These fit a canoe perfectly and are well made and well put together. Made the canoe extremely stable so my very small kids could run amd jump around no worries. We even went through class 1 and 2 rapids (small stuff) on the delaware with them on and they made it super enjoyable because we didn’t have to keep worrying about stability and telling the kids to stay low. I strapped them to the yoke of the canoe using ikea style tension straps. Had to wet the straps first so they wouldn’t lose tension halfway through but it was no issue. Even if the straps loosen a bit the canoe is still stable with this design. I am 200 lbs and was able to easily get back in the canoe from a swim with these things on. Plus it was easy getting the kids in and out of the water with them, so they got a few nice swim breaks throughout our trip.

They sit an inch or two deep in the water when installed, causing a good amount of drag since they are so short. This is great when with kids or large dogs as it makes the canoe extremely stable. But I might consider making a spacer out of a small peice of 2×4 next time to lift them up a few inches higher, so they just barely skim the surface when the boat is flat, and only dig in and cause drag when heeled over a bit. Or maybe ill just mount them sideways or upside down to get the same effect.

I think these would allow a canoe to safely go into coastal bays and larger lakes even when the water is cold, and are excellent for fishing because you can stand up in the boat to cast or catch a fish no problem. I wouldn’t take them out in particularly rough water but they did fine in 1 – 2 foot waves/rapids. They are too short, fat and draggy for a sailing or motor rig though in my opinion.

A minor issue we had was one of the pins that keeps the floats fell off my first time using it, but there is enough friction alone to hold the floats on at least for a while (it was fine for a 6 mile river trip without it). Ill probably replace it with a through bolt and nylon lock nut in the future.

Because of the type of kayaks I have, I had to be a bit creative. On one of them, I had to install toward the front. I was afraid it would interfere with padding but turns out it didn’t. After my first test on the water, I noticed stress on the kayak were I installed them and looked like they may pull out of their holes. To address this I used a rubber washer on the underside of the rail and a steel washer and bolt on the backside of the screw.
I think I’m going to enjoy these as i explore the lakes in my area.

Works great with a little creativity

THE EXTRA BUNGEE’S ARE Bungee Boat Dock Line, Boat Rope Mooring Rope. Which is a really nice gift as separate they are around $30.. The instructions are hard to follow, but really happy with everything else. As mentioned by others, did not know at first what the bungee cords were for but finally figured it out. I would recommend.

We installed these on our Wenonah Kevlar Canoe for stability when fishing. They work fantastic and are not heavy. That was important as we pack our canoe into many remote lakes.

Not all kayaks are the same. I had to install a little different from instructions. I am a large man and this product worked well and made my kayak very stable.

Went together pretty easy. Had to do without the instructions they were very hard to read. I used the screw holes for my rod holders instead of drilling new holes for the bars. I will be testing the durability soon. Mine came with 2 elastic straps that are not in the instructions or product list. So I am not sure what they are for.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe included directions are horrible. Figure it out by common sense. Two items included in the package are never explained or seemingly needed to include two elastic straps with carabiners. The valves on the floats are excellent!

I had to do a little modification to make it work for me and I did my own mounting system. But took my canoe all day and it ran like a dream super stable I would work about putting holes in them if rubbed on rocks. But for the price 100% satisfied. Will probably order more for backups.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis item installed easy on my pelican Sabre.
Use well nuts to install the mounting bar. They can be found at the H.Depot in the specialty nut and bolt section. When you install the rubber floats don’t inflate them all the way and use dish soap on the attachment fittings to help get them on the bars. Then you can blow them up to capacity.

Good setup to help from falling i

Nice product, excited to use, came without mounting nuts for the screws. Had to buy them, but that was minor.

Little hard to assemble but they went together and work well. I had to drill out new holes on the rail to fix it where I wanted, and that took some time, but it all came together and works well.
