5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING! My friend recommended this ages ago, I was debating which one to buy maybe a different brand or a more expensive newer one, but this is working amazing after 4 weeks i already have patches with no hair!
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product, saves tons of time and money Amazing product, was recommended by friend, received delivery on time, easy to use with well written instructions, hassle of shaving, having stubble is no longer a pain, I already have smooth skin with no hair, consistency is key point best product overall
5.0 out of 5 stars Excelle I have been using this over 6 months- I waited to write the review. If you are serious for hair free legs, or anywhere else i suggest invest in this. I shave weekly. I then use the laser machine. My legs are hair free now. I also use it on my face and it’s clear. I totally recommend it. Easy to use. No pain. Stick to a routine and you won’t be disappointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very good and with results! I know there are other IPL’s better than this one cuz technology evolves but I used it only for about 4-6 months for the same area and now, after almost 1 year since then I HAVE NO HAIR ON THAT AREA growing anymore.
I don’t even use the machine anymore because of that and neither the shavers thset much.
The instructions are correct in the package so read them as they are useful.
If you have black hair of course, is better.
At the beginning will come out black and after some time it will starts loosing its colour and lighten in some areas of the body. You continue the routine till no more hair grows.
Just be careful if you really want no hair at all in the area you choose to do it.
Hair is still important for regulating body temperature.
If you close that pore, you closed it forever.
I would recommend only to be used if you have excess hair grow in some areas that might not look esthetical, if you have ingrowing hair or get infection because of that, but also if you want smooth legs or arms, armpits etc.
On the face is a bit tricky and can take longer time because the hair is lighter in colour.
I would also recommend buying some special glasses because the light is not healthy for the eyes as I had many times headaches or diziness from the light. I try looking somewhere else or close the eyes but is not very effective as you need to see on what area you put the machine on.
Another thing, if the company can change the shape / design a bit as it is uncomfortable to access some buttons and remain with your finger on it to have continous puls. Maybe do a command that you can set it to remain on ro something.
Overall tho, I’m really satisfied with it. Thank you!
5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny I can’t believe this little device works so well. I am a fair-skinned brunette, so I suppose I have the right coloring for this to work the best, but I am super impressed. I waited over a year to write the review, so I could give it a full appraisal. I hesitated at spending over 200 on something I wasn’t sure of, but I wished I hadn’t. I had suffered with hirsutism due to PCOS, but this solved the problem. I still have to use once a fortnight or so, and it is not pain free (it’s like a static shock), but the increased quality of life and confidence it worth that little temporary discomfort. 100% recommended.
4.0 out of 5 stars It does work if you persevere. For context, I’m fairly pale with very dark hair. I’ve had this product for around two months now and it does work, albeit with varying results. The difference on my legs was almost instant; from the first use the hair began growing back much slower and more finely. I’m confident that if I continue to use it, I’ll be at the stage where I very rarely need it on my legs.
I’ve waxed my bikini area for years so the hair there was already pretty patchy and fine but I must say that it took a lot longer to see a difference after using IPL there. I’m finally starting to see results there, which is fair enough.
All in all, I’m very happy with it and my life will be a lot easier as we approach the summer. The machine itself is very easy to use and comfortable to hold even for longer periods. I also find it totally painless, but I do have a pretty high pain tolerance.
4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good So far I see improvement in losing my hair but I think it’s too early to judge as it’s only been 1 month since I started using it. Able to set the level for only 2 stages though, I thought it comes with 3 levels but still a good purchase
It WORKS! DISCLAIMER: I have pretty pale skin and quite dark hair, so for me IPL works very well!
But if your skin is light and your hair is dark, this works so well! I have used it about 20 times and I am basically hair free wherever I used it! It does take lots of sessions, and a good bit of time to do, but now I only have to shave and use it once a month!
Works a trea Great product, seen noticeable reduction in hair on legs and armpits in only a few uses. I’m a little scared of the heat so only tend to zap a few times but has made a considerable difference to hair growth, with some really smooth patches already! And so quick to do it almost seems too easy! Was very dubious but would definitely recommend seeing such quick results!
Excellent produc Good value for money. You start seeing a difference after a few weeks of use, if you are constant and follow the instructions such as shaving just before using it, its very important.
Definitely worth it, I would highly recommend it !!!
5.0 out of 5 stars Best item I’ve bought in a long time I’ve now had the Braun IPL about a year. I’ve always had issues with facial hair and always been self conscious about it, hiding my face with my hair etc, I’ve always either plucked, epilated, bleached etc etc and was left with thick black hair, so embarrassing, I’ve not been able to afford laser treatment at a salon. So when I saw this and at the time it was 120 I thought I’d give it a go. Firstly it’s so simple to use, you choose your strength then apply it to the area you want to use it on, now you can either move the device over the skin and press the button each time or press and hold and the device will continuously flash as you move the device over the area, it’s very simple to use and the best bit is that it actually works. When I first had it I used it twice a week then reduced it down to once a week now I’m barely needing to use it at all but still do every couple of months. When you first use it you have to shave the hair which I struggled with but you don’t need to worry, this thing works and I would recommend it to anyone with hair issues, you can of course use it all over your body.
I shave once in 2-3 months now I was very skeptical about the product since nothing ever helped me.
I’ve got very sensitive skin. I had bad irritation every time I was shaving. I thought I had to live with that and accept it. The dark thick hair looked horrible on my pale skin so I stopped wearing dresses.
It took a few months for me to see any results but now I can shave once in 3 months and I’m totally fine!
I still cannot believe it but it does work!!
It works! I bought this feeling very sceptical about it. I used it the first week and saw no difference but by week 3 I could already see the results. Now I only get the tiny random patch of hair here and there, my legs and my armpits are so smooth all the time! I hate shaving so this is an absolute gem.
It’s easy to use, quick and works.
Areas used: legs, armpits and bikini line
skin colour: light olive
hair colour: dark brown/black
I would absolutely recommend this.
Read the instructions thoroughly before using it as I suspect some people don’t, end up not using it how it’s mean to and therefore feel like it doesn’t work.
Buy it. If you struggle with hair removal or have to wax/shave every week, buy this device. I have been using it for 5 weeks now and my hair growth dropped to 50% of what it was. I tried it on shaved areas and worked and I tried it on areas where I used silk epil and worked too. Fantastic and worth the price.
So happy I bought this! I’ve been using this on my legs now for a couple of months and it has definitely worked. I am mixed race and have a darker skin tone so I was a bit worried. But that did not seem to be an issue.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great produc I have waited to write this review and 6 weeks in I have no under arm hair at all a week after treatment so will be goi no to fortnightly treatments. I have a tiny amount still on my legs but wore my shorts very confidently one week after my last treatment so works brilliantly. No pain in either area anymore. I have also been doing my bikini area and am very impressed. I still have regrow that after a week but it is much less and super soft so doesn’t scratch or itch like shaving sometimes does in sensitive areas! When performing the treatment, I can feel small electric shock like pain but it is WAY less then when I used to epilate my legs and I will happily take it for a smooth bikini line!
Overall I am very impressed and would recommend. I have dark hair and fairly pale olive skin.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing results! Can’t believe i Definitely exceeded my expectations. The hair started growing back more slowly after the second use and in the first 3 weeks between uses, the hair would hardly come back in time before I shaved again.
I’ve now done 5 sessions and my hair is practically all gone. I have a few random spots that I’ve probably missed around my knee and ankle but other than that, my skin is ridiculously soft and there is no hair! I can’t believe it. I really didn’t expect it to be this good. The hair has gone from my arms, legs, and intimate areas. I will do my upper lip once my tan fades in the next winter.
The only place that it hasn’t worked much on is my underarms. Hair still grows back after a few days but the skin does seem to be lighter and the hair is definitely thinner.
So glad I went for this and cancelled my super expensive laser treatment. I would 100% recommend it.
Surpassed all expectations!! I left it a while to write a review, I bought it in December, and this IPL is truly amazing!! I purchased it mainly for facial hair, chin(s) and upper lip. Yes, at first it’s a bit odd to shave like a man would.. but after a couple of weeks, hairs were not growing back.. and now I haven’t needed to use it for weeks, and there is no stubble, regrowth or unpleasantness at all. I’ve now started on my legs, ready for summer/lockdown ending
5.0 out of 5 stars It really does work. So I’ve always struggled with hair removal. I have medium brown hair and fair skin, but my hairs are thicker than normal and also my hair follicles are abundant! Shaving my legs and bikini line is a one way ticket to extreme itching after 24 hours. So bad that I would stay awake at night clawing at my legs where they’re so itchy. Then I would get bumps, and shaving again caused even more irritation.
Only remedy was epilation…however because I have the super power of extreme amounts of hair follicles, I was having to go over my legs every week as they would get full on hairy again!
So, I tried this. And omg. After 3 sessions (a week apart) my leg has had reduced dramatically!! Armpit hair too. I have no irritation from shaving in between treatments now. My legs actually don’t feel like toilet brushes after 24 hours anymore.
