The thing works, although battery life could be better. The operating system feels outdated, but with a lot of patience you can indeed set it up to play some tunes when swimming. Headphones stay in.

I have tried several products to be able to listen to audible books while swimming laps. This one works very well but was a pain to set up. One done however it has been easy to use.

After studying the lengthy reviews for a while and searching for other options I decided to take a dive with this. I have been pleasantly surprised to find out that it works despite the bad reviews. I have good vision, and no problems seeing the screen or pressing the buttons with minimal mistakes. Sound quality is fine, I haven’t tried any other headphones under water but I can’t complain about these. I downloaded Spotify and my music plays with no issues while swimming. It’s easy to skip songs with the buttons. It clips well to my goggles. I keep it on airplane mode and it lasts long enough for my two one hour swims, then I usually charge it, but it could possibly last for my third. It’s usually about 50% after my two swims. I also have been using the lap tracker, also very easy to use. Occasionally if I stop for water or don’t push hard enough on the wall, it may not pick up on my lap and it’ll skip one, but out of 40 laps it might miss two. I’m very happy with it. I’ve only been using it two weeks though, so fingers crossed it doesn’t start giving me issues. I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s so expensive!!! This should be $125 max. Seems pretty ridiculous. But it’s working. So I’ll keep it!
Update: still working almost 3 months later. I’m swimming for 4 hours maybe 5 before charging. Still works really well!
The player works flawlessly under water and the volume, play/pause, and skip controls are easy to use without looking while you are in the water. Has made my swim time longer as I can listen to my audio books and not be bored.
Drawbacks are the screen is unbelievably difficult to manage. Its so small and you have to log in on the device instead of some kind of app. Horrible experience trying to type my 11 letter email address to log into audible. Haven’t bothered with any other apps because its too painful. They provide a pen but still.
Second drawback is sync issues. When I first turn it on in wifi it will still show my old spot on the player but you hit play (while on wifi) it will sync to your most recent spot across any device. However, it has never successfully synced after my work out. So note the location before you turn off the player so you can sync to another device manually.
All in all its probably the best option on the market especially for audiobooks.
Have used UA products for about 5 years. Always the best products out there so if you are a regular swimmer, particularly freestyle or you’re moving a little faster than most, you’ll really appreciate the difference in ear seal and stability.
Since everyone has moved to music streaming a lot of the competing products have become very quickly outdated – the days of drag and drop purchased files after you’ve converted their formats are long behind us. The Delphin adapts to the way people get their music now through Spotify and credit to UA for addressing that aspect and really makes it a clear standout compared to the competition.
I initially assumed because of the size of this thing it was going to be really heavy but you honestly don’t notice it when it’s on and actually the number 1 thing is all about the seal you get on the ear buds. Typically I use the trees and throw away all the others. UA swimbuds variations consistently excel in this area of seal.
One area of improvement I’d like to see in future models relates to the battery. No issues with how long it lasts – performs great there. However, it likes to be charged for 3-4 hours only with lots of warning stickers about over charging. Whereas most people like to charge something overnight, forget about it and wake up and it’s ready to grab and jump in the pool with. Or at times it may be sitting on the charger for a couple of days before the rain stops and you remember to go and eventually take it off. In my case I would probably still overnight charge because that’s what humans do, and in the rare event that it eventually breaks then that’s on me and I’ll accept I need to buy a new one. Took a good 2 years for me to kill one this way with this naughty behavior which I was satisfied with given I would ordinarily have backed myself to lose the thing well before then. For future enhancements and models though, that’s the area I’d like UA to look at to make the experience slightly more user friendly.
Overall though, still a brilliant product and best on the market for what it does.
Certainly has made me swim more often, further, and faster by quite some margin.
