The picture has an odd colour space that i wish i could change, and the resolution doesnt look like its 2k but thats probably because the sensor size is very small to fit in the camera. The custom alarm is very quiet. I have not yet got the talk function working; it takes too long. The app isnt very optimised, probably why the camera view rotation takes ages.
Over all the camera is cute and easy enough to use.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersThis Ezviz C6 2K+ Smart Home Camera arrives in a really nice looking box. Inside, along with the camera itself, is a USB power cable, a USB power adapter, a ceiling/wall mounting plate, 3 screws (and wall plugs), a drill template and a Quick Start Guide.

Straight out of the box the camera looks and feels high quality and extremely well made. It is 10cm wide by 9.7cm tall, and is 10cm deep. On the front is the lens itself, a hole for the microphone, a status indicator and two IR LEDs. Pushing the lens section up reveals a cover, behind which is the microSD card slot and reset button. On the rear is the speaker grill, RJ45 network port and microUSB socket. On the base are slots for attaching the camera to the ceiling mount. Unfortunately there is no 1/4″ screw socket to allow you to attach it to other types of mounts and brackets.

The 3-pin USB Power Adapter has a single USB-Type A socket in its rear. Its output is rated at 5V 2A 10W. The USB cable is about 2.9m long.. It has a USB-A connector at one end and a microUSB connector the other.

The Quick Start Guide is extremely basic, just concerning itself with getting you to download to App. Thankfully a better User Guide is available within the App itself, or for download from the Ezviz website.

You have no choice but to download the Ezviz software in order to set up and use this camera. It was easy to find and download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. However, the App gets off to a bad start by trying to install a tracking cookie, and giving you no choice but to set up a Ezviz account, which means giving out your e-mail address.

After this, setting up the camera via the App over Wi-Fi was fairly painless, although some of the on-screen instructions could be a little clearer. The camera can connect to both 2.4GHz and 5Ghz Wi-Fi networks, which is very convenient, especially given the increasing prevalence of 5GHz Wi-Fi. You are also meant to be able to set it up over a wired network connection, but for whatever reason, I was unable to get this to work. Also, during reviewing this camera, I had reason to reset it. Afterwards I was unable to get the camera to connect to my Wi-Fi again. It took many, many attempts over the space of several hours to finally get it to connect, even though I was following the same instructions each time and nothing about my Wi-Fi network had changed.

    The camera has a 4mm F1.6 lens that has a 79 horizontal and 42 vertical viewing angle. The sensor has a resolution of 1440p (2560 x 1440). When viewing/recording you have the option to select one of four resolutions: Standard (768 x 432), Hi-Def (1280 x 720), Full HD (1920 x 1080), and Ultra HD (2560 x 1440).

Image quality is very good for a camera in this price bracket. The low light Starlight and night vision image quality was also very good. According to Ezviz, the sensor is said to have a maximum frame rate of 25fps, however whether recording live over Wi-Fi or LAN, or taking the video files directly off the microSD card, the frame rate seemed locked at a disappointing 15fps for all resolutions, except the lowest, which was locked at an even worse 10fps.

The video files can be recorded to either a microSD card (up to 256GB in size), to Ezviz’s optional cloud storage (which charges a monthly subscription), or direct to your Apple/Android device if you are recording live.

The software is very well made and has a great many features. It is designed to work alongside this camera as well as many other Ezviz devices. The user interface works well with both phones and the larger screens found on tablets.

You can view the camera via Wi-FI or over LAN using the Ezviz App. Disappointingly some features (such as the ability to talk through the camera from your device), are not available when using LAN). You can share your cameras live view with others. And you can also use the camera with Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Assistant (although I was unable to test this). I was not able to find a way to connect to the camera using ONVIF or RTSP.

The App’s main camera screen allows you to watch the live video feed, record live video, take pictures, rotate the camera the camera, or talk through the camera via your devices microphone. You can also see a history of any events that were recorded on the SD card, or to the Cloud, and quickly and easily scroll through them and play the one you want. There is also a filter system that also allows you to search through these clips either by specifying a certain date and/or by how the event was triggered (Human Detected, Pet Detected, Hand Waving, Abnormal Sound), which is very handy.

