded vaccum was great by comparison & the battery life isn’t great. It will do for a quick blast about but if you need to spend time on a room with mess & it struggled to lift muck you end up doing it twice which eats into it’s battery time.
Outside of the power being so so it’s a nice lightweight vacuum.
(2 bed & a box room house, downstairs is wooden floors & upstairs is carpet).
A good hoover, works well on both carpet and flooring. Does not stand well on it’s own, we lean ours against the wall propped up with a chair. It takes a while to change but can last upwards of 40 minutes constant.
I like the fact that it’s quite light and easy to move around with and easy to store away. Wish the battery could last a bit longer, without having to recharge it.
This is a great stick vacuum, the best I’ve had so far. It’s lightweight and easily manuvered, suction is very good and it’s easy and quick to empty. My only issue is the motor sits at the top which means you have to remove it for the rest to be freestanding. I think you can rejiggle it so it’s further down but I don’t bother too fiddley. The light on the head is helpful to reveal any dirt you might have missed. All in all I’m very pleased with it.
The hoover has good suction with a boost button, its brilliant at picking up pet hairs which do not tangle up in the main unit, battery life is good enough, it manages 2 floors and one very thick rug.. Happy with it but would prefer a base station that helps the unit stay upright. Comes with a good assortment of tools
After years of owning Dyson, our elderly one exploded just before Christmas. Though I’d try a cordless vacuum cleaner but was horrified a the cost of Dyson’s. This Shark was on offer and we are overall quite happy with this.
Good points:
– lightweight and easy to move about between floors
– cleans well
– charging is fast
Not so good points
– full charge lasts for a fairly short time especially if you use boost
– small container for dust means frequent emtpying
– supplied tools seem a bit poor compared to Dyson power vacuum
I will probably end up buying a standard mains vacuum at some point for jobs when the Shark won’t cut it (ie DIY mess clearing up).
Good vacuum, no tangles so far but I will update once it’s had more of a run with my families very long hair. Battery doesn’t last long. No where near advertised. Easy to use. Does seem to have good suction on our carpet. Overall happy with it so far. Only disappointment at this stage is battery life. Not used any attachments yet, will update once I’ve used them.
Well, what can I say. Amazing, awesome, ideal, practical, to name a few. It’s so good I have retired the Dyson cylinder pets to swim with the fishes.
I have a moderate disability that has meant hoofing the Dyson around to clean just wasn’t possible without spending hours in bed the day after due to burn out of energy reserves.
Sharki, as I affectionately call the new Shark purchase, glides everywhere effortlessly. With a hand light to guide my way, Lego bricks are safe once more. The array of tools is mind boggling but I’m finding reasons to use it. The extreme ease with which it slots together, comes apart, cleans, charges, OMG I think I’ve fallen for a tall grey stranger named Sharki. Marvellous piece of kit. Bonus option…if you get your teenagers to unpack and assemble they love it so much they’re actually using Sharki…..several times a week
I thought initially I would send it back as it seemed quite heavy with the dirt collection cup on the top of the stick. I then realised it probably would feel easier once the motor was going and I was right. It can’t stand on its own when you are in the middle of hoovering like my old G-Tech so you have to lay it down or lean it against something. I have read reviews where people say they have to buy a bracket to stand it on once finished hoovering, but you don’t need to do that. Disconnect the hand held part and then it slots into the bottom handle allowing it to stand up on its own.
It collects dust and dirt well. Not so sure about the hand held part on the stairs, could be better. Handy though having accessories for the car to get in awkward corners. Overall, I would recommend it.
Shark vacuum stick is light weight easy to use.Good suction on floor and carpet.
Sadly if you use high powdered suction it reduces battery life by 50% so sometimes only have 30 minutes life!As I live in a large Victoria house with a lounge dining room original floorboards
The battery often needs recharging before hoovering rest tiled flooring downstairs!
I understand i could by a replacement battery buy they cost extra 100.00!
Handy that has durabily to be easily made into hand held vacume.
A very sturdy machine which is great for picking up all those awful bits that appear on my carpet and its great for picking up hair and i am very pleased that these hairs dont get entangled in the roller.
