    Perfec
3 Layers of foam with some additional pieces at the very bottom, the unit is as well made as the Peli equivalents, and I can’t tell the different with the foam inserts. The wheels are heavy duty and look like they will take a battering. Its great value for money.

    Sturdy as hell
It rolls just fine, it has a retractable handle, and it definitely protects your belongings (lenses, in my case,, no pun intended).
I’m pretty sure I could throw this baby down the stairs, and it would be just fine. I suppose the only trouble could come from an unlucky hit of one of the wheels. Now I haven’t thrown it down any stairs, and so I can’t say for sure, but it sure feels extremely sturdy.

    Amazing!
Some mixed reviews here. But I feel this product is far superior than people give it credit for.

    2 cameras and 5 lenses
Bit snug but perfect for my needs.

Once bottom layer of foam was plucked to shape and size, I then mirrored this same with the top layer. Having some bits become weak I used a hot glue gun to reinforce the spaces and also glue the two layers of foam together.

As the system is bespoke to the layout you decide I knew gluing the two layers together was the perfect option. And it works a treat

    1 x DSLR
    1 x 35mm SLR
    1 x 500mm lens
    1 x 24-70mm lens
    1 x 50mm lens
    1 x 85mm lens
    1 x 90mm lens

Easily as good as a Peli case at less than half the cost! Has x2 layers of foam internally so you can vary the depth of your cut outs easier. A really solid case!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFantastic Hard Case
I wanted a case to store my laser equipment in, something sturdy and portable in case i needed to take it with me elsewhere.

I searched around for quite a while before deciding to purchase this Amazon Basic Large Case.

The case is a very decent size with 2 layers of pluck foam and a dense foam at the bottom of the case. It is made of hard plastic and is also waterproof for a short while. It has a pull up handle with a safety latch to lock it in place. It is a little bigger than a standard carry airline bag. The wheels seem tough and i imagine it can withstand some decent knocks!

It took me about an hour to design how i wanted the inside to look and then pluck the foam. It was actually quite therapeutic!

Overall this case is superb! Really good value when compared to other hard camera cases.

I highly recommend this case if you have high value equipment that you wish to keep as safe as possible.

I hope you found my review helpful

You can’t beat it for the price
5/5: For the price, you cannot beat this case, everything fits snugly with the pick and pluck foam. There are two layers, I have a second set of batteries below my npfs, and plan to store more in this case.

The only issue (which is barely an issue) is that the handles rattle, it would be nice to be able to tighten them so they don’t rattle, but i’m grasping at straws for an issue!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersGood protectio
Seems a pretty solid case with a tough plastic shell and robust latches with the option to padlock on each side. The rotary valve completely seals against pressure changes when in the aircraft hold etc.

There’s two layers of “pick’n’pluck” foam so you can adjust for items of different heights as well and length and width. I found in practice you can fine-tune the depth of recess in lower layer by cutting the removed blocks in half with a knife and replacing.

Removing blocks is easy enough, each layer is made of foam rectangles about 1cm on each side which are partly attached to four neighbours. By carefully pulling away and plucking out, recesses are formed to hold your kit. Items can protrude 1cm or so and all are pushed down by the ‘egg grade’ foam fixed under the lid.

NB There’s plenty of online video guides on how to use toothpicks to created outlines of items before starting to remove the foam blocks. Your definitely want to plan the layout of items before launching in, as there’s no easy way to replace foam blocks removed in error from the top layer.

The one downside is the case tips over very easily when placed upright due to the position of the hinges; a surprising oversight.

    Great case for the price.
Great case, sturdy and half the cost of other branded cases. But why do they have to print ‘Amazon basics’ on the front of the case?! It really cheapens the look of it.

    Basic? Well, not really
Better made than the “basics” name would suggest. Foam is not the best I’ve ever seen but OK when the price is considered. If your eyes water when you look at Peli prices then this case could be a good option.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIgnore the "Basics" tag, this is a good value sturdy case
I’ve bought it to store kit at home in one place rather than travel about with it but it would be handy to load up the car if you were going to cover a range of possibilities at a location. As it is quite plain, it doesn’t advertise “cameras”. The case appears sturdy and the latches snap shut with a satisfying “clunk”. It is quite heavy even before loading your camera gear.

