Braun Silk Expert Pro
Fantastic quality but it is a lot more expensive to other brands that I have seen and can match the quality. The system works well and comes with a razor which is handy as you will need to shave the hair before using the IPL I have seen other machines not come with this which is a bit frustrating as you do need it. The case could be a bit more adequate and actually protect the device properly if in a suitcase whilst travelling this won’t protect it. Overall a good system could be made better with slight improvements.
Outstanding IPL hair remover.
ThisIPL hair remover is simultaneously the most highly rated, popular, and, probably, the most expensive on the market. But of course, as it’s by Braun, one is expecting some level of technical innovation to justify the spend.
Visually, it’s right on the money, white with a gold trim: There is a discreet LED bar down one side which shows the intensity level.
The package includes the device, a general and a narrow head, the power cord, a shaver with a replaceable head for prepping, and a grey leatherette carrying case.
As you will know, the process is that one shaves the area the day before and then after three or so sessions with the IPL hair growth is permanently eradicated, as the broad-spectrum IPL has killed the root of the hair. The USP of this device, however, is that it reads the colour of your skin, automatically lowering and intensifying the light flash by flash so as to remain effective, whilst avoiding skin damage: And it’s this proprietary technology, combined with the high quality of the device and the companies estimation that the device would last for an astonishing 22 years in constant use, that you’re paying for.
So, an outstandingly good product in it’s field, which is aimed at the consumer who wants the best.
Very easy to use system by a well known brand name
The Braun silk expert pro 5 IPL is available in many variants the differences being the extra heads etc in the package. This the PL5223 includes three heads (the standard size, precision head for smaller areas, and a wide head giving more coverage than the standard) also included is a razor (branded Gillette Venus) and a zipped carry bag for easy storage.
There are three modes normal, gentle and extra gentle altered by the press of a button, dermatologically accredited and skin safe.
The SensoAdapt technology with skin tone sensors is where this is marketed at, which continuously read your skin shade and automatically adapt the light intensity for effective and safe use. There are 10 different intensity levels; an indicator bar on the side of the device shows which one it’s operating at (honestly very gimicky but gives your a visual indication of the strength)
There are also two modes glide and stamp, the glide is for covering large areas such as legs, chest (yes it is marketed at men too although my wife asks why men can’t have chest hairs)
The stamp is for when you require more precision on the movement and is activated by a firmer press.
Lots to like about this device and it feels comfortable in the hand, the only downside is the cord which can annoyingly get in the way somewhat.
The bulb has a life expectancy of 400,000 flashes which according to the manufacturers equates to approx 22 years of use which makes the eye watering price a lot more palatable.
They do give a little get out in the description stating this will not work with very light hair and skin tones and very dark skin.
To get the best out of this product four weeks minimum are the recommended time frame before you will see results, you can occasionally feel a twinge or more of a strange sensation to us but compared to other options such as waxing or epilating this is barely a tickle 🙂
Seems like a great product to get less hair and smoother skin but as always with things like this results will vary from person to person and depends greatly on the person using it.
Easy to use home IPL system - do read the guide before using!
The Braun silk expert pro 5 is a home IPL system. In the box is the main IPL unit, two power cables (one for a three pin plug and one for a two pin plug), three heads and a Venus Gillette razor. It comes packed in a fawn coloured carry case for easy storage and transport.
We did joke that the razor might be a freebie in case the device doesn’t work but I suspect the real reason it’s that you need to shave the relevant part of your body before using the device.
This is definitely something you will want to spend time studying the guide before using. There are some useful hints and tips in the guide and it explains how to use it in detail. For example there are different techniques depending on the part of the body you are using it on.
When you are ready select the right size head for the body part and power on the device using the gentle treatment button. This button also adjusts the treatment intensity. They advise starting off on the gentle option.
The main button is then pressed and either held continuously or repeatedly pressed, depending on the part of the body you are treating.
There is a slight sting as the device works. Not painful, more like mini elastic bands hitting your skin. The light emitted is quite bright so ideally don’t stare straight at it.
It advises four weeks minimum of treatments before seeing results. This is week one so I will update in time.
They also note it is not effective on all skin colours and hair combinations. The device automatically adjusts based on your skin tone and adapts accordingly. If it can’t detect enough skin or does not think the tone is right it simply will not work.
The guide suggests light hair and light skin is not a suitable combination as well as very dark skin.
Will update with progress but so far fairly easy to use if not a little blinding!
Fairly effective
I have been using this devide for 5weeks now and I have fair skin and dark hair. Didn’t expect fantastic results, and kept the box just in case if I need to return the product.
Overall, quite impressed with the result. It has been the most effective on my hands, as I no longer see any growth over there.
With the legs, its a bit interesting. On the lower leg I dont see much growth on the outer side of my legs, but in the inner side of the legs, the growth is the same as it has always been. Above the knee, I dont get much growth on the front of the legs, but at the back of the leg the hair is still growing. So I had mixed results on different parts of the legs, which is a bit funny.
Also IPL hasn’t given any result for my underarm hair so far, so will be continuing with the regular weekly treatments there.
All in all, I believe it was worth the money, as the hair growth, if not stopped, significantly decreased.
I don’t usually write reviews but after using this for the past 8 weeks I feel it’s definitely warranted.
Anyone suffering with excessive hair caused by PCOS, just buy it! I was hesitant because of the price incase it didn’t work etc, but I shouldn’t have been. 8 weeks of using it on my legs, underarms, bikini line and facial hair caused by PCOS and it’s made a massive difference!
The facial hair hasn’t gone entirely, but the growth has slowed down and in all honestly I’m grateful for that as it was making me miserable. I do feel its become patchy and some areas haven’t grown back at all on my face so I’m going to stick with it and hope for the best, anything is an improvement though and I’m happy.
My leg hair has basically all gone. The only place it grows is my knees, but I think that’s because they’re knobbly and harder to get a good read with the sensor. One thing I will suggest is keep up with a good exfoliation schedule with your legs as I have lots of haors left in the pores. They aren’t growing or being expelled. It does tell you this in the book, but I didn’t always remember to do it after.
Underarms are almost hair free, just one or two hairs here and there and they grow super slow which is brilliant.
My bikini line is basically smooth too! No shaving rash or stubble, no irritation, just smooth bikini ready skin and no hair where I don’t want it.
I’m so happy I got this machine, I wish I did it sooner as it’s made me much more confident.
I had to wear a mask with my job throughout this pandemic and I felt it was the perfect cocktail for faicial hair growth and acne. It was incredibly sore and irritated and I felt so ashamed that i didn’t want mask wearing to end and people see how bad it had become. I got this on prime day as a last resort before paying BIG money for specialist laser. It’s made enough of a difference that I don’t feel I need laser just yet on my face. The cost of this machine is around the price I would pay for 1 or 2 sessions on just my chin at salons local to me. For that price I am hair free on all the places I wish to be and its slowed/rid of growth on my biggest problem area. I’m super happy with it and encourage anyone sitting on the fence to just do it and buy it!
Anyone worried about pain, it’s really not that bad at all. It’s very rare I will feel that light pinch and you get used to it.
The 2 heads that come with the machine are really worth the extra amount (compared to the one with just the large head) as you can get difficult areas (like knobbly knees or face!) And its significantly easier to hold and get into places than some of the other competitor machines. When doing research this one kept coming up best and after trying a friends (another top ipl brand) I think this is still best. It automatically adjusts to the right strength of light pulse and is just better designed to hold and use. It packs away nicely and comes with european plugs as well as british so fantastic for holidays if needed.
Just a fantastic product overall and I cannot rate it enough.
Still early days, but I'm optimistic!
I did some extensive research and this product had greater reviews so I really hope that it works. Ive used it twice now, and it’s really easy to use, great grip, and it’s painless. The only thing I personally wish Braun would do, is rather include a trimmer instead of a razor. Ive been waxing for years and haven’t used a razor in all that time. You pay so much for this product that to include a razor degrades the brand somewhat, but that’s my opinion, so to solve my problem I went out and purchased a trimmer, works great.
The best money I spent!
So far I did not have any problems with it. I did once per week during 5 weeks. Went on holidays for 3 weeks, did not had to do any depilation. Amazing amazing amazing. Best money I spent on the last year!

