Fantastic Cameras
Set-up simple, APP better than RING, picture quality amazing, really love all the features and options. Support when had a hiccup (due to my slow connection not the cameras) helped me super patiently for over an hour whilst I sorted everything until it all worked and they had checked their end. Just can’t fault a thing. Cameras are a life changer just utterly fantastic.
The best wireless CCTV
I like this model Ultra 2. Night vision, picture quality and motion detection are very good.
Good quality camera's. But?
First off I’ll start with how good the picture is on these camera’s. You have the option to view in 4k or can drop the image quality down a couple of levels to safe battery power.
I love the ultra wide viewing and was really pleased with how wide of a picture they pick up.
With two way audio you can speak to people through them and also hear there replies.
The built in spotlight again is a great feature and works really well.
With the package that has the hub you plug this via ethernet to your broadband hub for easy setup and the hub also takes a micro SD card so you can store locally and in that sense wouldn’t have to have a Arlo subscription.
The overall setup was really easy and I had them up and running in 10 minutes.
My only negative is that it says the battery can last up to 12 months.
For me this wasn’t the case as I live on a busy street and because of this I was having to charge the batteries every few weeks which for me is a bit annoying.
You can purchase a magnetic outdoor cable for these so that they always receive power and this is something I am going to have to invest in as charging them every couple of weeks really isn’t ideal for me.
Other than this I really am impressed with the quality and I would recommend them but I would also recommend getting the outdoor magnetic charge cable or even the solar power charger you can get for these.
Crystal clear system but requires subscription for more features
To make the most use out of the Arlo cameras, you will need to purchase a subscription, though this does not stop it from performing its standard functions – recordings can still be saved to a micro sd card.
There are a few different types of subscriptions which range from as little as 2.79 for a single camera all the way up to 12.99 for unlimited cameras on the Secure Plus plan, which gives you additional features such as higher cloud video quality, theft protection and extended warranty.
In terms of the cameras, it’s a very simple process to get them installed and set up.
At this price point, it does live up to expectations.
The camera quality is top notch and through the app, you have the ability to set trigger zones, so any activity in that zone is captured and recorded, and much more depending on whether you get a subscription or not.
Batteries can last up to a year without charge but even though I haven’t been using them for that long, I will monitor the battery capacity and charge accordingly.
Overall, it’s a solid cctv camera set with brilliant day/night quality. The only catch is that you’ll need to buy a subscription to get access to the additional benefits. Very pleased with this and gives me peace of mind knowing I can keep my property as secure as I can.
Woah! How much.
Just look at that price. Optical popitude! Can these cameras really be that expensive? Well indeed they can. And then once you’ve splashed out on these you can continue to splash whilst paying for the spectacularly expensive subscription.
The cameras are outstanding, providing crystal clear images at all times and in all weather’s. Quick and easy to install. Has a battery that lasts a long time and is easy to charge. Is great at differentiating between people and the neighbourhood fox but only if you pay.
The cameras are small too and so will not make your house look like Fort know. Despite their size they provide a very wide angle. One covers a large area.
They really are the best cameras I’ve used and if only I was a investment banker I could recommend them more than I am doing.
Great cameras, expensive subscriptio
The best cameras I have ever came across. As a mum I am always anxious of robbers and criminals in the area that could hurt my babies. So I ordered these to give me peace of mind while we’re sleeping and not only. The cameras are smaller than expected but very easy to install, the app as well. Easy to use and it comes with a free subscription that ends after a while. Having to pay for the subscription is the only downside of this camera. The image quality is supperb, they are water resistant, the sensors can detect humans only with the subscription, the flashlight is very powerful and the battery life can go up to 1 year. The perfect camera if you can afford the subscription.
If like me you live in an area of no wired internet and use a mobile router then DO NOT sign up for a Three contract. These cameras (connected via a SmartHome Hub) do not stay connected for more than a few minutes, it then takes them a while to reconnect. This is not an Arlo issue, it is Three whose service is not fit for purpose, I am not sure if it is packet loss or something else but the bottom line it doesn’t work. I changed to an EE SIM in my router and the system works great. Hope this helps anyone struggling to get a reliable system in a similar position to me.

