I’m so glad I chose this. I didn’t know what to expect as I’d never had a laptop before as I always just used my phone. I didn’t realise so much would already be there when I signed in. So in a lot of ways, it’s like a large mobile phone. If you have a Google account then it’s already there. Just so simple!

This appears to be a well made and sturdy piece of kit, the down side to this is it’s quite heavy. This is not an issue as far as I am concerned, but worth a mention. The screen is fine colours are bright and well colourful. Keyboard is light to the touch and easy to use. Both the mouse pad and touch screen are very accurate and easy to use. This sums it up really, easy to use! That’s all I want. Well worth the money.

Bought this to upgrade my wife’s laptop and found it easy to set up and operate. Very pleased with this purchase.

At times it is difficult to see which key is which but was easy to set up . Am still getting used to using Google as this has replaced my iPad but so far no complaints

So I brought this to replace my MacBook which recently stopped working. I can’t compare the two as it’s chalk and cheese. HOWEVER this laptop is fab. Not only is it versatile, the battery holds well and it’s the perfect size.

    I would 100% recommend this

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersBought this for someone doing their GCSEs. Previous laptop was a very high-spec ThinkPad but this beats it on at least two counts; weight & battery life.
Most schools (and web-based computing) does not require installed apps so a Chromebook is perfect. If you do need something outside of a web/cloud interface, there are plenty of apps on the app store.
Lots of nice touches; illuminated keys, form factor (wide-screen), hinge that opens to 180 allows for “tablet-mode” or “Cinema-Stand” modes. Very good build, but would recommend a hardshell case (as I do for anyone with a laptop!)

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI bought this to try out a Chromebook because I was sick of Microsoft. I’m very impressed it does most of what I want it to do. The screen is clear and sharp, the touchscreen is good with just the right amount of pressure to make it work well, it does a flip which turns it into tablet whilst shutting off the keyboard and that works very well. The keyboard has a nice feel to it, but I hate mouse pads albeit this one works as advertised. I bought a thumb ball mouse which is brilliant. The machine is quite fast, I rarely see any lag very fast startup and shutdown. good selection of USB connectors, an SD card reader, and a headphone socket. A small amount of apps don’t work yet, but the vast majority do, I guess with more use I’ll work out the issues but so far nothing major. I bought the 4gb /128gb and its perfectly satisfactory for light use (spreadsheets and document edits) graphic work maybe need the better specified machine. Couple of I think Chromebook issues. everything goes to the cloud until you make sure you specify a different location, the Bluetooth particularly on Sony earbuds is unusable but I’m still looking into that issue, key board delete key is missing (but just use alt backspace), there’s the ever present AUE date (auto update expiry date) where after 6-8 years you’ll no longer get updates which is a personal bugbear but to be fair after 8 years I’ll have updated anyway to a new machine anyway so not sure its a big issue. I’m very happy with my purchase it , I tried buying another two for my grandchildren but they were sold out and ended up with the equivalent Lenovo which is very good too. The Asus machine works for me and I can see the day quite soon when I get weaned off Microsoft. Good buy, try it I think, as I do, you’ll like it, but be prepared to learn how to use Chromebooks they are neither windows or Android.

Update: the keyboard back-light could be a bit of problem in some light conditions but then I found that using alt and the screen brightness keys changed the brightness on the keys. I now use the keyboard either fully bright or light off. If you’re having trouble seeing the keys, try this. Printers can be a bit of an issue depending on the model of printer. I have a kyocera laser printer and it works seamlessly but I also have a Canon MX490 which the chromebook can see but I can’t get it to work. The Canon printer app starts but then immediately shuts down. AUE date on this machine is June 2026.