You need to be patie
I purchased this device during lockdown. I’d been having treatment professionally on my upper lip, chin and neck for numerous sessions prior to lockdown which had worked brilliantly, but after no sessions for 4 months the hair quickly started growing back. This said, I’ve obviously had a good ‘head start’, I currently use it once a week and I’m on my 6th week. It’s hasn’t removed the hair completely but it is definitely working. On my chin it wasn’t just hair, but stubble which caused my skin to look bruised. The bruised appearance has disappeared but the hair does still grow.
I’ve also used it on my underarms and legs, and can see a slight difference already. You just need to stick to it and you’ll see results. I have dark thick hair all over my body and I’m trying to be as patient as can be to see it through! I think if you can see it out then it’ll definitely be worth it.
I would add though, I do find it quite painful. I don’t really suffer from sensitive skin but after having treatment in a salon where numbing cream and a cold a blowing device was used to now using this device I do find that it can get quite painful

I wish I had taken a picture at the start of treatment. This is after 3 weeks with two days to go till I am due to shave and do it again. I am amazed normally my hair grows back the next day after shaving and within two weeks of waxing. So this is an absolute game changer for my hair type and skin colou

Got this for my daughter who is dark-skinned Asian.Was apprehensive as most videos and product information guides said most IPLwould not work on dark skin. After 4 weeks of use, my daughter is very pleased with the results. Little to no hair on most parts. I would have preferred better pricing and a cordless machine at this price. That is my only main grouse.

As someone who has dark thick hair and pale skin this is amazing, even after a few uses the hair growth has slowed. Its easy to use and store, can’t wait to see further results after more treatments!
Hair zappe
Is it worth 300? Well yes and no. We have to use every week. As soon as you stop the hair grows back. So now its just become a Monday afternoon thing. I only brought as I thought it would kil the hair follicles. But it doesn’t.
If you get hives take Benadryl
For me personally I did not like this at first it did work for me my hair got thinner and less of which was great but I was getting itchy hives everywhere and I had to use lotion for chicken pox. so I stopped using it for a while. I recently found this YouTube video of this doctor talking about laser hair removal and how if you get hives then just take Benadryl before hand and it works!!! So if you have the same reaction I get take a Benadryl and then wait 30 mins and start zapping

It’s taken quite a bit more than 12 weeks but I am really seeing the benefits now. Not exactly a hair free dolphin but never again will I be caught unable to have a quick swim for fear of an untidy bikini line

You see this working quite quickly! Give it a month and areas where there are thinner hairs start to go away. I’ve been using it for 3 months now and still need to do areas where I have thicker hair.
Slows hair growth so far...
I have pretty light skin and very dark, thick hair all around my body. It has only been 5 weeks that I have been using the Braun ipl machine. However, I must say it is going well so far. I have seen a slower hair growth already, eventhough I was abit superstitious about it’s ability to work since I have ALOT of hair. I can see the biggest difference on the lower part of my legs, perhaps because they are the lightest part of my body.
It is kind of easy to hold but it is definitely easy to use, apart from the weekly shave I have to do on all the areas I want to ipl. It is a long process but I guess worth it in the end?
I would recommend you do a close shave prior to using, or else it will hurt. I do get pain from time to time whilst using the machine but it’s not unbearable, even on the highest level it is only like a thin elastic band against your skin, but only at places where I have not shaved as close to my skin.
Honestly, with the results I am already seeing, I wish I had bought this sooner. I feel more confident in my body already.
I will provide an update in a few weeks time when my start up treatment has been completed!!

Highly recommend tgis product Useful must have for ladies. Good spend. I regret why I dint buy this 15yrs back been going through the pain of waxing. But now after 8 sessions my skin is hair free.
Works well, say goodbye to shaving stubble
Works well. My partner has been using this for 5-6 weeks now and she says she can notice a marked difference between her regrowth previously and now. Flashes are bright so make sure you buy some IPL goggles/glasses for protection so you can see what you’re doing.

One of the best purchases I have ever made! As a Mediterranean woman, I have struggled with excess hair all my life. Hair that is thick and black as well. An IPL hair removal machine was on my wishlist for a long time, although I was very wary if they actually do the trick. Well, they absolutely do the trick!! It took me 6 weeks to get rid of 99% hair on my face (we are talking thick, black hair, especially on the chin) and right now I am on my 4th week treating the rest of my body (legs, bikini, armpits) and I know I am ready to move on maintenance stage (once every month, possibly two). The greatest gift I have ever done to myself! I don’t usually write reviews, but this product deserves all the advertising (keep talking about it to all my friends, as I know a lot of Mediterranean women who suffer the same. 100%
Nice result in a short period of time
I bought this product around three months ago. After the first month of use I can see the results.
I would add to the main product a safety glasses for the light. The light can be a bit uncomfortable for the eyes, and I don’t know if it could be harmful.
It works!
Delivery quicker than expected. I’m 7 weeks into using it – there are very good effects in some areas, mainly legs. Some more stubborn parts – I’m hoping the IPL will remove these hair after completing 12 weeks treatment. As producent mentioned – it struggles with blond hair, my darker hair e.g. from legs all disappeared but unfortunately didn’t work on blond ones yet.

I followed the instructions and started using this on my bikini area, arms, under arms and legs. I found a reduction in hair that differed in each area. It worked best on my arms, legs and bikini area but didn’t work so well on my under arms (I presume this is because my hair is lighter there). It doesn’t get rid of all hair but the reduction is significant and I’d say I’ve had a 70-80% reduction. It doesn’t work on the finer baby hairs but they don’t bother me.
After the initial period of use I dropped down to maintenance and now use it every 3-4 months.

My legs feel so smooth 1 week after shaving (usually next day the hair grows back as normal).
It pretty much removed 70% of the hair on the area, same with my armpits and arms. I was not expecting to get such a good result so soon- I’ve also only used it on the highest setting so far
Definitely recommend if you have dark thick hair and waxing or shaving doesn’t work for you – ipl so far gave the best results for me

I have used this before and it works…on me anyway. It’s quick I’m fair with darker hair.
The disappointing thing was the packaging. The stickers holding it together didn’t stick, so I think this box was an open one, (bear in mind I’ve had a previous one, which I dropped!!) but I was charged the full price. I can’t prove it though.
It has taken the shine off buying such an expensive item from Amazon.
Really impressed with the results!
I bought this device after reading the reviews and seeing it had 60 days return period. I was amazed with the results especially in some areas even after 2 sessions. The first thing I noticed was the slower hair growth. When I shaved my legs before the hair would start showing after 2 days. Now (after 9 weeks) most of the hair doesn’t show at all! Same results in other areas, some I don’t need to shave between sessions. I will complete the recommended start up period of one session per week for 12 weeks and I can’t wait to see the end results! I think for the legs I may need a few more sessions before I switch to once per month but all other areas will probably be OK!

I have had dark black hair all over my body for my whole life and after seeing results on my legs and my stomach I’m enthusiastically starting to use it on my whole body. I will say I haven’t seen results on my armpits yet, but the hair there is pretty thick. And this is quite a premature review as I’ve only had it for a month.
Also I didn’t see results for the first two weeks, but that’s completely normal. This may not remove hair permanently, but having a painless method of removing hair that delays the growth by weeks and doesn’t require regrowth is everything I’ve ever wanted.