I cannot wait to see what they’re like after the full 12 weeks.
100% recommend this product.
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing worth the money, even full price! If I could give 10 stars I would ⭐️ I last used a Braun IPL device over 5 years ago and my gosh have they come a long way! My old device you had to press the button wait for it to load and flash then move over slightly and do it again which meant it took ages to do your legs and made it a chore. HOWEVER this new devise is fantastic!! It has a glide mode which means you just hold down the button and slowly move over your skin. There’s no loading and it flashes quickly. I managed to do both my lower legs and half of my upper thighs in less than 10 minutes….for both legs which is fantastic!! I’ve only had one session but I’m sure it will reduce growth for me quickly as it did with my old device. Very impressed and cannot wait to do my next session again in a week.
5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend. I treated myself to this whilst it was on offer and I’m so pleased I did. After only 4 sessions I can see a marked reduction in hair / hair regrowth. My Husband is also using it and is experiencing similarly positive results. I would reinforce what others have said, this isn’t an overnight miracle and I will continue weekly use until I consider myself to be as “hair free” as possible.
Importantly, I find this painless. Some more sensitive areas will feel heat more than others, but even on the strongest setting I would never describe the IPL as sore. I have now started to experience slight irritation on my legs afterwards which is more uncomfortable than the IPL itself! But this is totally normal and will pass after a couple of days – I like to think this means it’s working!
I am also glad I went for this device over others – it’s lightweight and easy to hold so it makes longer “sessions” easy and doesn’t become heavy or uncomfortable. That said, I can cover many body parts in no time at all, so it’s never a time consuming task.
Overall, I’d highly recommend.
Fantastic! I have light to medium Indian skin and the laser works amazingly well. Bought it in the summer when I was quite sun tanned and still worked on slightly darker skin. I was initially unsure whether to buy it as first because of the price but would 100% recommend it. I’ve paid out hundreds of pounds over the years getting professional laser and this has proved far more effective. I’ve used it on my face and body and my hair has drastically reduced to almost nothing.
4.0 out of 5 stars Updated review! I decided to try this IPL after seeing some positive reviews and finding it with good discount. I used to do laser but since covid have not been able to have any. I don’t have very thick hair on my legs but starting to have more on my armpit and bikini area. I have light skin and dark brown/black hair. I used the device twice so far, once a week as directed. Not able to see changes yet. For the second time I bought some protective goggles for the light because although it says it’s safe, it seems quite strong still. The device will not fire if not with full skin contact. It adjusts itself for intensity apparently. For me it’s not painful, only a bit on the inner groin area. Laser or waxing hurts more. It takes maybe 20mins for me to do full leg, armpit and bikini area. Could take less for others more flexible or of someone else does it for you. I also bough a white eyeliner pencil to cover small moles as I learned from my laser sessions we shouldn’t use it on them. IPL is absorved by melanin so the darker the skin the less efective. The darker the hair on lighter skin the more effective. I will try to update my review after a few more weeks to let you know how it worked.
Update review:
I’ve used this IPL aprox weekly 4x and actually I haven’t used it now for 3 or 4 weeks because the hair did not grow! In the more hairy areas have only a few and where hair was thinner can’t barely see it. I have only noticed one downside that I didn’t have with laser.. Some ingrown hairs that are leaving me with foliculitis and required me to remove them using a pointy tweezer as after weeks they wouldn’t come out. All in all, I’m happy that it’s working and that I don’t have to worry so often with hair removal. Worth the money!
3 Treatments in and already impressed! I was bought this as a gift and I can honestly say I’m shocked (in a good way!). It says “results can be visible from 3 Treatments” but my lord are they!! I’ve done three treatments on my armpits and the difference already is incredible. Not only has it slowed the growth already, the hairs aren’t as thick and unsightly as they were (I haven’t been shaving between treatments on purpose as I wanted to see the results! )
good item worth the money This was really good to use. It takes about 6 weeks or so before you notice any real difference but it is easy to use and whilst expensive is worth the money.
It has been a while since I used this properly as the year 2020 kinda went a different way for me. Now I again have the time and patience to get going with this, I have started using again and will keep using to get the results that can be had with this.
This really works, definitely recommend! I was slightly cynical about this product when I first bought it but I was fed up of shaving constantly and was looking for a more long term solution. I bought this IPL and decided to try it out on my lower legs to test how it works and get used to the machine. After 2 months of shaving and using this once a week, my hair regrowth has slowed right down, and on a lot of my legs no hair grows at all now! The hairs that do grow back in some areas are significantly lighter and softer. I am definitely happy I invested in this product and hope the regrowth slows down more and more with future uses. Definitely recommend this product.
grea Really good product. Got it for the girlfriend as the old one she had had for 6 years. Works really well and zaps hair well. Very quick and easy to use.
Better than I expected I got the Pro3 as after a lot of research I reasoned that the only difference (important to me) was it might take a bit longer to do each treatment and for solid results to show, in comparison to the Pro5. The difference in price made it worthwhile for me, and having plenty of free time in lockdown. I have now been using it weekly for 8 weeks and am almost entirely hair free where I want to be. I am still needing to do more treatments for under arms and bikini line – but my legs are silky smooth. I am pale with dark hair so am the optimum user but even then I am very impressed. Was completely painless (unless I go over a dark freckle…don’t do that) and so simple to use.
It is definitely working! I was about to spend some serious getting professional laser hair removal. Then lockdown happened, thought this seemed a good enough price to try and see what happens. I used every week for the first six weeks, growth significantly slowed on my legs until there’s almost nothing. Although if I leave epilation or shaving more than two weeks I am getting regrowth so will resume weekly treatments. Under arms and bikini line slowed also but regrowth more evident. Have not noticed as much effect on my more intimate zones but the skin is a little darker so will persevere.
Makes a difference on first use. Great Product. It was a bit difficult to use at first but then I watched a youtube tutorial and that helped a lot. I’ve only used it once but I’m already seeing a difference and it did not take long to use , less than ten minutes for both arms.
Worth the money! Have just used this for the first time, and loved it. I have an older model that I never really got along with as it took an hour to do my legs, this new one is superspeedy, I have done both legs in around 10 minutes!
Commitment will be rewarded! This product is definitely not for you if you just want a quick fix alternative to shaving or waxing – you really have to be in it for the long haul! It’s pretty complicated to use (at least at first) with much checking and rechecking of the instructions. However, once you get going it is pretty much pain-free and (if you give it enough time) you can definitely see results. Ours has been used on relatively light-coloured hair and has definitely reduced hair growth (and pretty much eliminated it in some areas!) and reading others’ reviews it seems that it’s equally effective on darker hairs as well. It’s an expensive investment but it’s a good choice if you’re after an effective IPL.
It works and wife's happy! Bought this as a Christmas present for my wife. Been 5 months and she still says how amazing this is. Her sister bought this too and replaced it with going to expensive beauty saloons.
Happy af Very quick delivery! I ordered it on a Sunday and received it on the coming Tuesday (yesterday). Though I didn’t like that the box revealed what was inside as well it’s a product of high value. Despite that everything is grea
So far so good I have received the product before I expected, really good delivery. So far is the second time I used it and I can see that the hair does not growth soo fast as it did it before, but as said is the second time so I will give it more time to see better results.
It is a really light device and really easy to use. Personally, I just feel a bit of pain but nothing bad.
Good product!
Great results I’ve struggled to keep my legs smooth in the past, I tried everything. I couldn’t shave ofted because my skin used to get irritated as hair there gets thicker with time. I have been using it once a week since January 2020 and the last treatment I had was a week ago and the amount of hairs growing now are minimal even though my hairs grow super fast.
I am very happy with the results and will recommend it if you have the right type of hair and skin colour.
Works for me! I wanted to wait a bit before I wrote this review to actually see if it would work… I was initially skeptical about it and it’s expensive but as Amazon had it on special offer I thought I’d spend the money and give it a go.
For me it absolutely WORKS! I have very light skin and very dark hair. My whole adult life I have literally had to shave my legs every day, not to mention trying to keep control of the random body hair that likes to appear wherever it wants to! Nightmare. But this has all but sorted it. I followed the instructions and used it weekly and I have seen a real difference, I’m VERY impressed.
I’m guessing it really depends on your hair and skin tone as to how effective it is so it’s not for everyone but I really do recommend it.
Oh. My. Days. I’m shocked !!!!!!!! At 1st I was extremely dubious that this would even work or that it would take absolute ages. Well. Let me tell you.
I have spent quite a lot on hair removal over the years and have tried EVERYTHING!!!
I have black thick hair !!!!
I had been toying with the idea of laser removal for over a year. Couldn’t bring myself to pay the steep price in a clinic but found this devise on a Black Friday deal and thought what have I got to lose.
