I bought my first pair about four years ago. At first I found a blister on my heel but realised I was wearing the wrong socks. Since then very happy they are comfortable waterproof and long-lasting I have only bought another pair in readiness for when they wear out.

These beautifully made boots are a joy to wear. The slim profile suits my feet and I am wearing them with two soft pairs of socks ( I am normally a size 4 1/2 but opted for the 5 to accommodate warmer winter socks). More importantly I have worn them daily ( a good 5miles each day) on water sodden paths and through soaking grass and my feet are DRY! Today I wore them in the rain and my feet were the only dry part of me! I am so pleased that I have purchased a second pair today.

These shoes lasted 18 months. I wore them a lot and put them through a lot. They were really uncomfortable to start off with and took weeks to wear in. Towards the end, the inside back of the right shoe started disintegrating and something sharp kept rubbing my heel. Overall, they were fine, but like other reviewers, I think I expected more from them. This is because they were nowhere near as good as Berghaus walking boots, which are incredible, really comfy and last years.

Good to get a narrow size fit in a walking shoe that comes in a half size . They are quite comfortable, I’m sure once I’ve worn them a few more times they will be great .

Used Amazon Wardrobe to try out 5 pairs of waterproof boots for hiking. These came out on top for comfort and lightness. Have done several walks now in wet and very muddy conditions and been very happy with my choice.

Best outdoor shoes I’ve ever owned. Feet are always dry and warm. Comfortable and supportive. Got a half size bigger than normal and at first thought they were too big, but once walking, glad I went for the larger size as feet seem to comfortably grow into them. Perfect!

I am on my third pair now. They are waterproof, they last a long time and they fit well. Unlike other trainers, these just wear away with time as you would expect rather than fail by, say, the soles falling off. They are expensive but not ludicrously so and are good value for money as they will outlast other makes that are half the price by three times as much.

Excellent product, what a shame we can’t produce things like this in the UK.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI have enormous difficulty in finding shoes which fit well, especially on line. Whilst these shoes do not fit exactly, they are the best fit I have ever found, even in shops when there was still a great deal of choice and it was still possible to try shoes on before buying. These walking shoes are genuinely waterproof, and a little hard to the touch as a result; however with more wear I expect that they will soften a little as the shoes gradually acquire the shape of my feet. The shoes are warm in the cold weather. I am very pleased with them, and anticipate that they will last some considerable time, although time alone will tell.

Although I haven’t done a long walk in these yet they are stylish, love the colour and feel very comfortable. They are quite expensive but I’m hoping I’ll get lots of wear out of them for a very long time given the price. I have had berghaus clothing before and it’s lasted me years so am hopeful it’ll be the same for the shoes

I use hiking shoes for more than 20 years and by far, this one is the best one of them all. It’s incredibly light if compared to previous models and it’s also very comfortable, since the first wear.

I liked it so much that when I need a new pair of hiking boots I’ll check if they have a boot in a similar model.

Far superior to the Mieli that they replaced. Very comfortable and perfect fit. Too early to rate durability. Good grip in wet conditions.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersReally comfortable and robust shoes. No need to ‘break them in’. I go for long walks everyday and my normal trainers were giving me blisters, so I thought I ought to treat myself to a decent pair of walking shoes. Glad I did, as these are brilliant.

Really pleased with them so far though haven’t tested the weatherproofing as yet. They look to be very well made indeed and are very comfortable not requiring any breaking in and were at a great price.

Pretty decent but a fraction large, I’m not convinced that the right one is slightly longer than the left one….

Having started a new job recently where I have a lot of walking, kneeling and flexing my feet, I needed a great pair of shoes.
I had several pairs in my Amazon compare and these ticked all the boxes … but the price …. For me spending almost 100 on one pair of shoes is unheard of.
BUT….. I bit the bullet and purchased them and I’m so happy I did.
The first hour of wearing these shoes was a bit painful, but not in the typical new shoe rubbing way.
They were painful because for the first time in years I was wearing a pair of shoes that supported my feet in the right way. After a few hours I’m happy to say these shoes are now so comfortable to wear. They support and cushion my feet in all the right places. They feel lightweight and don’t rub or slip when walking.
A huge bonus is that the laces STAY done up too.
These shoes are meant to be waterproof too, which was another ‘must have’ on my list. So far it’s not rained since I’ve had the shoes so I can’t comment on that yet.

What I can say is that these shoes are great to wear, they look stylish as well as being functional.
The grip on the soles is fantastic as well, no more slips or slides on polished floors. You can really feel the shoe gripping the surface as you walk.
These are also great to drive in, not clunky or bulky and they flex beautifully when either driving or kneeling down.
Would I recommend these shoes to someone who walks a lot with their job … YES
Would I recommend these shoes to someone who likes a lot of support for their feet …. YES
Do I think they are worth the price …. YES
I will be buying a second pair very shortly.