This is my second IPL hair removal device that I purchased. Last year I bought a cheaper one to see if it ll work on me – and it did ,however it was extremely slow 3 hours for bought legs it was a torture and there was defenetly a reduction of the hair but nor completely hair free. Now this one blow me out Extremely fast no pause between flashes and the results was a 100% hair free after only 3 session. So yeah defenetly worth every penny. I struggled for a long time with waxing as I have very strong tick body hair and always had a bad reaction to my skin. This one defenetly solved that problem for me. The only down side is the app for recording your treatments, I would expect more from a brand like Brau
Ok I want to write a “real” review as it’s so hard to tell who’s got one for free and I feel like this is such a big deal to a lot of women/men that we deserve fair reviews. I’m going to come back and update this regularly. I bought this on Oct 21. So I’ve used it 6 times now and that’s 5 weeks. I follow the tags on Instagram to see how these reviewers who got them free are doing. Most say that they’ve only used it 4-6 times and don’t have to do it some weeks now as they’ve had no hair grow back?? I find that quite hard to believe myself HOWEVER perhaps they aren’t as hairy as I am. Little bit of background, always been very hairy, don’t have PCOS according to blood tests but I’ve certainly got the hiritusm symptoms. I’ve tried spearmint teas, various vitamins and wonder pills, birth control, epilators, waxing, magic creams and sprays that say they delay hair growth, you name it – it’s the same with my acne, I’ve tried it all!! I’m 28, very white skin and dark dark hairs. Toes, ankles, legs, inner and back thighs, stomach, face other private areas! (I hate even admitting to this.) Anyway the point is it’s a massive deal for me and I’ve tried a lot of things so think I can be listened to unlike these lucky women that barely have any hair growth and it works magically on them in no time at all! About the device. I like the device, bear in mind I had a Phillips one YEARS ago and didn’t use it much as didn’t feel it worked, I took a risk getting this one after seeing reviews and how far these devices have come. I like the design and the way you can hold the button and it’ll continue flashing. I always feel like I’ve missed some though as the window is smaller than the actual thing your pressing onto the skin, but that was the same with the Phillips one too. I like the facial attachment, I’ve been using that on my lips and chin. So results? YES there has been results. I hate shaving, I never dreamed of shaving my thighs before starting this, always going for waxing and epilating the lower legs. I would shave and by the AFTERNOON it would already be prickly on my legs. It’s embarrassing and I’m forever moving my legs away from my husband touching them. Now when I shave it’s NOT prickly by the afternoon. I DO have patches of no hair growth. The hair IS SOFTER. It’s genuinely not as hard/rough as the hair was before. Sat here writing this review it’s the next day from doing it and it’s still smooth. I will not lie and say no hair will grow back until I do it again next Thursday though. It does! But definitely not as much. I saw a question answered on here from the manufacturer and they did say that some cases could be as much as 18-24 months. I’ve found that hopeful because I can see an improvement and if I’m one of these 24 month people then so be it, I’d rather keep trying. More improvement on lower legs than thighs at the moment but I’m hopeful there too. I will come back in a month and edit this, perhaps I’ll add a photo too!
I hope you found this helpful. I really do recommend it because it is helping me feel better about myself and any improvement is good for me. I got it when it was 274. I would check other retailers first too, they all seem to have good deals at the moment on it. Also! It doesn’t take me 5 minutes a leg! This is because I’m really extreme about getting every bit I can. I slide it along very slowly and I’m also doing my whole legs, tummy (great improvement here btw), breasts (also good improvement), fingers, feet, face. I would say it takes about 30 minutes if you go slow.
UPDATE: JAN 15TH 2021.
Ok so it’s been 12 weeks now of using it. I cannot go to monthly yet. I can see I still need to keep doing it weekly BUT it has improved since my last review. I can see it’s slowly improving each time. I know it’s working because of the remaining hairs every now on then when I gently tug on them they just come loose so they are still falling out/not growing. I would say lower half of the lower leg is almost non existent, upper part of lower leg (like around knee) still has a bit of hair every week. Again nothing like it was before, remember I said I’d be stubbly after a few hours! I showed my husband my legs after a week and he was amazed at the small amount there was. It’s taking longer on the thighs but surprisingly not the inner thighs where most of the thick hair was. That is pretty bare come the end of the week. The top of my thighs though still has quite a lot of hairs by the end of the week though they are pretty fine not super dark. Ive recently started doing my armpits and bikini area so early days there so haven’t noticed much improvement yet but I’ll come back and update. I’ve started shaving a patch on my arm (not brave enough to do the whole arm yet) and am using it weekly. Pretty good results there too and on my fingers. As per my last review, breasts are fantastic, no hair growth and also it’s going well upper lip too, less dark hairs.
UPDATE 27th JAN:
I’ve added some photos as promised. This is week 14. The growth since the last time I shaved (one week). Ignore my dotty red legs, they’ve always been like that, nothing to do with device. As you can see if you zoom in there’s a few strands here and there so I’ll keep zapping weekly and update again soon.
UPDATE 25TH MARCH
Me again! Ok so here for a new update. I wouldn’t say there’s much difference on my legs between now and my last update. I keep going weekly and I would say it’s about 80% to 85% hair free on my legs. It annoys me I still have hair each week but again I have to keep reminding myself that it was gorilla-like before. What I like to do to make sure it’s still working is tug on a few strands with my tweezers each week and some don’t come out without force but others I just have to almost grab it and it falls away or slides out without even pulling properly. This is how I know it’s still working as hairs are still falling out even though some don’t. Try it yourself! I can only assume the tough ones are ones that have newly arrived or that I didn’t catch before. I only shave just before I do it each week as well by the way and I can still run my hand down my legs and they feel pretty much smooth. If I feel hair it’s soft if you know what I mean? It is NEVER stubbly on my legs anymore. One of the highlights for me is my feet. I don’t mean the toes (although they grow hair too) but my actual feet. They were so hairy and I couldn’t wear flip flops every day but now I can, they’re one of the best places it’s worked so farm I’ve moved on to other places recently. I mentioned my underarms last time…this is the one disappointing area ..I’m not noticing any difference?? Must have been a few months on them now and it’s the toughest place to work. In the last 2-3 months I’ve been using it around the private areas (and I mean all of it). I’m pleasantly surprised because along the bikini line there is a definite reduction in hair and seemed to happen quite quickly to be honest! I’d say it’s 50 percent less hair there so far (bikiki line and top – lips just ain’t budging hair wise at the moment). I’m quite happy with 50% less hair there as it’s early days I’ve been properly using it down there, I use it on my bottom too but as you can appreciate it’s tough to see. I’ve recently, last 3 weeks, started on my arms! I did a test on my elbow for a good month or two as was terrified it was gonna grow back fast and dark like a gorilla but it did not, reduction was quick! So now I’ve been shaving my whole lower arm and half the upper and my hands and fingers. All my life I’ve had hairy arms and hands and fingers and I’ve been really self conscious about it. At the end of each week you can see it’s growing back (but only close up, you’d have to grab my arm and inspect it) and needs to be shaved again but it’s getting patchy so I know the laser is working and I genuinely feel so confident in myself these days.
I’m really not sure how much better the legs will get but again, as I said before, the company say in some cases it’s 18-24 months of using it. I’ll keep you updated again soon, especially on the underarms, it will be interesting to see if there is any change there.
27th APRIL 2021 UPDATE
Just a quick update on underarms. I’ve attached two pictures. The one with the darkness in the background is today. The other one is 11th of February. Both after a week since shaving. So as you can see it’s not hair free and it’s been a good number of weeks. I do it every week. However I think you’ll see there is a definite improvement. You’ll notice less of a cluster of dark hair at the top right. Hairs appear lighter than before too and I believe it’s more patchy. Gonna keep going with it, I imagine it will take a good number of months.
Will report back on other body parts when I’ve got more time to type!
Good for very thick hai
As you can see I have a very thick hair, the first imagine with the line was before and the other was after one section!! Really recommend. (Btw you can not use on tattoos)

Working very well for me, a 40-something man who likes smooth, rather than hairy skin.
After 6 sessions I’ve seen hair growth slowly considerably between IPL sessions and there is less hair density per square centimetre. I believe this means the hairs have properly gone, at least for now.
Used on legs, chest and area in between, if you know what I mean 🙂 No pain problems in any area but you definitely know the light pulse is on in more sensitive areas. To me it feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin. I’ve a high pain tolerance so absolutely no problem with this.
So after just 6 sessions my skin is lovely and silky smooth. I’m very impressed and recommended wholeheartedly and without reservation. Well worth the money!

