Love this. Does what it says.
Great gizmo. Top lip hair nearly gone after 12 wks of using. Chin hairs need a little longer but definitely better than before. Hair on legs is hardly growing! I recommend this hair remover.
It's good
Seems to not work on my face(i have PCOS also) and started to have spots. It’s working perfectly fine on every other body part. I’m on session 4 and more then half of the hair is gone.
Great product but takes longer than stated
I got this in august 2022 and I am still using it weekly to remove the hair. I am very dark haired and in some areas the hair quite thick so that might be why it is taking longer than the 3 months stated. That being said the hair everywhere has been reduced by i would say 70-80% and it’s a lot lighter than it was before. My leg hair is pretty much gone. The product itself is easy to use. It starts off quick with the flashes but as you use it does slow down which is the only negative
I used this once a week for 4 months. Then once a month for another 3. Now I need to use it once maybe every 3 months when a small amount of hair grows back. It’s quick to use & doesn’t hurt. Definitely recommend!
Great gift idea!
Very good Id as a gift. My wife was very happy to get that, in fact it was her idea. So feel free to copy that for your next gift. She said it does the job brilliantly and no need more than what is inside. Very nice case too.
Delighted
Did see results after about 10 weeks but took another few months for it to become consistent and even (not easy to use under arm and not too uncomfortable after a few uses especially compared with bad waxing)
Yes!!!
This actually works
Having spend too much money at beauticians for laser I realised I needed to find something alternative. A friend suggested this and it works better than the treatments in salons! Smooth skin is a mus
It’s good
It’s good but l think before using that if you use at least 2 times salon machin you can give better result.
I don’t usually add pictures on my reviews but this one deserved it.
I’ve waited to see how good this actually was and I’ve been using for more than a month now and the results are incredible ! I took the pictures before start using it and after 4 weeks. Now I am just doing it once every two weeks on my underarm and bikini area (which I could see results after two weeks) and on my legs I’m still doing once a week but still is working amazingly. My pores doesn’t look like black dots after shaving anymore and the small amount of hair that I have left on my legs are away too thinner than when I started.
So, FOR ME, worked very well !
Much cheaper than a laser clinic
Great item, easy to use. Makes life a bit easier as the effects last for several weeks.
Great purchase
This may be more expensive than others but it’s worth it. Can use on all areas where you want to get rid of hair. You have to use it every week after shaving until hair no longer grows. Then just need to do again once every so often to keep bit at bay
It works better than I had hoped for…
I bought the Philips IPL machine previously and used that for a months and it did nothing and it stop working so I returned it. I thought I’d give this machine a try at home last year. I’m lazy and find hard making time to go to appointments at the nearest city. This worked well and I had results for the first & second session. I bought in Black Friday sales. It doesn’t hurt on arms and legs. Around the top of my legs near knicker line is where it hurts. No pain without gain. It works on my knuckles and I no longer have hair which used to embarrass me. I had professional IPL done in 2009 and with pregnancies a few hair returned on my airports and bikini line. This is good for too up sessions. The only place it hasn’t worked is on my moustache area. I still have some hair albeit the growth has slowed down. The two or three thick annoying hair on my chin went after the first session. I did stop plucking a few weeks before hand. It is best to stop plucking 6 weeks prior or use it says but my hair my grew back fast. Not any more. It’s well worth the money. I don’t have to worry about the 3 ugly chin hairs anymore.
Excellent produc
I’ve been using this for around a year now. It is truly excellent! I started off with the recommended weekly use which lasted 10-12 weeks – I tried to be as consistent as possible, although did miss a session here and there. I used the machine on my legs. After about 6 weeks there was a noticeable difference in hair regrowth – it was growing back more slowly and was a lot lighter in colour. Now, I can go a whole month without shaving, and when hair does start to regrow, it is so light in colour it is almost unnoticeable.
For reference, I am pale skinned with dark hair, which used to show signs of regrowth within 48hrs of shaving. I also have sensitive skin so was prone to razor bumps and ingrown hairs – no longer a problem!
I would highly recommend.