This large size I’ve used for three mirror-less bodies. their battery grips plus 5 prime lenses. It might be able to take one body plus long, medium and short zooms but I’m going to order another for my zoom lenses. It comes with two foam inserts although I’ve only needed to use one, so keeping the other as a spare. Take your time peeling out the pre-cut sections and use two fingers to prise apart the cuts before carefully lifting out the sections.

Edit; The external mouldings mean the cases are stackable so you can put two together in the car boot and they will stay stacked (assuming you don’t corner like a F1 driver…). The foam is still intact after plenty of use but any “dust” issues can be solved by using lens bags or use camera insert bags instead of the foam.

Bought this case to store/carry a detachable tow ball and electrical adapter for a Range Rover. Easy enough to cut the foam to fit and hold it all securely.

The tow ball is a very heavy lump of metal and this case is brilliant in keeping it safely stowed.

Recomendable!

Quality hard case very similar to the Peli range but a lot cheaper. Interior foam is easy to form to keep items separate and I managed to fit 3 studio lights in. Only slight issue is the weight – it is heavy when loaded but it does have wheels and a long handle to pull it by. Very pleased overall.

    Sturdiness

Very well made and seems very strong. Looks very nice as I’ve used to to keep camera equipment safe. Dose come with breakout foam in two layers that’s quite firm. I wish they would add a plastic tray between the two that would be a great idea but still a very good item

    Value for money

    AmazonBasics does it again…

After waiting an absolute age for the large cases to come back into stock; I didn’t hesitate to purchase one once they became available. And to be honest, I’m glad I waited as the build quality is more than acceptable for my requirements. In fact, I don’t think I could damage it if I tried!

With regards to size, there is more than enough room for the equipment I plan on taking on my adventures. I’m looking forward to see how the airlines treat it and how it withstands their abuse.

The ONLY thing I would like to look into in the future is either purchasing more pick-n-pluck inserts, or, look to have a bespoke insert produced for different internal layouts.

I bought two of these well-made cases to store and ship some audio recording gear for a traveling podcast. I needed two cases for all the parts but - in the end - everything from the mixer to the mic stands fit perfectly. The cases came with more than enough foam to pack everything snugly. The cases lock with authority - though I wouldn't rely on them to keep the contents dry if they were under water for any length of time. Thankfully we always record our podcasts in dry circumstances.

Does what I need it to, at a decent price.
Used it as a hard case for a DJI Ronin-S so that I could store it set and balanced for my camera setup. More than enough room for battery, accessory case, pre-set Ronin, tripod handle, and an additional storage area.

I have a lot of hard cases for my equipment, so I’m always looking for deals/value. There are cheaper brands around this size from ‘freight’ stores that are just as good, however the dimensions of THIS case were exactly what I needed for the Ronin-S. I wouldn’t want a case that is any thinner/shallower.

I was considering a Pelican case but they are easily 2X-3X the cost. This one holds all my camera gear and I have no doubt that my gear is well protected. It has two layers of foam you can remove sections of to adjust the depth. The only issue I had was that I was hoping to remove 1/2 of a layer and that turned out to be a big mess and I ended up just removing sections from both layers. It created a cavity deeper than needed for the lens I was inserting. The only other issue I had was that the latches are sometimes hard to set and release. A bit more leverage would have been beneficial. The hinges, carry handle and pull out handle are sturdy and I can't imagine them breaking. The wheels have what appear to be good quality steel bearings so they roll with very little resistance. All in all I am very happy with my purchase and I expect to use this for many, many years. It will probably outlast me.

I really liked this case. Affordable and does the job. It has two layers. Note: Once you start fitting all your gear with the foam layer, the top row will fall through to the bottom layer. I found a great way to fix this. Cut out a piece of cardboard to fit (leave two notches on each side to be able to pull the entire layer out) and I got some nice black felt and put it on the cardboard. Now my leases and camera does not fall through to the bottom layer when I want to get to the bottom layer. It would be smart of the MNFR to design a divider between layers but otherwise love it.

