3 Layers of foam with some additional pieces at the very bottom, the unit is as well made as the Peli equivalents, and I can’t tell the different with the foam inserts. The wheels are heavy duty and look like they will take a battering. Its great value for money.
Excellent product. Arrived on time and as described. Now no worry when transporting my camera equipment.
It rolls just fine, it has a retractable handle, and it definitely protects your belongings (lenses, in my case,, no pun intended).
I’m pretty sure I could throw this baby down the stairs, and it would be just fine. I suppose the only trouble could come from an unlucky hit of one of the wheels. Now I haven’t thrown it down any stairs, and so I can’t say for sure, but it sure feels extremely sturdy.
Some mixed reviews here. But I feel this product is far superior than people give it credit for.
2 cameras and 5 lenses
Bit snug but perfect for my needs.
Once bottom layer of foam was plucked to shape and size, I then mirrored this same with the top layer. Having some bits become weak I used a hot glue gun to reinforce the spaces and also glue the two layers of foam together.
As the system is bespoke to the layout you decide I knew gluing the two layers together was the perfect option. And it works a treat
1 x DSLR
1 x 35mm SLR
1 x 500mm lens
1 x 24-70mm lens
1 x 50mm lens
1 x 85mm lens
1 x 90mm lens
Easily as good as a Peli case at less than half the cost! Has x2 layers of foam internally so you can vary the depth of your cut outs easier. A really solid case!
I travel a fair bit for production work, and this is the perfect carry on case to protect my camera bodies & lenses.
Just what I needed without buying a similar one for twice the money
I wanted a case to store my laser equipment in, something sturdy and portable in case i needed to take it with me elsewhere.
I searched around for quite a while before deciding to purchase this Amazon Basic Large Case.
The case is a very decent size with 2 layers of pluck foam and a dense foam at the bottom of the case. It is made of hard plastic and is also waterproof for a short while. It has a pull up handle with a safety latch to lock it in place. It is a little bigger than a standard carry airline bag. The wheels seem tough and i imagine it can withstand some decent knocks!
It took me about an hour to design how i wanted the inside to look and then pluck the foam. It was actually quite therapeutic!
Overall this case is superb! Really good value when compared to other hard camera cases.
I highly recommend this case if you have high value equipment that you wish to keep as safe as possible.
I hope you found my review helpful
5/5: For the price, you cannot beat this case, everything fits snugly with the pick and pluck foam. There are two layers, I have a second set of batteries below my npfs, and plan to store more in this case.
The only issue (which is barely an issue) is that the handles rattle, it would be nice to be able to tighten them so they don’t rattle, but i’m grasping at straws for an issue!
Seems a pretty solid case with a tough plastic shell and robust latches with the option to padlock on each side. The rotary valve completely seals against pressure changes when in the aircraft hold etc.
There’s two layers of “pick’n’pluck” foam so you can adjust for items of different heights as well and length and width. I found in practice you can fine-tune the depth of recess in lower layer by cutting the removed blocks in half with a knife and replacing.
Removing blocks is easy enough, each layer is made of foam rectangles about 1cm on each side which are partly attached to four neighbours. By carefully pulling away and plucking out, recesses are formed to hold your kit. Items can protrude 1cm or so and all are pushed down by the ‘egg grade’ foam fixed under the lid.
NB There’s plenty of online video guides on how to use toothpicks to created outlines of items before starting to remove the foam blocks. Your definitely want to plan the layout of items before launching in, as there’s no easy way to replace foam blocks removed in error from the top layer.
The one downside is the case tips over very easily when placed upright due to the position of the hinges; a surprising oversight.
Great case, sturdy and half the cost of other branded cases. But why do they have to print ‘Amazon basics’ on the front of the case?! It really cheapens the look of it.
Better made than the “basics” name would suggest. Foam is not the best I’ve ever seen but OK when the price is considered. If your eyes water when you look at Peli prices then this case could be a good option.
I’ve bought it to store kit at home in one place rather than travel about with it but it would be handy to load up the car if you were going to cover a range of possibilities at a location. As it is quite plain, it doesn’t advertise “cameras”. The case appears sturdy and the latches snap shut with a satisfying “clunk”. It is quite heavy even before loading your camera gear.
This large size I’ve used for three mirror-less bodies. their battery grips plus 5 prime lenses. It might be able to take one body plus long, medium and short zooms but I’m going to order another for my zoom lenses. It comes with two foam inserts although I’ve only needed to use one, so keeping the other as a spare. Take your time peeling out the pre-cut sections and use two fingers to prise apart the cuts before carefully lifting out the sections.