Amazing — highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have never had one of these so did my research and felt this was a good option. Wish I had purchased one sooner!! Yes the upfront cost is quite high but it works out so much cheaper in the long run when compared to going to a beauty salon. The results are amazing, I feel so much more confident and my bikini line looks amazing. No more horrible shaving rash or in growing hairshonesty, it’s amazing and so easy to use. Highly highly recommend
Wow It Really Works!
I was a little sceptical and thought long and hard before purchasing back in April. It was expensive at 300, but it works! I have been amazed by the results. I followed the instructions and within a month I could see the difference. I have olive skin and dark hair, and prior to using IPL I needed to epilate or wax once a week. If I shaved then I would need to do this twice a week, but after purchasing this system – 8 months later I hardly notice the hair has grown back. Where it has grown back, it is softer and finer. I could easily go months without shaving. I still use this system once a month, but it has been a game changer. I no longer waste time painfully waxing/epilating, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend!
It is always down to many factors: The laser is just one of them
This will be my review of the Braun IPL Silk Expert Pro 5 Epilator. I know different people would have different results and that’s entirely natural as we all have different biological compositions with different hair types and genetics. Therefore, the differing results aren’t just expected, but rather obvious.
To start with this Braun IPL Silk Expert Pro 5 Epilator is an amazing piece of kit for handling ‘visible hair’, but what is visible hair? That might be tricky to answer since we will have different expectations when we hear this expression. My experience with this epilator allows me to say that ‘visible hair’ would be around 70-80% of the hair intensity within any part of my body. That means that the Epilator would allow me to get rid of the hair, have a soft skin, but still get a little percentage left or that grows over the following days. I don’t mind that and I don’t even expect this to yield a 100% removal.
The Braun IPL Silk Expert Pro 5 Epilator works perfectly well, delivering amazing performance that parallels all the renowned IPLs I had the chance to use over the years. The variety of heads is amazing and adds to the ease of use that this IPL provides. The form factor makes it very light and easy to handle, way better than my other bulky IPLs. While being compact, this Braun IPL Silk Expert Pro 5 Epilator doesn’t compromise on performance which I like. The body head is wide enough to allow for a smooth and fast treatment. The grip is pretty reliable and the main epilator has a hand-friendly form factor.
I followed the instructions as needed and did the sessions as advised. I have noticed results as any of the other IPLs I tried. However, I also enjoyed being able to reach areas that I suffered with in the past, but this time with amazing convenience and comfort.
It’s been 6 weeks since I started using this and I am very happy with the results, not because I achieved 100% removal (It never reaches 100% in my case) but simply because the Epilator is working perfectly well and making huge difference to traditional means. I don’t see myself stopping the session any soon as I still believe more sessions are needed.
Before getting this you have to be realistic. First check your skin tone and try to understand the degree of efficiency that your skin would get. Second, dig into the genetics and try to learn from your parents about their experience with hair removal. Third, be patient when using this. It is not a magic want, but rather a tool with a huge potential for convenience if used properly.
Things have moved on very swiftly in the IPL for use at home market since I first used one around 5 years ago. This is the best yet and worth consideration, even if you already have a device in use (as I do).
* Suitability
IPL technology is not suitable for everyone and I would urge a visit to the Braun website to read all the available information before you make a purchase. It is not suitable for use on red, white, grey or blonde hair and is less effective the darker your skin tone. Some medical conditions also render it unsuitable, things such as varicose veins, so it is worth reading the health warnings even if your skin and hair colours fit the criteria.
* Use
It works by targeting the root of the hair so you can shave to initially remove hair before a treatment, which will reduce the smell of burnt hair (hence the inclusion of a manual shaver in the kit). You can choose the level of intensity from extra gentle to normal; I chose normal as I have used similar devices for some time and just noticed some mild heat against my skin, which was not unexpected and felt fine. Choose extra gentle for the first few uses whilst you get used to it.
You need to know that you will not see instant results and are likely to need to continue removing hair manually whilst you build up the process — there is a guide to follow. Hair will eventually fall out in most cases and you will notice regrowth becomes less frequent and softer over time. In my own case, I do not need to treat very often at all, and I now have patches of bare skin where hair barely, if ever grows. That is after about 4 years of occasional use after perhaps a year of regular treatments, so it does work.