I have a pair of berghaus hiking boots which are excellent, so when it came to getting a pair of walking shoes there was no contest, berghaus again for me. They were ordered 3 days ago for my birthday and they arrived Sunday evening, that is some service.

We bought these walking shoes as I already have Berghaus walking boots and my husband has not had Berghaus shoes before. He is extremely pleased with the fit and comfort of the shoes and I know they will wear exceptionally well from my experience.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersFirst time with Berghaus footwear and would thoroughly recommend this walking shoe. Shoe feels solid yet lightweight with good traction on soles. Accurate sizing, however like previous reviews I can confirm these shoes are a narrow fit which suits me perfectly. If you have a broader foot and or want to wear thick socks I’d suggest ordering a different style or brand. Competitive price!

The most comfortable walking shoe I have ever purchased. Waterproof, lightweight and great for day to day wear, urban walking or getting out in the countryside. Unlike many other outdoor boots, these are lightweight and perfect for driving in. In fact they were so good that I bought a pair for my Dad for Christmas.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent walking shoes and really comfortable. I really researched walking shoes and tried on many brands however Bergaus were for me the most comfortable and didn’t need bedding in as many do. I have wide feet and it is becoming more difficult to find a wide fit shoe without going for a bigger size and that means your feet slide forward when walking downhill and cause problems with your toes. Time will tell how they fair for longevity but so far so good.

These shoes were marginally too narrow for me initially, I went 1/2 a size up and they fit perfectly. The process of swapping the smaller pair for the larger was extremely quick and easy.

Quality shoe from a quality brand. Very comfortable indeed. Have walked in these at pace for some distance and no issues whatsoever. Longevity unknown at present but berghaus have a good reputation.

Very good build quality, has lasted very well so far, it’s ware resistance is good for rain and wet grass (not prolonged usage in such conditions though). The only disappointing thing is that the shoe laces they come with are quite annoying because they untying quite easily and no matter how much I tying them hard they won’t stay that way for long.

  25. Anonymous says:

There are very comfortable shoes. I ordered one size bigger initially but i had to return as my correct size uk 7 fits perfectly. The only problem I had was the laces which does not stay laced after half a mile walk. I have to purchase after market laces to get the full comfort of the shoes, otherwise perfect shoes.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAlready had a pair this time last year in Black Friday. Remember to order a size 0.5 larger and you won’t be disappointed. Very comfortable and quite light. Ordered another pair on Black Friday only to find that Amazon one week later had dropped the price by another 35. But give them their due, rather than me sending straight back the pair I had and claiming a refund and then reordering at the lower price they immediately refunded the difference. One of the big advantages of buying from Amazon direct … hail Jeff Bezos for great customer service!

I usually buy Berghaus as they always fit me straight out of the box. These were no exception. Nice and light though really sturdy, they proved themselves on some craggy rocks during our hikes around Menorca.

Took these up to Lake District with me and did a lot of walking including climbing up mountains and stepping through streams. These performed admirably and were very comfortable and didn’t let any water in. Highly recommended.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese boots offer fantastic support and are comfortable from the first time of wearing, although I still put them through their paces ahead of a long hike to avoid problems. The laces are a little slippery and needed to be double knotted but that is a minor issue.

Overall, these feel great on the feet, are lightweight but supportive, very comfortable and are even good for driving.

So comfortable! I’m usually a size 10 but had to go a half size up. 10.5 fits perfectly and these shoes are good to go straight from the box – no breaking in required. Have done me well so far this summer – beach, family walks, 3 days at Legoland Billund (wallet aches, feet fine). Waterproof, light weight, non slip sole – very pleased!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe quality looks great, I can’t see why they won’t last for ages. Very comfortable and feel like I’ve had them for ages. I have wide feet and I’m a small 9, large 8.5 and they fit with room for big socks without feeling like they are too big with regular socks – perfect for me but if you have narrow feet they might be classed as loose fitting.
    Very happy with them.

I purchased these shoes at the last minute, prior to a visit to the Norwegian Fjords, and I’m so pleased I did. For gentle hikes up to glaciers and walking around towns and villages (often in heavy rain), they were perfect. For intensive hikes, boots would be more suitable, but they were ideal for my requirements. I’m always nervous of buying shoes online without being able to try them on first, but these Expeditor’s were a perfect fit. They are very comfortable, I think they look good (predominantly black and grey, with touches of red and blue), and they are most definitely waterproof! Recommended.

My previous Berghaus boots are also 9.5 UK size, so I got the same size. However these are much smaller fit. I will see if I return. I got them today and will try to decide. I would probably buy a half bigger size but the price went up by 40 immediately after my order which is a bit suspicious.