You get 3 months trial of the cloud recording and clearly, this can’t be free, but the ongoing cost is quite high. However, you have to compare this to wiring your own cameras up and setting up your own hosted cloud recording – much more hassle. I actually record only locally to an sd card – you can set up port forwarding to review video remotely if you want.
Anyway, compare to a wired system, these cameras are better and much less faff.

The camera was very easy to set up. I had to download an app and connect it but it’s steps are just easy to follow.
It includes screws and wall plugs for mounting.
I have to say that image quality is really good. It can be stored via cloud which is free for the first 3 months and then there will be a monthly or annual subscription to continue using it.
It has a night vision feature which is really good too. You can zoom in and the image quality is still great.
Battery life was supposed to last 365 days. I have only been using this for a month so I cannot confirm this one.
At first I thought it was really really pricey. But having used it now, I’d say it’s a good investment if you want to add security at home and in your property.
I’m running 8 of them and about to get 4 more as each station seems to be handling 6 feeds without problems.
The bad first: It’s extremely expensive for what it is. NO CVR UNLESS IT’S PLUGGED IN THE MAINS & YOU PAY A SUBSCRIPTION. On top of the OTHER subscription which gives you basic movement detection and the like… that’s outrageous. Furthermore, unlike the competition’s products, you only get 30 second ‘clips’ that vary wildly in quality. Because the cam’s motion detectors do not always activate fast enough, forget about using this for wildlife and the like. It runs VERY HOT when plugged in, too, and the options feel more like a ‘gimmick’ than useful (package detection, really?). Finally, the battery last 2 weeks max when recording at 4k in a semi-busy area (think landing of your house with 5 inhabitants).
So why buy this at all? Well, outside of “build your own”, it’s the only solution where easily moved ‘hub’ stations will de-saturate your existing wifi and allow you to place cameras ANYWHERE without having to worry about your main infrastructure. They will also auto-recognize each other and yes, you can have a theoretically infinite amount of cameras. That’s essentially the reason why you’re buying this anyways – you don’t have wifi coverage where you need it to stick a nest in. There’s something VERY nice about being able to grab a camera that was left on a desk and temporarily move it out to the front garden to capture ‘what is that noise’ you hear every night at 3am (it’s a fox, by the way).
A big plus I haven’t tried is some sort of DAS storage option but I’m not sure how it fares on multiple stations. As for quality, 4k means 4k and the FOV is really, really wide without too much fish eye, which is GREAT.
It’s definitely a niche product for those that can afford it, but if you live in a house that’s quite spread out, without wanting to drill and re-paint each wall to connect to the mains, it’s also your only option as of August 2022.
Finally a cctv set I can really see the finer details.
This Arlo 4k xl camera is one of the best on the current market and by far the best cctv set I have used to date. For the last few years I have had my entire house linked up to ring using it for my cctv, house alarm and door bell I have never liked the app something I found I prefer is the Arlo app you also get 3 months subscription free trial rather than rings 30 days.
I have only been using this system for about 30 days so but the battery life is expected to last 365 days or a year so it’s hard to really have much of an opinion on battery life but I’m sure it will be as expected.
Night vision is great I was very impressed with it especially when you turn the torch on. The picture quality is absolutely outstanding you can zoom in and really see things you wouldn’t normally expect to see with cctv. For example someone drove past and it picked it up before I set the zones to not pick up the road I could zoom in and see someone In the car. On the phone! My old cctv would just turn to a big pixel when you tried to zoom.
Installation was a breeze for me as I have wooden cladding to screw into but you get screws and wall plugs supplied if needed.
The bracket took me around 1 minute to install and maybe the same to mount the camera. A few minutes messing around with the app and I was up and running from out the box within 15 minutes! By far the fastest I’ve ever had a cctv system working.
The cloud subscription as said previously you get 3 months free trial and then have to pay for it after that on a monthly or annual basis. I will be carrying on the subscription as it’s very much worth it for the cloud space alone.