Case looks good and is durable. I use it to carry some boxes f selling samples on trips. Works as a carry on if you have no other luggage. Wheels are very durable.

Pros: Looks good out of the box, nice industrial appearance and protects cargo very well. Foam was easy to pull apart for cargo fitment.

Cons: Pull handle not optimally placed for taller people. Locking clamps not intuitive – TSA has opened for luggage inspection multiple times and has left open presumable because they don’t understand how to clamp locks down. Lid tends to warp slightly when traversing through multiple climate conditions.

I’ve been looking at the branded versions of these for a while, so was really pleased when I saw that amazon had bought some to put their name on, and sell them cheaper. It’s identical to a peli case, just as strong, water resistant and has cable holes for locking.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersGood quality budget peli case clone
I purchased this not for its intended purpose (camera equipment) but in order to take a basic set of tools on international flights.

In the past, I have checked in my toolbox as hold luggage (you can’t take tools in hand luggage), but on the last trip it arrived missing its handle, and the display of my multi meter was cracked, and having seen the way baggage handlers “care” for passengers bags, I decided I needed something with more padding.

I looked at peli cases but they’re horrendously expensive, this case is a much cheaper alternative, and hopefully it’s up to the task. I don’t need anything truly watertight, just sturdy and with a foam insert, but this case looks like it would be.

    Pros:
    Excellent value for money
    Fairly light weight
Seems sturdy, not tested it long term though
Foam insert is of good quality
Label/name tag insert is well designed, can’t be removed unless case is opened

    Cons:
Would prefer the padlock attachment point to be in the center, to fully secure the case you have to use two padlocks, which is a bit inconvenient. If you use a single padlock the case can be partially prised open on the other side, potentially contents could be exposed that way.
Not really a con, more of a personal preference, but i would’ve preferred the foam inside to be a single piece, so it can be cut with a stanley knife like other cases. I can see why amazon did this however as a lot of people wouldn’t be comfortable doing that, the pre-cut squares design is “tool-less”.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersDecent design and good build quality
Since pelican is way too costly in India, I brought this case. Decent quality and almost same size as Pelican 1510
    Issues
    1. I doubt if it’s allowed as carry on as it’s a bit bigger (Height) compared to pelican
    2. After sales support or service is doubtful
    3. Inside there is a big hollow space in between the rails, they could have just provided a flat platform ( it depends, some may use that space) see photo
    4. Hinges are not so premium as that of pelican
Decent buy and a good job by Amazon

Edit: Got an after market insert done from a local bag maker (around 1k) and now it can easily hold 2 bodies and 5+ lenses

Very solid case that I believe will be durable protection for sensitive gear during our travels. Matches engage well and at this point there isn’t any “play” in the hinges. Will update review if we discover otherwise, but from all appearances it is good value for the cost!

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersAnother great product from AmazonBasics! Read Full Review!
I bought this case for when I travel abroad with my camera equipment with me!

I currently own a Canon 800D and a selection of lenses that I felt needed the extra protection when travelling around the world (which I do a few times per year)

This camera case is for people who have items they want to keep protected (like myself) while they travel or when they take from place to place. The case itself is relatively heavy and very durable. I have tried standing on this case myself (like another reviewer has mentioned) and it is very solid to say the least. The design of the case is very well thought through, it has been made from hard, black, durable plastic. With the only notable exception being the handle which is significantly softer that makes it very comfortable in the hand to carry about.

Moving onto the interior it include three plain layer of foam that are known (to the best of my knowledge) as pick n pluck foam. This allows you to customise the interior to best fit your equipment and how you wish it to be arranged inside the case. The top has waffle shaped foam so that it will easily fit around whatever you put in. Please note there is very little if not any movement from the case so if the equipment you put in is too tall etc the case will not accommodate this.

To close the case itself you use the two plastic latches and then you turn a dial to completely secure the case. Again to the best of my knowledge this is to make the case air tight and to secure it from the elements. The good thing about this case is the dial protects the contents in the case of the latches being opened accidentally. Great piece of mind knowing your equipment is safe in the case of this eventuality.

