Working as intended and easy to get started, I guess there are some things that have changed on the software side since it was first released but that’s only for the better. Bought it for my kid who’s streaming Nintendo Switch (among other things) on YouTube, and he has used it more or less daily since he got it without any hiccups.

I use an internal capture card but this is a great backup or alternative if I am on the move. Avermedia capture cards have tainted my love affair with elgato and in both internal and external application hands down annihilated their offerings.

If you are looking for hassle free high performance go with this or the Avermedia Live gamer DUO!!!

Although this collection box is expensive, it can still afford its price. Believe me, 4K collection boxes within 100 yuan on the market usually only use USB2 0 line, even if they mark 3.0, there will still be fraud. At the same time, the difference between collecting boxes lies in whether they are directly looped out. If you only have two laptops, it’s absolutely cost-effective to buy it, because you can’t achieve synchronous compression within 100 yuan.

After using an early version of another brand that sounds like a chocolate cake, starts with E and ends with O, I was looking for something that could record a stream in 4k and after reading some reviews tried this one. Well worth it, works great. Using it on a Mac and setup is instant without anything installed. I suggest getting the free software OBS as its much more flexible than the included software, but the included stuff is a good starting point. It lets you record, save or stream to a number of sources. But was difficult to set up the live stream while OBS worked a bit easier and live streaming was super simple. Anyway, quality is great, simple to use and set up, stream in resolutions and hz up to 4k 60 as it says on the box. Love i

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBest capture card I’ve ever owned, had Elgato original game capture HD since it come out, became “defunct” after purchasing next gen console as Elgato doesn’t support the 120fps on that model simple price to what I paid that time ago but avermedia offered up to 240hz! So it’s next gen proof and then some!

    I run i7-8th Gen
    32gb Ram
    1tb nvme SSD
    4gb nvidia 1650 ti

Honestly, hands down it’s flawless let’s me use my 144hz monitor and output 120fps as a pass through and record/stream in as close to that at 1920/1080p60fps

Trust me before you buy use the Avermedia Diagnosis Tool, if it ticks the box on everything green but states the graphics card might be problematic, use common sense, if it’s 2gb+ then it’ll be fine!

    Thanks!

I am a content creator on youtube, twitch and other sites.
This capture card is perfect for what I need
I have used so many capture cards over the years and I have always returned to my AVerMedia products as a benchmark against other card and they always come out head and shoulders above the other brands

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this and found the features to be great, robust, and easy to use. The Avermedia software works well with a sweet of tools to use as a standalone if you are not looking to use with OBS or another streaming tool.

I choose this card due to the pass-through features. As I play competitively online I wanted to limit the input lag for streaming which I have been limited to on some Elgato and Hauppauge Capture cards I’ve purchased in the past.

As I am playing at 1440p at 144hz this is the perfect range for my current setup and I am also able to record the 1440p 144hz easily without any impact to my gaming.

This card is also well placed in terms of value with 4K HRD recording features (gameplay capture set at 4K60hrz – record 4K30Hrz) which will be great for the next generation consoles coming out this November/December 2020.

Please keep in mind that you will need a pc or laptop to use this capture card. & and USB extension cables you use will not work so the device will need to be close to the PC/Laptop.

Overall a Great Product for Streaming and Game Capture

My Avermedia LGP LITE died after 4 years and I needed a replacement! I tried the Elgato HD60+ that claimed no latency but that wasn’t the case so got this instead! I’m glad I did!
The GC553 is small and easy to set up, the only thing I miss is a physical record button that the LGP LITE Had!
I connected my Xbox One X to it and set it to 4k 30 and it ran flawlessly through the software and I could play it from the program! I will be using this card from now on on my YouTube channel Sexy Biscuit! Very impressed

Have been using this for a few weeks now for live streaming and it does a pretty good job. Installation was easy and it has been reliable. The only small issue is, as others have said, there is some latency of a few hunderd ms but this is easily compensated for in teh streaming software.

    Absolutely recommend.
I was hesitating when looking for other comments regarding the compatibility of iOS system (having mac book), but after a while and some more studies, I found that iOS version and all the settings should match the requirements. So there you go! and I am totally satisfied with it!
I have used it since a while, around I guess more than 50 days. I have to say this card brought really stunning user experiences. I don’t even feel the latency at all and it’s just running smoothly every time when I went live streaming.

Good product and I think the price is definitely worth it.

    Good deal

I had elgato’s product before, but the streaming quality got worse after 6 months of usage (not sure if it’s the internet speed or the device itself), later I decided to make a survey on a new one as I finally got my Nintendo Switch (thank God). After reading mess of online reviews and influencer’s articles, I placed an order for this AVerMeida’s GC553. This little box is really powerful ! According to my audience’s feedback, the quality of my last 5 live streams with new card were really good !! (Sure thing that my Internet speed is ok) So far I have tested Mario Kart 8 on Switch and Call of Duty on PS4, and no problem at all on both of the 2 games and platforms. Amazing recording and none-latency performance, will definitely recommend it to gamers.