* Precision head
I do not have this with the model I chose, so I just wanted to say that the IPL is fine for use on the face and I did not have any trouble with use even on toes where I have previously found it tricky getting the contacts to allow a flash. In my opinion, unless the cost differences are minimal, it isn’t worth paying significantly more for the models that include the precision head as the IPL without it is sufficiently flexible.
* Is it worth updating your IPL?
I have been using IPL technology for a while and debated whether it was worth buying a new model, particularly as I am in a maintenance phase with little input needed to achieve hair-free skin. I am pleased that I made the decision to buy as the speed of use has improved immensely from the first device I bought about 5 years ago. Then, I had to spend 30 seconds zapping a single area before moving on to the next; it took an hour or more to treat lower legs and even a model that is about a year old is still an order of magnitude slower than this Braun.
This Braun model is phenomenally faster than any IPL I have used before, which makes it easy to fit in a session during even the busiest of days. There is no obvious delay for the lamp to recharge, it is literally a process that is held up by the time it takes you to move to another area with no waiting at all.
* Comparison of models
There are three latest models in the Braun Pro 5 range, which at the time of writing are PL5014, PL5137 and PL5124. Having spoken to Braun, I understand that the basic handheld IPL device itself is identical and the only differences between the three models are the inclusion of a precision head, different manual razors and different bags. All are safe to use on the face, albeit the precision tool may make application in that area easier; note that Braun has stated this tool will be available as a separate purchase soon.
I opted for the PL5137 without the precision head as it was available at a good price by comparison to the other two. The manual razor is fine and largely irrelevant as it is a throw away product designed only for short term use. The bag that comes with this more basic option is surprisingly good and much better than any that have been supplied with my previous IPL devices. So, don’t let the bag or manual razor influence your decision.
On the basis that you are getting the exact same IPL device across all three options and a decent bag even with the more basic package, your decision will largely be whether the additional cost of a model that includes the precision head is worthwhile. For me, it wasn’t, and I am pleased with the PL5137.
* Summary
The Braun IPL is compact, fast and comes with a good bag for storage. Check the Braun website for full usage instructions and cautions before you purchase to ensure its suitability, but it is a very good IPL option and I have no regrets about upgrading from my previous device, even though it was only a year old.
Brilliant Value
Bought from Amazon Warehouse, fully expecting a slightly damaged but working item as described. Turned up with a tatty box but the item itself was immaculate. Have been using 4 weeks so far and practically painless even on the highest setting.
There was a difference after the first session!
I’ve noticed a reduction in hair growth after the first session! This has honestly made my life so much easier.
Really easy to set up, just plug it in and the device adjusts itself to your skin tone. You can then choose between being in control of the pulses (best when doing the face and bikini line) or to have it continuous which is great for doing my legs.
You get used to the sharp pain, it’s quite low level and it literally lasts a second and then its gone. I think I found it worse on the face especially because the first one was a shock.
I did notice that the lighting of the room greatly effects whether the device will work. I have light Indian skin and when the lighting was too low it wouldn’t work at all and errored when I pressed the button, but as soon as moved closer to the window it worked fine.
It made a difference in regrowth straight away. I noticed the hair was growing back a lot sparser and patchy, which is probably where I had missed so it will make the next session easy as I can target those areas.
Definitely worth the investment.
Great way of getting rid of the annoying body hai
Braun IPL Silk Expert Pro 5 PL5223 is currently at the price of 319.99, including next-day quick delivery and 30-day returns if anything goes wrong with the product. I think I read somewhere that if you register the product on the manufacturer’s website, you get an extended warranty, but honestly, I haven’t found where I saw this and if it is 100% correct.
I have to say I don’t have that much hair as it is, but the hair that I have I wanted to get rid of with a laser treatment that is a bit out of my budget, but as I have read a lot of good things about Braun IPL I decided to give it a go.
The Braun Silk Expert comes in a very pretty designed box, with pictures explaining its contents. Inside the box, you will find a really lovely made suede case that is in powder pink colour, and it is to be used to store the device.
Inside, you will find the main device with a charger, 2 spare heads, a Venus shaver, and instructions.