I want to disclose that I’ve had laser hair removal done for about 2 years. My results with salon treatments were spotty. Super effective on some areas (Brazilian, bikini line, armpits), but others it was not (arms, legs). I stopped going to my treatments because COVID shut down the salon. I noticed after a few months A LOT of my hair grew back. FML right? Anyways, I’ve been eyeing IPL for a while now, so after some E X T E N S I V E research, I got this one, because I’m Indian and my skin is a bit darker (Saying I’m IV would have been pushing it, I’m probably between IV and V) so I figured the skin sense feature would probably save me from myself because I have a bit of an overzealous approach with DIY beauty. ANYWAYS, it works. I think it works better than my salon laser treatments actually. If you can afford it, just get it. Shaving and waxing is for suckers. Is it permanent? Probably not, but neither are salon treatments.

Oh my goodness, this device is so easy to use. I watched so many YouTube videos on this device and a few of them complained how painful it is. I am a baby with pain, but I was so happy to find out it’s NOT painful at all, but then again, everyone is different. This was my first time using it, I have positive thoughts about this product!
Efficient product, some technical issues.
Although I am very satisfied with the performance of the IPL , the sensitivity setup button stopped working after 3 months. I sent it back for repair and they replaced the entire device with a new one, in about 1 week, so that’s great. However, the new device has been sent back with x2 sockets that I can’t use in the UK unless I by an adaptor. Please may I have an UK plug so I can use my device?
This product is amazing. I’ve been mega hairy all my life. Black hair and fair skin. I’ve been doing it for 7 weeks so far. Not one single hair has grown back. All I’ve seen at the most are black dots under the skin, after a week as if I’ve just shaved them. Before using this if I shaved in the morning I’d have stubble by the afternoon. My skin has never felt so soft and smooth. It’s so nice to be able to just put on a skirt or shorts when ever you like. At first it was a bit painful like someone put a hot needle on you for a split second but I don’t seem to feel anything now. I make sure I have a fan blowing on me when I use it. I don’t know if I’m doing it too thoroughly but it seems to take me about 1 1/2 hours to do my whole complete body literally everywhere. Which I split over 2 days on the same days, every week without fail. I exfoliate first as well as shave. It’s expensive but worth every penny. Gives you so much more confidence and so much cheaper than the salon. I can’t wait till I only have to do it once every few months.

If you’re not sure whether you should buy this, then go for it! Just persevere for a few weeks, then you will see results 🙂 Shave before doing the treatment, and make sure you hit all the spots. I apply moisturizer all over my body every other day to avoid ingrown hairs from the constant weekly shaving. After doing it every week for 6 weeks, I stopped shaving to see whether it had worked, and almost no hair grew back! I’m now doing it less frequently, and my skin is so smooth! Love this product 🙂 The only thing is that it overheats after a few min, so I need to take frequent breaks during the treatment to let it cool off.

This is my third and hopefully last IPL device. My first one from years ago treated such a small area at a time that I got bored of it (although it did work) My second one broke after giving a good results. This machine is a little more painful, but the results have been amazing. I had some stubborn patches in my armpits which are nearly gone after 4/5 weekly uses, my legs are maybe 90% (dark) hair free, and it’s even worked on my face, which my previous machine had little effect on. Very impressed
I dont normally write reviews but with lockdown I have time and it’s a long one as I found so many different reviews when researching this product includinga youtuber saying you use this and in a couple of days your hair falls out, it doesnt. I bought this 7 weeks ago, under the amazon used section and checked what damage had been done before purchasing. My product had some bumps on the box not on 4he product and I purchased it for 236. It’s worth keeping an eye on the prices as they change on a very regular basis. I have light/medium brown skin tone (my skin tone varies with olive toned legs, medium face and bikini line) and dark black hair. Make sure you view the skin/hair colourchart before you buy this and if it doesnt meet your skin tones dont purchaseit as the sensor wont change to produce a light. I have no medical issues, this has been checked, but I have suffered with course hair on my chin (which I would pluck daily otherwise I look like peppa pigs dad), top lip, thighs and bikini line since my 20s and nothing except daily pruning has worked and the summer months has always made me really anxious as my hair can start coming back by late evening. I have followed the instructions to the T including doing a test patch, really important especially if you’re going to use this on your face as you can burnt it. Sunday morning is my day, shave then ipl. I wear sunglasses on because the flashes get to me after a bit. It takes me about 30 mins (maybe a bit less) to do the areas above and full legs. I’ve noticed for my face you need as much light as possible so I have to do it at the window, (but it might be because I have medium brown skin tone) and you have to pull faces or stretch skin for those parts the sensors cant catch properly. It generally doesnt hurt it’s more bursts of heat but there will be sensitive areas that will quiet a bit, I found those on my thighs and bikini line, but suck it up it’s no more than a few seconds. The hold down button and swipe action makes the whole thing so much quicker rather than having to press for each light. Like I mentioned above I would have to shave/pluck daily. After week 3 my legs/thighs lasted a full week without shaving. The sunday of my 4th zapday I notice a few hairs I’ve missed and all I could see is small black dots on my legs. Now I’m 6 weeks in and I’m not shaving my legs before treatment because the black dots arent high enough for me to shave yet and I’m being lazy, but I will have it next week before I zap. 6 weeks of treatment- My armpits now have patches so it’s starting to get there but I think it will be more than the initial up to 9 weekly sessions they mention in the instructions but that’s ok as I can see the difference. My top lip is doing well the finer hairs have stopped growing but like my armpits those few course hairs on it and my chin are still battling through, slighly less course now and are coming through slower. I dermablade them off every couple of days at the moment (but that’s more because I’m really conscious and probably could leave it 3 days). I think a tiny area has stopped growing and it does feel less like my original peppa pigs dad beard, again this is going to be something I’ll keep doing weekly until I notice a major difference like my thighs. Bikini line – I’ve not noticed much of a difference here but over the weeks I have had trouble getting the sensor light to turn white in areas I might have managed to previously so this will most likely take double the time (I’m assuming because of my darker brown it requires a lot of light like my face but I’m not doing my bikini line at the window)! I’ve given it 4 stars because after all the years of trying different treatments/lotions and potions cheap and more expensive than this, I’m finally seeing results, well for me they are, everyone is different. My chin hairs might never go but I’m not at the end of treatment yet so we’ll see. Just dont do this and expect to see results from the 1st session, some people may have but be realistic and keep to a routine and wait out the full 9 weekly sessions.

I have been using the IPL machine for 5 weeks now and can see the hair getting weaker and weaker after each week.
Previously done the treatment in a saloon and the cost for 6 sessions, one a medium and extra large, was half of the machine price. The treatment is slower than the one done by professionals but it works.
Moreover, you can do as many areas as you want 🙂
I totally recommend this specific machine as it adjust to your skin colour so you don’t need to worry about it damaging your skin.

Amazing in terms of hair growth. Slightly hurts and is unclear which is the highest level. It’s a picture of a feather with 3 different levels so I can’t work out if 3 feathers means it’s the softest or if it’s the strongest! Doesn’t say in manual either. If someone could reply and let me know that would be great. I can’t believe how good it is on my hairs tho. Wish I knew about it sooner. Well worth the money!

I have white skin and dark hair. I’ve been using it for 5 weeks now and I can see a clear difference! Hair grows much slower on arms and legs and my skin feels so soft. I used to shave my arms about twice a week now I can barely see any hair after a week which is fantastic! I guess it would save me so much time in the long run! Worth the money!

The product is lightweight and easy to hold – your hand / arm does not get tired!
It is easy to use with the sensitivity button giving the ability to lessen intensity on more sensitive areas.
The light does not hurt the skin, it is a slight sting more like a flick or elastic band hitting the skin. Very manageable and not at all like waxing or epilation.
The light however is quite bright and I would recommend wearing sunglasses while using the product.
I am on week 5 now of my initial treatment and have noticed a reduction in hairs in some areas on my legs. Less noticeable reduction on the darker haired areas / more stubborn hair. I am hoping this will improve over the full 12 week period.

Blown away. I’ve been using this machine on my legs for 2 months now, and the smoothness of my legs is unreal! Theres a noticable difference on my leg hair, its growing in small patches now and I can get away with not shaving for at least 4/5 days now. Underarms are taking a little longer but there has been a decrease in growth rate in each body part ive used it on. Doesn’t hurt, I do find the more I use it though the more I’m feeling the little pings of heat. Not sure if that’s my skin adjusting though? No idea. But definitely doesn’t hurt.