I would seriously consider this case if you are wanting a robust, strong case to protect your equipment. In my opinion this product stands up great to the selection of “storm cases” and other products offered by the likes of pelican. (Which I have also owned in the past). For me I wouldn’t consider using any other products as this really is second to none. Finally i think it is great knowing there is the options of small, medium and large size cases that all are built to the same high quality. Perfect for all and every kind of equipment.

Another great product from “amazonbasics” (nothing basic about this!)

Please click on the “Yes” button below if this review has been helpful, thank you!

Every bit as nice as a Pelican case at a much more reasonable price.

My only complaint is that Amazon doesn’t currently sell replacement foam inserts, and the dimensions are different enough that you can’t use the replacement foam for a comparably sized Pelican.

My only negative things are that I have fairly weak hands and arthritis and I cannot open or close the latches. I'm pretty bummed about it. Not sure if I can return since I've already ripped out foam. I want to keep it if I can find a solution to open and close with out asking for help

If you are a photographer and cinematographer like me and walk into the venue with this camera case... Be prepared to be taken seriously. This case is not only built like a tank, but it has the presence of one. Your client, and everyone at the event, will take notice and appreciate someone that takes that much care of his/her equipment and looks just as presentable. I have no complaints other than that sometimes the latches seem a bit too stiff and difficult to unlatch, but if anything that just goes to show how solidly built this case is constructed. Two thumbs up from me Amazon.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersExcellent heavy-duty Hardcase - does exactly as it says on the tin.... Good price
I was looking for a watertight heavy-duty box for my lenses which can take pretty much any abuse possible when out and about.

I got it. this Amazon Hard case is well made, VERY strong/tough/thick Plastic, incredibly sturdy and has room enough for up to 8/9 lenses.

I stood my friend on it – he is 148kg – the box didn’t give in in any way. It didn’t even give any ”crunching” sound or a squeak.

Carrying handle, long handle for ”rolling along” are both strong.

It is clean and does not ”catch your eye”

It probably will outlast me – good for those whoch will inherite my cameras!

I have the “large” version of this case. . . and it’s a bit heavy. Granted, for the type of case it is, you don’t want a “lightweight” sort of case. It has a lot of the “bells-and-whistles” of some other cases, but with a lower price point. It’s watertight. . . It has a handle with wheels. . .You can customize the interior removing the foam in sections. (FYI. . I highly recommend keeping any foam you remove, so that if you change cameras or equipment, you can replace the foam as needed.) This is a very rugged case that should last and last.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersKamerakoffer Hartschale

Biozid. Vorsicht wenn Kinder beim Auspacken helfen.
    .
    .

Leider bietet Amazon Basics keinerlei Ersatz an.

    .
    .
    An AmazonBasics:

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersNicht hübsch, aber robus

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHeavy protection for camera and lighting gea
This is hardcore luggage designed to protect your camera gear from extreme abuse, and competes with products from Pelican and others. If you are heading off on African Safari with all your camera and lighting gear, or simply doing a shoot in another city and need to check your gear on a flight, this is what you need.

The case is made from thick, strong plastic and is designed to withstand crushing and dropping. Inside there are layers of foam that are pre-cut so you can remove “slices” of the foam to create a pocket that’s custom-sized for each of your items. This stops them moving around inside the case and that helps with protection from rapid deceleration (AKA baggage handlers throwing your luggage around).

The downside of a case like this is that the thick plastic is heavy. This case weighs about 18 pounds, before you’ve put anything in it. The good news is that the case has wheels and an extendable handle like a rolling suitcase, so it’s much easier to maneuver. I didn’t check, but the case looks to be about the FAA maximum carry-on size for an aircraft, so you could carry it on provided the airline was OK with the weight. There is very little ground clearance when wheeling the case around (the wheels are in the corners), so it will catch on an irregular surface and it has to be carried up and down stairs.