Edit; The external mouldings mean the cases are stackable so you can put two together in the car boot and they will stay stacked (assuming you don’t corner like a F1 driver…). The foam is still intact after plenty of use but any “dust” issues can be solved by using lens bags or use camera insert bags instead of the foam.
I have a number of Pelican style cases, some original, some copies. This is well made and hinges and clamps seem solid. Time will tell but I reckon it’s up to the job.
I bought this to transport my PlayStation 5 digital edition.
I have to say it fits very snug, with just about enough room on the edges to put some of the padding.
I wanted a hard case for my expensive camera equipment but I didn’t want to pay 500 for a case .
I found the reviews on this one great so I bought one.
Such a beautiful case for your valuable items!
Amazon basic my *#@. This is an awesome product!
Buy it!
The foam is pre cutted so it’s easy to modify to your needs. Make sure about the layout because you cant put them back!
For the price this is amazing!
For similar protection it takes more room than a pelicase but it s much cheaper!
I’d love to have the exacte size of the central sticker to get my branding on it.
Bought this case to store/carry a detachable tow ball and electrical adapter for a Range Rover. Easy enough to cut the foam to fit and hold it all securely.
The tow ball is a very heavy lump of metal and this case is brilliant in keeping it safely stowed.
I attached this case to my bike
It’s great, safe, well made, solid and simple to open and close
For the money this is a great case. Does exactly what you would expect. Recomended.
Sturdiness
Very well made and seems very strong. Looks very nice as I’ve used to to keep camera equipment safe. Dose come with breakout foam in two layers that’s quite firm. I wish they would add a plastic tray between the two that would be a great idea but still a very good item
Value for money
Great value.. don’t get me wrong it’s not the cheapest but comparing to some of the high branded ones I have had this is great value
Travelling:
Can’t give you an honest answer. I get this as we was planning to travel overseas but due to someone in China getting peckish and deciding to eat a bat we ended up in lockdown cancelled two holidays (I don’t know why kfc was not good enough but)
Other than that a all round good item
For a basic product, it’s pretty good and I’m really surprised. For the price point, I don’t know anything better and am surprised and happy.
I use it as a camera case and will buy some more because it’s an ideal product. It’s such a simple concept: Make a tough case, ostensibly as good as more expensive cases, fill it with foam and do it cheaper than everyone else.
Does what I want – Nice bit of kit 🙂
AmazonBasics does it again…
After waiting an absolute age for the large cases to come back into stock; I didn’t hesitate to purchase one once they became available. And to be honest, I’m glad I waited as the build quality is more than acceptable for my requirements. In fact, I don’t think I could damage it if I tried!
With regards to size, there is more than enough room for the equipment I plan on taking on my adventures. I’m looking forward to see how the airlines treat it and how it withstands their abuse.
The ONLY thing I would like to look into in the future is either purchasing more pick-n-pluck inserts, or, look to have a bespoke insert produced for different internal layouts.
I’ve been looking at the branded versions of these for a while, so was really pleased when I saw that amazon had bought some to put their name on, and sell them cheaper. It’s identical to a peli case, just as strong, water resistant and has cable holes for locking.
I purchased this not for its intended purpose (camera equipment) but in order to take a basic set of tools on international flights.
In the past, I have checked in my toolbox as hold luggage (you can’t take tools in hand luggage), but on the last trip it arrived missing its handle, and the display of my multi meter was cracked, and having seen the way baggage handlers “care” for passengers bags, I decided I needed something with more padding.
I looked at peli cases but they’re horrendously expensive, this case is a much cheaper alternative, and hopefully it’s up to the task. I don’t need anything truly watertight, just sturdy and with a foam insert, but this case looks like it would be.
Pros:
Excellent value for money
Fairly light weight
Seems sturdy, not tested it long term though
Foam insert is of good quality
Label/name tag insert is well designed, can’t be removed unless case is opened
Cons:
Would prefer the padlock attachment point to be in the center, to fully secure the case you have to use two padlocks, which is a bit inconvenient. If you use a single padlock the case can be partially prised open on the other side, potentially contents could be exposed that way.
Not really a con, more of a personal preference, but i would’ve preferred the foam inside to be a single piece, so it can be cut with a stanley knife like other cases. I can see why amazon did this however as a lot of people wouldn’t be comfortable doing that, the pre-cut squares design is “tool-less”.
Holds my lenses but no instructions of how to pressurise or rather depressurise it’s contents.