I was a waterproof I pod nano guy, but apple stopped supporting their product when they re did I tunes. To continue getting podcast I had to leave my Mac behind and load Spotify onto the Delphin. The title is the fact. You need reading glasses, the little pen device and patience to make the thing work. Know what podcast you want because searching on the Delphin is not easy. I can't hurt to be near the wifi when you hit the download button, then wait for the indicator to turn green. (it says it's downloaded before it's actually downloaded) Turn off the wi fi and go find your podcast in the downloads file within Spotify. (not the download file on the main screen) Cue it up and go swim. MOST IMPORTANT -Press play then be sure you TURN OFF THE SCREEN before you go swim. It took a while, but I'm back in the groove and can fairly easily download podcast one at a time and listen to them while I swim. If you turn the entire device off when you are done it will save your place for the next swim.

Best purchase ever. I can swim for over an hour and not notice.
Before this product, I struggled to stay in the water for the folderation of a swim. I found swimming uncomfortable and it was hard to focus on my stroke for so long. By listening to an action scene in An audiobook, using the built-in Audible app downloader, I can focus on my stroke and just be in the moment listening to my book. I now swim a mile every other day and I’ve never been able to do that before without starting to cough and sputter or lose my rhythm. There’s a Bluetooth pairing option to control it with your computer keyboard, do that, it takes forever to use the tiny touch screen to put in Wi-Fi passwords otherwise.
I program it in with the wi-fi at my house, download a couple audiobooks, program it for the wi-fi at the gym, and then I turn the Wi-Fi on at the gym after my workout so it updates my place in the audiobook.
The tiny touch screen and internet browser is actually beneficial, despite being annoying to use. I was just finishing up a swim and remembered I was supposed to meet someone an hour before restaurant closed so I was able to quickly check the restaurant listing online and realized I had to hurry. That was really useful too. I have also taken down people’s email addresses when I meet a cool contact at the pool.
When I first bought this I was extremely happy to have something to play my audibles while I swam. I followed the instructions carefully, and found the screen is somewhat difficult because it is so small but I made it work. I was able to download a couple of books and I was able to charge it without problem. The reason I am not giving this 5 stars is mostly because I went to charge it 2 days ago-- and I only use the cable provided-- but it did not charge. I checked to ensure it was connected, and it was but still no charge. I took it to a different location to charge and used different USB chargers-- still it would not charge. I tried it several times. Finally, one last try and it took the charge. It shouldn't be so difficult! The earbuds are the best I've ever had (and I've been swimming with an iPod suffle for 13 years so I love being able to listen to my music or my book) but the charging aspect is making me concerned. I'm 32 days in, two days after the 30 day warrently, so we shall see what the future holds. Fingers crossed as I really like the product!!

Excellent Delphin micro table
I am so please of my birthday present it was so easy to used & navigate i swam almost every day it was so pleasurable using this little gadget Delphin micro tablet. A+++
Overall: Really like the device so far, four stars. Setup instruction needs a lot of improvement, one star.
Reviewers who commented that setup is a PITA are 100% correct. The purchase insert says “just follow the on screen prompts” but all of the steps you need to go through are not prompted. The screen is very small, so use a stylus, and have your readers handy. Now granted, there was more hassle that had nothing to do with Delphin, like when I tried to log in to Spotify, but I couldn’t because that’s through my Facebook and I couldn’t remember the password, and Facebook was being jerks about sending me a code to just reset the stupid password, yadda yadda Facebook yadda, and after hassling that for 30 minutes I needed a drink just to get through the rest of the process.
Which from there, was easy enough. Once I was able to use my phone as a remote, it was easy-peasey. My advice is before you start, have the passwords for the wifi and all the apps you want to use ready in front of you, and also have the help/faq page on Delphin’s website already open. You’ll save yourself a lot of time going in circles. But have a drink anyway, if you like.
It did have problems charging right out of the box. The third time I needed to charge it, no dice. Delphin promptly exchanged it, no issues.