As expected when I close the very heavy duty bifold doors I have in the kitchen the signal drops off this like said was expected that’s why I have had wired internet and a router in the summer house so I just plugged the hub into the summer house and the cameras work fine 1 camera being about 5 metres from the hub and the other around 10-12 metres away both with full strength signal. You can set the camera to alarm and set a siren off this isn’t too loud to be honest but I’m guessing it would spook you if you was up to no good.
Overall yes they are a lot of money but they are seriously worth it if you want cameras you can use on your phone simply and with great quality.

These cameras are still fully functional without a subscription, although your options and features are limited.
The majority of the features offered with a monthly payment subscription could easily be incorporated into the smartphone downloaded applications on Apple or Android apps considering the cost of these cameras in the first place.
They are not the cheapest cameras on the market, but probably one of the most reliable.
To be fair, the monthly subscription charge to the extra services and features Arlo offer, are reasonable and considerably less than the majority of the others that I’ve come across.
Impressive set of security cameras
We were hugely impressed by the design – such amazing quality and modern look, but also for the picture and video quality. The cameras are very easy to set up, and downloading the app makes things even more impressive. My partner said he had never seen such a good and easy app before. To be able to use the cameras at their full potential, you must subscribe and pay somewhere around 9$ for unlimited use – I am fully aware that this adds up to the big cameras’ price, but in my opinion, being safe is worth more than that, especially when having kids. Highly recommend the cameras!
Good 4K high definition - but only a pricey subscription will make the most of all its features...
Arlo is one of the better known and premium CCTV camera system brands so I’m very pleased to be have had the chance to try their Ultra2 XL System with its pair of compact and stylish cameras. My partner set it up – and found it relatively easy to do so by dowloading the app and following the instructions.
Initially the cameras need installing – the mountings and fixings are all supplied in the pack – and the pair of batteries need charging up. The log in to your account to view the live streaming. The batteries appear to be a really good feature of this Arlo system. They’re claimed to last 12 months without needing to be recharged and when they do need recharging, the bases feature a magnetic contact so the cameras don’t need to be taken down.
No need to call in an electrician to install the Arlo Ultra2 XL system of course as it’s wireless. The 4K high definition is most impressive. You can zoom in up to 12 times and see plenty of detail. The definition is even great in low light conditions. The floodlights these cameras have are impressive too and cast a significat amount of light.
Any downsides? Well, to get the absolute best out of this Arlo system, it should be used with an Arlo subscription service which isn’t cheap but really maximises its functionality. Usefully, the 90 day free trial lets you make a reasoned choice as to whether to opt in or not.
But even without a subscription, you can still access the live stream, motion alerts and 2-way connectivity via a mobile. You can record locally – but this lacks the advantages and the convenience of cloud storage. I might go as far as to say that, although this is a great system, unless you’re prepared to fund the subscription, you may do better elsewhere with a lower priced camera security system.
A little pricey, but a high-quality and impressive security camera
This security camera provides great quality images and is very convenient as it allows communication with the visitor.
The CCTV camera can zoom in up to 12x and still record 4K and HDR advanced image quality. It is also equipped with enhanced colour night vision and a noise cancellation feature that has two-way audio, which allows the visitor to speak and be heard clearly. It is also wire-free, making it easy to install. This security camera stores the video directly on the cloud, and depending on the user’s subscription, the ARLO subscription option offers enhanced features such as detecting more than any other brand, such as identifying and prioritising people, cars, pets, and packages; focusing with activity zones; and also includes camera theft protection insurance. For those who do not have a subscription, it provides a live stream, motion alerts, and two-way communication via mobile.The battery for each camera is a large rectangular shape rated at 13,000 mAh. This will provide up to one full year’s use without needing to be recharged.
I would describe this as well-made and stylish. I particularly like the base section, which has a magnetic contact that makes the battery recharge without having to take it down. When it’s time to charge, I just attach the magnetic charger or remove it from the camera and charge it manually. I would say that this is very simple to install. No cables are needed as the cameras are powered by an internal battery. Another handy feature that I like is that the camera has the ability to communicate with the person on the other end. It is very helpful whenever I have an unknown visitor.
