I bought this to use with my PS3 superslim with HEN. My official DS3 and Sixaxis controllers are getting old now and I wanted something to use instead so I can give them a rest. Obviously official controllers can only be bought second hand and I was worried that I would end up with controllers just like I already had. When I saw these I was sceptical but saw that there were quite a few good reviews so decided to go for it based on that plus the very low price. Delivery was fast as always when Amazon do it. So as for my review:

    Build quality
On the face of it they look identical to official controllers. As you can see on my pictures I’ve put it next to my well used DS3 controller and there is barely any difference aside from the Sony branding. It weighs a little less than the DS3 but noticeably more than my Sixaxis controller. Some of the buttons stand more proud than on the official controllers feel a bit rough to press but nothing that will affect gameplay from what I can tell. It feels the same size as the official controllers but the plastic finish is rougher and thinner so doesn’t feel as well made.

    In use
It paired with both my Sony TV and PS3 with no issue and just as fast as any official controller would. I tried it on a lot of games to get a feel for how it works. PS3, PS1 and Retroarch all work fine with it. Despite one of the other reviewers saying it won’t work with PS2 games I had no problems with my PS2 games, it connected just like any official controller would once the console had rebooted into PS2 emulation mode and all the features worked (analogue, vibration etc.). The vibration isn’t as strong as on the DS3 but better than my Sixaxis controller which has none!

So in conclusion all good so far. I will continue to use this as my main controller for now and report back if any problems develop.

    All good so fa

Controller came well packaged. Complete with charging cable and analogue covers/pads. Easy to register to our ps3. Condition is immaculate, brand new device well made and overall material is great, strong tough plastic and could easily pass for a genuine playstation controller if it contained the trademark. I have a very happy little boy now as he can continue to play his games. Thank you. Highly recommended product.

    Good controlle

I’m very pleased with this controller. My PS3’s aren’t new and it’s SOOO GOOD to have a NEW controller that not only looks right BUT FEELS RIGHT too.

Apart from some tiny cosmetic details (brand specific) this device is ALMOST IDENTICAL to the original. The ONLY difference in shape that I can find is in the height of the analogue stalks (without the grips fitted). I PREFER THESE STALKS. I like the supplied grips.

    All the controls work nicely.

    The unit charges properly.

I hope these opinions and observations are helpful.

PS3 consoles – and their controllers – are getting a bit long in the tooth now; Sony stopped making them back in 2017. So it’s nice to have a low-cost option when it comes to buying a new controller!

There isn’t anything particularly of interest with this one. But arguably, that’s actually a good thing; it generally looks and feels like the real thing, though if you want to be a bit critical, the plastic feels a bit cheap and the triggers are perhaps a bit less responsive than with a genuine controller.

Still, given that the official controllers used to retail for over 40, this is a distinct bargain if you’re wanting to have a bit of a retro gaming session!

This controller is an excellent replacement for the PS3 original equipment. Build quality is generally good, not quite up to the official controllers standard, but at 10, it’s certainly good enough. It has performed flawlessly with my console, with no issues.

Overall an excellent controller, I’m very happy

    “Long Story Short”

It is a semi quality controller
It feels a bit cheap and quality could be better
You are getting what you paid for, all works great and feels ok but it is low priced controller
It will do the job : sure
How long it will last: cant say but i can assume that maximum few months of heavy use.
Great as a spare slim controller in case main one will stop working but dont treat it as main pad.

Value for money 7 out of 10

This feels as nice as thee originals and I actually prefer the the analogue and dpad to the original.

Everything is smooth and gives a great tactile feedback that’s perfect to use.

I had no problems at all connecting and really the only thing I would have liked to see was a longer cable. The provided one is only about 0.5m.

Like the addition of the analogue protective covers and they have a lovely grippy feel to them. Battery life is great.

    More than happy with this.

Really nice feeling buttons and sticks. Works grea

Made to a very high standard this is a great controller which looks just like the official one just without the logo and huge price tag. It connects to the console easy using the instructions provided and seems to be working well. No lag or issues when in use and all the buttons preform well and match that on the official one. Comes complete with charger and button covers which is a nice addition. Set at a bargain price too! I would purchase again 🙂

This budget controller comes in at under a tenner! I’m not going to rate this against some elite controller at 15x times the price, I’ll review this for its price range and, to cut to the chase, it’s absolutely fantastic.

It’s clear it’s trying to imitate the Ps3 controller and it does a good job at that while keeping it as its own thing. The button icons aren’t the official ones but the correct colours and you can clearly tell what they represent, so any quick time events won’t be a problem.

The analogue triggers are serviceable. They work well enough but perhaps a little spongy but I’ve felt way worse. Same for the D-pad but I have no issue with bi-directional commands.

Connects just fine, will also work with a few other devices. I won’t list them here as your mileage might vary but the ps3 and PC is fine.

It’s a lot lighter than the official one and does feel a little cheap, but, it is cheap! it’s under a tenner! This won’t replace your main controller if you have one, but it’s more than suitable for a second controller to give to a friend, or even if your main is broken. I honestly don’t know what else you could expect for something in this price range and I think it’s a great bargain. Very happy with it!

    Brilliant Budget Controlle

This controller is made of very good quality.

It’s easily paired with my console and a nice replacement for my old controller, which is very good for battery life.

I like it and I can recommend it.

When it comes to gaming, you could call me old school. Or, if you’re like my kids, you could just call me old. I’ve had my PS3 since it came out and for me it is still the epitome of consoles. I will use it until it is dead and buried. And while it has lasted me all this time, the original controllers have all long since perished. This is a fantastic off-brand replacement. It is every bit as respnsive and reliable as the original branded ones and is a whole lot cheaper. It comes with a charging cable and replacement pads too so you really get all you could need. For any other vintage enthusiasts out there, this is a god send.

It’s not often that you can buy a replacement controller for under a tenner. This specific controller is designed for the PS3 but also works on the PC and Steam Deck wired.

The controller comes boxed with charging lead, instructions and a pair of thumbs grips, which is a nice addition.
It does feel cheaper in the hand than a standard PS3 controller, but performance wise I had no issues. It charges just the same with the four flashing lights and pairs easily.

The lead could be a little longer for wired play, but again I had no issues using it for wired play on the Steam Deck.

Overall, it’s a decent budget controller and great if you require an additional controller for a low price.

    Nice budget controlle

PS3 controller feels great when playing, I also liked the construction of the controller which demonstrated a fine finish, overall a great buy.

    Same as Original