I bought this case for when I travel abroad with my camera equipment with me!
I currently own a Canon 800D and a selection of lenses that I felt needed the extra protection when travelling around the world (which I do a few times per year)
This camera case is for people who have items they want to keep protected (like myself) while they travel or when they take from place to place. The case itself is relatively heavy and very durable. I have tried standing on this case myself (like another reviewer has mentioned) and it is very solid to say the least. The design of the case is very well thought through, it has been made from hard, black, durable plastic. With the only notable exception being the handle which is significantly softer that makes it very comfortable in the hand to carry about.
Moving onto the interior it include three plain layer of foam that are known (to the best of my knowledge) as pick n pluck foam. This allows you to customise the interior to best fit your equipment and how you wish it to be arranged inside the case. The top has waffle shaped foam so that it will easily fit around whatever you put in. Please note there is very little if not any movement from the case so if the equipment you put in is too tall etc the case will not accommodate this.
To close the case itself you use the two plastic latches and then you turn a dial to completely secure the case. Again to the best of my knowledge this is to make the case air tight and to secure it from the elements. The good thing about this case is the dial protects the contents in the case of the latches being opened accidentally. Great piece of mind knowing your equipment is safe in the case of this eventuality.
I would seriously consider this case if you are wanting a robust, strong case to protect your equipment. In my opinion this product stands up great to the selection of “storm cases” and other products offered by the likes of pelican. (Which I have also owned in the past). For me I wouldn’t consider using any other products as this really is second to none. Finally i think it is great knowing there is the options of small, medium and large size cases that all are built to the same high quality. Perfect for all and every kind of equipment.
Another great product from “amazonbasics” (nothing basic about this!)

Excellent case – used for Fuji X Pro 2 and two lenses
Fantastic better than I thought it would be I intend to get another one P S how do I get replacment internal foam pick & pluck for this case ??
I was looking for a watertight heavy-duty box for my lenses which can take pretty much any abuse possible when out and about.
I got it. this Amazon Hard case is well made, VERY strong/tough/thick Plastic, incredibly sturdy and has room enough for up to 8/9 lenses.
I stood my friend on it – he is 148kg – the box didn’t give in in any way. It didn’t even give any ”crunching” sound or a squeak.
Carrying handle, long handle for ”rolling along” are both strong.
It is clean and does not ”catch your eye”
It probably will outlast me – good for those whoch will inherite my cameras!
Great case. Plenty protection and a super click seal at a pinch of the price of the more expensive brands. Most definitely purchase this type of product again.
This camera case is for someone who has something they want to keep very secure. It is heavy and very robust but you could stand on it easily (I have tried this) and as far as I can see it is weatherproof, if not waterproof. It is not pretty but it has a certain rugged charm. It is made from hard, black, plastic except for a covering on the handle which makes it softer to carry, especially when it is heavy. It has little feet on its side when you put it down to open it and good sized ones on its base when it is stood up – this means that over all it is very stable.
Inside it comes with three plain foam layers which you can cut out and pile on top of one another depending on the dpth of what you are putting in the case. The top has waffle shaped foam so that it will easily fit around whatever you put in. Look at the dimensions carefully to make sure that you can get your camera in the space available because the case will not move at all.
You close the case with two plastic latches and then you turn a knob to secure it even further. The latches are fine to use but the knob is fiddly and the “open” and “close” instructions are in raised black plastic which you are never going to see in dim light (they are not easy even in bright light !). The latches open easily enough when the knob is in the right position and the whole thing is secure from accidental opening when it is closed.
If you want an exceedingly robust case for a small camera or a few lenses then this is definitely worth considering.
As of the time of writing I don’t know the cost of this case. I received it free from the Amazon Vine program.
The case is in the vane of Peli or SKB cases and this particular case is designed for small cameras. I know I’d get a dslr without a battery grip and at least on smallensuring. For me though I’ll log it with three flash guns and for this if seems perfect.
Open the two latches which are stiff and 8nside you’ll find go am inside the lid and a double layer of foam on the bottom. The lower foam is partially perforated to allow for easy shaping to accurately mimic the shape of your goods.
The handle seems really solid, there’s a gasket to help stop water getting in, though I haven’t tried that yet, and there’s a pressure release Vale on the outside.
Since I don’t intend going swimming with this case I’m sure it’ll handle all sorts of bad weather. Frankly, thiso case is impressive, I just wish I knew what it costs to evaluate value for money. Deducted quality star for that.