All in all, this security camera has everything I need. However, I would say that this is not budget-friendly for me as it requires a monthly subscription to have full access to its functionalities.
Excellent cameras with expensive subscription for full features
If you’re looking for the best picture quality with the best features from a known brand and you don’t mind paying for the privilege, these are great. For the rest of us I suspect the high price of the cameras plus the subscription cost might be a bit off-putting. You really do need an active subscription to get the best out of them. Without one you can still use the basics (local recording to a micro SD card and live viewing) but not much else, and I think that would be a shame given the capabilities of the system as a whole.
The cameras themselves are excellent. Really high build quality and the picture quality you get from them is just superb, both day and night. The 4K resolution makes a huge difference and means you can zoom right in to see details that lower resolution cameras just can’t capture. You do lose some image quality when you zoom in, but it’s still impressively clear. The automatic zooming is also very cool and works surprisingly well.
I wasn’t sure I would, but I like the super wide angle lens. It means you can cover a large area with a single camera and zoom in to see details as necessary. I think if they’d had a lower resolution sensor this wouldn’t have been so practical, so the 4K resolution and wide angle lens obviously do work well together.
The flood light is brighter than I’d expected, easily lighting up a patio area to the point that you can see clearly in the dark. The siren could be a useful extra feature for some people but I don’t see me using it personally (I have a seperate alarm system for that). The same goes for the ability to talk via the cameras. It’s a nice idea in theory but I doubt I’ll find a practical use for it. I really just need to monitor my house and garden for any uninvited “visitors”, deliveries, etc.
I haven’t had them installed long enough to need to charge the batteries yet, but they do seem to be holding their charge well so far and are running down more slowly than my other cameras. I’m sure the real world battery life will depend on the environment in which they’re installed, how often they detect motion and record, how often you view them, etc. so in reality you might get less than 12 months, but any increase in battery life over my other cameras is very welcome.
This camera system is impressive to look at, and the ease of setting it up is even more impressive. You just download the app and follow instructions that are simple to follow. I love how slimline the cameras are and how unobtrusive they are when they are in place. You might even want to put up a sign saying that you have security cameras because would be robbers might not even notice them!
I think it’s amazing that these cameras come with batteries that are meant to last a whole year, obviously I can’t say if the claim is true as I haven’t had them a year yet. Thankfully they are rechargable so even if they don’t last a whole year you can charge them again.
We have one camera focused on our shed and the other along the side of the house. It’s amazing how with the subscription the cameras can detect if a person or a pet is in view. I am not looking forward to when the free subscription runs out because we have 7 stray cats that are in and out of our gardens at all hours of the day and night. Then we have the occasional hedgehog and fox. The motion detector will be going off at a crazy rate because without the subscription we won’t be able to set it to only alert us when humans are in the vicinity! There are so many perks to having a subscription but it is not something we can afford, and a lot of people will find that they can’t afford it either. The cameras without the subscription will turn from a state of the art set up to just a very expensive set of cameras with just very basic features.
Maybe when the cost of living isn’t so ridiculous we will be able to enjoy the features from buying the subscription. If you don’t think you will purchase it, I would tell you to go for a less expensive camera set up with the same basic features. But if you want to pay monthly then you can’t go wrong with these cameras, and I would 100% recommend them. From cloud storage, being able to record in high definition, and most importantly to have the motion detection distinguish between what it is seeing and alerting you to, this is a great set!
Incredible definition - Excellent low light performance - Easy to use app
These are definitely some of the best possible cameras I have ever seen – The quality is incredible and you can clearly zoom in to an incredible level of detail which can be incredibly useful. The app itself is easy to setup on the phone and once you have charged the batteries, installed the cameras and setup the base station, it was then a case of logging into your account and the streaming was instant and at great quality. The system can be explained with more cameras on the same base station and these are available separately.
