A very solid and durable product, I recommend it to anyone who is looking for something decent to secure their bike.

Heavy duty bike security. So far so good. Locking it to things that don’t move is the way to go.
Low life with Cordless grinders are still out there ! Location, location, location still maters

Great product for bike security. These are expensive but compared to other products this is decent value. I feel like d locks are overpriced but that’s the market. This is the most secure which is why we went for it as we recently purchased an electric bike and need to keep it locked up around town. So far no issues at all. I think this lock would put off your everyday thief as it’s so strong.

Feels like a tough bit of kit but loses a star as the plastic outer casing on the horizontal locking mechanism fell off after I dropped it accidentally from 3 feet. Managed to put it back after a faff and lock still works but was surprised all the same. Smooth locking mechanism and easy to use. Can’t comment on how effective a deterrent it will be but seems very sturdy. Used in combination with a beefy Kryptonite 12mm chain lock plus Kryptonite cables.

This is a pretty beastly lock and has the weight to go with it. This is the biggest you can go without going to full motorcycle style lock. The pick resistance on this is almost certainly enough to counter opportunists, I think you’re more likely to see the fence or pole you’re attached to gone than you are the lock compromised.

It’s heavy Yes . . . Mine is the smaller Maximum Internal Width is 110mm Maximum Internal Length is 225/230mm
Shackle width about 175mm & about 50mm long Plus Key handle length if it’s that tight !
I’ve tried others but using ABUS is reassuring . . . The lock feels solid as does the Key & Mechanism.
I use it round the Fork Arm with a Cable wound round the Front Wheel & Frame . . . Another ABUS Chain locks the Frame, and Rear Wheel to the Street Furniture . . . Nothing will stop the inevitable but I hope they look, think about it and move on ! That to me is problem solved !

Bought this after research and a youtube video that was real in-depth and praising this lock among others.

So far so good. Lock is really sturdy, I love the rubber protection around everywhere, not too heavy, and the mounting on the bike is really ingenious. I was able to mount it on the side of the rear wheel and it works great there

On my motorbike I use an abus granit disc lock and this Abus D lock together on the front wheel and it’s extra precaution. It’s a great D lock with very good ratings. A 16mm pragmasis chain and round lock to a ground anchor for the rear. Everything helps. At this price it’s a bargain.

Solid lock. It looks sturdy and is likely to discourage criminals. It fixes to the bike relatively well. The lock is fairly heavy, but that’s the price of a good lock.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis D-lock is well-designed. Shackle and crossbar click together and the whole lock clicks into place on the holder supplied with it, which is easily mounted on a cycle-frame. In common with other locks offering the same degree of security, it is rather heavy; a lightweight lock which resists bolt-croppers and angle-grinders has, I suppose, yet to be invented.

A good, if heavy, D-Lock from Abus. The keyway is partially protected from picking attacks and the shape of the bar is meant to resist leverage attacks. I don’t know about the resistance to filing or angle-grinding; which is probably the most popular way of getting into one of these. The bar is not that thick but it is hardened.

I bought this lock as I leave my bike in the street in London. The rubber coating is good to not only protect the bike but also reduces the noise when using it.
The lock is fairly heavy and quite long which limited the areas I could attach it for storage on the frame, however this is an acceptable trade-off for such a sturdy and versatile lock.

It’s difficult to review a lock that will hopefully never be put to test for the features it boasts. However, the lock seems very well made with good materials, the locking mechanism is positive and easy to use. The lock has a rubbery type covering that prevents it from “clanging” on your bike and rocking the paint job. It comes with a couple of keys; one with a light, the other is a nice compact size.
I haven’t used the lock carrier to attach the lock to the frame so unable to offer any comments on it.
According to some reputable cycling magazines it is one of the best locks on the market.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe lock is quite sturdy and feels very safe. It still locks and unlocks very smoothly with the key after almost a year of use (I’ve owned other D locks which became increasingly difficult to open with time – not the case for this one).

The only negative thing is that it rattles a bit in its case, making some noise while I’m cycling. I still haven’t figured out how to solve this problem.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersIf I had bought the longest one it would have been possible to lock the back tire and the main frame to a bike rack.
The length may be a nuisance, however, if the frame isn’t big enough for attaching it there.
I really enjoy the attachable arm for the lock. It’s not in the way whilst cycling, and I don’t need to think about space for storing it whilst cycling.
Other than that, my bike has not been stolen so far.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThe locking mechanism is really easy to use, the key slot is really easy to use,the length of the lock is slightly longer than a ordinary D-lock and is heavy but not too heavy not to carry around in a backpack,(better than using a really heavy chain). It has been rated a gold standard security lock, Its reassuringly good quality as it feels really sturdy, I can’t recommend this D-lock enough,I’m so happy I got this!!!. If I got another one I would get the longer one in the same model as you may need a longer reach to get through a frame and back wheel together, as my bike has wide/thick frame at rear. Awesome lock and happy to recomend this.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI read a lot of reviews before getting this one for my mountain bike.
I am very happy with it so far: easy to install on the bike, easy to use, and comes with two keys and a registration card.
The price on amazon is really good too compared to the high street shops

It’s large enough to go around most poles.
I have had it since the summer, now we’ll see how it withstands the winter.

