Retro style storm lantern.
This is a modern take on the traditional storm lantern. It’s nicely made, bright and rechargeable. It’s going to look very much at home in our bell tent and as perfectly to the glamping aesthetic.
I like this lantern a lot, and am happy to recommend it to others.
I always try to write an honest and unbiased review of all the products I order. My reviews are only my opinion, of course, but I hope they help.
Absolutely amazing!
Amazing vintage camping light.
It arrived quick and it was well packed. It is very sturdy and very well made. This vintage lantern uses mature bamboo as the base and ramie weave as the handle, which is both beautiful and retro, yet innovative and artistic. Bamboo base, resistant to compression, bending, strong stability, and will not deform.
With a rotary switch to turn the light on/off and adjust the brightness, you can switch freely between low brightness and high brightness to suit your needs.
This camping lamp can be powered by 2 rechargeable Lithium batteries (4800mAh battery included) or 3x AA dry batteries (not included). It can light last up to 9h-75h after fully charged, and can be easily recharged with the included USB type-C cord. Perfect for home power outages, and indoor or outdoor emergencies.
Made of high-quality ABS plastic, never rust, solid structure, good air tightness, all-round splash-proof, suitable for outdoor activities in rainy or snowy weather.
It looks absolutely stunning. This can very easily be used also as a decoration because it’s a very well made piece and until it will be used it will also look good in anyone’s living-room.
I am gladly recommending this to anyone. No one would regret buying it. Amazing quality for a fair price.
This is a nice gesture to a time gone by… not really that practical to carry and pack in your kit for long hikes and camps but it is very good for nostalgia and set the mood. The lamp gives off a beautiful glow and that is so much nicer than a bright white cold war-feeling light.
So all in all its a great lamp for beautiful light and a good price but it does not win any awards for space and lightweight in my bag.
Too good to only use for camping trips!
I absolutely love this vintage camping lamp which is too good to relegate to camping trips — I’m keeping mine in the house all year round!
The lamp is very retro and although its body is cream plastic and not painted aluminium, it has plenty of shiny chrome, a bamboo base and a lovely rope handle to make it look like a top-quality product.
There’s a dial on the front so you can dial the light up from a cosy glow to a full-on light-enough-to-light-a-room beam.
The light itself is LED and is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery (which takes just over seven hours to charge) or it three standard AA batteries (not included).
My camping days are over but that’s fine — this lamp looks lovely over the fireplace and will come into its own out on the patio in the summer.
Brillia
I adore this light. It’s bright and it just looks really nice. It is lightweight, so doesn’t exactly feel the most durable of items but I’d reckon it would take a knock or two. Considering this is for camping you don’t want to lug around anything heavy though so I think being so lightweight is more of a feature than anything else.
I think it looks fantastic on the shelf, the Jute is a little hairy but it usually is.
You basically have a dial to turn it on and increase brightness. All charged from USB-C.
At 36.99 it’s a little expensive but I’d say it’s worth it. It’s currently on offer at 25.89 and I think that’s a perfect price. In this range I can’t fault it. I actually think it looks great on the shelf and not something I’m just going to store away for when needed, but rather, a functional ornament.
Nice looking lamp with a bright, adjustable ligh
What first attracted me to this lamp was the stylish design and straight out of the box, I wasn’t disappointed.
It is perhaps a fraction smaller than I’d anticipated, but it looks great.
It’s not supposed to be an antique hurricane lamp, but a modern equivalent with a built in rechargeable batteries and an energy saving bulb.
It’s described as a camping light, and while I can see it would be perfect for camping, it’s so much more than that.
It’s so beautifully designed, it’s perfect for use in the house too. It has a pretty light wood base, it’s coated in cream paint and has a real hope hanging handle.
There’s a dial knob for switching the light on and which gives you fine control over the level of light you need.
At its highest setting, the light is bright enough to light up a small tent or room, but for me it works at it’s best when its set at a lower brightness to create a cosy atmosphere.
It’s going to be perfect in the summer for those long barbeque night out under the stars with friends.
Certainly looks the part. Very bright.
This is a wonderful looking lamp that does the job too, if a little pricey.
The case of the lamp is mainly plastic, with metal guards around the sides. The wood looks real enough at a distance, but it’s all plastic up close. At least the rope on the top is real and adds a nice touch. It’s pretty sturdy though and weatherproof too, so no complaints really.
There’s a covered USB-C charging port on the side (lead supplied) and it glows red until charged, changing to green when done. Takes a fair few hours, but it has quite a capacity. Underneath there is a compartment for 3xAA batteries, or you can use the 18650 ones supplied. These could be removed to charge externally (faster) and you could have a spare set to swap over if need be.
The lamp is controlled by a side rotary knob, which feels quality from the start. Click to turn on then goes from low to high – the brightest is enough to make you look away. Throws a good pool of light out and is certainly enough for a large tent or large table.
A little expensive, but you’re paying a bit more for the design really. It is a very capable lamp though.