After 4/5 uses I could NOT believe my eyes !!!! My hairs have reduced MASSIVELY !!!! My underarm is pretty much gone altogether. My legs only have small patches here and there and my arms well it’s only the very fine blond hairs left. And I’m only 4/5 treatments in.
I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS MORE !!!!!!
This deserves 100 stars. Not just 5. Worth every penny !!!!
Easy to use, painless, saving me money! At the time of this review, I have just completed my 5th treatment of removing hair from my legs. Prior to receiving this machine, I would constantly wax my full leg once every 3-4 weeks which tended to be painful for me personally (I am also very hairy, dark hair & fair skin).
However, the “pain” (if you could even call it that) is very minimal (especially for a person who has a very low pain threshold). Like other reviews before my own, it is very much a mild warming sensation, like applying warm wax to the skin but no wincing as the hair is torn from the follicle. It’s almost to the point where it is unnoticeable, surprisingly enough as soon as the laser touches your skin and to “zap” the area the pain almost immediately disappears.
There are also two modes of treatment which you are able to experiment with but neither hurt (feather mode and normal mode). I found that using normal mode on places such as face, which often is delicate caused a bit of a discomfort sensation – I wouldn’t say pain per se, just not something I would personally recommend when using this machine. I would recommend feather for areas such as face, underarms and bikini line. Basically anywhere where you would be a lot more sensitive usually. The machine does NOT recommend you using this for removing intimate hair on areas asides from bikini area, so I won’t speak about that as I personally do not need it for that area.
Anyway, here are my results thus far:
I have very much noticed the slowing of hair growth from using this machine and the time to remove hair has gone from 45 minutes (for a waxing appointment) down to 15 minutes for both legs. I still need to shave once per week, as you will likely need to do in between sessions which is fine by me as the extra effort is worth it to me. As per the instructions, I use sunscreen whenever I go outside/experience any UV rays to prevent the obvious skin cancers and living in Australia is something I need to be conscious of. Some areas of my legs have seemingly stopped growing hair, I am going to continue on with my weekly treatments and am planning on stopping at 10 sessions but I believe sessions are supposed to stop at maybe at 6-8 sessions. With my hair being thick, dark and stubborn I like to make sure that the hair stays gone so I figure 10 is a good number to slow down with treatments. But in saying that it’s up to the users discretion. It’s stated to not use the machine in the same area more than once a session/week so I have been heeding that warning just in case. Patience is the key when it comes to permanent hair removal which is why I waited a while before writing this review.
So, is this machine worth your money? I’d say compared with other methods such as waxing, 2-3 times (or even daily for some of us) shaving a week, hair removal creams and the like: I’d say yes. It is most certainly worth the money I have invested and I wish I had the money to do so sooner, even! Being hairless for longer is absolutely a confidence booster and I hope you will see amazing results also. Enjoy having smooth and hairless parts of your body! Thanks Braun!
It works! I delayed writing this review for ages, entirely because I was so apprehensive to try the IPL system in the first place that I just kept putting it off. I wish I hadn’t though because it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be (I mean, you’re blasting yourself with an actual laser, what newbie wouldn’t be scared??)
You do need patience while using the IPL system and again while you’re waiting to see the results; it’s not instant like with shaving or epilating but it’s less painful than waxing or using epilators and the results are truly worth it. I’ve so far only used it on my legs and found the process to be generally painless with the occasional stinging sensation. The hair grew back a bit patchy initially and I think it takes practice and concentration because I could tell from the way the hair was growing back that there were sections of my legs I’d completely missed during the lasering process.
There’s not much in the box so you don’t have to worry about assembling lots of fiddly bits. To do laser treatments, you need to shave the area first (you get a Venus razor included in the box) The area you treat is about 3cm x 0.8cm, which is tiny obviously if you’re doing your legs but once you get the hang of it (and let go of the fear that you’re actually going to burn yourself), it’s actually easy to cover large areas reasonably quickly if you have an organised approach. The IPL device itself is a bit like a very chunky epilator or razor and isn’t too heavy so it’s comfortable to hold and manoeuvre.
I do think it’s a big cost upfront to get one of these but I also think it’s worth the investment as it’s a trusted brand and something that works and will save you time, money and effort in the long run. Before getting this, I’d actually just started using an epilator and was impressed with that compared to a razor but having laser treatments is infinitely better. The IPL system isn’t suitable for everyone (e.g. if you have red or white hair or dark skin) so make sure you do your research so you know it’s going to be safe for you and that the lasering is going to work for you. Also, this particular model des not come with the facial attachment but it’s available separately if you want it.
Hopeful to stop epilating for this... I’ve never used anything like this but I’ve always been intrigued – I epilate usually rather than shave but the idea of this light treatment minimalising the hair that grows back was very appealing.
The item itself comes with a travel case and a Venus razor which I thought was a nice touch – perfect for travel as you have everything you need. The idea is to shave first and then use the IPL as it targets the root rather than removing hair I believe.
The gadget is light and comfortable to hold and angled so it’s easy to reach most areas
I gave the instructions a good read before I started and discovered very importantly that this is not suitable for you to use if you have a tan which surprised me but it makes sense as if your skin is already ‘damaged’ so to speak – then using intense light treatment could lead to burns, etc.
You should use with caution if you’ve ever had Herpes apparently as the light can react with it (I’m guessing more for when used in the bikini area or on your face) It also shouldn’t be used if you have very light blonde hair or red hair, not to be used over moles, birth marks, tattoos etc – it’s best to check if this is really suitable for you.
You set the level of power, it says it has a skin colour sensor but it hasn’t changed or anything to a different number while I’ve been using it so I’m not really sure how that sensor works… the pulses feel hot but not uncomfortably – I don’t feel at risk from burning from my first use – it says to avoid going over the same area twice or that could cause soreness, burning etc.
The light used is very bright and pulses – so it will give off a flash and then it has to recharge and then it’ll give another flash – I actually have to wear sunglasses now when I use it as its so bright and I saw spots for hours after use (my eyes are quite sensitive to light anyway) – I’m guessing people with epilepsy or similar should really use with caution. It has a safety feature though where the lift will only go off when it’s in contact with a surface and you can’t just flash it in your face by mistake which is good.
I’ve been using on my legs and underarms and so far I can’t say I really noticed any hair removal or patches with no growth but as its a ‘treatment’ I’m expecting it to improve with further uses. I’ll update accordingly.
Not an instant solution, but works well long-term. This has been used over a number of months to try and provide a permanent hair loss solution for stubborn hairs that have re-grown following the use of another laser product.
It comes with comprehensive instructions, which need to be very carefully studied, if you are new to using a product of this time. It’s really important not to use these on irritated or reddened skin. If you are sunburned, or suffer from eczema, or any other skin condition that leaves your skin looking flushed and reddened, this won’t be for you.
I once used a similar product after a shower, when my skin was quite flushed, and burnt myself. At least, that was my conclusion, when it became clear that this was what had happened, some hours later.
That aside, this has a huge bonus of being easy to hold, and easy to hold against the skin when you target the area for treatment. There is a sensation as you apply it, but it’s not painful as such. It’s just an awareness that something is happening.
Do note, that this doesn’t get rid of every hair, first time, or even second time. What it does do is significantly weaken the regrowth of those hairs that do appear.
Consequently, subsequent treatment are quicker and easier, the hairs that do appear are much less noticeable.
Significantly cheaper than salon treatments in the long run, with no expensive refills to buy.
Great Tool In terms of actual hair removal and the effects of using this machine on the removal of hair: This is a great tool for hair removal. It does take time and effort using this, you have to dedicate time to the hair removal and do this every six weeks to get real results otherwise results are not as effective so it is a time commitment but the results are worth it because you notice how the hair has thinned and reduced over time.
It feels luxurious and great to use, its also great that you can use this from the comfort of your own home without having to travel to a salon. The machine is fairly heavy so feels good quality and it is great how it comes in a lovely luxe bag – which you can take on travels.
You need to use every 4-6 weeks to see results. It is a relatively fast process though!
At times it can be a little painful but you just have to adjust the setting. I cannot vouch for permanent hair removal but hair is reduced, thinner and grows back less often.
The bes One of the best and most effective epilators I’ve ever used. Very nice design and also causes no pain or discomfort. The results are really noticeable after just a few weeks. Highly recommended.
Costly but very effective in the long term - hair vanishes for ages. Braun IPL Silk*expert Pro 3 PL3132 Latest Generation IPL, Permanent Visible Hair Removal, White and Lilac with Beauty Pouch, Venus Razor and Precision Head
Handed over to my daughter for review.
In the box.
The Epilator, blade head, batteries already fitted and instructions. This is all in a nice presentation box. Please follow the instruction and do a test area before doing a large visible area. There is a guide about this in the box.
Ease of use.
The unit is very easy to use and control. It is mains operated and comes with a three pin adapter.
Effectiveness.
The head is very effective and removes with ease even the tiniest hairs from those hard to reach areas. It leaves the face feeling tingly and very clean.