Delving into the settings and there are many useful features here, including the ability to:
    – Set which “Intelligent Detection” options to use (Image Change, Human Shape, Pet Shape, Abnormal Sound and Gesture Recognition)
    – Set whether to allow the camera to zoom in and track human movement as well as whether you want it to follow that human around.
    – Set whether to record to the SD Card continuously 24/7, or just when events happen.
    – Ser whether or not you want the video to be Encrypted.

It was good to see that the camera gives the ability to encrypt the video feed, to add a layer of security. It is just such a pity that whilst it does this, on the other hand it tries to install a tracking cookie on setup, and (on my iPad at least) repeatedly tries to gain access to ALL of my photos, even though it already has permission to use a specific folder to save its video and photos to.

The speaker on the camera is loud and clear and being able to use the microphone on your device to talk through the camera is useful.

The Pan and Tilt system works reasonably well, so long as you have a good network connection. Even on the best connection, there can be a couple second delay between pressing the ‘joystick’ and the camera responding when the camera is set to its highest resolution setting . If your network connection is poorer than this, then the response is longer and it can even cause the camera to get stuck and reboot. Dropping the camera down to a lower resolution makes things run more smoothly and respond quicker, but obviously makes it a lot less convenient to use. A really nice feature is that instead of using the pan and tilt ‘joystick’ controls to move the camera, you can take a 360 (horizontal) picture. You can then tap anywhere on that picture, and the camera will automatically turn to face that exact position.

The cameras AI and motion detection worked very well, and went a long way to cutting out the false positives you often get with such security cameras. The gesture detection also worked well. Having the camera track and follow people and pets was less successful though. Whilst it did a good job picking up the person in the first place, the camera would often move back and forth, even if the person was stood still. It was also easily fooled by someone changing direction, even when moving at quite a slow speed. Whilst this isn’t so much of a problem if you are stood in front of the camera (as you can tell when the camera has lost you and you can either wait or move position to get it to catch up), it is a problem if you are hoping the camera will follow a child or pet around the room.

The notification system also worked well, with notifications usually received within 5 seconds of the trigger event. There are plenty of options as to how you want notifications handled, including setting a schedule as to what times through the day you want to receive them.

One frustrating issue with watching live, is that after about 10 minutes, the app puts up a pop-up asking if you want to continue watching. You have 5 seconds to respond to this, at which point the feed is cut. I understand this might be a useful feature for some, but for those wanting to monitor their camera over a long period of time, having to constantly interact with the app every few minutes is very frustrating. There should be an option to keep the feed live continuously.

Another negative is that there is no way to download the files from the SD card remotely. You either manually have to remove the microSD card and copy them to your computer manually, or you have to use the App to play back the recorded files back and as they play, use the App itself to record them in real time, before transferring the resulting file to your computer. This makes it very frustrating if you are wanting to archive or edit your footage.

Something else that will reduce how useful the camera is, is the fact that you can’t disable the IR Lights. The manual states the option should be in the software, but it isn’t, even though I have the latest firmware release. This means you can’t use the camera at night, to look out through your window, because the IR lights will reflect off the glass and blank out the image.

Another niggle is the fact that there is no way to remove either the Ezviz watermark or time and date stamp from the video. I understand why it is there, but the option to remove these would be beneficial to some.

In conclusion, this is a really good looking and well made security camera. The image quality is excellent and a big step up from the 1080p resolution cameras you often find in these types of cameras, as is the quality of the AI system for detecting humans, pets and gestures. It also has a lot of features s that make it stand out above the competition, such as the ability to use 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks as well as LAN, the motion tracking, fully features software. Etc.

However, whilst I love this camera, and do recommend it, it does have some annoying issues that for me prevent it getting the full 5 stars. Locking the frame rate to 15fps is disappointing on a camera with this level of image quality and that is (in part) being sold as a camera to watch fast moving children and pets. Making it so that the user has to interact with the app every few minutes or else the feed stops is also extremely frustrating. The pan and tilt responsiveness is too slow, and on anything less than a perfect network connection, likely to cause the camera to get stuck and reboot. And whilst it might not affect as many people, the inability to use ONVIF, turn off the IR lights, or to download files remotely from the microSD card will limit the usefulness of this camera to some.