I was a little bit overwhelmed when I opened it, and I struggled to understand how it should work, so I end up googling it and finding my answers. I can’t say if it’s because the instruction was badly written or just me being a little bit special and not understanding it. However, once I watched the video, I understood it is important to apply the IPL on clean shaved skin, as that is the most efficient way- so the fact you get a shaver with this set is a really nice addition.
I did my legs, armpits, bikini area, and some face parts. I really like that you have different heads depending on how big of an area you are using the IPL on, as it makes it much easier to target particular areas like sideburns or tash haha
I have only used it for a few weeks (once a week), and as my hair grows pretty slow, I cannot comment so much on the effectiveness at this stage, but I am very hopeful, especially as a friend of mine used it before me, and she swears that is the best thing she has ever bought for herself.
Know that this is what you need -- and it does work
This is a review for IPL Silk Expert Pro 5 PL5223.
I gave this to a member of my household to use, and this is her honest feedback in the form of my review.
She used it for about five weeks, and has white skin with light brown hair, which is a tick on the chart for who this device will work with.
This device is all about reducing the need to shave by removing the hair. It does this through Intense Pulsed Light with essentially caused the hair roots to overheat and destroys them; the quantity of heat itself is small, and is dissipated by the body so that you don’t burn. Braun is a trusted brand, and so you can rely on the fact that this will have been tested properly under full and regulations that you can trust. I would not go for a brand that I had not heard of.
In the box you get a lovely storage bag, and the whole thing is clearly very well made.
You use this once a week, and cover all the areas that you wish to have the hair removed. This particular model has a wide head, so the job is quicker than if not.
IT is easy to manoeuvre to the places that you want to target and in no way is there any discomfort whatsoever. This was a very important point that needs stressing. In delicate areas there is a slight heat/hot sensation, but it really does go after a maximum couple of seconds.
The main point: does it work? Well, after four weeks, yes, there is some reduction. I am sure that that will continue.
I hope that you have found this review helpful. Thank you.
Easy to use luxury IPL with further results awaiting.
It’s a luxury product and a clear winner: I have had this IPL a total of 4 weeks and have used it 4 times on one calf and trialled a budget version on the other calf. This IPL was easier to use, worked better, and I already have hairs that are finer than they were (just remember these things take time to work but this one is light years ahead of the budget one!). It is early days and I will be updating this review as my journey goes on.
I have also used a Philips Lumea 5-6 years ago and this one definitely shows technology has come a LONG way!
In the box:
-luxury Braun storage case/bag
-Braun IPL Silk-expert Pro 5 machine
– 3 adaptor heads for different areas of focus
– Gillette Venus razor
– UK plug + shaver lead/plug for bathroom
Pros:
– Ergonomic easy to hold and use design
– the fan is not overpowering during use
– LOVE the automatic skin tone selection!!!!!!
– lightweight to use
– less that 2 mins per calf
– results already!
Cons:
– not going to lie, it really hurts! Especially if you don’t shave your legs well – expect burnt hair! Shave and shave better!! (User error!!)
Verdict: Given my current early experience of this product which has been nothing but positive and the current Amazon price of 319.99 for a luxury IPL (meets search engine/competitor prices at time of writing), I would definitely recommend.
Here's My Honest Experience:
This is a review for the IPL5223 – the newer model which was released on Amazon in July 2021.
* How it Differs:
It differs to the IPL5124 model with the amount of flashes per second, the number of sensitive setting and the accessories you get with it. It flashes at 125 per minute, 3 gentle modes which come into their own on your sensitive areas. The SensoAdapt alters independently depending on your skin tone, but also continually checks the tone and adapts to changes in colouration as it works, using ten different light intensities. This I love, especially in summer and on holiday or when im wearing a fake tan, because it can adjust to the dramatically varying tones on my skin.
* Avoid If….
It’s worth noting that this little unit works on medium to dark hair and dark skin, but it doesn’t work. If you’re anything darker than chestnut brown in skin colour, and/or red, blonde or lighter in hair colour, then this device is not for you.
* Does it REALLY Work?!