Using on the legs after several applications the hair takes a long time to grow back. It is much easier and safer than a blade or waxing. The effects last much longer too.
After a couple of months of regular use I find the device is very effective as it really prevents hair regrowth.
Overall.
A useful device for the face, legs and neck areas. Works really well and does prevent hair regrowth. It may be expensive but it really does work. It is also very compact and reliable.
Added benefits of Hair Removal The Silk-Expert Pro is very easy to set-up and use. Just plug in, switch on and GO.
The head glides easily over the skin and I have found it is easier to keep your finger on the trigger (so to speak) as this then adjusts the pulse as the head moves over the skin.
A completely painless procedure, although the flash of the pulse can be a little disconcerting on initial use. The skin does heat up slightly and can feel sensitive after use.
I am, however, a little confused as to when to complete the other method of hair removal – some articles say to shave prior to using the Silk-Expert PRo while others don’t mention a specific time.
What has become apparent is that the treatment has to be done regularly almost to the point of vigilance in order to achieve the desired effect.
An added benefit of the Silk-Expert Pro is it softens and smoothes the skin while working on the hair removal. I have noticed when the hair grows back it is much finer than prior treatment and some patches are already noticeable bare.
It must be reiterated that this is not a quick fix for hair removal, it requires persistence and dedication in regular use.
Great mid-range device This is a mid range IPL hair remover device. Like other devices it only flashes when in contact with skin, so it’s safe and lowers the risk of accidentally zapping your eyes. Lots of safety instructions to make sure you read first. Not suitable for everyone as with all IPL devices. I have fair skin and blonde/light brown hair. You don’t need to adjust the intensity of the laser to your skin tone and hair colour like some other devices. This Pro 3 has a sensor that automatically adapts the laser intensity to your hair colour and skin tone, which can vary across your body so brilliant that you don’t ever have to adjust settings. I did find this device more painful than others, maybe I had the laser intensity set too low on the previous device. I liked the way you can hold the button down and it flashes continuously when kept on the skin to do larger areas i.e the legs. Legs take less than 10 minutes. There are different sized lenses too, so you can zap your face and bikini areas with ease. It fits nicely in the hand and comes with a standard plug and two pin adapter. You also get a razor and a bag, which is cheap looking. This device does work, it just takes time and now summer is here and if you want to wear fake tan or your skin has caught the sun you shouldn’t use an IPL device. They’re best used through the winter months as the change of skin tone can effect the laser intensity.
Definitely worth buying if it’s still at the offer price of a little over 200. I wouldn’t recommend for the RRP of 424.99
Well worth the commitment in money and time. My 28-year-old daughter has been using this IPL hair remover for about eight weeks and she is now delighted with the results it now produced.
After eight weeks of using the device once a week on Sundays, she says has gone from having underarm hair regrowth that she could notice within 24 hours of shaving, to now being able to go for over a week without any regrowth at all.
She really is very happy with this result and will definitely keep up the treatment regime to get even longer lasting results.
Her comments are that it is slightly uncomfortable to use, producing a slight burning sensation on each pulse of light, and that it is very important to select the right intensity level as having it set too high actually makes it quite painful to use especially in more sensitive areas.
She also says that you really have to make a commitment to using the device regularly for you to get the desired results and that it will take at least six weeks before you really notice the difference so it can be easy to give up too quickly.
An underarm treatment only takes a few minutes, but it can take significantly longer to do your legs.
The device itself is beautifully made and really does look like a premium product and comes in a lovely storage pouch.
This is definitely a significant investment to make in both money and time, but the end results will be very worthwhile if you are prepared to make that investment.
Amazing Product! I love this product!! I’ve been using it for five weeks, I’m amazed at how hair free the areas I have been using it on are. I use to use an epilator which was quite painful, this it totally pain free (apart from zapping a rouge hair, that’s a bit stingy) I love the fact you don’t have to leave your house, and you get professional results. I cannot recommend this enough.
Just as good as its big siste Instructions are easy to follow and you get everything you need right out of the box.
Make sure that you shave or epilate before using to remove thick long hairs, then using the braun let the light do its job on the roots.
Gave this to the sister to use and review. She had never used IPL technology before so was apprehensive.
Reports back are that its the best thing she has ever used. She is more than happy as she said it will pay for itself in the long term on not having to visit salons for waxing. She would highly recommend.
A good device overall The Braun IPL Silk-expert Pro 3 is a smart bit of kit and is at the lower end of the lineup, it does require a bit more work and effort but over time the results will be worth it.
It comes in lilac and white and comes with a pouch to store it in and which is useful should you wish to take it away with you. There are a couple of attachments with different sized lenses for different areas of the body. The smaller of the two is ideal for the face or underarm, while the larger one is best used for legs or other large areas of the body.
As others have said there is a small amount of pain when using this, but depending on where on the body you are using it there is a gentler setting, perhaps something you might want to use on the face. Over time the results are evident but you do have to get into a routine and keep up using it on a regular basis if you wish for those results to last. With this particular model you should see permanent hair reduction in around 3 months, compared to 4 weeks with some of the higher end models.
There is an app that can be used to plan and track your treatments, it’s more of a basic calendar so you could just use any calendar app to do more or less the same thing. But this is a specific app aimed at keeping track of one thing so it may have its benefits if you want to keep it simple and stay on course.
At the current price of around 188 it’s about its money, if it was priced higher then it might be worth shopping around for one of the higher end models to see if you can get them for around the same price.
Works really well. This is a pretty good mid-range device from Braun. It reduces hair by treating the skin with a bright flashing light. It comes with a handy app that plans your treatment cycle. In the first instance you need to treat regularly for a period of a few weeks. I found that the hair did get lighter and drop out as time went on. And regrowth now seems to be inhibited now I am in the second ‘inhibition’ phase. The results speak for themselves.
The unit is easy to use, safe, ergonomic so it is easy to wield, and seems to be pretty well built. There are detailed instructions on how to get the best out of it and, as I said the handy app that was easy to install and use. All in all I was very impressed, especially with the efficaciousness.
Just what I've been waiting fo Over to the wife…
I have struggled with hair on my chin for many years now. At one time I had electrolysis, but it was expensive and didn’t work out that well for me. I was so excited to get my hands on this amazing gadget. My first use I found quite scary. I just did the test flash to see if my skin had any reaction, but I was very nervous and it did sting a bit. It took me a good few days before I built up the courage again to use it. I didn’t have any adverse reaction to it I am glad to say. I have been using it now for several weeks and I have to say I am amazed. I am no longer daily plucking out at least 15-20 hairs. Now the only ones I need to pull out are the white ones which the machine doesn’t zap although I am convinced that even the white ones are less. It is an absolute joy not to be constantly feeling a spiky chin. I have used it on my mustache too and that is now hair free. It is absolutely brilliant. The only thing i would say is that it is tricky to not go over the same area twice when you are treating yourself. It is just guess work to get exactly the right positioning when you have done one area, so that you don’t overlap into the same area when you are moving along your skin, but even if I have done that, there doesn’t seem to be any ill effects. I am absolutely thrilled with it and wish it had been in my life sooner. After about the second session, I would say I am now able to tolerate the mild stinging sensation easily and don’t really notice it. I am not scared to use it any more.
Good performance from this mid-range IPL offering from Brau We’ve used a couple of other IPL devices over the years, so we are already familiar with their various caveats – such as ensuring the user has a suitable skin colour and hair colour combination, as well as being sure that the device is not used on any moles or scars etc. There are a lot of warning and notices to observe before embarking on an IPL session, so make sure you heed the advice.
Anyway, this particular model from Braun is from their mid-range ‘Pro 3’ line of products. That has endowed it with a storage/travel pouch, as well as the face/precision attachment. It is a mains-powered device as opposed to rechargeable – which keeps costs down and also helps the device itself to be smaller and lighter in weight than some of the rechargeable ones I’ve come across in the past. It’s comfortable to hold in the hand, and it is easy enough to navigate the body and manoeuvre it into required positions.
There is an ‘App’ for use with your phone or tablet which is really just there to keep track of when you’ve done a treatment and to remind you when to do more. It’s nothing more than a bespoke calendar so really you could just make entries and reminders in your stock calendar App and achieve the same results.
For anyone who has never used one of these before, they are not totally painless. The feel of it when you fire the pulse of light is kind of like little hot pins in your skin. It’s not bad, but just don’t go into this endeavour thinking it will be pain-free, because it isn’t. You also need to level your expectations, as you aren’t suddenly going to be hair-free overnight either. You need to shave first, then use it, and expect to re-use the device over-and-over during subsequent sessions to start seeing a gradual reduction in the strength and thickness of the hair. Provided you are strict and thorough (and one of the compatible skin/hair combinations) you should be hair-free for a good long while before having to dig this thing out of the cupboard again.
At the current price of c. 188 (at time of review) that is pretty reasonable for the end-results. It’s hard graft, but it can be worthwhile and beats having to shave constantly. If it were priced at its RRP then I’d say it’s no way worth it, but currently I think it could be justified provided you are committed to the cause.