The depth of field and width of coverage is excellent and will provide almost 160 degree coverage, so you won’t need may cameras to cover a vast area. As these are rechargeable and designed to last a year, you can install them out of easy reach. The mounting is easy to install on the wall and fixings are provided. They are solid and secure on the base and there is no no wind wobble or anything.
The only thing I find a little frustrating is that they include a 90 day trial of the full functionality, with cloud recording etc, but after that is up there is a separate subscription. You can still record locally, but, this isn’t ideal and not really as secure as using cloud based recording.
You can also talkback through the cameras which could be handy for avoiding direct confrontation with an intruder.
Overall – Its an incredible system, but due to the price, I think you shouldn’t have to pay so quickly for the full subscription – but – I cannot argue with the quality, this is full 4k super high quality video.
Superb quality set up but comes at a price , very impressive performance
I was expecting the cameras to be bigger with them being XL but they are surprisingly compact and sleek which is excellent, they certainly look premium quality with nice aesthetics and features as you would expect from security cameras at this price point.
We already had an arlo camera so I was already aware of the quality and standards that there products set so I’m not surprised of the performance which is very good.
To get the most of the cameras you need a subscription , you then get the most out of the cameras and their features , the video and image quality is superb and you can also zoom in for a clearer look which is excellent.
The lights are more powerful than i was expecting and can light up a patio area and small garden with ease , there is also a siren feature that could be an excellent warning feature to any unwanted visitors.
The audio capabilities are much better than my previous system , two way audio and the night vision and night images are definitely an improvement to what we are used to.
I like that this particular set gives us protection and good 180 surveillance of our front and our back gardens so we now feel fully protected.
The other thing that really impresses me about this surveillance camera set up is the battery life , the battery can last around a year , so you are not constantly having to check and charge the battery every few weeks , you get peace of mind that they are working well at all times without the batteries failing all the time.
They are completely weather proof too , it’s easy to set up and you are fully protected front and back for a whole year.
Superb quality , but it comes at a premium price but there is no doubting the quality.
Terrific image quality, expensive subscriptio
The Ultra 2 XL offers a significant step up in image quality from my Pro 4 and doubles the battery life (not that you’re likely to achieve anything like the theoretical year). You also get extended wi-fi range with dual-band capability, and colour footage at night. The other big difference is that, where Pro 4 can operate independently, Ultra 2 needs the hub that comes in the boxed set, perhaps because of the extra bandwidth for 4K. On the plus side, you can use the hub for local storage on a microSD card.
The cameras have speakers as well as microphones, enabling 2-way talk, although in practice visitors are likely to have disappeared before you manage to establish a connection. Unless they’re up to no good, of course.
The hub means you can get away without a cloud subscription, but you can’t view hub recordings through the Arlo app — the microSD card needs to be removed and installed in a PC or other device. So, you may well want a subscription anyway, and if you want to record in 4K it’ll need to be the expensive Secure Plus subscription, currently 12.99/month I believe (12.99 covers several cameras).
In any case, a subscription is needed if you want some of the more-advanced capabilities such as Alert Zones and Person/Package/Vehicle/Animal differentiation. Those are features I’d expect to find as standard on cameras at this price. I get them with my Netatmo Presence cameras, for example. I don’t even need a hub, with Presence, because it has on-board storage and can also record to a NAS drive, Dropbox and other FTP services. What Presence doesn’t offer, however, is battery operation, so it may be a non-starter for you. And there’s no speaker, although you do get a powerful floodlight instead of just a spotlight.
Image quality is the best of any CCTV camera I’ve tried, and I’ve tried all the big brands. The 180-degree field of view is great if you need it but makes objects smaller in the frame. A zoom feature makes it easy to pick out details such as car number plates, but of course the wide view means you have to zoom in a long way, losing image quality.
Arlo’s magnetic mount is convenient but hopelessly insecure. You can mount the camera out of reach, of course, but will need reasonably easy access to it for charging, if using battery power. The tripod mount is a little more secure but far from thief-proof. Something else to be aware of is that the camera seems to wake up every time movement is detected, even if outside the zones you’ve defined. That will shorten battery life, so take care over where the camera points.
