Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought to replace my recently worn out GHD Air which has given me many years of efficient service. Initially tempted to buy the same again, but after doing my research I decided there might be some benefit to upgrading to a Helios. The main benefit to me is that it is noticeably lighter than the Air, which is pretty heavy. It is meant to be quieter too, and although it sounds quite different it doesn’t seem much quieter. I bought the Desert Sand colour for no other reason than it was the cheapest at the time. It’s a sort of apricot colour with rose gold trim; not subtle and a bit bling, but really not important to me. It came with a matching storage bag.

It is super powerful, with the controls being the same as the Air. The nozzle design has improved in that it no longer swivels annoyingly. The hot setting is seriously hot so I use sparingly when section drying my hair. One press review I read said that the testers found that using the Helios left their hair flat with little volume. As someone with very thick, course, wavy shoulder length hair this was music to my ears; one thing I am not in need of is additional volume! When I have finished styling with a paddle brush and a big round brush my hair looks straight and sleek but without the flatness and lack of movement that I find with straighteners.

The extra cost may not be justifiable for fine, manageable hair. For me, with my challenging hair however the results definitely make it worthwhile.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had always purchased hairdryers in the 20 and under category but after my Tresemme failed to produce any heat I researched new ones. My hairdresser recommended the GHD ones and my search bought me to these. The white and rose gold one looks classy and is presented in a solid box which I have kept to store the hairdryer in safely although the hairdryer does have a solid hoop for hanging it up should you wish.

The cord is long and the settings are noticeably different which is not always the case with the cheaper hairdryers.

There is quite a bit of weight in this hairdryer and if you suffer with weaker arms/wrists or have a lot of hair to dry this will likely make your arm ache which is something to bear in mind.

If you use the attachments it is worth mentioning that these do get extremely hot and you will need to let it cool for 5 minutes before attempting to detach it. I usually do this whilst straightening my hair, by which time it is cooler to remove.

Overall this is a great hairdryer and has definitely helped control the frizz of my hair and drys it quicker which is also a bonus. Certainly expensive but something you use frequently and should last a long time. I have no regrets

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe hairdryer dries hair fast and straighter more then ordinary high street hairdryers. Less fly away hairs and waves. You can go without the straighteners and give hair a rest from heat damage. The price is a bit high but worth it, just treat yourself, you won’t regret it. Liked it so much, purchased another for my daughter.

Excellent hairdryer, dries quickly and hair is smooth and sleek. Saves money and time, as also straighteners are needed far less afterwards too. Highly recommend.

This is a fab hair dryer. Has made such a difference to my hair – much less frizz than my previous hair dryer. It’s all about the nozzle – much narrower so heat is targeted better. Well worth the money.

I bought this a few months ago and can say I really love this hair drier!
Firstly, the colour is gorgeous – I love it and it makes it a little more fun to use and looks nice sitting in my dressing room.
It dries my long hair quickly but doesn’t fry it. It has heat and power settings so you can adjust to suit.
Some reviews said it was quite heavy but whilst it isn’t super light, I don’t find it too heavy and it feels durable and good quality. Came well packaged and would be a gorgeous gift. Really pleased with mine, so glad I purchased!

So my original helios died on me in January and I was gutted. Not wanting to pay so much for a hairdryer again I opted to go for another leading brand but I have returned it and bit the bullet and bought myself another helios. There is just no comparison for me I wash my hair every other day and I have long thick hair which is dry in a few minutes and has reduced the need for straighteners because of how well it performs.
    Wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe ghd helios hair dryer is a game changer for anyone looking for a professional-grade styling tool.

It has a powerful motor that dries hair quickly and evenly, leaving it smooth and shiny. The ceramic and ionic technology helps to reduce frizz and static, leaving hair looking sleek and polished. The adjustable heat and speed settings make it easy to customize the drying experience to your hair type, and the cool shot button helps to set your style in place. The lightweight design and ergonomic handle make it comfortable to hold and easy to manoeuvre, and the removable nozzle allows for easy cleaning.

The ghd helios is a fantastic investment for anyone looking for a high-quality hair dryer that delivers salon-worthy results.