It works! And how ... ! This is a phenomenal product that really, genuinely works! It’s very easy to use, pain-free and comfortable. After using it for a few weeks, you will notice a huge reduction in hair. You then just need to use it about every 6 weeks for maintenance. Yes, it has a high price tag, but you’ll save time, shaving products and hassle and remain smooth-shaven … it’s a fantastic product.
5.0 out of 5 stars A worthwhile upgrade Things have moved on very swiftly in the IPL for use at home market since I first used one around 5 years ago. This is the best yet and worth consideration, even if you already have a device in use (as I do).
* Suitability
IPL technology is not suitable for everyone and I would urge a visit to the Braun website to read all the available information before you make a purchase. It is not suitable for use on red, white, grey or blonde hair and is less effective the darker your skin tone. Some medical conditions also render it unsuitable, things such as varicose veins, so it is worth reading the health warnings even if your skin and hair colours fit the criteria.
* Use
It works by targeting the root of the hair so you can shave to initially remove hair before a treatment, which will reduce the smell of burnt hair (hence the inclusion of a manual shaver in the kit). You can choose the level of intensity from extra gentle to normal; I chose normal as I have used similar devices for some time and just noticed some mild heat against my skin, which was not unexpected and felt fine. Choose extra gentle for the first few uses whilst you get used to it.
You need to know that you will not see instant results and are likely to need to continue removing hair manually whilst you build up the process — there is a guide to follow. Hair will eventually fall out in most cases and you will notice regrowth becomes less frequent and softer over time. In my own case, I do not need to treat very often at all, and I now have patches of bare skin where hair barely, if ever grows. That is after about 4 years of occasional use after perhaps a year of regular treatments, so it does work.
* Precision head
I do not have this with the model I chose, so I just wanted to say that the IPL is fine for use on the face and I did not have any trouble with use even on toes where I have previously found it tricky getting the contacts to allow a flash. In my opinion, unless the cost differences are minimal, it isn’t worth paying significantly more for the models that include the precision head as the IPL without it is sufficiently flexible.
* Is it worth updating your IPL?
I have been using IPL technology for a while and debated whether it was worth buying a new model, particularly as I am in a maintenance phase with little input needed to achieve hair-free skin. I am pleased that I made the decision to buy as the speed of use has improved immensely from the first device I bought about 5 years ago. Then, I had to spend 30 seconds zapping a single area before moving on to the next; it took an hour or more to treat lower legs and even a model that is about a year old is still an order of magnitude slower than this Braun.
This Braun model is phenomenally faster than any IPL I have used before, which makes it easy to fit in a session during even the busiest of days. There is no obvious delay for the lamp to recharge, it is literally a process that is held up by the time it takes you to move to another area with no waiting at all.
* Comparison of models
There are three latest models in the Braun Pro 5 range, which at the time of writing are PL5014, PL5137 and PL5124. Having spoken to Braun, I understand that the basic handheld IPL device itself is identical and the only differences between the three models are the inclusion of a precision head, different manual razors and different bags. All are safe to use on the face, albeit the precision tool may make application in that area easier; note that Braun has stated this tool will be available as a separate purchase soon.
I opted for the PL5137 without the precision head as it was available at a good price by comparison to the other two. The manual razor is fine and largely irrelevant as it is a throw away product designed only for short term use. The bag that comes with this more basic option is surprisingly good and much better than any that have been supplied with my previous IPL devices. So, don’t let the bag or manual razor influence your decision.
On the basis that you are getting the exact same IPL device across all three options and a decent bag even with the more basic package, your decision will largely be whether the additional cost of a model that includes the precision head is worthwhile. For me, it wasn’t, and I am pleased with the PL5137.
* Summary
The Braun IPL is compact, fast and comes with a good bag for storage. Check the Braun website for full usage instructions and cautions before you purchase to ensure its suitability, but it is a very good IPL option and I have no regrets about upgrading from my previous device, even though it was only a year old.
A mid range machine that ticks all the boxes. Very good. The Braun Silk Expert Pro 3 PL3132 is the little sister to the Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 and although it’s spec is not as high as the Pro 5 it does a very good job at a much reduced price.
It is a good looking machine in white with lilac accents, it is ergonomically designed making it comfortable to hold and use. It’s perfect for the face, arms, legs and bikini line.
The Braun Silk Expert Pro 3 PL3132 will give you 300,000 flashes which should be enough for at least 200 full body treatments (legs, face, arms and bikini line). Working on the premise that initially you will need ten weekly uses to stop hair growth then monthly to keep it at bay that’ll give you about eleven years of use, which is pretty good for a mid range machine.
This particular machine which is the Pro 3 PL3132 comes complete with the precision head, premium pouch/bag and the Venus razor. It is also twice as fast as the previous Braun Silk Expert 3.
I found this machine quite easy to use on my legs as follows:
** First I shaved, cleansed and dried each leg.
** I plugged the machine in using an extension lead which meant I could use the machine whilst sitting on my bed.
** The machine is ready to use as soon as it is plugged in.
** I then pressed the head firmly against my skin then I pressed the flash button. That’s it, simple. It took about 15 minutes to finish both of my legs.
The machine goes into standby after about ten minutes of no use and turns of altogether after around an hour.
I have been using the Pro 3 for a full ten weeks and already I can see that the hair on my legs has virtually stopped growing, so I shall be going into the maintenance phase next week.
I’m really happy with this Braun Silk Expert and the result speaks for itself.
3 Weeks In, So Far So Good Before using this product its best to make sure you read all of the manuals, familiar yourself with the ILP technology and understand that this is and on going treatment that yields results overtime, rather than a one hit wonder.
The ILP technology is really impressive, is the device adapts to your skin pigmentation and type of hair. This allows the device to ensure the right amount of treatment is applied.
The head is also small enough for me to maneuver around difficult places, such as ankles and and other tight areas.
The product does work, the results after 2 weeks is clearly visible as there is definitely a reduction in hair growth. 3 weeks in and the results are better still.
I have nothing but good things to say about this product, easy to use, clear instructions. An expensive product it maybe, but the results are nothing short of fantastic.
A great little gadget - IPL machines WORK! These IPL machines are a far more cost-effective way of achieving permanent hair removal than going to a salon. This is a step further than your average as it allows for much quicker coverage of your legs: you can continually flash as you move along the skin rather than removing the machine and replacing it for each flash. However, this does mean that you are in danger of missing spots if the machine glides over the skin, loses contact and doesn’t flash, so I would recommend going slower than you might expect.
The machine also loses a star because it isn’t chargable – I expected it to be, as having to use it with a cable close to an electrical socket is limiting. I expected it to be rechargable and then wireless, but this does mean it doesn’t run out halfway through a session.
The narrower head is really useful for areas such as the top lip and bikini area, while the wide one covers your legs well.
The machine reads your skin tone and decides on its own setting; I’m not sure about this, as I am quite stoical and prefer to blast myself (safely) in order to ensure hair loss. But this does add in an important safety factor.
The machine handily comes with a small razor to enable you to get rid of any hair prior to usage.
The ‘cons’ aside, this is a fantastic addition to the IPL family and I recommend it to anyone looking to invest.
A good mid-range IPL device These Braun IPL hair remover devices are getting smaller and smaller, ideal for being more portable and less bulky to use.
The latest line includes Braun’s lower powered (and therefore cheaper) Silk*expert Pro 3 PL3132 which takes the form of a handheld device that looks like something from Star Trek and is certainly out-of-this-world to use.
My wife has used many of these devices since the started becoming popular. While IPL devices do eventually remove hair without it regrowing, it takes a lot of time and also the first ones were for larger areas only. This smaller device can be used on the face easily as well as bikini line and under arms,
We found this was so easy to use on the face, using the small head with a smaller lens on. There is a larger lens for the main body, though this was slightly smaller than past devices and meant that it took a little longer on larger areas than the bigger, bulkier Philips and Braun IPL devices from the past. This also seemed more powerful and my wife remarked that it was slightly more painful on the skin once she’s pressed the button to emit the laser light on her hair, but she could also see it working.
The power isn’t as strong as the other pro models available and therefore results aren’t as noticeable as quickly. Results are expected at around 3 months, as opposed to 4 weeks for the others. This isn’t bad, though, as you’ll want to continue using this anyway to remove hair over a long period of time and gradually you’ll need to do less and less.
While the initial outlay for this device seems a lot, it lasts for 300,000 flashes of the laser, which works out at quite a few years. Bear in mind that after even a few years of using this, some of your unwanted hair won’t grow back with luck anyway, so it does work out well in the end.
A great item to zap your hair away! I found this unit super easy to use, way more so than a laser hair remover I tried a few years ago. It’s got options like glide mode, and it sits really nicely in the hand. Plus the facial zapper is really appreciated, as that’s my major issue. Shame it’s corded rather than rechargeable! As another reviewer said, it’s really difficult to review this for Vine, as it’s something that you use over a long period of time that gradually decreases body hair through laser light treatment. But early results are positive so fingers crossed it will continue to be so. Make very very sure you read and follow the instructions, this is nothing to mess around with!