Interesting mix of old and new
The lamp does look good from a distance but up close it’s a slightly less impressive picture. It’s and odd mix of old and new, cheap and premium. The handle is made from rope and looks great yet the Chrome caps and hooks it attaches to are poorly finished. The cream coloured pares are plastic but not high quality plastic and the riveted plate is both good and poor. It’s odd as it appears to be going for the premium look but on the cheap. It also casts some confusion when it comes to the IP rating as it’s advertised as IP6x and IP65. Now it can’t be IP6X as the battery compartment is not sealed and watertight nor it the dimmer switch so water will get in ( the X means fully waterproof 2m depth for 30min) so that should be corrected
That’s not to say it doesn’t work well and it is very bright with stepless dimming and the very useful ability to use the included 18650 batteries or standard AA batteries. This makes it a really great lantern with so many uses that will look great no matter the setting. Is it worth the current asking price of 36.99? I dont think so but not far from it in all honesty so for something a little different this is worth a look
Very stylish, bright, USB and battery!
I’m really happy with the vintage USB charging lantern! I love the adjustable brightness and the rope handle, and I’m able to hang it I my snug!
It’s lightweight and made really well….
This can be for camping, garden, bedside table…..anything! I love i
Retro style rechargeable lante
This rechargeable lantern seemed a very practical thing to have, with the potential threat of rolling power cuts looming over the Winter months. It’s a good, sizeable lamp. This came boxed, and in a drawstring fabric storage bag.
Looks-wise this is quite retro. The lantern is made from a mix of materials. The base is bamboo, the cream-coloured parts are plastic, the cage around the light is metal, and the top handle a natural rope. It feels pretty sturdy. I was a little bit disappointed by the highly shiny varnish treatment that has been applied to the bamboo, as this leaves the sides not looking as natural as expected (underneath, this varnish treatment hasn’t been applied, and you can see the grain to the wood better).
The light function is controlled by a silver plastic dial switch. Once turned on this moves seamlessly through brightness levels. The brightest of the settings is really very bright indeed – sufficient to illuminate a decent-sized room.
This is rechargeable via USB-C cable, and has a port with a tight-fitting silicone cover to prevent water ingress. The lantern is supplied with rechargeable batteries, which charge in situ, but if access to electricity/USB is restricted these batteries can be removed and three regular AA batteries used instead. The battery door has a simple, clip in cover.
I like this a lot, but do think the 36.99 RRP seems a bit high, considering the large amounts of the lamp body which are made from plastic. At time of writing, there is a 30% off voucher available which takes this down to just under 26 – and at this point I think it’s reasonably priced.
Retro styled, super bright camping lamp :)
While I don’t mind my practical items being just that and generally utilitarian in build, sometimes it’s nice to have a product that is useful but also aesthetically pleasing and this rechargeable LED camping lamp definitely embodies the latter qualities.
The lamp stands just over 10″ tall and is rated at IPX6 for water resistance. The main body of the lamp is made of cream finished metal, with a bamboo base and rope handle.
The 360* LED light has a dimming switch which has a really smooth transition between light intensities and this lamp gets REALLY bright – I made the mistake of looking at it and now my retinas hate me.
The lamp can be powered/charged via the provided USB-C cable, 2 x 18650 Lithium rechargeable batteries or 3 x AAA batteries. My lamp arrived with charge and I’ve had it sitting outside since 10am this morning (it’s now 4pm as I’m writing this) on the highest light setting and it’s still got charge, but that’s the only downside for me – you don’t know how much charge is left in the unit once in operation.
This is going to make the perfect lamp for out in my rabbit enclosure while I feed and put them to bed at night but it equally wouldn’t look out of place sitting somewhere in the house as a novel light.
Feel good item
I really like this. The antique vibe is very cleverly implemented, the muted plastic gives the impression of painted lamps of old. The bamboo base and rope handle are also very nice. The light switch is progressive, mimicking an old fashioned light where you would turn up the wick, and gives excellent usable light. Although this is designed to be used it is good to have around and creates a comforting atmosphere of times past.
Retro goodness
I love the design of this lamp. It looks great, and the rope handle is a nice touch. The light gives off a nice glow, and can be turned up or down depending on your preference. The rope handle is strong and will take the weight of the lamp when hung up on a hook. It’s a great product.
Beautiful lamp with a fascinating battery system
This vintage camping lantern is quite beautiful. It has a really nice retro look with a good thick rope handle on top. It gets bright enough to illuminate a tent or gazebo in the dark no problem and the lighting dial is very smooth allowing for very specific brightness.
I find the battery system fascinating. While it is rechargeable it doesn’t use an internal battery. Instead it comes with 2 18650 batteries installed that can be easily removed or replaced. These batteries are installed horizontally but you can also remove them and instead install 3 AAA batteries vertically. I’ve never seen this system before, it’s pretty cool. 18650 batteries are often used in power banks and vapes which means in theory you could even use this lamp as a vape battery charger. It charges via USB-C which is always a relief, one less old cable to keep around.
Overall it’s a really pretty lamp that works well. It comes with a USB-C cable and a drawstring bag inside the box.
Beautiful
I absolutely love this! It came well packed and looks nice. I love the camping style and the light is adjustable and very bright. It is easy to charge and waterproof, perfect!