The only thing that concerns me is, still, the battery. After my first swim of the week, my battery is down to 77%. Great. After the second swim, for the same amount of time, it’s down to 4%. Why would it use 23% of the battery in 90 minutes and then use 73% the next time it’s used for 90 minutes? And yes, I’m turning the screen and the device off per instructions, and not charging for more than 4 hours. My device at least does NOT give 6 hours of battery life. More like 3.
Still, so far I’m happy with this product. It’s easy to use and stays securely clipped to my goggles, so light I can’t even feel it. The sound is great. Listening to music I like instead of the crap they play at my pool has turned my swim workouts around 180 degrees.
I have tried a few underwater MP3 players. I was super bummed after losing my waterproof iPod shuffle. I used it for years. However, with the delphin, it is so nice to be able to easily change my playlists (I have Spotify premium) with music that I don't necessarily own. I also like that I can update the playlist wirelessly. The touch screen can be a little difficult to navigate simply because of its necessary small size, and the volume controls definitely took me a bit to get used to. I have not had trouble with the batter life, but I also charge it after 3 or 4 swims. Overall, I think this is better than the iPod shuffle because of the Spotify option and definitely better than the cheaper mp3 options available.

Good swimming device…but beware
BEWARE. You cannot download or stream any podcasts from
A streaming service UNLESS you are a paid subscriber. You can download into the Delphin podcasts from iTunes or other free services. But make sure there are MP3. That was disillusioning. Still, I had searched and couldn’t find anything that covered as many bases as this one did. The Delphin/ swimbuds ended up being top of the line and expensive. It was simple to charge and load up software. Not as easy to set up desired screen preferencesbut good enough after a bit of practice tapping various icons. Was surprised and grateful for the myriad types of earbuds. I found several that worked well. An interesting side note. Do not push earbuds all the way into your ear once in the water. The sound and seal is really good just partially in. As for Delphin itself.you have to download everything as MP3. Same with iTunes musicchange preferred songs to MP3, copy to desktop, then back to windows media. Frustrating, but I got it to work. It takes a bit to get used to, but after a few tryouts in the pool, I adjusted sound, and sensitivity, I’m glad I purchased. Stays on very well, and sounds really good underwater. Has lots of options and a nice carry case.
Love
Love this product so much. I link it to my Spotify and it makes swimming less of a chore. Only issue is that as I don’t wear a swimming cap the ear phones do have a tendency to fall out at times. However I just pop them back in and it’s worth it to listen to my music on the go. Would recommend this produc
Enhanced my swim workouts
I love this little unit and listening to downloaded Spotify playlists (downloaded) while I swim. My mile time and enjoyment have increased dramatically since I started swimming with this device.
The lap tracker was finicky my first couple of swims, but once I found the proper placement, it works well. I also like that I can choose how often to hear my lap count and interval/total time.
It took me a couple of times in (and out, and back in) the pool to find the earbud tip style and size that work best for me – several styles and sizes to trial. Frustrating at first, but worth the effort to get the perfect fit for me.
The battery life is great when not connected to the internet, but I only connect when downloading new music, just make sure to fully charge the battery after downloading.
As far as the screen size – it is small, but I would rather have that than a larger unit. The stylus included works well, but I either manage with my finger (carefully) or use the iPhone version of the remote connect app.
As for starting the lap tracker and music before a swim, fingers work fine.
I have not needed to contact Tech support directly, but did utilize the YouTube videos available online for a quick overview.

I really like this device. I attach it to my goggles and tuck the headphone wires into my goggle straps like the instructions say and it works great! I’ve only used this for a couple weeks but I really like thatI can listen to audiobooks on Audible. I do wish they would offer more applications to download, like Libby so I can listen to library books, but this is great for now. I haven’t enabled music yet, that’s my next step. I really want to enable Spotify, but I can’t get past the screen where it asks me if I want to try a free trial. The “No Thanks” option is too far down and it keeps thinking I selected the “Take me to Free Trial.” Super annoying (please FIX THIS). The stylus they give works ok, the screen is super small, so the initial set up is a little bit of a pain.