Update: I now got 10.5 UK size and they are a great fit! I don’t know if my feet have grown since my previous Berghaus I got 7 years ago are 9.5 UK. They are still in great shape but I needed new shoes as the old ones look dirty, but still in amazing condition. Berghaus is great quality, I am sure they will last me for many years.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI already had Berghaus boots which were brilliant. I bought these to replace a cheaper high street brand on which, while the uppers & bottoms of the soles were in very good nick, had very quickly lost all semblance of comfort. No such worries with these. You can feel the difference in quality as soon as you put them on! Excellent!

Had to order 3 different sizes in this shoe. I’m a size 41 but found the 40.5 UK7 great. Plenty of room for thick socks and like walking in slippers sooo comfy. Not slippy soles and are very sturdy. Did a 5k walk in them no problems at all. Would recommend.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersWith lots of walking shoes/boots it’s advised that you go up half a size to allow for your feet swelling after walking for a long time. I am a 10 and got a 10.5. Didn’t feel right. Exchanged for 10. These are my summer walkers so thin socks and staying cool is the way ahead. Out of the box they are fab and feel broken in. Very comfortable and all round excellent shoe. Love them. I did go half a size up in the Hillmaster GTX2 boots but might get a 10 next time. Well made and recommend

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThese replaced a well known American made shoe that after a short time started leaking and the rubber molding leaving the leather. The laces were gripped by the simple hole in the leather and took time to both fasten and unfasten. The Berghaus British shoes are excellent so far and get more comfortable each time I wear them. Very pleased with the comfort and style as well as quality.
I have now used these for walks and since I live in the Lake District that means considerable variety of terrain including easy rock surfaces on which they grip very well. They’re very comfortable and although I take a fairly wide shoe these are externally neat enabling me to drive cars without problems of hitting two pedals at once!!

Overall I am extremely pleased with these walking shoes, they are excellent.

I use them for few hours they have good grip, very light and flexible.

Smart, comfortable, and fit like a glove. I get gout but do a lot of hiking so the right shoes are essential. These are just as good as Berghaus’ boots but easier for everyday use and light hiking. Basically can’t be faulted.

I really liked these shoes but just wasn’t sure because of a slight slip on the heel . I bought for a 26 mile hike so had to be sure. Sent them back and replaced with 4.5 (which is my size) still a good fit though not as much room in the toe but these also slipped a bit on the heel when walking so I sent them back also. I am new to hiking so finding it difficult to know what is the the right shoe for me .

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI have tried many brands of trainer and found a pair of Berghaus trainers a few years ago in a sale. I was still horrified at the price, but they were the best fitting ones I have ever had. When they wore out (which took about seven years, the last two of which were for work as they had become too shabby for good wear) I couldn’t find any more locally so decided to try Merrill shoes – good, but no comparison to my Berghaus. So I turned to Amazon and did what I have never done before – bought footwear online. They are a perfect fit and so comfortable, and unlike many trainers they do not make your feet look enormous!

Arrived on time and well packaged. They fit nicely, are very comfortable and breathe in the warm weather. Time will tell on how hard wearing they are but I don’t see it being an issue as I’ve had quite a few Berghaus products without any problems.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersonly had them for a week, but worn all day for various gardening work. lovely fit, very comfortable, and appear to be fully waterproof. usually buy waterproof boots for work. They tend to last between 3 months!! (expensive ones) and 12 months ( cheap, from Screwfix. ‘Site’ I think, good sturdy boot, waterproof, but not particularly comfortable). Be interesting to see how long these last.

I ordered a size larger than I normally wear, just in case they were a bit tight. I’ve since put an insole in and they now fit perfectly.Very happy with the shoes, not yet tried them in wet conditions but am very confident they will be ok. Very comfortable to wear. The only slight gripe I have is the price, because I had Amazon tokens I bought them on Amazon. I have seen them quite a bit cheaper elsewhere.

Nice and close fit, but still easy to take off without untying the laces. The laces keeps tied relatively well, so you don’t have to retie them constantly. As someone who usually buys size 44, size 9 1/2 of this shoe fitted perfectly.

First day on and feet a little sore – but I often have issues with new shoes, so expected this, and not too bad all things considered. Certainly had much worse first days with new shoes that I have gone on to wear daily. Will update review if any problems. Edit: had for for a while now, as expected no problems once I’d worn them in a little, very comfy shoes and I’ve noticed they have particularly good grips, very pleased with purchase, would recommend

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersThis is the first occasion that I have bought shoes online, having previously preferred to buy in-store because of fit and comfort concerns. I took the risk this time because I am fed up with the stores (including those operating online) not stocking half sizes, so that I have had to buy shoes or boots slightly larger than I really need. So full marks to Amazon for offering half sizes. These shoes are a near-perfect fit and are very comfortable straight from the box. They are not particularly light or flexible, and in my opinion are more suitable for serious walking than smart casual wear. They appear to be up to the usual Berghaus high quality. I have knocked off one star simply because of the rather drab appearance – they are very plain and only come in dark brown or grey.
