Very sturdy and for me at least a very quiet stepper.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI have been using this stepper for 3 months now and I must say I am impressed.

I walk on it for 1 hour almost everyday and its working so fine.

It makes a little noise when you walk on it,but that’s no problem for me because I live on a lower floor.

If you want a low impact cardio exercise, please buy it .

    A MUST HAVE- EXCELLENT

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersLooking at other reviews, I was a bit unsure as to whether to buy this or not but I’m so pleased I did. Great little sturdy machine, easy to use and easy to assemble. The steps probably don’t go quite as high as I hoped but it’s still a good little workout. Reason for only 4 stars instead of 5 is that the stopper on one side keeps coming off but it’s not a problem cos it easily goes back o

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHave been using this for over a year now. Since its just located next to my bed, I use it for my morning work out. Just wake up, get some water, and start stepping on it. Must have for my daily routine now.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersCouldn’t afford a cross trainer so I thought I’d try a stepper. It’s small yet sturdy and at the foot of my bed so I jump on whenever I get time. Normally five or ten minutes before work and five or ten minutes after work. I love it! Suits my needs and I’ll keep stepping all through winter to keep warm, as I’m not the only one who can’t afford heating the house!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve gone through a few step machines in my time and this is by far the sturdiest I’ve ever had. Best of all, it doesn’t make any squeaks. Sadly, the timer and calorie counter has stopped working but that has been the case with every piece of exercise equipment I’ve ever owned, so nothing new there. Really quiet machine, the resistance bands are great too. Highly recommend!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJust used this machine and although not much resistance I did work up a slight sweat making sure I stood near the end and doing it really fast.
I will see if there’s any noticeable change but the price definitely reflects the quality.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersReally like this machine, it helps me to get my steps in whilst at home and with the resistance straps I feel like I’m getting a much better workout than simply walking on the spot.
I’ve taken a star off because the stepper is quite clicky/makes clunky noises with every step, so I have to take myself off to a different room to use it otherwise others can’t hear the TV etc. Also, it is rather heavy for its size so be aware of this if you want to move if from room to room frequently. Otherwise, really pleased with my purchase!

Like everything about this and still using it…It was good value for money…I took a chance on this coz I the one I had for 15 years finally gave up the ghost and broke..I could no longer get the same one so I took a chance on this as it was the most similar and I did get it on sale at the time…knowing what I know now though I would buy it at full price…would reccomend

What can you say?! It’s a relatively cheap little piece of exercise equipment! Seems sturdy enough, offers a lateral stepping motion. I use it 4-5 days a week with a flattened cardboard box underneath (had a very similar product before that leaked hydraulic fluid over my beige carpet!). My only criticism is that although you can adjust the step height it lasts for a few steps before almost reverting to a standard setting. I’m 5ft 9″ and just over 9 stone so it’s not as if the stepper is under tremendous strain! I will be happy enough to use it until I kill it in conjunction with my exercise bike – it’s a handy addition!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI got this stepper for lockdown 3.0, I wanted a cross trainer but I knew the cheap ones would be horrible to use and hard to move around.

After reading reviews saying the monitor does not work. It’s does but you have to follow the few steps of set up in the manual before it will work. Once you have set it up it will count the calories etc…

So far I have been finding this great to get some extra steps in. It does work up a sweat and it you squat a little while using it you’ll really work up a sweat and feel a burn in your bum.

I find the resistance bands rubbish, they are loose and clinck a lot. I have been using hand weights which are far more comfortable!

I find I can’t use this consistently for a whole hour. I use it (at the moment) in 15/20 min burst.

It is a bit noisy, sounds like you are blowing up a balloon with a pump when you use it. But even the equipment at the gym makes a noise. Just the music and headphones drowns it out.

All in all, a great product for getting a sweat on and adding steps to my day.
If I keep using this regularly, maybe I’ll upgrade to a more expensive piece of equipment.