I love this camera and really hope that many of these issues will be solved over time with software updates. But for now sadly, I must give it 4 stars.

Excellent Security Camera With A Few Annoying Issues.

An indoor tracking camera. It has a dual purpose – As an alert for a babies room, etc, and as a security camera. It detects movement and sound, which then are communicated to your smartphone wherever you are in the world. The camera also automatically tracks movement when it detects it. You can pay a subscription to upload the footage to the cloud or store it in and SD card concealed in the base. Two way communication is installed too, so that the person being tracked and yourself can talk to each other.

So far so good, and the high-quality 2K footage and colour night vision are unexpected bonuses in a camera at this fairly affordable price point.

The negatives are the sometimes jerky movements of the camera, and the rather complex app that you need to set so that you don’t get an alert every time the cat yawns.

However, none of these cameras are absolutely perfect – it’s still an emerging technology, really – and this is a pretty good buy at this price point.

After many Ezviz cameras and products, I can say they are one of most praised and well known for quality and I can confirm this once again.

With one of the biggest feature of the camera which is detect, zoom and follow this camera stands out compared to other indoor cameras on the market. As usually, connection between camera and the phone is super simple and no complicated steps are implemented in the whole process. After connecting to the camera you will be able to watch recording on the go by simply using phone only.

Other big feature which is voice or waving activation allows you to remotely use some of controls such as photo taking or initiate video call on your phone.
Not only this camera can be called indoor but it can be called baby monitoring as it can alert others if noise change is noticed such as crying.

Great thing is that camera has both 2.4GHz and 5GHz band WiFi connection possibilities as most devices are able to use only 2.4GHz band which can get annoying and this feature is being implemented in devices at really slow pace.

Other features such as pet detection and two way audio are additional to all above which are great to have as sometimes they can be really useful for personal adjustments.

Another great product from EzViz but even if all the features are taken into consideration I still find it a little bit high in the price for indoor camera only.

With so many security cameras available on the market it can be difficult to decide which to buy. What sets this little camera apart is its motion tracking and scanning facility and wide field of view. A useful addition is its ability to detect and track movement, with the ability to restrict detection to ‘human detection’, a feature that causes the camera to ignore pets and very small children.

Setting it up with the app was fairly straightforward and you’ll be prompted to sign up to the ‘CloudPlay’ storage plan. You do get an opportunity to practice with it for a limited period free. Thereafter, you can opt to keep video for 7 days or 30 days. Alternatively, you can store video in the device using an SD card.

If you are using it as a security camera, you will probably want to sign up for ‘CloudPlay’, if however you are simply using it as a child or pet monitor, you can use the SD storage option to replay, or save recorded video.

I found the night vision to be quite acceptable, and the detail captured to be of a very high quality. However, I found the AI Auto Zoom tracking didn’t work for me at first because it was not set by default.

You can find a user manual from the Ezvizlife support portal on the web, just look for the C6 User Manual. It won’t take long to read, but there is everything you need to know encapsulated within it.

You can install a Micro SD card by rotating the lens upwards until the SD slot appears. To change other settings there is a gearwheel icon in the top right of the device camera view image in the App. If you can’t see it, tap the image and it will appear. This is where you set the detection parameters (Human, Pet, Gesture Recognition etc.) and this is also where you will need to alter the tracking to Flexible View under the PTZ settings. Once enabled the tracking and scanning worked as expected.

The tracking and scanning was a little jerky, but it works well enough and zooms in on the subject. Using the App you can also control the camera view and sound can be enabled both from and to the device.

The camera is able to be ceiling mounted using the included mounting plate, and the USB power feed cable is relatively long. You will however need a nearby power source and not many places have high level power points.

At just under 90, at the time of writing, it is certainly one to consider if you are looking for an indoor security/monitoring camera.

A good option if looking for an indoor video monito

This has been a really useful device for our home, we use it to watch our dog whilst we are out of the house.