The case is secured by two levers that lock down bringing both sides of the case together for a snug fit to keep water and dust out. There’s a moulded section near the handle with a hole to so you can use a padlock to deter thieves. Because the case gasket is water and dust tight, there’s also a purge valve that balances the air pressure inside the case to stop it popping open at 30,000 ft.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersBlack, plastic and very robus
This camera case is for someone who has something they want to keep very secure. It is heavy and very robust but you could stand on it easily (I have tried this) and as far as I can see it is weatherproof, if not waterproof. It is not pretty but it has a certain rugged charm. It is made from hard, black, plastic except for a covering on the handle which makes it softer to carry, especially when it is heavy. It has little feet on its side when you put it down to open it and good sized ones on its base when it is stood up – this means that over all it is very stable.

Inside it comes with three plain foam layers which you can cut out and pile on top of one another depending on the dpth of what you are putting in the case. The top has waffle shaped foam so that it will easily fit around whatever you put in. Look at the dimensions carefully to make sure that you can get your camera in the space available because the case will not move at all.

You close the case with two plastic latches and then you turn a knob to secure it even further. The latches are fine to use but the knob is fiddly and the “open” and “close” instructions are in raised black plastic which you are never going to see in dim light (they are not easy even in bright light !). The latches open easily enough when the knob is in the right position and the whole thing is secure from accidental opening when it is closed.

If you want an exceedingly robust case for a small camera or a few lenses then this is definitely worth considering.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersFür den sicheren Transport gut geeignet, ansonsten nicht sehr geräumig

    Relacin Tamao/Capacidad.

Golden Review Award: 34 From Our UsersI trust this thing with my gea
The first thing I said when I took this out of the box was “This is build like a tank!” which is exactly what I think anyone looking at purchasing would be hoping for. Right away you notice this thing isn’t meant to be pretty. It’s thick injection molded plastic that isn’t perfectly uniform and there are some burrs on the outside. This doesn’t bother me a bit because you can tell how sturdy it’ll be by picking it up. That’s what matters.

Everything about this is solid. at least 3/16ths thickness all around, reinforcing ribs and beefy hinges. Both handles are nice and big with the carrying one covered in thick rubber for a good grip. Your latches snap into place hard and take a good pull to get off so there’s no risk of an accidental opening. The hinges are good too and feature multiple positions to keep the lid just where you want it. I love the release for the pulling handle too; two big spring loaded latches on the bottom that you pinch to release. The wheels are a hard plastic but I appreciate that they didn’t skimp on the bearings which spin effortlessly. On the front you get a nice little label slot as well as a pressure release knob. I came in to find my two year old standing on this case on the coffee table and you could tell it didn’t care. No physical weakness that I can detect.

On the inside you’ll first notice the two layers of pull apart foam that I was able to quickly pull into the required shapes after laying things out. NOTE: I recommend spending some time with this step because after my first iteration that you can see I ran into some issues. Place things like the camera/flashes in the center. This is because once you get through the two layers you’re not to the bottom; there more regular foam but it’s filling in the void that the wheels and handle don’t take up. In my case a really hard bump could hand them impacting the hard plastic like the wheel well. Just places smaller things in those areas. I need to move some things around wad while the foam is already pulled I’ll just make the move and hot glue it in the old spot. The top has nice cushion-y egg crate foam and you’ll notice a big gasket that should keep a good amount of accidental water out. The opposite lip looks well designed to make positive contact with that gasket.

Besides the loud baby-waking snap the latches make there’s really nothing I can complain about. The outside is a beast and the inside has tons of nice soft foam to keep your gear snug as a bug in a rug. I’ve noticed nothing that looks like it won’t last long and once I settle on a layout I’ll probably keep everything in here full-time.

When they say "Large" they mean large. Carry your camera and all your peripherals in this well constructed, padded, and protective camera case. The case itself, while solid, is light so you do not gain that much weight on top of your equipment.

    Big, heavy, secure
This case is super tough, yet very heavy. It’s good that it has a wheel and a handle, because carrying this around full of equipment would be hard.

That being said, it will keep your stuff safe. The case is waterproof and full of foam, which can be configured as needed. The latches are super-secure. Though I haven’t tested it this way – it seems waterproof.