Definitely use airplane mode unless you’re uploading stuff. Definitely dry the thing out before charging (minimum of 4 hours, which the instructions and device itself warn you about).
2 stars for touch screen because I can’t use Spotify right now and it’s due to that darn screen.
Update 3/23/21: Definitely use the Delphin Remote App for your iPhone or Android phone. It makes it so much easier to manage your applications! (Yes, instructions for downloading the app are included in the device instructions and online.)
I bought this a little while ago now. Been used daily for swimming, listening to Audible books (audible.co.uk). Contrary to some reports on here, it works perfectly with UK Audible. Don’t be put off! It has replaced a dead waterproof iPod Shuffle (7 years old or thereabouts – so didn’t owe me anything!).
Yes the screen is small and initial set up takes a few minutes of your time. But there is a good screen mirroring app for your phone if you have big clumsy fingers! Headphones are excellent. Altogether very happy with my purchase.
UPDATE: After 6 months of daily use the headphones developed a problem with one earpiece going dead. These things happen sometimes, but how a company responds when they do, tells you a lot. So messaged Underwater Audio who immediately and without and quibble, dispatched replacement headphones. So kudos to them for fantastic customer support, as well as a great product. Definite 5 stars from me.
I have tried many options for listening to podcasts, books and music in the pool and for me this is the best. I bought this three months ago and I haven't had any issues in the pool. Even the earbuds that came with it ended up being my favorite after trying many swimming options. I have left mine running for a couple hours at a time and have never gotten low in battery. If there is a downside, it is an obvious one - remember it is a MINI tablet. It is small and easy to hit the wrong spot on the tiny screen and tough for someone like me who doesn't take my glasses into the pool area. There is an app that can allow you to mirror the screen on your phone to make it easier to select playlists and books to download but the app did not download successfully on any of my devices and support was not able to help me. Still, if I am careful to download what I need in the morning and remember to charge it, I know I am going to have a fun, uninterrupted swim for as long as I choose. It probably isn't ideal for someone who is going to constantly be toggling through different playlists.

Great function with poor user interface and mediocre battery
I got these specifically so I could listen to audio books and my music playlists. The regular players that just download an MP# can’t manage this. In terms of books and music play back, the sound works great for me, and the earbuds stay fixed well once I realized I needed to tuck the head inside the auricle/pinna of the ear.
The downside of these come from the battery and the user interface. For the battery, you’ll want to make sure your charging almost every time because one miss or leaving it on accidentally means no music the next day.
For the user interface, it’s clearly an Android UI that got modified for this form factor. Often times interface items overlap, or are hard to access. For instance, now playing blocks the list of other books in audible leaving a tiny set of pixels available to use. Don’t expect this to be designed like the Apple Watch or other devices that planned on this specific form factor. If the UI or product lead ever want to discuss, let me know.
Still, I love having my music and books now and there aren’t really alternatives. So I’d still recommend this if that’s what you want. It’s certainly added to my swimming experience.
I should have bought this a year ago, but I tried to get away with cheaper MP3 players in waterproof pouches. Eventually, water would get in and ruin the player. I probably spent more on attempts to find a cheaper alternative than just buying the Delphin. I am happy though. I can now swim and listen to Audible books without trying to convert them. The only reason my review is a 4 is because the first Delphin sent to me did not work properly. It would take several minutes to boot up and would randomly go back into reboot. Great customer service though. I returned it and the second one worked as advertised. Unfortunately, one side of the swim buds no longer works. I've only had it for a month. I had some other waterproof ear buds that worked as a replacement. Other than that, I am happy and would recommend anyone wanting to listen to Audible while swimming. They could also work on the remote app a bit. Not very easy to use, but manageable. Overall, very pleased. Just remember to turn the screen off to conserve battery.