Love this chromebook. Bought it as a replacement owing to a damaged screen. Liked it so much I bought a second one for myself. Only downside is the screen doesnt get as bright as the previous one

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersOK, so I got this to replace my tablet, it kept falling over on the bed — step in Chromebook… so first thing it doesn’t fall over on the bed, the speakers are stereo and not too bad, I personally think they are better than most other laptops.
POWER – gets a full day if you are using it for light tasks, obviously if you play games ( which work really well ) then less
SCREEN – great resolution, seems pretty bright. Bit of a finger print magnet, but I find that some hand sanitiser with a micro fibre cloth gets rid of that in a few seconds.
CHARGING – It has a 45w usb-c charger and doesn’t take long to charge, I used my 25w Samsung phone charger on it and it worked well, so if I take it out and need to some juice I can use my Samsung charger for phone and Chromebook.
CHROMEOS + ANDROID- The operating system is fast and smooth, playstore v9 so not all apps from the playstore are compatible/available.
This particular ASUS laptop is a little tricky to open but you get the knack for it. 4gb RAM, 128gb storage with micro sd slot, 2 USB-C ports and 1 USB, 1 headphone output.
I see from other reviews that they use it for daily task like email and Internet – this is perfect for that, quick boot up and my phone unlocks it with the fingerprint, probably as fast as my tablet.
MY USE – I have connected a PS5 GAME CONTROLLER and headphones via Bluetooth, you can’t run Steam on this but you can play Steam games using GeForce Now.
Games from the playstore work well, only a select few have controller support.
Stadia worked well but is closing down.

This is an awesome bit of kit. My 9 year old loves the fact that it flips and the touch screen is a bloody marvellous and super easy to use. The set up was easy and she hasn’t put it down since Christmas day.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have used a few ChromeBooks over the years, and while they have been interesting, I have never felt the need to keep using them. They usually end up in the cupboard for a year before being sold off again and get very little use.
The C433TA though is a great device. The battery life is decent, and the screen is lovely.
I have the 8GB RAM, Intel i5 version, and you can tell the difference in performance – more than speedy enough for everything I have thrown at it. I enabled developer mode and am running Linux on it, allowing me to install the more work-focused tools I need. Grabbing apps from the Google Play Store is also useful, but the experience is still a bit janky (windowed apps, limited keyboard support, etc.).

I am unsure if it supports an active stylus, which I still need to test…although I doubt it does.

For the price, I have really enjoyed using this as a second home laptop and find myself returning to it much more than I expected. One to keep, I think…

    Pros:
    – Lovely screen
    – Nice keyboard layout (although I still prefer a ‘normal’ keyboard with all the keys)
    – Good battery life
    – Fast to boot (and reset – PowerWash)
    – Decent enough audio for the price
    – Amazing build quality
    – Nice big trackpad

    Cons:
    – No fingerprint reader / biometrics
    – White writing on silver keyboard – makes it almost impossible to see the letters when the backlight is on
    – Power button location (on the side)

Make sure you know that a chromebook works off apps and is different from normal laptops. It’s like having giant phone. It’s crashed on me a few times but I think that’s more the apps crashing than the computer. Would recommend it.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersScreen quality is OK Touchscreen is very good and responsive. Screen is brighter unless you compare with different good brands.

Keyboard has worst keys for unseen or professional typing and at night you won’t be able to see keys or type unless the room light is on. I won’t advise anyone needs it for professional typing.

Sound system and quality loud but not stereo.

This laptop is OK if you are not fussy but everything is under quality.

    Battery life is amazing.

    Good Mid Range laptop

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis Asus computer is the best computer I have bought. I was unsure purchasing a Google software computer but I am pleasantly surprised how well this unit has performed.
The touch screen is excellent, screen quality and brightness are both excellent.
Only downfall in adverse light it’s a little difficult seeing the actual keyboard key letters. They need to be any other colour than grey.

Other than that excellent machine for the money.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI cannot praise this Asus Flipbook more highly. I own and have used both Apple and Microsoft machines, all of my adult life.
At 80 I wanted a light, general purpose, easy to use, with a touch screen, replacement for several laptops and pads!
This does everything I need now. The odd documents, the web, and mail. Excellent.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBesides this is a nice and handy little thing, it restarted several times for me totally unexpectedly.
There’s another problem for my eyes which is the keyboard illumination. It doesn’t illuminate the background of the keys like my Vaio, but the letters and it doesn’t give the desired contrast on the bright keyboard. Although it is good in darkness but disturbing during the day – and I haven’t found any option to turn it off. If you are a better typist and/or your eyesight is better than mine, it shouldn’t be a problem for you….