Incredibly well-built case. Extremely solid and durable. Larger then expected, this case has a far more expanded list of uses other then just 'camera case'. Comes with layers of foam that can be cut to custom fit any object worth protecting. Comes with a sturdy handle as well as wheels and an extendable handle for rolling. Highly recommended for protecting a variety of objects.

I like it, but it is heavy
This is a sturdy, very heavy, sealed case that could probably fall out of an aircraft and still survive. The plastic is thick and strong and the foam inside provides great protection. I had no problem shaping the foam cutouts to my D500 and D7200 as well as their lenses and my 700 flash unit with room left over. The foam is precut and can be easily torn out or for a neater job it is cut easily with a kitchen knife.

There are two very rugged latches and they are equally tough to latch and unlatch. But at least they feel like it would be tough to accidentally open them.

This case comes with two high-end ball bearing wheels and a built in handle. Those are needed. Even without equipment this is a heavy case, and it’s pretty bulky for hand carry. However, if you need to carry with a handle, the handle is just as sturdy as the case and easily hefts the weight. It is non-slip rubber coated for a secure grip, too.

I find the biggest negative to be the weight. Otherwise this is a very sturdy, large, useful case.

    Camera Equipment Hard Case
It suited to everyday use (eg carrying equipment safely in a car and transporting it about the countryside etc) though I would be concerned for flight use. The padlock lugs are plastic not metal or metal reinforced so might as well place plastic locks on…

It comes with three pick-out foam layers which allow you to pull pieces out to suit the shape of your equipment: it would pay to consider carefully what you want to put in the case. Some hard cases use dividers as in a backpack. Would be nice if they offered both and spare foam.

It has a pressure valve to allow you to equalise the pressure for flight use.

In terms of looks it looks rugged and strong – sort of chunky look. The plastic is thick and heavy. However, when using the handle and wheels it doesn’t seem so heavy.

It might not be an elegantly designed case for which you’d likely pay more but it does seem functional and, for the price, pretty good stuff.

This is a tough and sturdy case. It has a handle to pull it along and one for carrying. It is made from a tough thick plastic with thick foam inserts which can be cut and shaped for your camera and equipment to fit snugly and keep it safe from bumps and knocks. It has a pressure valve if it is used for flying and the wheels seem to be securely fixed. It is also the correct size to be classed as hand luggage. The case looks like a tool box on wheels and could also be used for tools especially if you have to travel and need to take tools with you. You could just as easily cut the foam to fit around a drill for example or completely remove it. Tools are heavy so the pull along feature could be useful.
Overall this is a well made sturdy case which is robust and would withstand a bit of rough handling. I cannot however comment on its value for money as at the time of writing this review there was no price published.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersVery very nice case.
As of the time of writing I don’t know the cost of this case. I received it free from the Amazon Vine program.

The case is in the vane of Peli or SKB cases and this particular case is designed for small cameras. I know I’d get a dslr without a battery grip and at least on smallensuring. For me though I’ll log it with three flash guns and for this if seems perfect.

Open the two latches which are stiff and 8nside you’ll find go am inside the lid and a double layer of foam on the bottom. The lower foam is partially perforated to allow for easy shaping to accurately mimic the shape of your goods.

The handle seems really solid, there’s a gasket to help stop water getting in, though I haven’t tried that yet, and there’s a pressure release Vale on the outside.

Since I don’t intend going swimming with this case I’m sure it’ll handle all sorts of bad weather. Frankly, thiso case is impressive, I just wish I knew what it costs to evaluate value for money. Deducted quality star for that.

This is a very huge and heavy case, stuffed with firm slabs of foam padding. There are several slabs so you can remove a few to make room if you need to. Everything with this is super heavy duty. The locks are extremely heavy and are very secure. The handle can be extended by depressing two buttons. It also has wheels. So, if you need a steamer trunk size case for any type of equipment, you will love this.

Great way to protect sensitive hardware as you transport it.
Simply awesome. A solid case, good, comfortable handle, or you can pull out the extending handle and trundle it on its wheels.
Inside there are layers of strong foam, with 1cm square cut outs – you push through all the ones you need out the way to drop your camera equipment in. This allows you to easily make a container for your kit that looks professional and protects your camera hardware perfectly.