Easy and quick to use
I have been using it for a few months now and it has made a big difference! But don’t expect hair free skin, the hair is coming back if you stop using it. I don’t do it as regularly as I should and in spite of that, I’m pleased.

This product is amazing. The first photo is of my underarms after one week, the second photo is of the same side underarm after 3 weeks. The product says to use once a week for 4-12 weeks, and look at the result after just 3!! I’ve always struggled and been embarrassed by my underarms and now I will have no reason to be. Super easy to use, both underarms done in around 5 mins. Feels like a bit of hot wax been poured on you for 2 seconds, then no pain after!!
So happy I treated myself to this as the results can only get better from here!!!
Easy to use and very comfortable
My partner really liked the Braun Laser Hair remover. Out of the box, everything was very clear and easy to to understand and it was really just a matter of unpacking everything and she was away. The unit is comfortable to hold and just glides painlessly over the skin so feels comfortable to both the hand and the body. Of course this product takes times to show its effect however after about 10 weeks its effectiveness was very apparent and the amount of visible hair drops to nothing.

Life changing (honestly)
Best purchase I’ve ever made. Ever. Hands down. I use it weekly on my face, chin and neck and had really good results after about 8 weeks of using it. I have light skin and dark hair (that had become quite coarse from years of shaving).
I have been using it for about 4 months now and I just keep being more impressed. I used to have to shave my face/chin/neck multiple times a day, which made my skin really sore and red and I was very, very self conscious about it and the stubble. Now I can’t remember the last time I used a razor for that! It has also worked on random hairs on my chest and abdomen area and I’ll shortly start using it on my legs. I was skeptical about how beneficial it would be as I felt like I had exhausted all other at-home hair removal options and nothing had worked. It was a big gamble to spend so much on this item, but it really has exceeded my expectations. It’s very easy to move around contours and I love the fact that I can hold down the button and drag it over my skin and it will keep zapping as long as I keep skin contact. Really speeds up the process. I now spend less than 5 minutes every week on my face/chin/neck/chest/abdomen with none of the sore skin or razor rash! There are three intensity levels as well which I can switch easily between, eg when moving from upper lip to chin.
I also have a Phillips Lumea Advanced IPL from about 5 years ago which was much bigger, bulkier and more difficult to handle; it felt like a chore to do it ever week. This product is truly life changing for women who have very dark, thick, coarse hair which grows back very quickly after shaving.
The hair on my legs used to grow back extremely quickly (sometimes less than a day after shaving) and after using this 4 times I can honestly say that the results are brilliant. It did not seem to do anything at first- you must persevere! My leg hair does not grow back as thick anymore, the hairs are becoming finer, I can go almost 2-3 days without shaving now and the horrible stubble has disappeared! It’s honestly made me so much happier within myself. It is hands down the best money I have spent! I would urge you to shop around though as I feel I paid a little much. However, I would highly recommend this product!!

It is 100% worth it. A bit difficult to use in the back part of the legs but you have everything done in less than 5 minutes. It is not painful and you can notice the results after a few weeks using it.
It's working for me
I had about 15 IPL treatments in a salon over the space of 2 years. It did work but the hair was growing back in patches and I had to get top ups every 5-6 months. These were expensive and I felt buying an at home IPL device would save me money.
After a lot of research, I decided on this product as it had a 3 month ‘money back guarantee’ , a light sensor, inbuilt fan and a precision head. I have fair ski, and very strong hair. I use it on the highest setting and it doesn’t hurt (the odd time it may slightly sting). I bought this 3 months ago. You have to be patient, use it once a week and don’t expect miracles. The hair started falling out by week 3 and was slow to grow back.
Be careful; the first time i used it i burnt myself – I obviously went over the same patch twice. Now i mark out the areas with a pink highlighter so it doesn’t happen again.
I decided to try it on my arms (I have never had IPL on them before), they grew back slowly and I’ve noticed a few patches where the hair hasn’t grown back .
Although my underarms continue to grow back with strong hair in patches, I cannot blame the device as this has happened with the salon machine. I have recommended this product to a few friends of mine.
After owing and using the device for 3 months consequently in my whole body I can say that I am satisfied with the results when it comes to the hair removal and disappearance. The technology is easy to use and to understand, it adjusts based on your skin color, (it reduced the intensity when I got tanned for example). I have an important issue though which I do not know if it is normal and appears in every device of this type. It overheats very fast, especially after insisting on pressing the button in order to pass the laser fast from a big area e.g.legs. Therefore, I need to turn it off and on a bit later that makes the whole process time consuming and a bit unpleasant. Overall I give 4/5 only due to the fast results and advanced technology, but 3/5 in comfort due to the overheat.

I have really dark hair and this product helped me so much with building my confidence up show my legs more or being able to walk around not feeling like there’s going to grow back the next day buy shaving. I’ve tried waxing, shaving, hair removal products. I’ve literally tried everything in the books that you can think of but this laser hair removal is probably the best product I have ever used for my hair I use it for my legs, my armpits, my stomach ,my thighs, my face I use it for everything. It might seem expensive upfront, but it’s honestly the best money I have ever spent!
As someone with naturally pale skin but unfortunately dark, thick leg hair, I’ve always struggled with the maintenance. Shaving grows back too quickly, and whilst waxing is effective it works out expensive and waiting for the regrowth, particularly in Summer months is excruciating and embarrassing – having to go out with hairy legs on an unexpectedly hot summers day!!!
When I first heard a review of this on Instagram I was excited at the prospect of finally being able to have permanently smooth legs. I was a little bit sceptical however about how ‘pain free’ it would be.
My first ever use of the product the initial sensation did make me jump, but it wasn’t painful just warm and perhaps a slight gentle sting. However each week the process gets increasingly easier and pain free. I’m the biggest wimp when it comes to pain and I can honestly say this has never hurt – at the very most a slight sting, this seems to happen if you missed a hair when shaving.
I’m now coming to the end of my first month using this and I barely have any regrowth now! By the end of the week after I’ve treated my legs I literally have a few stray hairs in patches, but the rest of my legs are smooth and hair free. I know eventually there won’t be a single hair left!! I’m honestly amazed and it has given me so much confidence. Being able to get my legs out without the stress of having to wax or shave is amazing. I would highly recommend this product!
This is a well thought out bit of machinery. It looks quite sleek out of the box. the instructions are clear, and the lead is reasonably long. After 4 weeks use does appear to work. It’s very easy to hold and use, and the smaller head allows for upper lip area use. There is also an app you can use to keep a track of when you use it, but if you use it on the same day every week you don’t really need the app.
My husband has got me to use it on his back as he has always wanted a hairless back, and it seems to be working.
The only thing I would add is that we always clean the mirrored square tube in the head and the yellow lens with a q tip dipped in propanol after use. It gets rid of any burnt hair marks that sometimes happen, even though the instructions suggest you only use a damp cloth. It would also help sterilise it. It doesn’t remove the burnt hair marks on the plastic

I bought this amazing thing a week ago and, according the instructions I have used this weekly. I’ve used it 2 times before writing this and I am already amazed by how good this is. I have fair skin and black hair (so perfect candidate for Ipl) and after the first session I could already see a reduction of 30% of hair. My skin looks better, and the hair is very noticeably reduced.
For me it works and I must say it is one of the best investments I have made. If I am so satisfied after just one session, just imagine how I am going to be in a month or so.

Well I have waited 6 weeks before I wrote a review, basically because I wanted to wait and see how this amazing product worked, and believe me it works, it is truly amazing, I have pondered for years about buying purely because of the price, but when amazon had the prime day I got 350 off!! This is the best money I have ever spent, it is painless, easy to use and does exactly what it says on the instructions which are very easy to follow, you do have to be patient, I have been using it for 6 weeks now and I can’t wait too see the results after 12 my legs are alot smoother, I have also used it under my arms and the results are the same, I would highly recommend this product the hair what is coming through is also a lot finer, love it.