Have been trying to use MP3 headphones for years which weren’t great. This worked perfectly, downloads tracks on Spotify so no skips and comes with the best headphones for the job – whole swim totally uninterrupted playback. Perfect.
I can’t rate this highly enough. I bought this to help with the boredom of pool training for a 10k swim. The screen is not useable once your hands are wet but the buttons work perfectly well for adjusting volume and skipping tracks. It took a few tries to find the right headphones for me to stop the water getting in, but these came with plenty of different buds to try. And my one interaction with the customer service dept was faultless.
First off, the Delphin is tough to activate because of the micro tiny screen. They tout a quick setup but that did not work for me. On to plan B – if you don’t have 20/20 vision don’t even play around – get out a magnifying glass. I’m serious. I was fortunate to have purchased another tablet when they still included a Bluetooth keyboard. Apparently, that got dropped. Without it, it would have been impossible for ME to type in the commands on the 1 14 inch screen. The letters themselves are probably around 1/16 of an inch! Soooo tough on the peepers and shaky fingers. The Delphin is also way expensive. At least two and a half bills! Owie!! What makes this company worth the hassle is their customer service. Twice, Andrew, stayed on the phone with me for an hour till I finally got it right. And man the dude is Mr. Chill. Props to them. Once in the water, I find the quality of the music better than the iPod Shuffle dealio. BIGGEST PLUS – When you get right with the Delphin, (and the learning curve does take a minute grasshopper), you can download Spotify playlists, (or whatever app you use), from your PC or phone. This basically gives you unlimited music storage. Turn em on. Turn em off. You’re good. One other tip hammerheads – Delphin includes a great storage case. Looks like a small puck. Poke a couple holes in the thing (it’s hard rubber). The case is so good it retains water and without some kind or air flow the device never dries between swims… a week?… two? This is key because company puts the Kibosh on charging a wet device. Bottom line – no doubt about it, once the music starts mackin, the sticker shock fades, the energy bumps and the strokin gets funner.
Great device for listening to music while swimming.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. Excellent to use for Spotify. Setup a little fiddly due to small screen but easy to use once wifi has been setup and playlists have been downloaded (and I just change the playlists on another device for convenience).
Fidgety but worth the time and money!
The screen is a little fidgety be prepared to spend some time setting it up if you arent a techie! Once its charged and set up it’s the best underwater device around , I have used a few and this is without a doubt the best one , money well spent and the charge lasts as well if you’re like me and forget to charge things regularly!
Customer support was excellent, quick to respond and replaced my first Delphin without any issues when there was a problem with the battery.
Pros:
Works well when swimming
A good range of ear pieces to find a good fit
Comes with a bluetooth keyboard
Stays stable and unnoticeable on swim goggle strap when swimming
Cons:
Setup is very fiddly (the screen is tiny but the keyboard and app help)
The battery is very sensitive to overcharging and no built-in charging management / protection
Battery discharges quickly (recommended to switch to airplane mode when not downloading)
The volume needs to be high when swimming especially when listening to the spoken word (Eg podcast, audio book) to overcome background sounds of swimming
Cannot recharge for 4 hours after immersion in water
Android only (some might see this as a Pro)
Overall it is a good solution for swimming with audio if you can live with the quirks.
Perfect for the avid swimme
Best waterproof player yet and I’ve bought them all…..sound quality…check, robustness….check, now if only I can find a robust set of earphones….
Goid listening to music on spotify whilst swimming
I brought this for swimming as I get bored after 20 mins in pool. This seemed to be the only item on the market where you can run spotify. I ended up being in the pool for over an hour as I was quite entertained. I wish however the sound could go louder and it’s way overpriced for what it is. Head phones are slightly uncomfortable perhaps it’s just the pair that I use but the item comes with various ear fittings and sizes.
Good product works with Spotify, Bad sound.
The product works very good. I love having Spotify offline in the pool. But I’m considering buying other headphones because the sound in these headphones is terrible.