Compact and works up a sweat. Great price for lockdown 3.0

Product arrived undamaged but one of the plastic bags which contained pieces and instructions for the stepper was tied (as if it had been previously opened/ripped open). This was a bit of a red flag. Also, the product is quite noisy even in carpet so it was a bit annoying to use. Only used a couple of times before I changed to doing yoga as it was too annoying to keep using. Of course, now the time has passed and I can’t return so.. not sure what to do.

Fairly good product, given its price tag. The bands can easily be taken off or added, depending on the need. Pretty quiet to use, obviously there’s a small amount of noise, but shouldn’t disturb people in other rooms, or neighbours. Slight down side was that it did not come supplies with a battery.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOrdered this for lockdown exercise and paid 46 for it. You can get cheaper at Argos but mine from there broke a year in so this seemed a decent product from what the reviews said.
I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised. It’s a LOT better than I was expecting from some of the negative reviews I had read.

It is sturdy, easy enough to move about as it’s not too heavy. The added straps for the upper body exercises are brilliant and it comes with a booklet to tell you how to use them and which parts to exercises with them.
It’s an up and down type of stepper but does slightly swing outwards which is absolutely brilliant for the booty and outer thigh. I tried the stepper on the first day for 10 mins to get a feel for it and my thighs and boots were like jelly the next day!!!
I understand from the reviews some people have had faults but that does happen with all things sometimes but I am very happy with this product and definitely recommend!!! Fab purchase!!

Golden Review Award: 47 From Our UsersGreat product and works well even though I’m heavier than the maximum weight according to the description (how are people over 100kg supposed to lose weight if all sports equipment is only rated up to 100kg?!). I use this stepper with my sit-stand desk in my home office to make my desk job slightly less sedentary and it does the trick nicely. It’s small enough to be moved off to one side when not in use – even in my tiny office – and it stands up on its end nicely. It looses one star for the combination of (a) only being rated up to 100kg which is ridiculous for any piece of exercise equipment in a world where we’re increasingly worried about the rise in obesity and (b) the fact that it has quite a loud squeak and it’s not very clear where that’s coming from so it’s tough to work out where to apply lubricant.

Great little piece of exercise kit, perfect for small living spaces. There’s a knob for adjusting the resistance of the steps so you can get it just right and the counter seems to work perfectly well.

It is however loud! It bangs on each step and if you don’t step down properly it doesn’t count your steps so you end up kind of stomping a lot. The resistance cords, although a great idea, are attached with metal clips which clack so loudly when you use them. We live in a flat with downstairs neighbours so all this noise is less than ideal.

Still love it and use it, but won’t be doing any late night exercising that’s for sure.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersOk, well this is a tale of two halves. This is a great product, but it has its flaws. That said, guys it’s 40, at least 2 maybe 3 margins are built into that cost, it’s not going to be the quality of a prestige car.
It goes up and down, it does I guess what it says it should do, but yes, it leaks grease, the pistons aren’t the best quality, as they get hot through use, the grease softens and leaks from poor quality seals, stick it in an old towel it’s fine, just deal with it or join David Lloyd.

Occasionally the steel rope pulley jumps it’s groove, it’s a pain in the backside to put it back, but it does go. Just don’t operate it with both pedals on same plane and it will be fine.

As a plus point, and I’m not joking here, my girlfriend uses it daily, every day for at least 1 hour ! and has done for a year, we worked out its done around 4million steps, yep, that’s correct, 4 million.

It is what it is, but is it worth 40, absolutely, go for it, just don’t be so hard in something that’s not actually designed for what we’ve put it through. After 4 million steps, today it gave up the fight and she broke the pulley tensioner. It sheared clean off.

Will I complain, nope, it’s done more than it was designed for.

Good product, don’t be too hard on it for what it is 🙂

Great value and as others have said it has a very sturdy and good quality feel. The stepping motion feels very smooth. It has a digital display which switches on automatically when you start stepping, with a timer and a step counter along with a calorie counter which I imagine is inaccurate (as it doesn’t take into account weight etc) but is still good for comparison between workouts. It is small enough to put away when not being used but I like to leave it out in the living room most of the time to guilt myself into using it while I’m watching TV. This is the kind of thing you can use for a long time or little and often and either way it’s a good step forward for me (pun unintended). Although I bought this for myself my husband has been using it too and loves it.