A bit on the heavy side though but not a problem.
Obviously, its early days yet and i have had two different machines in as many years , both of makes i have never heard of and each only lasting 6 months or slightly more before burning out and are no longer in business meaning the only thing i could do was to throw them away, a total waste of time and money and although they both did the job , they were a false economy , so i decided to spend more money and buy this product as its well known and i hope i have chosen wisely .
So far so good, i am very pleased.
I’m happy with this cordless hoover, it’s not too heavy, easy to charge and the battery lasts well. However I was a little disappointed with the suction, it is not as good as my old vax, and it’s a bit fiddly to empty. I got it as a Black Friday deal with a substantial amount off.
he only thing I don’t like about this cleaner is that it runs out of charge very quickly (overnight) and you are constantly having to charge it up. The other thing is that it does not stand up on his own when not in use and you have to practically lay it down as it seems to be top heavy
Good piece of machine, We had couple of other brands machines before but really like this one from Shark (IZ103UKGB) ( we also had corded one from Shark)
Only disadvantage is that company dont proivde any wall mount bracket to hang this on the wall to secure the machine. You have no option other than to lay this machine on the floor which is very annoying.
I did contact with Shark and they advise me to buy one from ebay or Amazon as they dont provide brackets for the Cleaners.
To be honest, these plastic Brackets cost only few pounds if not Pennies to manufacture in China and company like Shark should supply with their machines.
Even very unknow Brands do provide wall mount kits with their machines.
Really disappointed with this issue and I have to spend an extra 15 to buy the Brackets.
Required lots of charging, I live in a small 2 bed flat and need to charge it every other day. Good suction, lightweight and easy to use. Comes with lots of attachments which is handy for cleaning the car. Love that it’s cordless. Overall a great buy.
This vacuum is very light and so much easier to use than an upright. The tools are excellent, and I even purchased the car cleaning kit.
However, as I have 3 dogs I need to use the extra power suction on my carpets and so the battery runs down quite quickly.
Overall, I like it and it’s easy enough to charge.
Brought that vacuum cleaner on prime day for good price and so far happy with product suction is good, easy to emptied waste.Used for cleaning car also as have some extra tools for car included.
Only for minus will be picked battery should be working for me 1h minimum but at last at present is 40min so only option to get second battery.
I needed a new vacuum cleaner and went for this model particularly because it was cordless and has a car kit adapter. This was a must as my car is parked 50m away from the house and there is no electricity there.
I found it overall to be a very good tool with its various angles of attack with a maneuverable head and its interchangeable suction tools. It’s great for stairs, windowsills and for both carpets and hard floors. There is a suction booster as well for those stubborn bits. There is ample charge to go through the whole house in one go but be aware that the suction times halves if you use the suction boost facility continuously. I found this particularly when cleaning my car. It charges from empty to full in about three hours and the indicators show the level of charge remaining.
I didn’t find that with all the weight at the top that it was a strain to use, it’s not very heavy. It’s easy to empty and clean and is far better than the cleaner I had previously.
Overall, a very good vacuum cleaner and good value for money.
**to be clear I am reviewing model IZ103UKGB**
I spent a long time debating buying a cordless Shark – I’ve had a corded upright for 5 years and loved it’s performance compared to my previous Dyson. I finally went ahead with a bargain on Prime Day and I’m so glad I did. My house has never been cleaner because it’s always there to hand unlike the big model that requires lugging around and plugging in. I’m sure there will be some cons but I’m yet to find any. It picks up right to the edges, the suction is good on both carpet and hard floor – I have a 4-bed 3-storey house and it lasts from top to bottom for an every-day vacuum around. I also have pets and teenagers so it’s great for hoovering up after them! Personally I’m delighted with my purchase and I do wish I’d got one sooner. But I have it now and it’s a pleasure to use. I don’t find it particularly heavy but then I’m used to the big corded model which does weigh a lot. I’m also able bodied so it’s not an issue. I took it round to my mums (she’s in her 60’s) for her to have a go with and she said she found it quite heavy but not as unwieldy or heavy to manoeuvre as the larger corded model which she owns too. Mum is going to buy one having tried mine.