Reasonably easy to use and gives you confidence as it certainly gives the impression of being strong and reliable. Only down side is the weight. Heavy! But I suppose that is inevitable.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersSolid as a rock.
Mounts to the bike in a lot of configurations allowing me to find one that didn’t impact riding and allowed me to keep my bottle cages on.
Opens and closes easily. Easy to click on and off the mount.
I have had 3 bikes stolen in the 5 years I have lived in this city, my current bike is the most expensive I have ever owned and so far the lock has prevented any thefts (approx 6 months).

If my bike is stolen I will update this review to give details.

As this this item has been covered by many others, its simple, buy this lock or be prepared to buy a new bike later, also use a wheel and saddle cables with this lock for more security and peace of mind.

Looks well made nice and heavy duty will be using it to secure 2 expensive electric bikes together.
I hope it does the job and protects the bike’s. It is hard to tell how strong it is but will be using with a heavy duty motorbike chain and 2 LiteLok Gold Locks as extra backup to slow thieves down, and hopefully make them look elsewhere.

Very solid lock – heavy duty and feels very secure. I particularly like the cleaver mounting system which locks into the frame mount and doesn’t vibrate around when riding. Expensive, but worth it.

Looks sturdy and is definitely heavy. I hope it does the job and protects the bike. It is hard to tell how strong they are as having paid a lot of money for it, I don’t want to test it by hammering it 🙂

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersExcellent fixing to the bike which is very secure which makes taking the lock on and off the bracket easy. Long enough to fit through a thick railing and the bike mid post and rear wheel. Anything smaller and I would only be able to lock the frame. Good security reviews on the web. Nothing will prevent your bike being stolen by a deturmined thief but this would need an angle grinder to take out and as they say “You don’t have to run faster than the bear, just the person you’re with”.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter much investigation I decided to purchase this D lock because of its gold standard security and light weight. I’m not disappointed – its a heavy duty lock (that isn’t particularly heavy) that cant be picked, drilled, twisted or cut with bold cutters. I purchased it with the EazyKF bracket which looks easy to fit but really sturdy. I’m really happy with this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersRobust lock for my pride & joy – expensive carbon bikes need to be securely locked in the home and whilst out on expeditions – after doing my homework this lock seemed lock a good option. Rated highly for security and strength, fairly heavy but it needs to be to prevent bolt cutting criminals from having their wicked way! A good robust lock!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersThis lock is the most expensive for a reason!
Having looked at the equivalent locks from Kryptonite and On Guard, it was an easy decision.
I love the fact that the bike mount for the lock/frame is also integrated into the lock.
This makes everything more secure, stronger and prevents movement when cycling.

Big, hard, sturdy, but the lock is also good.

Jokes aside, this is it, THE bike lock, that is, this is/should be, the standard here.
Solidly built, its heavy practical and it take a beating, paired with a cable, it’s a confident lock.

There’s a bike mount too extending the usefulness.
Very recommended, no, this is the minimum one should have.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought this lock as my research showed it offers a higher level of security compared to many of the other brands. I teamed this up with the ABUS Cobra27391 12/180 Steel Cable Loop to lock the wheels also.
    Main plus points are:
It offers a very high level of protection
    It’s solid!
    Rubberised coating protects your paintwork.
Comes with a very effective quick-release clamp to store on your bike frame.
Doesn’t rattle as you are cycling along.
The key has an LED light to help you at night.

    Main downside is:
The price (75.72 at time of purchase)

If it wasn’t so expensive I would have given it 5 stars.

    Reassuringly solid but expensive

This is a hefty look and the U shank is not quite as long as my other Abus Granit lock. Top level sold secure lock, blue LED on key is useful even if white would be more useful.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI bought one of these after a lot of research. Feels very robust and well made. It’s not light but it’s lighter than comparable locks with the same or a lesser security rating. The bracket also feels robust, is a good secure fit on my bike, and allows the lock to be removed and secured with ease. The brackets provided with d locks seem to be a weak point, but not here, so it shows some attention to detail. Overall, I’m very happy with it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is a solid piece of kit! A thief would have to be seriously tooled up to defeat this lock. The bar shape means that it will not rotate if cut, so the thief would have to make two cuts. I suspect they would move on to easier pickings. The lock comes with good fixings to attach it to your bike.

As you would expect for a very secure lock, it is quite heavy, but lighter than others in it’s class due to the bar design.

The key has a LED light, which is a nice touch, but the keys are quite large to have in your pocket. The price you pay for security I guess. There is a plastic card with the key serial number on it. I suggest you photograph it onto cloud storage in case a replacement is needed further down the line. ABUS will supply additional locks for your key as well, which is useful.

Amazingly strong lock and so light too. Very well sized and I feel safe leaving this on my bike. The bracket to install it to the bike is easy to fit too. Very please.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThat is a reasonably sized d-lock with a rubberised coating to prevent it from scratching your bike’s paint work. It has gold Sold secure rating which is handy if your insurer is keen on such things. It comes with 2 keys and the main key has a small light to assist with using it at night. The weight is about ok for its size. My only quibble is the enclosed brackets which is fiddly and for me at least did not do the job. I ended up attaching the lock to my pannier rack and securing it in place with a bungee ball elastic band.