One thing I’m surprised nobody else has mentioned though is the resistance, which seems a little odd to me. It is extremely high when I start, and I really struggle to push the pedals down (I’m not sure if this is made worse by the fact I’m very short so don’t weigh a huge amount). But once I’ve been going a while it seems to loosen up (maybe as the hydraulic fluid warms up, I’m not quite sure how it works) and I can then step more briskly. The result of this is that the first part of the workout feels more like it’s working my thigh muscles but not getting my heart rate going (I’m just moving too slowly), and it takes a while to get to the point where I’m moving fast enough to start getting more or an aerobic workout. I would recommend taking smaller, faster steps while it’s “loosening up” rather than trying to push the pedals right down, as this seems to work better for me. Or in my case I wait until my husband has done a few hundred steps and then take my turn, by which point it is all warmed up and I can zoom along 🙂

Overall I would recommend this stepper and I think it’s good quality and good value.

Was delivered about 40 minutes ago, so was eager to give this bad boy a go.

Packaging was pretty good. 30 seconds later and got it out of the box. I was expecting to have to do some assembly, but happily no. It was “fully formed” out of the box! The only thing that was needed was to detach the black display plastic unit at the top to fit the battery (supplied with the manual) . Also with the manual was an Alan key for some reason… haven’t worked out why yet.

After the battery was fitted, the display came alive, and was pretty intuitive on how to cycle through the various settings.

So I popped onto it for the past 15 minutes before cooling down to write this. Took me a few minutes to get my balance, but after the inner fluids inside my ears worked out what was going on, it was pretty easy to get going. The resistance was tough, but I put that down to my relatively unfit body. I’m assuming that it will get easier over time, and as I get used to it.

One thing that I will note, is that I am only 11 stone, so I’m assuming that I will not encounter issues that some others have faced with parts falling off which maybe due to the weight placed onto the machine. Time will tell I guess.

As I have said, was only a 15 minute tester.

Will update after a few days of regular use, this was just my cursory glance.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersDelivered a bit late, but was in no hurry.
Large significantly heavy box, contained the stepper – well packaged – plus a manual, allan key, and battery and in my case a detached rubber stopper. Allan key is of no used as there is no assembly – but giving my experience you might subsequently need it!.

Within 100 steps the C-ring washer popped out leaving the stepper un-usable. This washer stops a step from moving horizontally as you step down, one for the left and another for the right step, these are covered by a rubber stoppers – which is for cosmetic purposes only as the C-ring washer is the hard latch to prevent lateral movement.

Being an engineer I set about fixing the problem, only to realise that a special tool is required for re-assembly of the C-ring washer – they are not at all easy to re-fit. I am now in the process of ordering the tool (cheaper than sending the heavy item back).

Very disappointed I re-read the manual and here is a direct quote:-

    “WARNING!
Never try to stand on the appliance with your full weight body weight! This appliance is not constructed for this purpose.”

Needless to say this is exactly what I did – and I suspect many others would do – especially having watched that video of the lady doing exactly this!
I can’t imagine anyone operating this appliance whilst sitting down, as those pistons are very stiff when ‘cold’.

Frankly I believe I received a ‘returned product’, clues being the detached rubber stopper and some marks on the top of the step shoe., but that would be speculation on my part.

Overall the appliance does seem solid, but I do wonder about the use of C-rings to prevent lateral movement. Till I repair the appliance I would not advise anyone more than 92Kg – ~15 stone – to purchase this product as clearly it is going to be used standing up and the weight of the person will determine the pressure, and perhaps wear, on the C-rings.

    Felt good while it lasted!

    Updated: 12/09/15

Fixed the C-ring, turned out the other C-ring needed doing as well – clearly an oversight on assembly. However now that this has been done the Stepper works very well. Stepper is very handy for rainy days and can be stored quite conveniently. Not sure about the display – works fine but not much use when using the device – as I use an Egg-Timer. Found short periods of usage to be highly efficient workouts.