This works I am unsure about what level of expectation I had with this product, given I am similar in hair and skin shade( no great contrast) but it really has worked-I have to date only used it for legs, but it will function all over as described , away from head area I would suggest. Its super light and easy and almost without any discomfort-the real piece is here is that it works and 3 weeks on and 2 applications , I am completely hair free on the lower legs- if it means I dont need to go and have waxings any more it will be the genious discovery of the year-brilliant for a mans chest area too.
Very Impressed I am very impressed by this IPL. I have Polycystic Ovearian Syndrome and i have been using Philips IPL devices for years.
This is a lot smaller and lighter than my other devices, and a bit more user friendly. It has an app where you can follow your treatments which is fantastic because it gives you reminders of when to do your next one, which has been great.
The package is impressive, i like the fact that it comes with a razor to get you started, plus a great sturdy pouch to keep everything in. The product also comes with a 2-3 pin continental/uk plug, thank you Braun, This means that not only could i use it straight away, i can also take it on holiday with me.
So in use.
So far my results have been positive, i have PCOS which is Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome to those who have never heard of it and that means that i suffer with excessive facial hair.
This has been the bane of my existence for the last 23 years. When i found out i was getting this to try for free i actually burst into tears as i thought if it works it could literally change my life, you may think thats dramatic but it really isnt.
I have thick dark coarse hair on my upper lip, cheeks, chin and neck, in fact i have an almost full on beard. I tried waxing but that made it worse, the ingrowing hairs alone were painful beyond words and i tried shaving but it was endless torture and redness and the stubble was horrific, and so i resorted to tweezing it out. I would do this for up to an hour every single day, sometimes more, i hated it and the reason im sharing this with you is to make you aware of my issues before i used it.
As usual you have to shave the area to be treated 1st and you are ready to go. The following may make you laugh or you may find it crass if that’s the case i apologise in advance.
There was no pain, just a little sting at 1st but then i didnt notice it.
I used mine whilst facing a mirror so i could see what i was doing, i have to admit though that the smell of burning hair was a little shocking at 1st, but the most disconcerting thing for me was seeing the smoke come off your face haha its like my face was on fire, im just joking it wasnt that bad, but there were very visible tendrils of smoke coming from my face, i just thought cool, its working.
Anyway, the day after, i was surprised and relieved to discover i had no redness or itchiness and so i proceeded to do my armpits, again this was simple and easy to do, you must must shave 1st, it says 1 minute per underarm, but i definitely did more than that, at least 2 minutes each side, but like i said im hairy.
Anyway 2 weeks after 1st treatment i can see visible results, i was shocked actually, dont get me wrong its only about 20% of the hair but what has happened for me is that i have found that instead of plucking out the hairs and having them be tugged out like they were stuck in concrete, i can literally pull them out with my fingertips with no resistance, however like i said, its not every hair but about 20%
It hasnt slowed down my growth in any way and so on i went with my 2nd treatment. This time i was a little more aggressive with my applications to my face and spent a good 10 minutes flashing away. Now this is not recommended but im just being honest about what i did.
As i was in the zone, i also did my fingers and toes.
2 weeks after that treatment i am up to around 30% effectiveness, but only on my lip, chin and neck, and some of the hair just fell out by itself when it had grown to a mm. I still pluck every day but this is now down to about 20 minutes, on that alone its been amazing.
I have not noticed any difference so far in the armpit area but as that is so thick and coarse i imagine it is going to take months to see visible results.
Lets be frank, the groin area isn’t the easiest place to put a razor let alone a bigish IPL device and im going to be honest i found it really difficult.
The top of the vaginal area was pretty easy as you can just stand in front of a mirror pull the groin skin tight and flash away, the problem comes when you need to go down to the vaginal opening and further back. It is absolutely impossible to be able to do this yourself, there is just no way , unless you are double jointed or a contortionist anyway. I tried lying down on the floor with my legs up as far as i could get them and face the mirror but i just couldn’t do it, i had to ask my other half if he would help me, and he flat out refused to do it, he said it was totally gross lol
I tried for an hour but i just cant do it, so the only place i could get to use it was in the crease line between the vagina and the groin. For gods sake whatever you do, dont make the mistake i did and think you can do it on the inside flap of the labia because you might cry, or swear a lot, i cannot tell you the words that came out of my mouth, so don’t try it, not advisable.
Overall i am extremely impressed with this, it does show visible results, but you do have to do it every 2 weeks to maintain it and stop the hair growing back.
ead the manual, do the patch tes The Braun Silk*expert Pro 3 is pleasantly designed and this translates into a device that is easy to hold. It comes with a bag for easy storage. Braun have also provided a manual Gilette razor as you will need this to remove longer hairs before you can use the device.
The instructions are very detailed which is great before the first time you start; a quick start guide would also be useful so when you are actually using it you can follow quick visual instructions rather than trying to read through lots of text.
Before you run the Braun Silk*expert Pro 3 over your body the manual guides you to perform a skin test and leave it for 48 hours to ensure you don’t have an adverse reaction to it.
After 48 hours and no bad effects in my test area, I tried the gliding technique on my legs which I found easy to do although i possibly missed some gaps! Although it says you don’t need glasses i found myself closing my eyes as I did it! Time will tell if I did leave gaps and I may have patchwork hairy legs! The hardest part was along my shin bone as I missed in the instructions not to use the standard head on this area!
Braun include two heads in the box; the standard head for winder areas and the precision head for places you need more accuracy. I found the curve device easy to handle and use.
Despite the wordy instructions it is easy to use. I was excited to see if it work the first 48 hours were agonising, and a few days after the first use there is still a wait to see how effective it is in the long term.
In the comfort and privacy of your own home This is well well presented, and the instructions are clear, in English and all very helpful. I was at first slightly afraid of such a modern treatment, as I usually prefer to use a ladies razor which always gives me reasonable results. However I was pleased to read the other positive reviews and encouraged by their universal recommendations.
The bag to keep this device is discreet, attractive and practical, a mauve and white design, exactly like a cosmetics or ‘toilet’ bag. The Pro 3 is neat, easy to use and runs from a mains cord so there’s no bother with charging it up. You can glide or stamp with the machine to work on various shapes and contours of your body. I am impressed with the initial results and happy to carry on using it to sort out any hairs that have evaded the first treatments. Although my head hair s fair, blond/grey my body hair has always been darker, so this treatment is suitable for me.
You are bound to feel more relaxed and at ease at home using this than trekking off to a salon and paying what very soon mounts up to a similar expenditure. With the reductions on the page, at the time of writing, it seems good value after a very short time of use. As summer is coming soon, I imagine that this machine will become ever more popular, and I will be saying why on earth didn’t we have this years earlier?
Pro5 PL5014 - Its fast! This Silk*expert Pro 5 PL5014 corded IPL device is fast! Yes really, I’ve used other makes/models of IPL previously and this is definitely a lot quicker.
Firstly and most importantly, I would recommend that anyone thinking of purchasing this device not only read the product information carefully but also visit the Braun website first to download and read the user manual before buying as IPL isn’t suitable for use by everyone.
IPL treatment isn’t a quick fix, to achieve lengthy periods of ‘hair-free’ skin requires sessions, every week initially and once achieved you still need to continue with top-up sessions every few weeks. Making the time is worth it to me, being able to rely on not having to shave my legs, think about my bikini line or armpits in the summer or when on holiday is great.
Times between continuous top-up sessions differ from person to person as our hair grows at different rates, but personally I find if I do a ‘top-up session’ once every 6 weeks it keeps the areas I use it on hair free.
The Pro5 can be used in single stamp mode with manually controlled flashes or you can hold the button down and use it in gliding mode with the flashes almost continual as you move it over larger areas of skin. As already stated this Pro5 is faster than other make/models I’ve used before and this is where it really stands out from the others in my opinion. No excuse now, even I can fit those top-up sessions into a busy schedule.
Another great feature of this model is the automatic sensors that continually read your skintone as you move the treatment window across your skin and adjust the intensity to the optimum level for your skin. For new users or those with sensitive skin it does have manually adjustable comfort levels; normal, gentle and extra gentle.
Smaller and lighter than previous models, this device is comfortable to hold and the treatment window is a good size, I didn’t have any problems with the sensors either side of the window making good skin contact. The PL5014 comes with nice zipped storage case, user guide and they even supply a Venus razor.
I’m really impressed. Time is precious to me and this not only works, it works very quickly leaving me more time for other things. Definitely recommended!
Good results but it takes a few weeks This IPL unit is easy to use and move around your hairy bits. You can use it on most places you have unwanted hair. It takes a few Months of using it once a week to catch the regrowth of the hairs that didn’t get caught the first time, but not much more time consuming than shaving really. There is a little pinch type sensation as you apply the light but you soon get used to that and it is not painful. I have quite fine hair and I am expecting it only to take a couple more applications to catch everything which will be about 5 week but if you have darker hair or more of it, you may expect to take longer.