In addition to its effectiveness on hair, I have to add that i also use this hair dryer on my beard and it works wonders! The adjustable heat and speed settings are perfect for my beard and it has become a staple in my daily grooming routine.

Overall, the ghd helios is not just a hair dryer, it is a versatile styling tool that works great on all types of hair, including beards.

This is a lovely hairdryer. It dries hair so quickly, and helps me get my curly hair nice and straight.
It’s also beautiful to look at (not that this matters with a hairdryer) but it’s certainly a nice bit of kit.

In this review Amazon have asked me to state “What do you use it for?”

Strangely enough Amazon I use it for drying my hair……

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPrior to buying this hair dryer, I’d had a Dyson for around 4 years. I was ready to disappointed having spent so much money about the ongoing issues with the filter cover breaking/ coming off (with several replacement parts being provided by Dyson) along with a general loss of heat/ power over time.

This hair dryer however, is the best I have ever owned. I have quite thick hair and little time and this is so powerful. It dries your hair so quickly even on the lowest setting and not at full heat. I have noticed an improvement in the condition of my hair as a result. Definitely recommend

Bought this for my daughters Christmas, it was a second choice as couldn’t justify spending almost 500 on another famous brand. She says its amazing and drys her her effortlessly and very quickly, leave her long thick hair very silky and smooth with zero frizz , she’s exceptionally pleased with this produc

I don’t know anything about hairdryers and why a 10 version is worse than a 170 version but she is happy and that’s all that matters

  21. Scott Ki says:

Loads of power which turns my curly/wavy hair straight with no effort. No apparent hair damage which is great. It is light and easy to use with sufficient cooling button & heat options. The attachment on the end is quite loose and has come off and lost itself a few times – and I live in fear that I will not find it again one day – for which I feel it loses a star. But overall I cannot see how this hairdryer could perform any better.

I brought this for my wife as a gift, after looking for several hair dryers, including the Dyson, this came out on top and for the price at the time, it wasn’t too expensive. My wife loves it, she doesn’t think its heavy and it certainly drys her hair quicker than her old hair dryer, it’s also much quieter than her older one, so in the early hours its doesn’t wake the household.

I bought this hairdryer after a recommendation from my hairdresser. They are really light to hold and the buttons easy to operate. The power these generate lifts your hair from the root giving fabulous volume. My mother now has one and her hair looks hairdresser styled every day. It’s taken years off her! They are eye watering pricey though so I’ve given them 4 stars instead of 5

Game-changer! I have really thick hair that takes 15 minutes to dry, this has cut it down to 4 minutes! I’m delighted. I spent a long time deliberating on whether to spend so much money on a hairdryer and read all the reviews on here & decided to go for it in the Black Friday sale. So glad I did! Hope it lasts as long as my ghd hair straighteners which are still going strong over ten years after purchase! Well worth the initial outlay. I’ve also been able to stop using conditioner as my hair is so soft with this hairdryer! Love it! Drastically cuts down my time getting ready – ten stars from me!

I bought this for my wife who’s a semi-professional beautician.
It set me back a fair bit but thank heavens she loves it.
She says it has a lot more power than the Babyliss she had before.
So, yes, we can highly recommend this hair dryer.

I wasn’t sure about this hairdryer, mainly due to the cost. I thought I would treat myself during the Black Friday deals. I choose the pastel blue which is a lovely colour. There are various speeds and heats, I tend to stick in the middle as the hottest setting is a little hot for me and the fastest setting makes my hair a little tangled. I have never been good at blow drying so tend not to bother which leaves my hair frizzy and fluffy, using this hairdryer makes a big difference, if I was any good at blow drying it would be perfect and I wouldn’t need straighteners. It is quite heavy for someone that might struggle and it is loud which is not a problem for me. Not sure it’s worth the high price tag but it is up there as a very good hairdryer.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFor the very first time in my life, I have purchased a professional grade hairdryer. I must admit, I was a bit sheepish, only because of the price tag. But I’m so glad I did! I absolutely LOVE this hairdryer. I can’t recommend it enough. Not only is it efficient (as other reviewers have reported), but it gives me a salon-looking dried head of hair, at home. I highly recommend!