The “hair-free in 4 weeks” is a bit far-fetched, even if you hair is minimal like me. You will need to continue using this for the best art of a year to continue to minimise your hair. it’s one of the best IPLs i’ve tried and I can see a visible result in just over 2 weeks. That’s only two sessions with this device. I would however, call IPL a semi-permanent treatment to remove hair. It works very effectively, bit top-up are required even if its only once a month instead of once a week to decrease the volume and improv the texture of the emerging hair.
* Can I Stop Using It Once I’ve Achieved Satisfactory Results?
If you stick to it, you may be able to move to every few months before your hair needs another treatment. You’ll know its still working, because when you smooth over any emerging hair, some will come away easily from the root, others may need a gentle pull with your fingernails.
If you have stubborn hair that doesn’t budge when pulled gently, you know you’re overdue another blast from the IPL again.
New growth will always occur throughout your life, so regular treatments over a long period are essential to maintain your requirements.
* Accessories:
This one comes with three caps:
A standard one for underarms, a wide cap for large sections of limbs and a narrow cap for face and bikini. It doesn’t take long to do a limb group:
about 5 five minutes for both legs; and a little less for both arms. But it does depend on how thorough you want to be.
I like that it comes with a nice padded bag, it means it is transportable for me as I do travel a bit. The padded bag ensures the contents is more secure when I throw it into my luggage bag.
* Would I Recommend It?
In my experience, IPL’s never stay true to their rrp price – its quite often that they get reduced down upto half price (as is the case currently with this new model). I love these device, it does as it says in the markets EXCEPT regular use is essential in the long run to keep new growth in check. I suggest you snap it up if the price is reduced again. It’s currently the fastest IPL on the market for efficient visible results.
5 stars
An excellent product, very efficient and effective
An excellent laser removal device. Very efficient and effective! I have been using this for a few weeks and already seeing amazing results. Im so pleased with this. Im sure that over the next few months, it will show its optimal results. It is lightweight which is always useful. The material of the actual device is top notch. It is very easy to hold and does not strain the wrist. It is also quite easy to use and it ensures that the skin is not harmed or anything like that. Although it is a little pricey, it is still very well worth it – nothing better than removing hair in the safest way possible!
Overall, very happy and satisfied.
Easy to use
Easy item to use. Has different strength settings and heads for different areas if the body. Do not use on tattooed skin. Only sensation you feel is warmth waterside flashes. Will update my review on effectiveness when sufficient time has passed
Good but didn’t work on my ski
It worked on the lighter areas of my skin but unfortunately I wanted to use it predominantly for my face and I’m Indian so that’s definitely not getting any lighter. However when I tested it on my arms it was easy, comfortable and safe to use. Returned the item but would recommend for people with olive skin and dark hairs.
Only gave it 4 stars because it didn’t work for my but overall good product with easy instructions
Light and easy to use
As someone with dark hair, having body hair anywhere is a pain, daily shaving in the summer and now I am over 50 I have the horrible chin hairs too, so this is the perfect item for me to review.
Currently the review is based on ease of use and quality as it can take months for good results.
Firstly I was very well impressed with the contents of the box – I love the toiletry bag where everything can be stored, so you can get rid of the packaging if you want.
The machine is extremely light, and so easy to use. I recommend having a read of the instructions first and also before purchasing, make sure that it suitable for your hair colour and skin tone. These machines are suitable for dark hair but not dark skin, or blonde hair, so its advisable to check before paying out for such a big purchase.
The IPL has a long cord and you have the choice of a 2 pin bathroom plug, or a traditional 3 pin plug.
It recommends a skin test before using, by checking each area you plan to use it on by using one flash of the IPL. I had no reaction so was able to use the next day. I do find it a little sensitive on my face as it gets quite hot but its tolerable.
The bonus point for me is the fact you can use it by sliding it with your finger on the button – then it flashes after every short move – much quicker and easier than my previous machine.
It comes with a disposable razor as the area needs to be shaved before use.
It recommends that you repeat the IPL treatment regularly for around 3 months and once hair stops growing, use it monthly or so to maintain the hair free area. I have not got to that stage yet but will update if possible, if and when I have a hair free area!