They are expensive but I think worth it.
Braun Silk·expert Pro 3 PL3132 Latest Generation IPL, Permanent Visible Hair Removal This product is for my wife so the review will be from her point of view. Having used IPL devices in the past with disappointing results i wasn’t expecting much. But Braun are a well known, trusted brand.
This IPL device is at the lower end of their product range but we decided to try it based on other reviews. It is painless and glides over the skin. You should test it on a small area first, depending on your hair colour and skin tone.
So far the results are positive, with visible signs of reduction in hair growth.
It might take a bit longer than the pricier brands but that is not a worry as long as it does the job.
This would be a good investment if you have to go to pricey salons as well. You would definitely save money in the long run.
Small but grea First I was impressed with how compact this set is. Having had a much larger version previously this one comes in a compact zipped pouch no bigger than A4 size. Inside beautifully designed is a small and easy to hold machine that set up in seconds. A few moments reading the instructions and you are on your way to hairless skin. One point to note though is whether your hair colour and skin tone are suitable for this device before purchase. Check this first – or else you will be disappointed.
It is very easy to hold and use and it has a great feature whereby it reads your skin tone to set the light intensity appropriately. I did find that it felt quite hot for me to use the first time but not painful. Time will tell how effective it is – you need to use it 1/week for 12 weeks but I have no doubt it will work. A highly recommended hair removal system.
Works Really (Well) Worth The Investme My wife has kindly helped me with the following review: Braun are a well established brand associated with quality, so I was expecting the best from this latest generation of their Braun Silk Expert Pro5 Permanent Visible Hair Removal….. and it hasn’t disappointed. Its pleasantly easy to use. The user guide gives excellent, clear instructions, and the results which are, so far anyway, as promised by the marketing blurb. Providing you operate this exactly as per the instructions, and don’t try to use in on unsuitable hair colour/location (!), etc it’s a safe and painless way of achieving permanent hair reduction. Its a nice looking device that’s comfortable and easy to hold and control. The ‘intelligent’ part means that it is continuously adapting to your skin as you move over it. It’s corded, which is probably the only negative thing I can say about it. But that’s a small niggle really. On first impressions it may also seem a bit expensive. But in all honesty, if it means no more leg shaving, etc then it really is worth the investment.
Promising My first impressions are very favourable. It is quick and easy to use though it takes an extended programme to achieve the hoped-for permanent removal. It feels much better than one I had from Phillips which definitely wasn’t permanent. Whether this does better it is too early to tell (you won’t know the answer to that until you start seeing reviews around June 2019) but based on what I have seen it seems a good product and good value.
Excellent IPL, all the gain with none of the pai My wife has been using IPL devices for a while now and each new generation is better than the last. This new model from Braun, despite being at the lower end of their range, works well. It might be a bit slower to use than than the really expensive devices but it works well, with no pain and noticeable results.
Very Effective Painless Permanent Hair Removal The product was used and tested by my wife whose comments and feedback were used as the basis for this review.
Firstly the cost is something I need to mention, a high price item, perhaps out of the reach of many people considering this type of treatment. I have used similar permanent hair removal systems like this before with very good results. Operation is pain free, however I would test this on a small area and refrain from using on very sensitive areas without further testing. Should not used around the eyes due to the safety concerns with lasers causing possible damage to eyes. The results are very good definite effective hair removal with no further hair growth from the same roots. The usage should be staged according to the manufacturer’s recommendation for the most effective treatment and to prevent any problems. Overall it expensive however it does do a very effective in eliminating hair growth permanently buy one if you can afford it you won’t regret the results. Permanent and less painful than other hair removal system
Laser hair removal. Not for certain hair colours. If you’re looking for a longer term hair removal method than waxing or even regular use of epilator, this could be ideal for you.
Fortunately my hair is naturally very dark as it bares noting that this product is not suitable for red, white or very blonde hair. It also isn’t suitable for use on intimate areas.
It’s very effective so far and simple to use. Is it worth the price difference to a good epilator? If you’re someone who’s hair grows rapidly and thick then you might find this is much better for you in the long run. Certainly if you seek this treatment out in salons, you’ll make a substantial saving by purchasing this device
Improved Model Wife and daughter had the original version of this model and were very pleased with it. This one has gone up a level in their opinion making it more efficient with useful additional features. Often an upgraded version is little more than a restyle but not in this case. The extra settings are very welcome especially for sensitive areas like under arms where the older model was not as comfortable.
It definitely is more efficient too and it comes with a very useful case. All in all, worthwhile improvements none of which can be categorised as gimmicks.
Superb The package is well presented and included is the device itself is a hand held affair, charger, and a little bag to hold it all. Also included was a venus razer.
Use is very straightforward. As I understand the hair has to be in the `growth’ stage and so I shaved the rear of my upper arms in order to use it during it’s growth stage. I particularly like to keep on top of my back and upper arms.
It is simply a case then of selecting the appropriate intensity for your hair/skin colour and away you go. In use the sensation was quite tingly for me but not uncomfortable.
The included info guides you through this process and the correct selection etc but if unsure I would suggest starting off on a lower setting to see how you react.
In use there was some light bleed so I investigated the need for googles. Although you don’t need them in use they may be handy to reassure or help those particularly sensitive to flashes of light such as migraine sufferers etc.
I am both surprised and encouraged by the results that quite frankly I was sceptical of.
I am happy to report that it has had a positive effect. Hair has started to regrow but it is much lighter and I am confident in a few more sessions this will reduce further. My wife has used it on her underarms and really noticed a lessening in regrowth and what does regrow is much lighte
Beautifully styled top of the range IPL produc IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology has been used widely in the medical profession by trained practitioners for a number of years but has now become a safe method for use in the household with no special skills required other than following the instructions correctly.
IPL works in a similar way to laser treatment in that it kills the hair at the root by penetrating the surface layer of the skin and heating up the melanin in the hair/root until it is destroyed. Laser treatment gives similar results but relies on a single wavelength rather than a broad spectrum used by IPL. Both systems are proven to be effective, but there is a much greater range of IPL devices than laser currently on the market which suggests this is the way to go for hair removal.
This Pro 5 PL5015 is the latest generation of IPL devices by Braun and is claimed to work twice as fast as the previous Silk-expert 5. It’s also slightly more compact and lighter than the previous model and has a greater flash level of 400,000 flashes rather than 300,000 previously. It’s also worth noting that as new models are released, the old ones become attractively reduced in price.
In terms of technology and features the PL5015 is at the top of the IPL range of products. It is currently the only one to offer a skin sensor (Braun calls it SensoAdapt) which automatically and constantly adapts to the skin tone to give the optimum energy level for efficient hair treatment.
The new model is similar, but smaller and lighter, than the previous Pro 5 version and retains the sleek and attractive appearance of its predecessor. With its white body and gold coloured head and control panel it looks every bit as expensive as its launch price tag. The controls are kept to an absolute minimum with 3 comfort modes – normal, gentle and extra gentle. It comes with a good quality zipped carry pouch large enough for the unit, mains cord and the Venus razor for pre-treatment hair shave.
As is normal with IPL treatment, the product safety warnings should be read carefully to reduce health risks, and it’s worth noting here that IPL is not effective on red, blonde, grey or white hair, and should not be used on certain areas of the body as advised in the instructions.
Very effective painless hair removal system, the best we have used. My wife has had several previous models of this very effective painless hair removal system, This is the best we have used.
It takes a little time for the results to be seen but is worth waiting for.
No more shaving or epilator’s required. It’s an expensive purchase, but a lot cheaper than visits to a health spa.
Be aware of your skin and hair colour. This particular model is the lower end of the IPL devices from Braun … when it comes to price.
The IPL devices costing half as much again do things faster but is it worth it?
The hair treatment timetable for this is about 3 months and for the more expensive units about 4 weeks. However when we used it it worked brilliantly and I can’t seeing it being needed again for weeks ! So hardly a major advantage. Apparently this one only flashes 300,000 times compared to the more expensive model is 400,000 times. This one has a comfort mode …. the other one a super comfort mode … This one takes 9 mins for your legs the other one 5 mins. See where I’m going with this ? This should definitely not be viewed as the poorer cousin as it does everything the more expensive unit does but takes a little bit longer … but for what gain? My wife is well happy with this and the money saved she can go buy some shoes and other bits and pieces.
As always you get a nice little case for it but for the price you’d expect that.
The size is very manageable … I was expecting something bigger but it’s bulky enough to make you take your time just not so big as to become unwieldy.