Changed Rating from 1 to 4 stars.

he stepper is quite portable, not too heavy but sturdy enough to make you feel confident when using it.
it is quite stiff to start with and you can’t alter the resistance but once you get going it offers a good workout. I started on 5 mins and have built up to 15 quite quickly. It works your whole leg and you can feel it above the knees and in the thighs and bum after a few minutes! heart rate soon speeds up despite only stepping at walking pace.
It sits in my lounge and I use it every day while watching Coronation Street or the News…it kills two birds with one stone!
it is also great for warming you up and means the heating can be turned down.
All in all a nice bit of equipment for a good price and easy to move and put away if you need to.
    very pleased.

In April, 2013, I paid 30.49 for this exact stepper on Amazon. I use the stepper every week and it works fine. I have never used the handle attachments and I think the calorie count is very generous so I take that with a pinch of salt. The tension seems very stiff for the first hour or so and then as the hydraulics are being worked over time each session, the tension becomes much more manageable – but I like this as it feels like a good workout. I never bother with manually adjusting the tension for each use. If you pull one of the steps upwards too high it may unhinge the tension wire which is a bit of a job putting back on, although this has happened to me at least three times – it’s also a messy job so make sure you put the stepper over newspaper or something to cover the floor (the oil stains).
The stepper used to make very weird noises every once in a while as if it were broken, however oiling the wire a few times has worked a treat, but again it’s messy and I would probably keep newspaper under the stepper for the next couple of uses – just incase. It does make your surroundings shake and I’ve always wished it wasn’t so noisy but it has lasted me well (noise cancelling ear-phones counteract this – for me. Everyone else just has to put up with it!) . I wouldn’t want to pay near 70 though!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAmazing piece of kit for anyone trying to get in shape. You can really “feel the burn” after using this for a while, the lateral movement really seems to make the workout more intense but the bands seem to actually turn a good workout into a great one. Great for toning your arms and back etc as well as your legs. For the price this is a compact and amazing piece of kit.

The only negative and the reason for removing a star is it can be VERY loud, the bumping of the bumper on the back of the machine can be very loud and the machine also has a tendency to squeak right out of the box. Be careful not to annoy neighbours when using this thing!

  27. Troy Christian says:

It’s very noisy and lubricating it didn’t work. If you can get by the loud squeeking you’ll find this is a really good machine. My digital information box works fine. I had a Lateral Thigh Trainer which I found broken when pulling it out after a few unused for years. This was to replace it and the results are good. I do 10-mins 5 days a week using light weights to do arm exercises along with it and this helps tone your tummy and back too as long as you work on the out breath. it comes to about 550 steps and I can see the muscle defination in my legs and buttocks. Its a good price (40), and someone else who reviewed this item said that’s a months gym membership so even if it only lasts a month its worth it. I have had it about that and its still working away, squeeking and groaning, but working!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m reviewing this product on behalf of my wife.

My wife has had long term illness and on the road to recovery. Her doctor told her to do some exercise such as swimming or walking. Swimming was a no-go for her, so walking was the option. Due to dark nights and british weather, I decided to get this stepper for her.
She thinks its great exercise device, and easy to use and carry.. She does half hour each day and increases the resistance by turning a knob slightly. She sometimes uses the arm resistance bands, but only when she feels like it.
I had a go, and think its a great small device for exercising without the need for larger machines blocking the room up. Place it in front of the tv whilst exercising, like the wife does, and you’ll soon forget that your doing a small work out.