One thing it doesn’t do is kill off the white whisker chin hairs which is a shame, perhaps future IPLs may hopefully as they cause pain and swelling until the hair has been plucked, so it would be terrific to get rid of those too!
Overall so far I am really happy with this and its currently half price which makes it much more affordable. 5 stars from me, I hope to update with 5 star results soon.
It's good in the long term
This Braun silk expert pro 5, home IPL system, is a good alternative to the usual hair removal methods and although its not a magic wand with some commitment it has made hair removal easier and less time consuming. I picked this up for my Fianc to use and she found the following:
The device comes in a nice padded bag with 3 different heads and a long cable.
The device itself is pretty light and easy to use and to hold.
There are 3 different power settings from a light zap to an elastic band pinging my skin.
The skin sensor stops me from setting it off when it isn’t positioned properly.
It works really well and has reduced new hair growth considerably.
It’s not a total fix and requires daily or weekly use for long periods but does get easier
The adverts say use will reduce after 6 months but depending on the skin location it may be longer
Overall in terms of paying every time for a wax, this is better value for money in the long term, but it is a massive investment. I have seen the price fluctuate by nearly 50% and on a deal its currently 320 which is a reasonable buy. But at retail its too expensive.
A great hair remove
I had previously bought a different brand IPL machine, so when I got the chance to review this I thought why not. This braun IPL hair remover feels expensive and for me having used one before could get going with the treatment. Very easy to use and has a great feature that speeds up the process by lightening fast flashes on darker spots on the body, the different sized heads are perfect especially the larger one as legs take ages to do but this speeds up the process. Doesn’t get too hot after use like others have done so you can get the treatment done quiet quickly.
All in all I would recommend I use this weekly with just starting and can already see the difference.
Amazing item
What can I say…..Braun you have nailed it. I’ve used this 3 times and I can definitely see a big difference on facial hair. I’m a female mid 50s and about year ago I slowly started to get facial hair especially on my top lip. I’ve been waxing it and felt as if the hair was growing in faster and thicker, so when I had the chance to test and try this I thought why not and I must say it has 100 improved the hair on my lip, they say it can take 6 weeks or more to see a difference but I see it after 3. My confidence has grown too, I’m not paranoid about my moustache now . One of my friends has the same problem only on her chin so once on done I said she can have a go to see if it helps her.
I would definitely recommend although I dont think I would’ve paid the asking price for this bit on the expense side but maybe thats because it was only my top lip needing treatment. Easy to set up and use , at first I was a little scared to put it near my face but there was no need as its very safe. Easy and comfortable to hold.
I watched a YT video a couple of times to inderstsnd how to use, it helped me
Ideal for light skin and dark hai
This is an expensive piece of equipment, but it’s way cheaper than having IPL at a clinic/salon. The IPL device is really sleek and is very well engineered, is robust and is built to last. The wide head and narrow head allow the user to cover large areas more quickly and access tighter areas with ease. It is noticeably more effective on lighter skin and darker hair, as the IPL beam target the hair/root with greater ease and precision. On light hair, it’s not able to effectively target anything.
Results take several weeks and the allowable review time does not allow me to wait that long, but judging by the feel of the product on a small patch on my arm, I would be confident in the results. If you want to save yourself the cost of professional IPL treatment, or you just prefer to do it yourself, this is probably the best tool for the job.
Very good, but expensive.
My wife has been reviewing this device for about 2 weeks. She has PCOS, and would normally shave her legs once a week. By the end of that week, her legs would be like spider legs. Coarse, prickly hair. More like a mans very sharp stubble. So she used this for just over a week on one leg as per instructions and then left it for the week to compare. At the end of the week her leg was showing far less hair and what was coming through, less coarse. Unlike some cheaper versions, this automatically sets to your hair colour and type, and also requires using less. For someone like my wife, that suffers with hairy legs, this has been brilliant.
She is very pleased.
Hmmm...interesting!