I have A LOT of dark hair on my legs – big problem all my life ( I am 45 ). I started using this once a Week in the beginning of july – and after about 4 weeks – the hair was gone. If I want my legs to fejl totaly smooth I shave my legs once a month. Before I had to shave every day. I was totaly surprised because I was very skeptical, but it just works 😀
This is a beautiful quality IPL from Braun. One thing to note with these is that they only work when there is a good contrast between the hair and the skin – the information is on the side of the box. Much of my hair is white so I have been sharing the IPL with my daughter, to get a more complete opinion. It is very impressive. You can use it on both body and face quite safely and, if you follow the instructions, over time, the hairs no longer appear. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow – and the IPL is almost intuitive to use, and easy to therefore use it in the way that suits your needs and sensitivity. To be honest I didn’t really think it would work and I’ve had to eat my words. It takes time and dedication, but it does make a big difference.
I am olive skinned and have dark brown hair.
I am onto my 6th week of sessions with my Silk.expert. Obviously, I expected it to work, otherwise I wouldn’t have forked out 300 for it, but even so, I’m really impressed and surprised at how well it is working!
The guide says that you can expect to see ‘permanent’ (requiring treatment only once every 3 months ish) results between 6-12 weeks, and after 6 weeks I am seeing excellent results, but not yet permanent. I have no issues at all if it takes me the full 12 weeks to get there, as I can definitely see that it’s working.
I am at the point now where I have some areas on my body where the hair has stopped growing (arms / parts of legs / bikini line / arm pits), some areas where the hair is growing a lot slower (legs), and some where the hair is growing in a lot thinner (armpits).
Using the device is completely pain free, each ‘zap’ delivers a satisfying burst of heat (and if you left a stray hair, a smell of singe!), and I find that it takes me about 15 minutes to do my whole body. You’re meant to do this once a week but I’ve been doing it twice – apparently it doesn’t make a difference how often you do it but I like to think it’ll help!
It has 3 sensitivity settings so you can drop it down a notch or two for your first use, or for using on sensitive areas. I find that there’s no part of my body where I need to drop the sensitivity level from full power but of course this well depend on your skins sensitivity too.
I can go 2-3 days without shaving my arm pits now, and I can go 5 or so days before I need to do anything with my legs, which believe me, for me is absolutely amazing. I’ve always been one of those unlucky girls who needs to shave every single morning if I want to have my pits of legs out, so you can imagine how relieving it is to not have to do that.
Point is, I love this and I would recommend it to anyone! Although it does have limitations;
It’s limitations are that is doesn’t work on white hair, and it’s not recommended for darker skin tones. The reason being that the ‘zaps’ are seeking out melanin – it’s that what it targets down to the root of the hair in order to kill it off. Obviously, white hair is void of melanin so it simply won’t work. Again, those with dark skin have a lot more melanin in their actual skin, meaning it will be the skin that absorbs whatever it is in these zaps that kills hair – essentially making it unsafe to use.
The device does have a sensor on it which senses your skin tone, so I would expect that when put against skin tones it is unsuitable for, the device wouldn’t allow any energy discharge. The sensor is great as it picks up tanned areas / lighter areas of skin and adjusts the strength of the zap accordingly.

4 months of treatment, good results
Small, compact, easy to use and almost painless. I simply added this into my usual grooming routine as an extra. I am fair skinned with dark hair and I need to shave often. This is my second IPL product. I stopped using the first because it was cumbersome. This didn’t produce fast results; it seemed to make no difference at first, but after 4 months use according to the instructions I am seeing good results. The downside is that I must shave to use this, not epilate. The upside is that it really does knock hair growth back to next to nothing. I can see that if I keep treating, eventually I’m no longer going to need the machine. I had a problem patch of thick bristles on my chin that this has worked very well to knock back to peach fuzz. Note that you can only use this lower than your cheekbones so you can’t use it to zap a unibrow. This is so neat and compact that I find it really easy to store, use and even pack to take away with me. There is an app for the phone but it really does just track your treatment dates. I tell Alexa to remind me when I’m due my next zap session. The price tag is a little steep, but it’s permanent hair removal. Results do differ person to person, it has worked for me and I’m really pleased with it.
Small, light and easy to use!
As laser hair removal at home becomes more affordable there are likely to be more devices like this one available. Although this is costly, it is much cheaper than a salon option – though it will take time to get the results you want so don’t buy one two weeks before a big holiday or you will be disappointed. We have owned one previously which we found was pretty good at what it needed to do but this model is another step up. Previously I have used a laser hair remover on my bikini line but this time I have been using it for my under arm hair. This is because recently my armpits have been getting really quite irritated by shaving and so I have been wanting to stop having to do this and am not brave enough to let my hair grow wild and free!
When you get this out of the box the first thing I noticed was how compact it is. This is great meaning it is easier to handle and lighter than my previous hair remover. You are provided with two attachments, one for the body and one for the face meaning you can be a bit more exact in tougher to reach areas – though you do need to note that you cannot use the facial attachment on the top of your face. It is only for use on the jaw line and top lip – DO NOT use it on your eyebrows!
The device has several different power settings which really helps in judging how much ‘pain’ you experience. I would highly recommend trying this out on a lower setting and then increasing depending on what you can find bearable. Using this on my armpits means I have been setting it at a lower level. This is because this is a sensitive area and it has been recently irritated so I don’t want to set the skin off.
You do need a bit of patience with IPL devices, the results are not immediate so don’t throw away your razors immediately (don’t tweeze while using this). I have been using this for a considerable while now and the amount of armpit hair I have has diminished considerably. I didn’t start to notice much for a difference until I had been using it for about 5 weeks. I have fairly pale skin and darkish hair so really should be quite ideal for this product and the results have come, it has just taken time.
Overall if you are in the market for a home hair removal device then this is a really good option. Just make sure it is suited to your skin and hair type, follow the instructions and be a little bit patient!
ONE YEAR UPDATE: Wow. I haven’t seen a hair for months. Legs and bikini were a bit more stubborn and the first 12-16 weeks are a bit tedious (can be hard to tell if you’ve missed a patch) but keep going and it’ll be worth it! Thanks Braun
Time will be the test of this, but 3 weeks in and I’m stunned by the results already.
I feel I have slightly tanned skin and blonde/brown hair colour and I’ve noticed a significant reduction of hair on my legs. Thicker areas have been slower to respond, but there is a difference. I can’t wait for a few more weeks!
Pain wise I would say is almost unnoticeable most of the time. Feels slightly warm, as though you’ve touched a hot cup of tea, but perfectly manageable without any pain relief. The flashes can be bright, but I haven’t noticed any effect to my eyes, just be careful to not stare at it the whole time.
The device is so so easy and so so quick to use, I quickly adapted technique and now turn it longways up my shins as that tends to be the hardest area, but the two settings help cover all areas.
It’s great, I’m shocked and I can’t wait for a few more weeks to see the results.

The price, much like the sting after use, of this is pretty eye-watering.
It does, however, work pretty well and provide good value for money.
Getting this type of treatment is not cheap, so if you can successfully do it yourself at home, it’s definitely value.
It’s effective, but absolutely read the instructions. For example, you have to shave, not wax the area before use and there are a lot of things you should be wary of before use. For example, don’t use if you have skin cancer or are pregnant. It shouldn’t be used on broken skin either.
The price is steep, but it does represent value.