The perfect CCTV camera doesn’t exist. There’s always a compromise. If you need battery operation and don’t mind paying for a subscription, Arlo Ultra 2 is first-rate. It can be mains powered but, If you can mains-connect it, perhaps consider mains-only alternatives. Battery cameras (or at least those I’ve tried) don’t pre-record, to conserve battery life. Consequently, you lose a second or two of the start of detected motion, so mains power is preferable.
Decisions, decisions. I really do like these cameras for the image quality but, by the time you’ve included the hub, they’re very expensive, and then there’s the subscription on top. If you can afford them, don’t hesitate to buy. Otherwise, consider Pro 4 — no hub required and cheaper subscription, but only 2K.
Absloutely fantastic quality and simple to use
Firstly I’ll start with the negatives as there are so little. Let’s get the price out of the way, it is a lot of money but you are definitely getting what you pay for!
It would also be nice if the base station came with built in storage for the price.
Now that’s out of the way these cameras are amazing, the picture quality is better than any camera I’ve used before and I have used loads, I currently run 3 cameras around the house and this Arlo system is the easiest and quickest to set up.
In the video you will see the initial set up of the base station and the ultra camera, I also have the 2k pro for reference in the video.
The whole AI smart stuff works extremely well, I had the garden set to people and animal but disabled movement, the washing blowing on the washing line never set off the alerts but as soon as the dog came out I had an animated alert sent straight to my phones notification panel.
You can configure areas of interest, sensitivity, what to do on detection (lights, alarms).
I love the night vision, not only is the infra-red crystal clear but when sensing a person the lights come on and the camera records in full colour!
The lens can go to an ultra-wide setting which is pretty much 180 without much distortion and the picture quality is amazing for reading number plates.
The base station looks sleek and I have put a 128Gb micro SD card in the bottom which means it records full 4k and I can pull the footage directly from the station negating the need for the subscription.
Everything is compatible with my Google home and I can view all my cameras in the kitchen and on the lounge TV.
2way voice works much better than I expected as it opens a true 2way channel where both people can talk at the same time without feedback.
Battery life seems good, I wouldn’t think it’s 1 years worth due to the amount of alerts I get but in 1 week the battery lost 3% charge which is amazing and charging is done with the magnetic charger so I can charge from a power bank if I don’t want to take the battery out.
Since configuring and using for over a week I have had no false alerts and I’ve been so impressed I’ve been showing the guys in work who are now looking at getting one.
Overall a very expensive but very good security system with so many features you could spend all day getting it perfect.
If you have something of value and you need cameras which are easy to set up and give you great recording and a great experience then these are well worth it!
Good camera and easy to install
Very good quality cameras and easy to install. Requires subscription for best use, which is a little expensive compared to other systems.
Excellent system easy to setup and effective
This system is excellent it comes with two wireless 4k outdoor cameras, a battery a power adapter, a magnetic charge cable, ethernet cable magnetic mounts, two wall mounts and an ultra-smart Hub.
These cameras are 4k Ultra high definition with a 180-degree field of view which allows you to zoom in on anything to see clearer and allows you to mount these cameras much higher than normal ones to cover a greater area. The high-definition video allows you to zoom in perhaps the number plate or the face. The cameras have colored night vision which allows you to see exactly what color car was on your property or the face of a person in great detail. The cameras have a spotlight which is excellent to light up anything in front of the cameras to clear the view. And a alarm as a deterrent if it comes to it but the best feature of these cameras is the battery life it is rated at 12 months one charge should in theory give you around 365 days which is one of the best features of this camera and is absolutely the perfect reason to get these cameras they are sharp, clear, and wire free. I would recommend them.

Fantastic product, great quality, easy to connect up / install. My only problem is battery life. I’ve had to disarm them while at home using the geofencing. Another great option by the way. The motion detection is that good it picks up everything every time and you want it to otherwise it’s missing stuff right?