Comes as advertised ….for me it was tricky to use because i’ve never used anything like this in my life…i had to watch a tutorial on Yt…to figure it out…coz i didn’t managed with only the manual the came with it. I tried it on my skin and i have to say it did felt a bit uncomfortable ..a bit hot….i don’t know why…coz my skin is not on the super light side neither the darker one…so i will have to figure that out…It is kind of easy to hold but me not being used to it it felt a bit hard to handle. It is a good investment definitely …it does worth the price definitely ….maybe after i will get used to using it, it will feel more comfortable on my skin….I would advise you to get a good read through the leaflets that they give you with it….make sure you use it safely …nobody wants a nasty burn on their skin. I could get on the technical stuff….by repeating everything that you can already see on the ad itself….but i will not….I am here to leave an honest opinion and not replicating what the ad is already saying .
Yes- I would buy something like this either for myself or as a gift
Yes- It is worth the money
Yes- It is easy to use i believe after you get used to it if it’s your first time.
Yes- I would recommend this product to friends and family because it is a good investment.
Hope i helped you in making a decision.
Great gadget!
I can only review so far, which im only on week 2 of using this. I feel that I have had some success with this, and im going to keep going! its very easy to use the instructions are very clear. The main thing which is great about this product is the fact it doesn’t hurt as much as you think its going to! to me, it just feels like a veeeery mild static shock, and not all the time! it comes it a beautiful case, which feels like suede. it comes with two adapter plugs (UK and EU Plugs) which I found very accommodating, especially if you want to travel/take this on holiday with you!
High quality product, easy to use
The images provided by the seller are accurate, so please refer to those where necessary.
This is a great kit that removes the hassle of visiting expensive salons for the treatment whilst also allowing you to do it at a time that suits you. The kit comes with three heads that cover the precise areas such as the face, all the way to a large head for the legs and chest. The kit also includes a Venus razor which is a thoughtful inclusion for the kit. All this comes in a great quality bag with pockets for everything and which will keep the device safe during storage.
Understandably with a product such as this, reading the instructions and using it safely is a must. The product is very simple to use with lights indicating when the product is placed properly on the skin, and there is lots of advice in the instructions that i would advise you to take a look at. Using the product on my chest took about 5 minutes, and gave a slight warm feeling but no sort of discomfort.
I would recommend this for anyone wanting permanent hair removal method in a cheaper and more convenient way than regular visits to a salon.
REMARKABLE QUALITY AND SIMPLE TO USE
There is no doubting that this is a superior quality product from the outer packaging that immediately portrayed to me and my wife that high-end quality that would make this an ideal luxury gift.
The contents lived up to that top quality — my wife was instantly impressed. The handset is both stylish and perfect size for handling and is excellent in terms of manufacture.
The zippered suede affect travel bag is again great quality and ideal for her to keep everything in one place and a great size to include in her suitcase for holidays.
The first thing I would say is — read the instruction manual. This is essential to fully understand how this operates and how you should use it. So I won’t even attempt to guide you. Read the manual and don’t be tempted to rush ahead.
My wife has been using it on her face as she does have problems with side cheek fuzz and chin area now — one of the problems of age that she has had to contend with.
She did a pulse patch test on a clean skin area as advised and waited 48 hours to see if there was any unwelcome reaction on her skin. The first time she did this patch test she was initially a little surprised at the red light that instantly appeared and a slight tingling feeling on the skin. It only operates when held against the skin so she didn’t know what to expect. It wasn’t a scary shock just unaware what was going to happen. After that first one she was happy and did two further pulses without any problems. And thankfully after waiting the 48 hours there was no adverse reaction so she was good to proceed with weekly use.
She prepared by removing the obvious hairs as advised on the areas of her face she wanted to treat and has used the single pulse mode in those areas. She has got to the stage now where this weekly procedure is simple and does not take long to do.
We didn’t fully understand the process before using this — it is designed to prevent the hair roots from growing back — not remove hairs on her face. The information booklet suggests she should see results in as little as four weeks with hairs not growing back – so it is still early days but she feels it is starting to have that effect and considers this should work well long term. As for durability it looks and feels quality so it should last a long time.
Not the cheapest of items but looks like it would be great value if the final results prove positive.
In terms of quality, instructions and ease of use it is a definite five star.