Excellent IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair remover – I waited a while to post my review to give the treatments time and see how effective it was, and I am very happy. Super easy to use, the device will scan your skin tone allowing for the appropriate setting, then it’s just a case of sweeping the device over the area and letting the light pulses get to work. I would recommend shaving the area manually first though (there is a standard razor included in the kit), so that the IPL can directly target the roots, rather than having to burn away the entire hair. The treatment does take about 3 months to see results, so you need to be patient and keep repeating every week, but for me once it kicked in the results were undeniable. I’ve had no issues or problems with this device – the only caveat I would use to potential buyers is to consult the chart beforehand and make sure it will work on you – with some darker skin tones and blonde/red hair, this may not be effective.
So I’ve had this for a couple of months now and though it hasn’t irradiated hair from all areas there is a marked improvement. Like others have said fine hair like on the legs and face seem to have easily gone, but tougher hair on face and bikini line are taking much longer. I’m preserving and looking forward to finished results, though think this is still another couple of months away!
The device is very simple to use and I don’t think it painful. I use it on full setting for legs and underarm and mid setting for face and bikini. Just make sure the area is well shaved beforehand or you’ll get the very unpleasant aroma of burning hair!
I’ve been using it for about 2 months now and overall I am very happy with it.
My legs and forearms: noticeable difference. Have to shave every few days instead of every day (for the skin to look smooth). Armpits and facial hair: not much difference so far.
Overall I am still glad I purchased this product and I’m sure that the hair growth will reduce in other places as well with regular use.
Quality from start to finish
This really is a superb hair remover. It literally emits quality from the moment you open the box. It looks and feels great. Apparently, the Braun reads your skin tone to find the best way to remove your hair. What I can tell you is this Bran is a smooth operator, it moves well over contours and it’s much quicker than other hair removers I’ve used. And the results are fantastic. With previous removers, I usually see hairs come back within 3 weeks, not with the Braun, I’m up to 4 weeks. But for me keeping on top of things every 3 weeks keeps everything super smooth. There is an app that helps keep track of things, but I rely on my sense of touch to tell me what/when I need another treatment. The only downside is the price, it is a great product, but the price tag means it’s an investment purchase. Is it worth it? I’d say so.
I actually bought this, not a free one like most of the reviews. It is expensive yes. Don’t expect to get your leg done in five minutes like it claims. I get my husband to do it and it still takes longer. I will update as I’m only two treatments in but pain wise its warm but I think the big issues are people using it when they haven’t shaved really carefully, please shave carefully before hand. It also gets hot after a while, I like to give it a minute before carrying on as the warm head is most.of the discomfort. I will say on its lowest setting it is far better than I expected and would say you almost don’t notice being done. It’s much less painful than waxing. More warm and time consuming.

Make sure that you shave or epilate before using to remove thick long hairs, then using the braun let the light do its job on the roots.
It is not cordless, but for the technology it uses I would not expect a cordless one to be as effective.
I was reluctant to start with as I have fair skin, but did a patch test and everything was fine.
It is expensive, but I have used Braun products in the past and you do get what you pay for.

This device is excellent value, considering the high cost of relevant salon treatments, and the instruction booklet is great. You receive two types of plug, one of which can be used in the UK.
Hair growth diminished after about three weeks, which I thought was a good result.
The cable length is generous, and the device is comfortable to hold and easy to use, even if left-handed. I found the standard intensity is rather hot.
The instruction booklet gives excellent guidance on whether or not the device is suitable for you, and I thought the fact that it will not work on skin tone that is not compatible was an excellent safety feature.

Its early days, but so far this all seems to be working well. The Mrs. has only tried one treatment but already has some reduction in hair. Her only negative comment was that there was no off switch that she could find.
Everything with a plug on it comes with instruction books and warnings, in this case you really do want to read those warnings. If used safely this device is fine, but there are loads of ways to use it unsafely so for a change actually read the instructions first.
This is not cheap, but it is effective if your hair is suitable for it. It is worth checking that first – no point if you have grey or fair hair for example.
30% more powerful but corded
I come to this product by way of the phillips lumea ipl device which is cordeless.
This one according to the instructions has 30% more power than the older models and during use I can feel that in the slight tingle you get afterwards . The unit is for me very effective if you follow the instructions on the time between treatments and it’s also as quick as shaving when you get going with it .The flashing at first is a bit disturbing(I received no glasses) but I found it simple just to look away when using it .
This one has a good long elecric flex and is great as you don’t run out of power during use but the cordless one goes everywhere so it’s down to you which you would prefer, also the hair removal isn’t permanent and I feel it is an error to say that as it raises expectations but the regrowth is vastly reduced with regular treatments and all done in private in your own home.
Brilliant! Much quicker than other IPL systems that I've used
This Braun Silk-expert Pro 5 IPL system looks the business and didn’t come vastly overpackaged, which is nice. There are, as usual with IPL systems, quite a few instructions and guidelines to read through but it’s really important to make sure that you’re using the system safely. There is a good amount of information in the product details, above, to help you decide if you have the right colour of skin and hair to be able to use it.
Once you’ve absorbed all of the information it’s lovely and quick to get started. With other systems that I’ve previously used you have a few seconds wait in between flashes which means that doing an entire leg can take quite a while. However, with this system you’re able to just keep slowly moving the device and the flashes quickly follow one another meaning that you can get through an area of the body nice and quickly. This means that I’m much more likely to keep up with it!
I’ve been using it now for a few months and the results are great – easily comparable to other systems. The main advantage to this over other systems, in my opinion, is the speed with which you can get through the process.