But don’t think this has to be just for cameras – it would be great for network tools – any sensitive equipment you need to transport and protect.

Updated Review (+ 1 Star): These Are Amazon-Branded "Elephant" Cases (Or Both Source From Same Manufacturer)
UPDATE (Feb 2017): The large case is – I’m really certain – an Elephant E300 (dimensions check out exactly), Elephant sells it for $142.99 (black with foam), but also offers it in yellow and green (with & without foam) for a bit more. e Bay has these “black with foam” running at (best price) for about the same as Elephant (both with free shipping). So Amazon’s prices are pretty good (especially if you are a Prime member (where you get free 2-day shipping)), but maybe not so good if Amazon charges you sales tax and the other two don’t.

The “medium” is – I’m fairly certain – the Elephant E215 (dimensions don’t check out exactly). As of this update, it runs about $2.00 cheaper on Elephant’s web site and $5.00 cheaper on e Bay.

DEAL ALERT! The “small” is – I’m really certain – the Elephant E150 (dimensions check out exactly). If I’m correct, this is a steal on Amazon as it runs $30 more expensive on both Elephant and on e Bay.

I upgraded my initial review from 4 stars to 5 stars because Amazon has brought these in at a competitive price (and the small case is (as of February 25, 2017) a GREAT deal). I’m not having problems with the foam or other features some other reviewers have commented about. If I did have a “complaint,” it would be that these are heavy cases (a bit heavier I think than Pelican and more along the lines of what Plano offers. Still excellent cases though. Highly recommend; urge the reader to strongly consider.

UPDATE (Jan 2017): After doing a bit of research it appears this case may be an “Amazon Basic” rebranding of an Elephant case (see for example, the Elephant E150 Case with Foam for Camera, Video, Guns, Test and Metering Equipment Waterproof Hard Plastic Case ).

    Original Title:
You Won’t Mistake This For THAT Brand, But That Could Be Okay….

    Original Review:
You won’t mistake this for a Pelican case. This Amazon Basics case only has 2 latches (most Pelican cases have at least 4) and the texture and feel of the case is slightly different.

But that’s where the differences end. This is a nice (but not great) case that seems very rugged (case construction, latch construction, hinge construction) and full-featured. Each latch has a lock hole. The handle folds up and down smoothly and has a nice rubbery feel to the handle grip. The case has an air pressure relief valve that (while not as nice as what the Pelican cases have) is easy to use and functional. This large size case has two outer layers of foam (“top” and “bottom”?) and two configurable layers of foam in which to “encase” your items. There are slots on the inside that I guess are for section dividers, but the case did not come with any dividers. I also like the clever label slot (you access the label when the plastic label holder slides after opening the case). This case is advertised as the “big brother” of AmazonBasics Hard Camera Case, Medium , but I don’t think that that works. This larger case has an extendable handle and wheels (to handle a heavier load) and it’s the addition of these two features that a) significantly increases the weight of this case (it’s heavy; you really need the wheels even before you put anything in it) and b) makes it a very different case from its supposed “little brother.” Having said this, I will say that the wheels roll well and the extendable handle works without a hitch (one caveat: handle works well for those 5’9″ and under; taller than 5’9″ and you’re beginning to stoop).

This could be a great case for transporting/protecting/storing photography kit or as a gun case, etc. But the weight, oh the weight. Additionally, some prospective buyers might be turned off by the fact that the case is made in China. Finally, I have no idea how much Amazon intends to sell this for (at the time of this review the product page link linked to a “Sorry, we couldn’t find that page” and a search for “AmazonBasics Hard Camera Case, Large…” in the Amazon search bar yielded no results). Bottom line, if Amazon can bring this case in at a reasonable price to a) beat the competition and b) overcome the weight downside I would feel better with this 4-star review. I debated about giving this case 3 stars, but that seemed a bit cruel. So let’s give Amazon the benefit of the doubt and go with 4 stars.

P.S. I am really hoping this review links to a product page soon because I’m curious as to how much Amazon is willing to expand this product line (meaning, I hope the company does as they off to a relatively good start).

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBasique mais solide !