The camera provides a good quality wide angle image and is also capable of moving through a full 360 degree circle as well as up and down, allowing us to track our dog wherever she goes.

The two way microphone is another great addition which allows us to communicate with our dog even whilst out of the house and can be armed if needed to detect human motion.

The cloud storage is a chargeable extra but you can use an SD card and this is fine for me. Overall this is a really good quality camera and I’m very impressed.

    A great indoor camera.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWhen is a CCTV camera more than a camera?
When it’s an automatic tracking device that also alerts you to movement and allows 2 way sound to your app from anywhere in the world! It’s neat, modern, and has a lot of intelligent features built-in. But is it perfect? Not quite. The camera is great, but the app is not as smart as it could be.

Looking at the camera, I immediately;y had the impression this was well built, modern looking and with a distinctly friendly feel. The cool black and white colours blend in great with any decor. The camera is powered from a micro-USB lead (supplied) and can be connected either through wi-fi or directly with an RJ45 lead to your network hub.

    The camera is designed
to be controlled via the app EZVIZ that can be downloaded from the app store or google play store. When you first plug the camera into the power USB supply a voice prompt instructs you to download the app and pair the camera to your device. This was pretty straightforward as most of these devices now follow a similar protocol.

The EZVIZ app is a generic program for other devices such as doorbell devices as well as other camera types. You can also monitor and control more than one camera from the main control panel. The app can control functions like volume, tilt and pan, zoom, microphone, snapshot, or video. In essence, it provides high-quality 2k streaming from any global location with 2 way speaking, if you want to communicate.

The camera also has options for storing data via a micro-USB card or cloud storage. Using the card or storage allows you to playback recorded sessions. The idea of the camera is that it can detect movement and when this happens it can send an alert to your phone or other devices that something is happening. This can also be triggered via sound if you wish. You also have the option of the camera to track the movement, zoom in (with PIP) picture in picture and set to detect human movement only. It can also be used as a pet monitor to keep an eye on your dog or cat when you are out.

I did find that the app was not always reliable at connecting, although this could have been a network issue. Also, you have to be wary about notifications, especially if you have a lively pet that’s always moving around, or you will have numerous alerts. When such an alert arrives, you have the option to view and see what’s happening in live time and also to interact, by turning your phone mic on and talk to the camera. This can be heard clearly at the camera end.

The camera is only intended for inside use, so using this as an outside spy camera is not advised, as it’s not weather resistant. However, as a child, elderly person or pet monitor, it’s pretty impressive. Works well and gives an excellent image day or night, with the added bonus of recording the action and 2-way conversation if you need it.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI found this to be an impressive camera. The quality feels good and it’s fully packed with features making it super universal. It was well packed and comes with a USB cable, 3 pin wall plug, instruction manual and a wall mountable bracket for if you want to install this on the wall or ceiling.

I found the camera is really easy to set up and to use. It works with Wi-Fi so you don’t need any extra wire or cables. I was impressed with the picture quality it’s quite clear so you can see what happening in the day or night with it’s night vision feature.

I love the feature it has with the 360 degree view, you can control what you want to see and you can even set it to private mode where the lens will be hidden for your privacy. The 2 way call system is good so you can call your pets remotely but the speaker is a bit quiet on the camera so you will have to speak up. The app is very good with ample of options to select from and it’s very easy to use. The motion detector feature I found to be fairly accurate and it will notify me when motion has been detected and you can store the footage in the cloud for easy access.

Overall, I found this to be an excellent all in one product it can do it all, bit pricey but worth the money in my opinion would just have loved to have seen a better microphone and speaker on the camera but it does the job.

Hope you found my review useful.

This is sold at a premium price but has premium features that make it worthwhile, dual-band wifi is a nice touch as most are just 2.4ghz, it also has smart algorithms which can detect babies crying also auto zoom and tracking is a very smart feature, set up was simple and I can check in from my phone wherever I am, the 2k video quality is a big step up from my old 1080p especially visible when zooming in I can see real details, this is by far the best indoor camera I have tested yet, highly recommended to all.