Smooth and smart operate

Design quite well. Very compac
A great long term hair removal IPL device
I’ve always wanted to try a permanent hair removal device so when I saw this kit by Braun I knew it would be safe to use, Braun being a well trusted long standing brand in various hair removal devices!
Being able to use it yourself in the comfort of your own home gets rid of the hassle and expense of having to go to a treatment salon regularly, with little time to spare that was a major factor for me.
The kit itself comes in a lovely padded bag with various sections for different heads, the device and plugs ( yes plugs – it comes with the choice of a 3 pin plug or a 2 pin plug)
The kit consists of –
3 different sized heads all used for various parts of the body – the smallest being for the face or more precision areas with the medium being for general areas and the largest being for legs or other large areas ( chests for men etc)
2 different plugs
Venus razor handle and head ( you must remove all hair on the area you want to treat before using the device)
Instructions ( you must read these throughly before use)
I studied the instructions throughly before using which is a must! It’s quite straightforward but there are a few does and don’ts!
I then did the 48 hr patch test first, making sure you shave ( or preferred hair removal method) the area first, then just using the machine on gentle for the first time use as directed on a very small area ( I did an inch squared)
After waiting a couple of days all was fine so went on to use it on my legs properly.
Using the machine on both legs top to bottom (and clean hair free area) was a lot quicker then I expected you roll the machine from bottom of your leg to the top making sure the window is fully in contact with the skin, you know you have proper contact when the lights in the side of the machine are fully lit up white.
Then I kept my finger on the button which triggers the laser, so you see continuous flashes of red light when it’s working. It advises to do in a well lit room so the red flashes aren’t to bright which I did and it was fine. It doesn’t hurt at all you are just aware of a warm feeling on the skin. The total time to do both legs was probably around 5 minutes in total.
Avoid using the machine on large moles, birth marks & tattoos etc
When using on your face , chin or upper lip use the smallest head and you are advised to close your eyes when the laser flashes, again you should do a test patch first.
It states to use the machine once a week to start with, obviously it does take time for all the hair follicles to be zapped so the hair regrowth will take a bit of time to slow down which varies for everyone. Once you have achieved that it’s advised to use it just for maintenance.
The machine is recommend for a single person use and there is a chart on the side of the box as it’s not suitable for all skin tones or hair colours, so please check this carefully.
Overall I would recommend this for anyone wanting a long term hair removal method, it’s gives you that convenience of doing it yourself at home with a well trusted brand and once you get in to a weekly routine of using it, you should start to see the benefits of less hair growth and hopefully be hair free in time!
Easy to use; portable, premium device.
The Braun Silk Expert Pro 5 is one of the best IPL machines that I’ve used – it’s excellent quality, very straightforward to use and incredibly fast.
The Braun Pro 5 is suitable for light to dark skin, and will work best on darker hair colours – you must not use the IPL on tattooed areas for example, there’s plenty of information within the instruction manual. I highly recommend reading the manual before use.
What I like about the device is; the Pro 5 feels high quality, robust and has a premium look to it, exactly what you’d expect from Braun. It’s compact, lightweight (285G approx) and has a strong, durable long power cable. The cable is fixed into the handle itself for additional durability.
The Pro 5 fits nicely in my hand, it’s ergonomically designed and comfortable to use – it’s simple to use and has a big ‘flash’ button to the top of the IPL. There is a medium size flash handle; suitable for bikini line, legs etc. There is also an additional smaller flash handle/window for more delicate areas when you need precision flashing.
There is a skin sensor built in – making it one of the most straightforward and easy devices to use, the sensor scans the skin tone, delivering the maximum safest flash to the skin. This is ideal for those with darker toned skin with varied tones. Quick to use; I did my legs in around 10 minutes and full body around 20 minutes.
No stinging or burning of the skin when in use – multiple modes to suit all skin types.
No noticeable difference at the moment, a treatment of around 4-12 weeks is needed – first you’ll notice hair looks softer and lighter, you’ll notice results after around 6 weeks.
Negatives:
– Flash rate feels inconsistent when in use, sensor needs to be flush to the skin.
– Device feels a little warm after use.
To sum up the Braun Pro 5 – I highly recommend it, because it’s easy to use, fast and convinient.