So I don’t know if this worked or not in regards to the hair bing eliminated….hast to tell but id did say it could take a few weeks. Easy to use really clear instructions for every comparable hair and skin type. I was a little nervous at the first but it was a breeze. Didn’t feel like Id actually done anything really. So quick and simple and if this does not writ its a lot less effort than shaving. fOnly tried it on mob legs so far….will move in to another body part once I se results. Tine will tell. The device itself is light and easy to use and the power cord is long so on limitations to where you can use it. so far would totally recommend but time will tell if its as good as the price tag suggests.
Brlliant home treatme
I had not used an IPL device before, so didn’t know what to expect. However, I am aware of the high cost of salon treatments, so although this is expensive, it would soon pay for itself. I read the instructions carefully – highly recommended, as there are precise rules and exclusions for its use. The device is light and easy to hold, with the buttons easily within reach whilst operating it. I found the prickling sensation quite acceptable and not painful. It is quick and easy to use, especially as you are able to keep the button depressed to use continuously as you move over the skin – real bonus when you are treating your legs. I have been using this continuously (as recommended) over three weeks and my hair growth has slowed considerably – and what is growing is very weak regrowth. I have not needed to use this on my face, but there is a smaller head provided for this purpose. I love the long flex provided – too often you have to sit on the floor close to the socket to use these products and this makes it easier to sit in comfort to use it. It is a fantastic way to keep hair growth in control easily in your own home, without spending a lot of time and money in a beauty salon. This is a well made, very effective beauty aid from a trusted, reliable brand and highly recommended.
Since I have a rather large tattoo “down there” I have to keep it tidy for the sake of clarity. I’ve tested MANY epilators and laser hair removal guns over the years and I find the laser guns to be less painful, but that doesn’t mean pain-free. The head width has always been an issue when you have a lot of flesh real estate to cover though. This one is average sized but will surely sting (for one half second) every time you pull the trigger. After 5-10 minutes I have to stop as the pain and scent of burning keratine always indicates that the session is at an end.
The wire is long enough, thankfully, and has the power block in the middle, so it will plug into any wall socket without hassle. A pouch is also included for those who wish to take it with you when you travel, as well as a very neat Venus manual razor. This particular model comes with a precision head, which is very handy for getting into folds or that one annoying follicle that always bugs you.
You WILL have reddened, sensitive skin after using this, but I do experience a noticeable lack of growth and an increase in sparsity. Try it once a week for a month then a couple of times a week after that and you really will notice the difference. Wincing every time you pull the trigger is unavoidable, sadly.
Excellent and very user-friendly
I previously had a Tria precision IPL which had been effective on my facial hair, however this is an entirely new IPL ! Firstly, there are two size options for the laser area – a smaller one for the face (still three times bigger than the Tria), and a larger one for legs etc. Operating the hand unit is extremely easy, just simply plug in, turn on and place on the area. The level of the laser is automatically set according to the skin and hair tone. The pulse button is big enough to facilitate when you are reaching behind legs or under arms, no awkwardness trying to find the button when you can’t see it. Another huge advantage is the continuous pulse motion. For larger areas you can hold the pulse button on and glide over the area while the laser pulses at the right level periodically. I covered my entire legs in about 10mins !!! The unit did feel hot but other than that there was no pain or discomfort. As for effectiveness, hairs are much less obvious and in some areas have never come back. No ingrown hairs and no surface redness – perfect and well worth the investment.
Hands down this is the best Home IPL machine I’ve used and continued to use- that’s a big statement by the way. I have tried several incarnations and brands of home IPL machines and I was impressed at the speed of results BUT I inevitably got out of the habit before I get to dead/dormant root stage and haven’t used an IPL for a while, I got out of the habit why? Because all my other machines have taken FOREVER to do just half a leg that by the time you’ve done a full legs, bikini, armpits you’ve written off an hour or more. Why? Because they take forever to ready between flashes.
This is where the Braun is amazing, I have other machines that do ‘glide mode’ but they are like a toddler and a 6’+ man in a three legged race compared to this one as it can only glide for a 2-3 flashes before needing a few seconds to reset and go again. this Braun IPL you hold down the button and glide pow! pow! Pow! Pow! Pow! Continuous flashes til I lift my finger to reposition.
It’s got three sensitivity settings, I don’t need feather settings but I know people who do, this is gender than other machines feather options if you choose the lightest feather option.
Efficacy I’ve seen some results after one use BUT I have used them intermittently over the last 4 years (not whilst pregnant etc though) so my hair may already have been affected.
Overall this is eye watering on the price but it completely outshines any other Home IPL I have used so far.
Very Impressive Gadge
First off, I know that this is expensive, most definitely a considered purchase, but when you consider the level of treatment you (and whoever else in the household) get, I think it’s really worth the investment.
It comes very well boxed and packaged, and I like that it comes with its own little storage/carry bag. It also comes with a Venus razor to start you off on your treatment journey, and a power cord. It’s fairly compact, and also very comfortable to hold. There is a chart to enable you to deliver the correct treatment for your skin type. There are also two heads, one for larger areas, and one smaller one for facial hair. Please note that it states you can only use this below the cheek bones, so no cheating and using on your eyebrows!
Then, it’s on with the action. The larger head enables you to cover larger areas, such as legs. The continuous movement means you can achieve some great results, in very good time. There’s no pain as such, just a little sensation that, to be honest, you forget about after the first couple of goes.
I have to say, I haven’t used one of these before, so I’m afraid I have nothing to compare this one to. However, I can certainly recommend this model. It works really, really well. I’d say it takes three treatments to start to notice a proper difference, but once you get those results, you’ll be ecstatic with your new home treatment system.
I’d say that this is as close to going to a salon as you would ever get, and I feel that the level of results justifies the cost. Look after this gadget, and it will serve you very, very well.
For hair professionals
Well it certainly works as hair removed 3 weeks back has resolutely refused to grow back. But even though it seems to be aimed at the home market it’s actually a professionals tool. It uses some magic called ISL to remove the hair and it comes with a battery of warning about not using near your eyes and not to look into the light. Like all these things results vary depending on your hair type and some folks will probably need a monthly top up. It’s quick and easy to use but whether you will want to fork out all that money depends on how much you hate shaving. Still, a quality product.
This is an outstanding piece of kit that costs big bucks. It really needs to show its worth over a long period and produce the goods over and above cheaper models. Why would you invest currently 600 (March 2019) otherwise? So, this is a holding review and I will look to update as time goes by and results are clearer.
I received this item on behalf of my partner. She was absolutely delighted to get it and thinks she can save considerable time and money normally spent in visiting salons. She likes the occasion of visiting, and sometimes the company, so not sure how likely that is, but as someone who likes to look her best and prefers to be all over ‘smooth’ she has complained about the price charged by salons.
So the packaging/box is attractive and reflects the price. Everything is nicely placed inside, really well constructed and appear to be of the right quality. The gold finish is full on luxury. Whether the 600 price reflects in the quality I’m not sure, hence my advice is to consider it as an investment that cuts out salon visits. The instructions are very clear and you can go through them and understand all you need to know. Once you understand the principles then usage is fine.
She tried it first on her right leg/calf area. Everything seemed fine so she did the lot! She’s probably fairly typical in complexion and hair colour so nothing to worry about compatibility wise. Some may be too light or dark so definitely check before splashing out. The light is bright and you shouldn’t look at it apparently; but it only seems to work when it’s properly against the skin! You should shave the area first, or use whatever method you normally employ to remove hair.
Results wise the missus is very happy and she feels it’s a first class IPL gadget. Highly recommended are her words. You will have to consider for yourself if one of the 150 or so models will give the same results and the same ease of use. I don’t know. She’s tried a cheaper model and was pretty happy with that too. Ultimately, I suspect it’s whether you really like going to the salon or not, and if not whether it’s worth 600 to you to DIY at home. I also must mention that this model is available at a reduced price is you shop around. In conclusion, I’d say very good but very expensive so 4**** seems right.

After 2 weeks use- Very easy to set up. It is a lot quicker than a cheaper model. It is also smaller so easier to use. The app is easy to set up and reminds you when you need to use the IPL which is handy. I am already finding that hair regrowth is less. The hairs are finer. Let’s see after 4 weeks as recommended.

This is a gorgeous hair removable piece of kit.
It is very tactile to use.
I like to keep my lower area clean and hair free and this shaver will certainly help.
It comes with all the attachments including a cloth pouch.
I will take this with me on my hols.
Only downside to me though is the price.
At six hundred quid it is so expensive.

Top notch product from a brand leade
This is a superb product. Excellent weight and quality, superb manufacturing tolerances and fine documentation fully justifies its price from the leading manufacturer of such items, it is probably true to say. My partner reported that this was the best of such product she had used. Excellent comfort and ergonomics, fine adjustability, not too heavy and a long battery life. This is ‘non-invasive’ technology that uses light pulses rather than blades (also known as IPL), hence the premium price. Highly recommended.
A smaller, faster IPL device.
This is smaller than my previous IPL devices, what this means, practically, is that it is easier to use on tricky areas like ankles, armpits and the face.
The smaller size also makes it easier and more comfortable to hold and use.
Use.
The device comes with two attachments, one for the body and one for the face, with the facial attachment being smaller.
This is a much needed perk as if you only have the larger body attachment and try to use it on places with curves and contours, like your top lip for example, the safety sensors don’t make contact with your skin and the laser won’t “zap”.
On the face this is to be used below your cheek bones only, so you can not use it on eyebrows.
Using it on my top lip and chin is quick and comfortable, I have just added this to my end of day facial cleansing routine and hardly notice any difference in the time it takes.
The “zaps” are pretty painless, even on the highest setting, if you have never used one before you may feel something similar to an small elastic band snapping on your skin, after you have used one for a while you don’t even get that sensation.
I have found that the most painful place to use this is your armpits and even there it’s not too bad, especially if you turn down the power.

Here’s where you need some patience, if you expect to see results straight away you are going to be disappointed as that is simply not how IPLs work. You need at least four weeks of use ( with any and every home IPL) before you notice a real difference. If you have used a salon for this treatment previously you will find that this is slower, this is because home IPLs are not as powerful as the regulated salon versions where you need training etc to operate them.

I have a “pale and interesting” complexion with dark brown hair and blue eyes, I need to shave my legs etc regularly and pluck my top lip/chin daily to keep the witch-ity bristles at bay.
After my first use it was as if I hadn’t done anything, hair growth was the same.
After the second use it didn’t really seem to do much either to be honest. However, after the third use things seemed a little different, I noticed that whilst I still experienced hair growth, it was thinner and “gappier ” and when I plucked that hair out it came away much easier than normal and without the normal painful tugging sensation.
After this it is where things got really good, and as long as I continue to use my IPL regularly I do not get facial hair growth( which is amazing as not do I feel better not seeing it sprouting up like an unwelcome quest it saves me a good ten minutes plucking time before I start my normal make up routine) if I get complacent and stop using my IPL the hair comes back -as if to remind me that I have been slacking!

What makes this IPL different is the speed you can treat large areas. By keeping the button depressed and the sensors on the attachment in contact with your skin the zaps keep coming. This means that you can cover your lower leg in minutes as you don’t have to stop, move the machine, zap, stop, move the machine, zap…..repeat. Being able to keep a flowing movement, almost like when you are shaving , meant I didn’t need to mark off areas I had already treated, which is what I have had to do with other IPLs.
Superior hair removal.
Braun are up there with Philips as a quality name in grooming for both men and women. This hair removal product works fabulously. A few minutes in each area that you want to remove hair from each day, and you should start to see some results. I have used something like this in the past, and whilst it was good and worked well, this is definitely the superior product, hence its lofty price tag. Comes with a nice pouch to keep it in. Charging it takes around an hour to give it a nice full charge. Really good.