This uses battery especially at 4k. you can reduce the view 180 to 120 etc and also the picture quality but that kind of takes away the point of buying the top quality cameras. We had the family round all sat in the back garden and with it detecting movement all day it killed the camera in a day. Which isn’t a problem but like I say I’ve now disarmed them while at home but what if somebody damages my property while their disarmed and I don’t see them. You’ve basically got 3 white blobs on the wall for nothing at 500. I think I’ll get the solar panels for them but then that kind of ruins the aesthetics and you might as well of just got wired cameras. Fantastic product but battery technology just isn’t there yet. Will not last anywhere near 6months unless you have them switch off all the time.

Make Sure You Get The Latest Version (Ultra2)
This is one of those CCTV camera systems that seem to have a lot of reviewers disagreeing on how good (or bad) it really is.
It is important to note that there is an earlier version of this set (Ultra), perhaps that is where some of the problems and confusion arise from. I do seem to have received the “latest” edition from Amazon, and Arlo does seem to have learned lessons. I would, however, advise caution, a quick look on a popular online auction site as well as here on the Amazon marketplace will show others selling this set for hundreds of pounds cheaper. I would suggest that if you see a “really good deal” you ask the seller to confirm the model number to ensure it’s not the old version.
Putting all that to one side, I do feel that this Arlo Ultra2 Wireless CCTV Camera System is really good! The cameras have a great range of features that you don’t tend to find on other cheaper systems and set-ups. Everything was easy to set up and get to grips with, and you WILL be impressed with the picture quality (even when zoomed in.) The set is well designed with plenty of attention paid to detail and usibility. Yes, it seems expensive, but the set is robust and suitable for so many security solutions. It won’t let you know, and personally, I’ve not had any of the problems others have mentioned with battery life. If you are, then consider turning off the cameras when you’re at home (if you don’t need them on all the time.)

High Quality Image
This is by far the best Arlo camera. Image is clear even when zoomed; number plates clearly readable. There is a delay which means the tracking function is not as useful as might be imagined. As my camera is above easy reach I have a wired connection to keep the battery charged. From experience this is highly desirable if not essential unless in a location with little activity and the camera is easily accessible.
4K Quality is great but connecting them was bit hard.

Positives: The box came nicely packed in triple box two cardboard and one itself camera box.
Two cameras, Two batteries, One charger for both cameras, One power plug and cable for the hub station, and one hub station. Everything was packed very nicely.
When I got this in June I installed the app and then tried to connect it for doing this I connected the ethernet wire and power cable with my router and the power with the power socket.
It was obvious to connect the hub station first it showed blue light once and did not connect after that.
We spent half a day trying to restart everything. To be fair it was very frustrating.
Then I post a question on the amazon page and they answered me I followed their steps but I misunderstood the reset button and that is not my fault. I almost decided to send it back but I thought of calling customer care once.
I didn’t want to deal with the waiting in the phone call.
When I called them it was super quick their options are very fast to choose and within a minute i was connected to customer care and in between my call got disconnected they called me back.
He helped me to reset everything. Now it’s all working.
4K camera quality is good. It covers most of the area. Battery life seems to be good but we will see that.
The motion sensor is really amazing night vision is fine too. The cameras are a very good size.
Negative: Stabilising a connection was between hub and router very frustrated but I suggested to call them if you are struggling we did not do that on time.
The problem is the reset button is so tiny you need a paper pin to reset it that’s just make everything complicated because all the steps are already written on the website or just google page but it is hard to find the reset button.
The app is very handy and awesome but connecting a hub station with an ethernet cable is not my cup of tea. SInce it is so expensive they might improve t with wifi connection I don’t want to have cables next to the router.
Finally, I am glad all is working now. I think except for having cables around the router I like everything about this cameras now. I wish I had called them before.
Professional CCTV system for easy DIY install
The video footage recorded is of amazing quality, the 4k resolution makes it possible to capture high quality detailed video which you can zoom in and still look amazing. The app is easy to use and the installation is guided by step by step photo with the Arlo phone app.
There is no wires needed to install the cameras, just drill a hole for a screw for the magnetic mount, once secured just place the camera onto the magnetic mount and adjust the angle. You can have the live feed running while moving the camera to see it real time.
