Eco-Drive | Purposeful Power

Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology powers your watch using natural or artificial light so you won’t have to worry about battery changes.

Light to Energy

Eco-Drive technology drives watches by capturing light and converting it into energy which is then stored in a permanently rechargeable lithium-ion cell.

Energy Storage

The watch keeps surplus energy in a rechargeable power cell. Designed to charge not just from the sun, but also from everyday light sources like indoor flourescents and desk lamps.

Recharges Continuously

Runs for months – even in darkness – with no need for costly battery replacements, so your watch can run forever and you never have to worry about it stopping.

I can not fault anything about this watch apart from reading the online manual to get it going , but I guaranty it’s worth it .

Adjusts itself depending on what time zone you’re in. Which is really handy!

Advertised as the most accurate watch you can buy … and it is to the split second. Start it off and you will never have to adjust anything again. If there is a negative, the watch strap could be a better quality.

Stylish watch that looks good on the wrist, took 2-3 days to fully charge and correctly set but this was in the winter so shorter days.
Nice contrast between the gold and stainless steel bracelet and watch body.

This is my second Citizen eco-drive watch, the first one still going strong after about 10 years. It’s a little more chunky than my original watch but not massive compared to some alternatives. The eco-drive solar power means no more visits to the jeweller to get batteries replaced, it just keeps going and going. The strap was easily adjusted and is comfortable. It has all the features you would expect from a modern chronograph plus the radio consoled time setting. Hopefully ( and I’m still to get my head around the instructions ) I won’t need to ever change the time setting in spring and autumn again. The world time settings are useful (if we’re ever allowed to travel again) and the alarm useful as a reminder to take your pills but unlikely to wake you up. I love my original Citizen watch and really hope this will be as good over the coming years.

This is much better than the pictures, loads of detail in the face. The included instructions are basic, but the online download PDF is brilliant. The battery was totally flat, so nothing worked. A few hours in the window daylight soon had it going and it set the time date automatically. Beautiful time piece, the best watch I have ever owned. I purchased the strap PIN removal tool too 5, glad I did

    Looks great and feels good.
Took a little bit to set up but that was down to having to wait for the battery to recharge, but once the battery was charged the instructions on the website where easy to follow.

A nice watch. However, do not expect much support from Citizen’s UK if you have any problems. I live in the Canary Islands and wondered if the radio time signal could be received here. All I was sent were multiple copies of the manual (which does not show Spain on the map). I would probably been better to have bought a cheaper, non radio updatable watch.

The moment I opened the box the watch set it self and began to function. I have slim wrists and the strap isn’t overly generous. I only had to have one link removed. Something to bear in mind. The company’s web site is been an issue. I’m having problems registering and there is no instruction manual in the box. So can’t really comment on the watches full function. But on the whole very pleased

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a lovely watch which I really wanted to love and keep for many years. However, I could not get it to receive the time signal from Germany, one of the main reasons for this purchase so I have really no option other than to return it, which I have done, a painless operation thanks to Amazon’s excellent return service, with the money being back in my account before they had received the item. I replaced it with another Citizen Eco-Drive watch which does not have the Atomic Clock time signal feature as I highly rate this company’s watches, especially considering their six-year guarantee.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBeautiful watch. Had to realign the hands as advised by the instructions, but once done runs like a charm. Updates every day via radio. Have seen this on sale in the high street for 469. Very happy with this watch, and the bracelet is very easy to adjust. Had a slight issue with the first one. Replaced without issue by Amazon and ask working beautifully

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersIt’s functional, stylish and comfortable to wear. Easy to use. A bit heavy but quickly can get use to it. Made in Japan. Features, 6 band wave ceptor, perpetual calendar, sapphire glass, alarm, chrono, tachymeter, wr200. Brancelet can be adjust by removing full or half links for a better fit. Solar powered. 1 sunny day can provide energy for about 6 months. Looks posh too. I would buy again.
Update 10.04.2020: After 2.5yrs i can surely say that this watch is really good choice. The solid link branceled put to the pouch to keep it in close to brand new condition and replaced by calf skin 24mm strap. I can feel the different as the watch lost its weight and gain the kind of vintage look [in my opinion anyway ;)] I forgot to mention at the first time that the luminous hand and dial are really nice blueish colour and lasts long too. Really happy of the purchase especially i see how much this watch costs now. Anyway it’s still worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good looking and functional watch. Five stars!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGreat watch, nice tech and adios batteries. Feels great, a bit heavy, not that much really, but you sense it is strong, well build. Citizen is a great brand, you won’t be disappointed. You won’t have to set the clock either; ever again. The only down side I see on this particular watch is that I can’t make it fit to my wrist; either it’s a bit loose or a little too tight…

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI would have given this 5 stars, as this was the best price that i could find on the internet at the time of purchase by a mile. I am also still seeing it for sale for 470 at a couple of well known retailers. However, although the watch was mint, and i couldn’t see any marks on whatsoever. The watch appeared to have been tampered with. When i mean tampered with, i am commenting on the fact that there was no clear protective sticky cover over the glass lens, and the clear sticky protective cover that was over the bracelet had been removed and re stuck down. (This was very evident) I was suspicious, that it may have been sent out to someone, and then returned. However, i guess i will never know. Apart from that, i can’t complain.
I have a few nice watches that i wear on special occasions, and this has now been added to my collection.
This is the very first watch that i have ever purchased online, and not physically tried on before buying. A very nice timepiece.(check out you tube, and you will see the reviews)

I wanted a chunky & solid looking watch with a stopwatch & alarm function that did not need any regular battery changes that looked like it was more expensive than it is and with a long warranty/guarantee period. This has a standard five year warranty – but once I registered it together with the movement number and date of sale (all received in the package from Amazon) on Citizen’s uk website – Citizen awarded me with another year of warranty (so six years in total). – My only slight gripe is that although you can easily switch between several pre-ordained time zones visible on the bottom of 3 mini dials on the face “Central Europe, London, and various time zones within USA”, I have yet to see how you would change it to a time zone that is not already pre-ordained (Singapore, Japan, or Australia for example), – but Seeing as I’m unlikely to travel to those countries anytime soon – It is not a major concern to me. I would recommend buying a “metal watch strap adjuster” in addition to the watch.