*** Updated 8/21/19. Have to update this again. Going strong and almost a year old. Not only that, their support is fantastic. I’ve had a few questions and they were answered and addressed personally within 48 hours. Wife and I are very happy with these. Maybe it is worth the cost?
** Updated 6/6/19, purchased 11/18. So far so good with this product. I’m talking about 5 hours a week swimming laps in a highly chlorinated pool at our gym. Battery life has been great, it basically lasts for 4 good swims before I recharge (take no chances). I’ve added a star because so far it’s lasted longer than anything else I’ve tried, including the iPod Shuffle. The problem with the iPod Shuffle is that they are all old and no longer in production. They also do not allow for any customization of sound, so with the headphones that come with this, sound like crap. DO NOT BUY and iPod Shuffle. Waste of money.
Additional Notes:
* Make sure to put into airplane mode and turn off wifi and bluetooth when not needed. This extends the battery life by a lot.
* Dark Player on the Amazon App store allows for great sound customization. I actually get the bass and highs that I like, along with volume amplification. Be forewarned the the license needs to update now and then, so you will need to have some sort of wifi handy in case the license warming pops up. Then just enable wifi and open the app. it will update and let you continue.
* The headphone jack is starting to get a little sloppy and the headphones unplug easier and easier. this is my concern, that since the headphone jack is also the charger, the constant plug and unplugs into that hack will wear it out, turning this into an expensive paperweight or bluetooth mp3 player.
*That screen is still freaking terrible. I have to get a magnifying glass or reading glasses to work with.
* Previous Review:
Ok, then why did I purchase this? because the other options currently available are utter crap. I’ve gone through the cheaper ones and they don’t work well, fail too quickly. Unfortunately this is a newer product, so we will have to see what I think a few months down the road. I’ll add a star if I can go 3 months without a problem.
Don’t use the built in music player, it sucks. Go on the Amazon App store and get Dark Music.
Pros:
Excellent battery life. By my estimates will get probably 8 hours per charge.
Decent storage
Very light, don’t even feel it on
Very good sound quality when I use the equalizer in Dark Music player
Headphones sound good
Ear Buds that came on the unit are excellent, do not leak, at all
A lot of options since it is running android
Decent display (but read the con)
Cons:
Teeny Tiny display. Almost impossible to use with fingers for entering in data.
Extremely over priced for a device like this. Should sell for under 100, easy.
Built in music app is worthless, doesn’t even shuffle.
Unknown product quality, it is too new to judge.
Summary:
Do I like this product, yes. I just wish some competition would pop up so that prices would get adjusted properly. This is crazy, insane high. But what are we to do?
Never written a review for anything but this is worth it. Makes a fantastic noise and clips to the back of your goggles easily. Screen is a tab fiddly but thats to be expected for something so small. The fact you can download spotify and keep updating your playlists puts it head and shoulders above all other ‘static’ underwater MP3 players seeing as no one actually buys music anymore. The headphones and bud choices that come with it are great and I actually found myself losing track of lengths due to listening to the music. Top product!!
As an underwater listening device, this is a 5 star product. Great sound quality and love downloading Pandora Channels/playlists as well as Audible, etc.
As a lap counter, it is a 1 star. I have spoke with the help desk numerous times. They tell me it has to be placed perfectly in the back of my head to be accurate. It is so picky, “center” can. It be achieved poolside and must be perfectly positioned in the locker room with a mirror. At best, it now accurately counts my laps 50% of the time. Therefore making it unreliable. Usually just stops counting for about 500 yards and then restarts at some point. The Delphin would be SO SO great if it only worked consistently. Still hoping they will update it and fix the reliability and finickines.
Update: Customer service is excellent. Latest update made the accuracy of the lap counter alot better! At the end of a 3000yd swim, I was only off by 100-200 yds. I really like that it tracks no matter what kind of drills that I do.