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThe Chromebook always runs at a very fast speed which is very good. The sound quality is amazing and very loud, but the only problem with it is that the speakers are at the bottom of the Chromebook, so when in tablet mode it is slightly quieter but is still much louder than other laptops. The touchscreen is of a good quality and has always worked well for me. The reason why I have given it 4 stars is because of the Chromebook keys in contrast to the metal frame. The letters on the keys do light up automatically as it gets darker, but because the main body of the keyboard is a silver colour, the white letters don’t always show that well on them. This is only a few times however. As shown in the picture I have attached, you can see them well most of the time.

    Decent price for the quality

I bought this monitor for my wife to help her working abroad and she has been using for almost 3 months now and it is working great. Image quality is very good and it also light which is perfect for being on the move.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI use it all the time. It meets my needs. I have a main computer but I wanted a laptop that could power up quickly, access files and that I could use apps on. This meets all my requirements. Very happy with the purchase. Good quality piece of equipment.

Golden Review Award: 43 From Our UsersLet me be clear, ‘premium experience’ is subjective, so let me add my perspective. I wanted a Chromebook for browsing, web-based learning, and video streaming when working away. I was clear I wanted a good spec but didn’t want to over-spec for my needs.

I travel a lot for work and wanted a laptop-type experience, complete with keyboard, but with the ease of use and app availability of the Google Play store. Many lower priced Chromebooks feature lesser-spec processors and less RAM than this Asus Chromebook. To be equipped with an i5 processor and 8GB RAM at this price point (399 paid) is very impressive. When researching equivalent specifications I was surprised to find this to be at least a couple of hundred pounds less expensive than those models from Lenovo or Google (the Pixelbook).

I’ve found the Asus to be fast to book, able to multi-task, great for streaming services and online learning (LinkedIn Learning), and working on Google Office applications. The Asus has no problems multi-tasking and I haven’t seen and performance impact of running multiple apps at once.

Battery life is adequate but don’t be fooled by the headline figures. If you run the screen on a brighter setting this will have a significant impact on how long the battery lasts. Screen brightness seems to have more of an impact than the number of processes being run.

Whilst I mention the screen, the spec is consistent among Chromebooks and the image quality is crisp with good brightness and contrast. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love a better resolution in a screen of this size, but in this form and at this price point it is unrealistic to expect more.

Overall construction is good. The Chromebook certainly isn’t the lightest ever, but the weigh is the trade off for the construction materials. The screen hinges seem well made and robust but only time will tell how robust they are.

All told I’m very impressed with this device. If you can snag it with a discount as I did then you’re all the better for it. But equally I wouldn’t be too upset had I paid the retail price at the time of writing this review. Unless you have a specific need for a feature or specification of a more expensive Chromebook I recommend you save your pennies and opt for this excellent all-rounder.

Golden Review Award: 21 From Our UsersI was sceptical, having used Windows most of my life on laptops and Android on my phones. However, I was struggling to use an Amazon FIRE 10 tablet for lightweight laptop work… so bought this during an offer. I’m impressed!
The laptop itself feels good quality, metal frame, rather than cheap creaky plastic you might get on cheaper models. The screen is bright and good quality, as is the keyboard.

The ONLY thing to let this down is the letters on the keys can be hard to see in dark-ish light, as the lettering is a dark grey on light grey keys (the dark grey lights up, but it only really effective in really dark conditions). If you can touch-type, it’s OK.. but it will be frustrating otherwise. There may be an option to turn up the keyboard brightness I’ve yet to find it..

I use this as my daily laptop now and of course, it integrates really well with Gmail and all the other Google Play apps I typically use for social media/browsing/email and other things. Streaming music to Chromecast works a treat too, even using Amazon Music app.

Although this is the M3 version, it doesn’t seem to slow down and I opted for the TA version to get 128G of storage, as I wanted to use it to download movies for when I travel.

Well done ASUS and Google for making an excellent product!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersVery good value for 400, is well made, and worth that amount. My only slight issue is the print of the letters on keys don’t stand out enough. In saying that, would buy again and recommend to others