Wife was chuffed with it and remember …. if she doesn’t like it they have a 30 day money back guarantee. I’d recommend this as great for the price compared to the high end models.
comfortable to hold and effective to use. First things first, it is important to check that this is suitable for your skin type/colour. It will be an expensive purchase, if it isn’t! This is my sister’s review as she is the one using it. She has had previous ones which have been cordless which has some obvious advantages. This is corded but is also easy to use but you have to be near a socket. It is much more compact than previous hair removers and light. It is very comfortable to hold. It works quickly and painlessly. It does large and small areas with ease. It is continuously adapting to the skin. Early results very good and there is a real confidence that the hair will stay removed. My wife especially likes the feel and comfort of holding the device. It comes with a pouch to store it and to carry it with you which will protect the device and also a venus razor. Well designed, well thought out, well made and has the feel of quality. Easy to use as well. Recommended.
So good to use Wow it really is a great piece of kit.Does everthing it says.Very easy to use and the results are super duper..
Very expensive but I think it is worth it in the end with the results
I am so happy to use this,it does not hurt or pull the skin in any way.It is very skin safe.
My daughter is longing to use it as her one was a cheapie even though it still does the job.Not as well as this one I am guessing.I don`t want to use the jargon about this as it is all in the box
Fantastic home hair removal system IPL hair removal devices have been around for several years now and this is one of the latest models. It’s from Braun so you pretty much know it’s going to be a good product and right out of the box this is proved to be the case.
Inside you get the main unit, a carry case, and a Braun Venus razor.
The main unit is a touch on the heavy side, but still not too heavy to make it uncomfortable. It is ergonomically designed and comfortable to hold. This unit is wired, I personally prefer this style as you never have to worry about recharging – just simply plug in and go. IPL works by emitting laser flashed onto your skin whilst you drag the unit over it. The laser flashes basically kill the hair follicles, preventing hair from regrowing. The benefits of this are a better look, less hair regrowth and you use it less often. The downside is the price. If you regularly visit salons to have this treatment done though, you will soon see the savings. It’s also more convenient to be able to do this at home when you need to.
My wife found this easy to use, painless and the results were fantastic. Within half an hour all her body was treated and there is no mess or hassle. Braun have really designed a great product here, and it’s fully guaranteed. I would definitely recommend checking the suitability chart in the product description as it is not suitable for all hair types, but caters for most.
This is an excellent purchase and works really well. It’s akso well designed and made and feels built to last
5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!
My friend recommended this ages ago, I was debating which one to buy maybe a different brand or a more expensive newer one, but this is working amazing after 4 weeks i already have patches with no hair!
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product, saves tons of time and money
Amazing product, was recommended by friend, received delivery on time, easy to use with well written instructions, hassle of shaving, having stubble is no longer a pain, I already have smooth skin with no hair, consistency is key point best product overall
I have been using this over 6 months- I waited to write the review.
Thank you!
I can’t believe this little device works so well.
4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good
So far I see improvement in losing my hair but I think it’s too early to judge as it’s only been 1 month since I started using it.
Works a trea
Great product, seen noticeable reduction in hair on legs and armpits in only a few uses. I’m a little scared of the heat so only tend to zap a few times but has made a considerable difference to hair growth, with some really smooth patches already! And so quick to do it almost seems too easy! Was very dubious but would definitely recommend seeing such quick results!
Excellent produc
Good value for money. You start seeing a difference after a few weeks of use, if you are constant and follow the instructions such as shaving just before using it, its very important.
Definitely worth it, I would highly recommend it !!!
I’ve now had the Braun IPL about a year.
I shave once in 2-3 months now
I was very skeptical about the product since nothing ever helped me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great produc
I have waited to write this review and 6 weeks in I have no under arm hair at all a week after treatment so will be goi no to fortnightly treatments.
Can’t believe i
Definitely exceeded my expectations.
I last used a Braun IPL device over 5 years ago and my gosh have they come a long way!
I was bought this as a gift and I can honestly say I’m shocked (in a good way!). It says “results can be visible from 3 Treatments” but my lord are they!! I’ve done three treatments on my armpits and the difference already is incredible. Not only has it slowed the growth already, the hairs aren’t as thick and unsightly as they were (I haven’t been shaving between treatments on purpose as I wanted to see the results! )
I’m very pale with very dark hai
good item worth the money
This was really good to use.
Definitely recommend this product.
grea
Really good product. Got it for the girlfriend as the old one she had had for 6 years. Works really well and zaps hair well. Very quick and easy to use.
I got the Pro3 as after a lot of research I reasoned that the only difference (important to me) was it might take a bit longer to do each treatment and for solid results to show, in comparison to the Pro5.
Prime impressioni ottime
Bought this as a Christmas present for my wife. Been 5 months and she still says how amazing this is. Her sister bought this too and replaced it with going to expensive beauty saloons.
Happy af
Very quick delivery! I ordered it on a Sunday and received it on the coming Tuesday (yesterday). Though I didn’t like that the box revealed what was inside as well it’s a product of high value. Despite that everything is grea
So far so good
I have received the product before I expected, really good delivery. So far is the second time I used it and I can see that the hair does not growth soo fast as it did it before, but as said is the second time so I will give it more time to see better results.
It is a really light device and really easy to use. Personally, I just feel a bit of pain but nothing bad.
Good product!
I’ve struggled to keep my legs smooth in the past, I tried everything.
Great Tool
In terms of actual hair removal and the effects of using this machine on the removal of hair: This is a great tool for hair removal.
The bes
One of the best and most effective epilators I’ve ever used.
Added benefits of Hair Removal
The Silk-Expert Pro is very easy to set-up and use.
Great mid-range device
This is a mid range IPL hair remover device.
I wouldn’t recommend for the RRP of 424.99
My 28-year-old daughter has been using this IPL hair remover for about eight weeks and she is now delighted with the results it now produced.
Just as good as its big siste
Instructions are easy to follow and you get everything you need right out of the box.
A good device overall
The Braun IPL Silk-expert Pro 3 is a smart bit of kit and is at the lower end of the lineup, it does require a bit more work and effort but over time the results will be worth it.
Over to the wife…
We’ve used a couple of other IPL devices over the years, so we are already familiar with their various caveats – such as ensuring the user has a suitable skin colour and hair colour combination, as well as being sure that the device is not used on any moles or scars etc.
Things have moved on very swiftly in the IPL for use at home market since I first used one around 5 years ago. This is the best yet and worth consideration, even if you already have a device in use (as I do).
* Suitability
* Use
* Precision head
* Comparison of models
* Summary
3 Weeks In, So Far So Good
Before using this product its best to make sure you read all of the manuals, familiar yourself with the ILP technology and understand that this is and on going treatment that yields results overtime, rather than a one hit wonder.
A good mid-range IPL device
These Braun IPL hair remover devices are getting smaller and smaller, ideal for being more portable and less bulky to use.
This works
I am unsure about what level of expectation I had with this product, given I am similar in hair and skin shade( no great contrast) but it really has worked-I have to date only used it for legs, but it will function all over as described , away from head area I would suggest. Its super light and easy and almost without any discomfort-the real piece is here is that it works and 3 weeks on and 2 applications , I am completely hair free on the lower legs- if it means I dont need to go and have waxings any more it will be the genious discovery of the year-brilliant for a mans chest area too.
I am very impressed by this IPL.
The Braun Silk*expert Pro 3 is pleasantly designed and this translates into a device that is easy to hold.
In the comfort and privacy of your own home
This is well well presented, and the instructions are clear, in English and all very helpful.
Good results but it takes a few weeks
This IPL unit is easy to use and move around your hairy bits.
Braun Silk·expert Pro 3 PL3132 Latest Generation IPL, Permanent Visible Hair Removal
This product is for my wife so the review will be from her point of view.
Small but grea
First I was impressed with how compact this set is.
Works Really (Well) Worth The Investme
My wife has kindly helped me with the following review: Braun are a well established brand associated with quality, so I was expecting the best from this latest generation of their Braun Silk Expert Pro5 Permanent Visible Hair Removal….. and it hasn’t disappointed.
Promising
My first impressions are very favourable.
Excellent IPL, all the gain with none of the pai
My wife has been using IPL devices for a while now and each new generation is better than the last. This new model from Braun, despite being at the lower end of their range, works well. It might be a bit slower to use than than the really expensive devices but it works well, with no pain and noticeable results.
Very Effective Painless Permanent Hair Removal
The product was used and tested by my wife whose comments and feedback were used as the basis for this review.
Improved Model
Wife and daughter had the original version of this model and were very pleased with it.
Superb
The package is well presented and included is the device itself is a hand held affair, charger, and a little bag to hold it all.
Beautifully styled top of the range IPL produc
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology has been used widely in the medical profession by trained practitioners for a number of years but has now become a safe method for use in the household with no special skills required other than following the instructions correctly.
So good to use
Wow it really is a great piece of kit.Does everthing it says.Very easy to use and the results are super duper..
Fantastic home hair removal system
IPL hair removal devices have been around for several years now and this is one of the latest models.
It’s akso well designed and made and feels built to last
I would wholeheartedly recommend i