  28. Anonymous says:

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our Usershis is great for me, as i’ve got a lot of hair, so it’s cut down drying time. however i find that when my hair is a little more damaged or i’ve gone too long between deep conditioning, drying gives it loads of knots. so definitely not suitable for thin or damaged hair.

in a way i think my 10 year old 30 revelon was as good, this only cut a few minutes off drying time and adds more work as i need to constantly brush to avoid knotting, unlike with the old dryer.

I had ghd hair dryer that I bought 6years ago and thought I’ll change it with a new sofisticated one from the same brand as I was very happy with the one I had my only problem with it is that it’s very noisy apart from that it’s still a good produc

This is a great hairdryer. Relatively compact frame and packs a huge punch with airflow.

Fast drying times and really does take the effort out of drying long and thick hair. This is a great alternative to the dyson hairdryer. We were between the two and opted for this, do not regret that.

Could come with some more accessories but not a bad point for us as we don’t need them.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI had some gift cards and wanted this dryer but was 30 short. Saw an open box deal for exactly that discount from new price so decided to take a chance, and have been delighted. I wouldn’t have even known it wasn’t brand new – I mean essentially it IS brand new and unused, just the box had been opened already, but I wouldn’t have known in all honesty, it was just the seal stickers weren’t stuck down. Dryer was pristine, cord still secured with twist tie. Super happy with the dryer itself – so powerful, hottest setting is probably too hot for me to risk full time use so I go with middle setting which is plenty hot enough and still dries my hair in half the time of my old dryer. It is lightweight too – can’t understand reviews stating it’s heavy because it just isn’t at all. 10/10 – highly recommend this dryer and using the open box discount, I will be doing it again for sure

Having just been abroad and used a different hairdryer while there I realised I needed a change as I could never recreate the salon blow dry. Doing my research I bought this and wow- my hair looked fabulous, it’s lightweight but powerful but doesn’t create flyaways. Only tricky part is fitting the nozzle on but that’s not a dealbreaker for me.

My hair person, expert, guru (said in my best Nick Miller voice) recommended this dryer and it is perfection. I wanted to buy a fancier more expensive trendy dryer and he said “NOOO. This is the one you want” and like cutting my fringe? He is always right. Thank the hair gods every day for this man.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have fairly frizzy & unruly hair if I don’t style it properly. This dryer does the job & then some. If I dry my hair straight it stays straight, I’ve just started to use the diffuser to do it curly & that seems to work well too. All in all I’m very happy with this, it’s better than the other one I have (Made by a well know vacuum cleaner company)

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersMy old hairdryer was on it’s last legs and I was looking for a replacement. It took me a while to make a decision whether to buy this one because of the price. With Amazon offering to spread the cost over 5 months, I took a chance with the intention to return if it wasn’t worth it.

Sounds mad but I knew I was onto something just by seeing the box which is very high quality. Once I delved inside I was even more excited. I ordered the black version and the matte finish with chrome accents screamed professional.

One use was all it took to ensure I was keeping it. It’s not the lightest nor quietest hairdryer I’ve ever had but that’s more than made up for in it’s performance. I have fine platinum blonde hair which can be difficult to tame due to flyaways and frizz. This hairdryer not only dried my hair in record time but also left it far smoother and shinier than I’ve ever managed to achieve without straighteners. A quick run over with my GHD straightners after and the result was just as good as any I’ve had coming out of the salon.

This hairdryer is the ultimate example of getting what you pay for and I can confidently say I will never go cheaper again.

The only potential drawback is the amount of heat thrown out by the unit. It gets hot, really hot and it’s easy to burn your scalp if you don’t have your wits about you.

Give it a try, you won’t regret i

Really good hairdryer for all the other reasons people have stated.
But the cold shot button.. literally is the same as turning the heat off with the heat switch. There is literally no difference between pressing the cold shot or turning the heat off. Both take a good 5 seconds before cold air comes through.
Pointless button – there is not ‘cold shot’ functionality on this hairdryer.