This Is a very elegant watch. Coupled with technology which makes it a great watch to keep as a best watch as it’s aleays accurate.

One thing worth mentioning , when you first get the watch it will take a few days to get charged before any of the functions work. This is not clear in the manual. And I thought my watch was faulty, just bear with it, and keep it in light.

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersHaving had Citizen Eco watches for a number of years, I thought I’d treat myself to an upgrade for Christmas. This watch is stunning for the price in both technology and appearance. It’s weighty, very good looking (I reckon a touch of the Rolex about it) and easy to read. The amazing thing is being radio controlled it is always spot on wherever you are. Plus it has an automated function for BST, no winding, no battery required as is powered by light! Really beautiful watch.

Keeps accurate time. Days of week is small and changing time zone only occurs automatically if you go to the US. Changing the time zone manually is not intuitive and neither is using any of the watches other functions so keeping the manual handy is a must. Having said that I do not use the stop watch or alarm; I just wanted and accurate timepiece that looked good, wasn’t heavy and was eco powered.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersA great watch, I love it. Well made & finished. Solid. Weighty, but not too heavy.
World time (to an extent). Solar powered. Saphire crystal. 200mtr water proof. Self updating via radio time signal.
Function rich: Hours, minutes, seconds day & date, 24hr indicator. Alarm. Chronograph.
Tachymeter function – but as that requires maths magic, I gave that bit a miss! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tachymeter_(watch) .
Probably even more, but that is plenty for me. How they fit all this clever tech in a watch is a mystery to me!
The face is clear & not too crowded – easily readable.

Sensibly priced for what you get too.
I was looking at Tag’s & Omega’s but you get so much more for your money here!

Although there are luminescent markings, they aren’t very bright.
If Citizen could get together with these guys https://www.nitewatches.com/gb/ they would have a world beater in this watch!

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis watch is beautiful. I bought it after my Accurist watch started to fall apart after 12 years of wearing it daily. I could easily have had it repaired but happened to see this in an airplane magazine and eventually decided to buy it.

It arrived dead, but after about 2 hours under a bright light, it came to life. Easy to set the time, but of course you don’t have to – just run a manual radio reception and it will update itself (I live in south east London and get a strong signal, from the tower in Germany). It also does this automatically at 2am every day, so whenever I compare it to the time on my laptop, or at the train station, it is always within half a second. Brilliant.

I have relatively thin wrists and had four links removed, but that’s no biggie.

The only problems with this watch are:

    – Stopwatch doesn’t show subseconds
    – Can’t use a stopwatch immediately; you have to put it into Chrono mode first, then wait a few seconds for it to sort itself out

    The other advantages are:

    – it has an internal calendar with month and year* (*more precisely, it just know the number of years since the last leap year, which is good enough until the year 2100)
    – the hands and 12 markers glow in the dark
    – it looks really stylish

Was looking for a new watch as a treat to myself. Went to few jewellers and looked at the offerings from the big brands (Tag, Rado etc). Nothing to excite me and then this watch caught my eye. Did not realise it was a Citizen. It looked very nice and expensive but I was pleasantly surprised at the price tag. The salesperson could not tell me more about the watch so I looked online at the spec etc. Very impressive! I then saw this watch on Amazon at a discount so without a second thought I bought it. Normally I take ages to think before making a decision.
Had it for a couple of weeks now and I and I am very happy with it. Excellent timepiece , looks good and already I have had complementary comments from people.
I took the a couple of links out from the bracelet myself which was straight forward ( i looked on youtube).

Never a ‘big face’ watch fan, in fact never a fan of watches but something stirred when I saw this watch. Boy am I glad I bought it Everyone passes comment and when told how it works the interest level rises. My two sons now know what they want for their birthdays, at last it’ll be something worth having. A big thank you to Citizen. Money well spent. Well happy.
Just thought I’d add this to my previous review of 2013. It’s 4yrs on and this watch looks as good now as the day I opened the case and watched (no pun intended) it spring to life. I have not had one single issue with it. Keeps perfect time. Changes summer and winter everything about this watch is cock-on. Have bought other AT watches (Citizen) and all have been top notch. Happy days.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersHave waited a long time to treat myself to this watch. Now I finally have it am really pleased with it. Keeps perfect time, is very good quality and keeps perfect time to the second (with the speaking clock!). Is rfeally cool that it is radio controlled. It says in the instructions to put it on a window ledge or near the window to get a signal, I guess it will depend on where you are, but I put it away in a draw at night and it manages to update with a high or medium signal most nights! And as for the reviewer earlier that complained about the strap being to small, am confused by that, I am a man with not skinny wrists by any stretch of the imagination, and I have just had the strap made smaller to fit me more comfortably!!

Finally a well done to Amazon and their delivery service, ordered it at about 20.45 in the evening paid for a next day evening delivery admittidley, but even so arrive by courier at 18.50 the next evening! impressed.

If you are looking for a quality time piece that looks good and works well you could do a lot worse than buy one of these or any citizen watch to be honest.