The Arlo Ultra2 can also be used a an alarm system. Each of the camera have built in 2 way audio and also a siren. You can activate the siren or set up motion detection and sound the siren upon motion detection etc. Each camera comes with spot light function, bright enough to use as flood light and the intensity of the LED can be adjusted to conserve battery. To charge the battery you can simply use a power bank to power the magnetic cable, touch the base of the camera with the magnetic end and it will click firmly in place and start charging. Battery life depends on the number of activation it gets and also the intensity setting for the spotlight. I find heavy traffic front door need a recharge every 3-4 weeks and the one in the garden can last 3-4 months per charge.
The camera is connect to the base station wirelessly, it needs to be close by to transfer large amount of video data such as 4k videos. Through 1 wall and at 15m it start to obtain blotchy video and starting to cut out etc. It was still working but the footage is not perfect. The only negative I have is that there is only 1 magnetic cable and they are expensive to buy.

great camera let down a little by the software my devices are all apple and there’s always something daly going wrong little things that shouldn’t be a problem like incorrect battery charge status and mysterious disconnection with the arlo base station I have a essentials camera connected to and that goes out in sync with the arlo 2 that can now connect via 5ghz
Arlo Ultra 2
Camera footage is very good but getting the Base station in a position to get a good signal with all four cameras has been an issue. Even with a direct line of sight one camera has a poor connection which affects it connection speed.
Don’t believe the battery life. If numerous detections daily are expected the batteries will not last for 6 months between charges. I have attached permanant power supplies to mine so thats a substancial extra cost.

So, the Arlo Ultra 2.
I’ve now used this system for 1 month, alongside their doorbell.
The cameras are all wireless- totally wireless, but I found using 4K resolution meant the battery lasts 2-3 weeks, NOT 6 months. I ended up buying solar panels for them a good choice, because doing so means at least the south facing cameras are always at 100%. This was an additional 100 cost for the 3 cameras.
Image quality is good but there is a significant delay to notification of about 10 seconds – not ideal. More widely, for reasons only known to Arlo, they have to connect to the Arlo Hub. The hub has some plus points – such as a Micro SD slot for on premise image storage, but it mostly means if you have thick walls or a big house you might need an additional router, at another 100.
The on board AI is good, it can differentiate between animals and humans and does only alert when relevant, however it does sometimes miss notifications. This is bad because if it doesn’t identify something to record, you have no recording. I am disappointed they don’t have always on recording.
So, why 4 stars? Well, convenience is good, fully wireless cameras that work. The connectivity could be better and always on recording means I drop a star.
These are expensive and premium but they do work.
My only last gripe? Subscription cost is very high after the initial trial… You pay a lot for convenience
Is it really 4K?
Another Arlo product of a high quality and kept standards can be seen with this set of CCTV. 3 cameras, Wi-Fi, 4K and possibility of adding additional cameras was stunning at first sight.
Whole set came nicely packed and in surprisingly small box when all equipment mentioned is included. That said this is compact and modern CCTV surveillance kit.
As usually Arlo includes clear and straightforward instructions. As it is slightly extended set, some IT knowledge would be required to finish whole set up, but it is possible for anyone to do it with a little bit of effort.
3 cameras included were enough to cover almost whole area around the house and I believe it would be enough to cover any smaller office or workshop.
All the features work very well but I am not sure how close this is to 4K video. From the live stream it looks a bit less than 4K but still beyond any other CCTV quality used before.
Last but not least to mention is 6-months battery life. Over a month in usage of the set and it is still up and running with no issues. Full life of it is to be seen in upcoming months.
Overall modern and quality CCTV set with many features to cover all major needs.

Arlo Ultra 2 - very impressive kit!
Only had these up and running for 48hrs but so far very impressed. Took less than 30 minutes from un-boxing to having them up and running. Picture quality is fantastic and the night vision is really impressive also. The 6 month battery life is unrealistic if you are running these on maximum display etc, but no real hardship charging them more often. Very happy with these Ultra 2’s.