This device is the distillation of simplicity and usability. Anyone can easily understand and use this device. Video capture has come a looong way since I started doing it years ago with FireWire (what a headache that was), and I’ve been using Elgato and Razor’s products, both of them didn’t meet the satisfaction ( I have high-speed connection). This device is the distillation of simplicity and usability, no problem at all with my Nintendo Switch. Anyone can easily understand and use this AVerMedia device. Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAfter checked hundreds of reviews, communicated with some Twitch streamers, I decided to choose GC553 since I really need a good 4K passthrough capture card. It’s very easy to connect and setup, the CyberLink video editing tool is also useful to me. Under my system : Intel i7 8th Gen. 8550U, 16GB DDR3, GeForce MX150, 256G SSD, Windows 10 64bit Home, it runs pretty smoothly, so far. The By using RECentral software to record in HDR mode is one of the most amazing feature to me, with my PS4, I only need to perform some minor adjustment, then the picture quality is quite perfect. Recommend this tiny card to both beginner and professional level streamers.

Had a MacBook Pro 2019 “15 and it didn’t work with it since the USB inputs on that Mac laptop were 3.1 USB buses. On the Avermedia website it said it wasn’t compatible with USB 3.1 only USB 3.0 (which was a bummer since I didn’t know until I got the product. I probably could’ve gotten a 3.0 USB hub but luckily I already had a spare windows laptop. I downloaded a software called “RECentral” and “OBS” but I only use OBS to stream. I also had to update the firmware of the Ultra by using the Assist Central (on their website).

(Edit: it does work with a 3.0 USB Hub on a MacBook, and you can download “RECentral” “OBS” and “Assist Central”)

As a deep video gamer, I’ve been forced to stay at home for days, which is kind of benefit to me. Read an article on PCGAMER and found that AVerMedia has some badass streaming devices so I ordered one from Amazon. Delviery was extremely fast ( thanks to Amazon), and started my first live gaming streaming video. I didn’t get into any trouble in connecting with my MBP and xbox. Asked my cousin as my first audience and test the video quality, he said there’s no latency at all and the video is turely streaming with 4K quality, which is surprising me because I have followed other live gamers’ channels, and many of them have latency on streaming which make me think it’s my bandwidth’s problem. But now I know it’s the problem of the quality of capture card. Will highly recommand live gamers this product.

Needed a usb capture card (mounted under the desk) for an itx build as you only have 1 pcie lane for the graphics card, the card it self is small and compact doesn’t take up much room on the desk, it was practically plug and play, connected the card to my dedicated rec/streaming PC via the usb 3.1 cable then connected my gaming rig to the box via HDMI and cloned the display to my 1440p 144hz monitor loaded up OBS Studio and added video capture source and OBS detected it straight away no drivers needed!! (Windows 10) such a great alternative to the much much more expensive capture cards really am impressed and happy with my purchase and recommend it to anybody who wants to use a dual PC setup! rather than using Newteks OBS NDI.

I’m pretty good at video games so joined the band wagon to become the next shroud. Very easy to use and works well with a 4k tv as you dont loose pic quality. Would download obs to capture the footage though! Check out some footage on my YouTube (link in bio) and you’ll see how well it works

Was very close to returning this due to me thinking it wasn’t working or was broken. Had many issues setting this up, it’s hard to even find the software you need since the site is mostly chinese. It’s not clear how to setup streaming or anything, but once you get it working it’s golden and quality is great. If anything happens i will change my review but the missing 1 star is due to how poor the guide is.

I love this product, no doubt about it. Its major setback is just the fact that the link to instructions is incorrect, and only takes you to the home screen of their website. I f you are looking for how to set up one of these, I’d just recommend searching up the name of the product, it comes up a lot faster!

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI have an Xbox one x and have been looking for a capture device for a while and I bought the GC513 and found it didn’t work well with my console so I got this and haven’t looked back not only does it pass through HDR but it captures it too. You can stream easily too and lag is near until detectable to the eye. Works really well with my gaming laptop. Only one negative is the software bundled in is very restricted and tries to make you upgrade any time you try to access 4k captures you have made

I have a LG 4k HDR monitor. I used have to downscale the video output to 1080P since I’m streaming my gameplay on my PC simultaneously, but this capture card just eliminates this problem.
Yes, you can output to a 4K HDR monitor with 4K HDR, and simultaneously output to a PC with whatever resolution you want. Just like advertised, you don’t have to sacrifice the resolution anymore!
    Great job done Avermedia.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAwesome bit of tech for keeping that 4k experience while streaming / recording. (Not it does not record or stream in 4k, it’s just a pass through if your wondering). Easy to set up, no issues getting it to run through OBS, and it’ll grab your po arty audio as well. Only thing you should know is that you can’t charge your controller while streaming as it’ll mess up your chat with background static, however that’s a party chat / controller issue, and not AVERMEDIAs device.

  31. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

A lot of hassle getting it working, needed to contact support to do so, just a shame so much tech nowadays doesn’t just work out of the box, party chat option sounds terrible on this and for those reasons I have taken a star away.

  32. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

My only negative would be a lack of instructions, but support via Facebook have been really communicative in helping me get the product to work. The product does work with a Mac but do ensure you have an i5 processor and better or it just won’t work properly – it needs the specs it specifies.

Once working the product is great, the picture is really clear and setting it up and taking it down again is a really easy process. Plus, having the ability to record party chat through the device is a really great USP.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf like me you were wanting to stream and capture footage but not compromise on 4k visuals than you can’t go wrong with this device. The only negative aspect is the LGP 2+ does not pass through HDR, so if you upgraded your TV recently to capatalise on the advanced features of the X or even S you will miss out on that.
