No spoilers – If you want to cry for a video game, we’ll then this is definitely for you. The music is amazing, the characters and the story keeps you on your toes because you just want to know what happens within the chapter, and certain events happen that keep you playing until the end.
Took me 2 weeks to recover from the ending.
Even though the camera movement was a bit slow on the ps5, even when changing settings, it still didn’t stop me from enjoying it.
This is a very strong follow up to ‘A Plague Tale: Innocence’. Make sure you play that before you play this, though, as it is essential to know the story of the original game to get the full impact of the story in this.
The design of the world is a big step up from the original. In many places, the levels are more open allowing for various paths to the end goal. One area that stands out is a Wicker Man-sque open world island that is fully available to explore. The way locations change as the game (and the plague) progresses is impressive. The graphics are occasionally breathtaking and some of the set pieces, involving destruction cashed by many thousands of individually rendered rats, are the most impressive I have seen in any video game.
The real strong point is this game is the storytelling. The main characters are wonderfully written and voice acted and the game doesn’t leave you with many unanswered questions by the point of its finale.
The gameplay allows for more variety than the original game. If I had one criticism it is that the gameplay can occasionally be a bid fiddly. For example, if you are stood at the edge of an lighten area, the rats can grab your legs and kill you unfairly. Also, I found the opening few chapters some of the most difficult in the game. As you unlock more abilities, things get a lot easier.
A final shout-out to the soundtrack, which is the best I have heard in a game all year.
Overall, this is a superb story-driven game, and well worth your time and money.
Better than first game really enjoyed it great graphics and story
A real showcase for the PS5. Superb graphics, atmospheric soundtrack and a compelling story.
If you enjoyed the first Plague Tale then you’ll find this to be better in every way.
Combat and stealth are much improved, the graphics are excellent, with very convincing facial movement and the music (something I often turn off or turn right down in games) is an essential feature that really adds to the game experience.
The icing on the cake is the outstanding acting by the cast, which makes for a gripping and at times emotional journey by fully believable characters.
If this doesn’t win an award or two at the Game Awards this year then I’ll eat my PS5….!
This isn’t a perfect game.
There are times when you feel that you’re playing a video game and you have to xyz. For example, here’s another stealth section. Here’s another hoard of rats to find your way past. The core gameplay mechanics are fine, but they do show their age.
But when the game flows, it’s really worth it. The voice acting, lush landscapes, and emotional impact are all best-in-class.
I’d urge you play this game. You’ll remember it unlike so many others.
If you have not played this game then play 1 before 2 as it follows such a good story. If you have played 1 then 100% get this game as its bigger and better then 1st. If you love The Last Of Us your love this game. A must buy for anyone.
eally good game, as good as the first one. It’s really pretty and sometimes scary. You get the choice to kill all enemies or just avoid them.
Story, emotions, graphic, sound…. Everything in this game work together just right. One of the best ps5 title for sure
A beautiful game with improved gameplay and amazing graphics! An emotional journey with a sad ending 🙁
Amazing game. Playing it on 4k 120 with vrr on is smooth. And with the dual sense features. It really adds that extra immersion. The devs really made a masterpiece. Definitely recommend. But play the first game
I have not yet played this however based of the previous “A Plague Tale” I am expecting this to be a phenomenal game.