Stepper arrived quickly and has been in use for a couple of weeks now. It suits my purposes just fine, but all of the comments about it heating up if used for lengthy periods of time, not being suitable for heavy people etc. are probably correct. Also, if you’re not the best at balance, you will want to place it near a surface that you can use to steady yourself e.g. I use mine in front of the fireplace so that I can hold on to the mantelpiece (also so that I can prop my iPad up on it to watch movies while I step!).
I weigh between 70 and 75 kg and I’d say that this would be unlikely to be suitable for anyone much heavier as the resistance drops as the hydraulic fluid heats up and would be far too “soft” for someone heavier. I’ve not had any problems with leaks reported by others and I do like the small neat shape of the stepper which means that it is easy to slide under the sofa when not in use. In the sort of application that I use it for (making up my 10,000 steps when I’ve been lazy during the day) it’s fine … a heavy piece of gym kit, it is not.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersTo keep this simple, its a great product. The handles DONT come off as they have a screw system once attached that only a fool would miss so no idea why others are moaning about this. It squeaks like mad but can be cured by WD40 however too much may ruin the hydraulic system which looks to have happened with mine, the screws have also come loose and the computer is not working but in 4 months i have hammered it. I may have to buy a new one but it will still be cheaper than a months gym membership so i am still on top. I may be able to recover this one with maintenance and reconecting the computer cable which is why its not working but all the bad comments are generally fixable if you have sense. On a work out side iv loved what it has added to my health routeen and because of the low impact its all the good without putting yourself in hospital like running on concrete. I would recommend.

lemme just explain something first, I was born with club feet (both feet broken at birth) I had surgery and everything was fine, until I hit 18, slowly my ankles started playing up, at age 25 I have special ankle supports and a wheelchair sentence in the near future, because of my ankles I cannot go for a run, or do any heavy exercise, obviously this means I have gained abit of weight, I refuse to go into a wheel chair overweight!, so I bought this item as I thought its just walking, but with tension control, even though it never said it was safe, I didnt consult a doctor (end of the day if it messes with my ankles ill just sell it on! whats the worse that can happen? when im already facing the worst so meh!) I used it for 30 mins yesterday and not once did I get any pain in my ankles, I guess because there not dealing with the same amount of impact as running, so if you have any issues like me I do recommend this product! ofcourse im young and stupid so do speak to your doctor first! oh and when reading the manual dont overlook the warm up exercises thinking “ah its just walking” my left hamstring feels like its made of cement today! haha 🙂

I probably shouldn’t be writing a review so quickly but have given it 5 stars as it looks very sturdy and cheaply priced. Everything is working so far, ie the counter, no squeaks, and I received a manual in English which I believe some reviewers did not have. I thought it was going to be a piece of cake but after only 7 minutes my legs were killing me and I had to take a break. To relieve the monotony I am stepping to some old Bollywood tracks as I could not concentrate on using a laptop at the same time as someone else says they are able to do!!

What I cannot get to grips with is that the manual says on page 10 under “Posture” “when you perform even steps, the pedal arm stopper should not touch the base frame”. How on earth can you judge a step without touching the base frame. I am wobbling about on it as it is and much as I try, seem to touch the base a fair bit. Tightening the tension a little did help slightly. If anyone has any tips, I would appreciate it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis stepper is the most evil piece of gym equipment out there, either that or I am a wimp. I started off thinking it would be a doddle, and managed three minutes, with three stops. This thing BURNS!! I have turned the resistance down and it still burns, yeah ok I’m a wimp. My instructions were in English as well as just about every other language known to man, but the hooks that attach the bands to the stepper were rusty. They did work ok though. Not a company I would say are fastidious about their products reaching the customer in tip top shape, but mine works fine, all-be-it with me a little rusty as well as the hooks!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI only received it a couple of days ago but from what I see it looks very well made and appears solid. It also feels very smooth in use. I bought it as a daily exercise for a tendon injury so I was happy to find the tension is just right, not too much resistance but certainly not sloppy. It works right out of the box and my only criticism of the stepper itself is that the display doesn’t remember your settings. No big deal as it’s only a couple of button presses but still, a bit annoying.

The instructions, however, are bizarre. One line states “WARNING! Never try to stand on the appliance with your full body weight! The appliance is not constructed for this purpose.” Well actually… it is, how else would you use it?

In the supplied booklet it also says you should increase the duration of your sessions to 30 minutes and if you want to burn fat, use 30 minutes as a minimum for each session. Which sounds fine apart from a sticker on the actual stepper states “WARNING: For safety and for the wellbeing of your product, do NOT keep exercising on this product for over 15 minutes.” So which is it?

So to sum up, the stepper looks and works fine but unless you want to use the stepper without standing on it, or exercise for over 30 minutes but at the same time less than 15, I’d ignore the instructions and just use it.
