Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersSet up took a while. But worth doing properly. Put boundary/guide wire fixing pegs closer together if ground undulating. Copes with slopes and uneven ground with ease. I now love cutting the lawn. I could watch it all day.

This robotic mower from Gardena is just spectacular. I’m one of those people who doesn’t like mowing the grass, for me it’s a chore that I could do without and this mower means I can do just that. All I have to do is trim the edges which is way less hassle than cutting the whole lawn.

I have to admit, it took me quite a while and lot of effort to get it up and running as installing the boundary wire took me ages. I made the mistake of not mowing the grass first though so that didn’t help lol. It also doesn’t help that I have very uneven and lumpy grass so I had to use a lot of the ground pegs to make sure it was flush with the grass. So while the boundary wire is a pain to set up, it’s only something you have to do once and it’s the same for most robotic mowers. You get a couple of rulers built in to the packaging that you can use to make sure you leave the correct boundary wire clearance which I thought was really cool.

Once you have it set up it’s runs like a dream and effortlessly goes around doing it’s thing. It’s handles the incline of my garden with no issues and is so quiet I can’t even tell it’s running unless I’m outside looking at it. This thing is definitely one of the coolest things I’ve ever owned and I love it.

    My new best friend. 😅

This robotic lawnmower came nicely boxed. It is a very neat unit and comes with various booklets and boundary wire. This particular model is for lawns up to 300m2. We set this up on our back lawn which is quite a simple, flat rectangle with no obstacles.
I found it quite hard work to set up (although I would find a kettle hard to set up!!) but there are videos online that you can watch to aid set up. You will need an outdoor electric source near where the lawnmowers hub wants to be set up. The boundary wire connects to the back of the hub and needs to be set around the perimeter of where you want it to mow. It takes 60 minutes to charge and gives 65 minutes of mowing time once fully charged. It is great to see it in action and it is a massive time saver. It mulches the grass (chops it and throws it back onto the lawn) which makes the grass look better and healthier.
I really like this and would like to get the bigger version for our front garden. A big expense but worth it in the hours saved when time is very precious.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI got this for my elderly parents to use, hoping it’ll make their life a bit easier, and the first thing to note is that this is not a case of unboxing, charging and off you go… beautiful lawns with no effort. It would be lovely to think this is the case (as I naively did)… there is quite a bit of set-up involved.

There are number of videos online which help with the set-up process so I would definitely recommend checking these out so you will know what is going to be involved. It is a lot of initial work with numerous “what went where and how?” conversations and constantly going back to reference the videos and manual.

Basically a boundary wire has to be installed around the entire perimeter of your garden, pinning it down into the ground so that the robot will stay in that area. A guide wire will then need to be laid so the robot can return to the charge base. Wires can’t be crossed and need to be cut etc etc. Finally you will ideally need an outside mains socket no more than 5 metres away and ideally a level place for the charging base station so that your robot can return and charge.

This all needs to be done before you can set your robot off and relax with that well earned cup of tea, gin & tonic, ice cold beer… or something stronger.

The robot is extremely well built and and will just get on with the cutting when they have it running. I’m expecting that in the spring and summer months it’ll be more operational than it is now in December – though it is of course an all weather machine.

So if you have the time (and patience!) as well as being aware of what needs to happen, then this robot mower is brilliant.

A robot lawnmower is a bit too good to be true, so I tried to play down my optimism for this. But thankfully it’s brilliant!

It takes a while to set up, but the instructions are clear and I followed them to the letter. In short:

    * Peg a boundary wire around the area you want it to cut, and clip both ends into the docking station
    * A guide wire that clips into the docking station on meets a small loop you out in the boundary wire. At that loop, the wires are all connected together
    * Plug docking station into mains and set date etc on digital screen
    * Once charged off it goes!

There are lots of settings for scheduling cutting that I will use once the grass starts growing again properly in the spring.

I’ve got a basic lawn, but the instructions clearly explain how to deal with rocks or trees or flower islands etc.

My garden is sloping and is bumpy, anything but a bowling green. But this mower coped perfectly well with it, I was extremely impressed! It’s a dream come true!

So I’ve always wanted one of these robot grass cutters after I saw them on the grounds of a chteau in France.
We have always used a standard push along lawnmower however I can say that this is definitely the way forward. It keeps the grass looking neat and tidy at all times and is super easy to use. There is an antitheft function which allows you to put in a passcode to activate. There is almost no sound which makes it perfect to use in the hot summer evenings when you don’t want to disturb your neighbours. It’s also means you can enjoy the evening without having to worry about cutting the grass.Setting it up was easy and finding an area for the charging station was simple as we have one on the outside wall near the grass. Setting the Boundry was also as easy as we have a rectangular garden there’s not much in the way however if you were to have a more dynamic garden you may find setting a Boundry wire a little more difficult. If you love gadgets, don’t like or can’t cut the grass this is the perfect mower. Would recommend.

I have always used traditional mowers and this one is some new experience for me. And after trying it a few times and playing around with it, I can tell its a very good addition to my lawn care tools. Plus it will remove a need to walk around while cutting grass on hot summer evenings. Instead, I will enjoy a cold lagger and this little robot will do all for me. However to achieve what, you will need a lot of time., because installing it is the headache.
Setting up station is easy, but need to find a suitable place so the cable could reach a socket, for charging purposes, mine is near garage so it was not a problem. Next step is putting a boundary and guidewire, which is the biggest headache. And with a help of my friend, we managed to instal it in around half a day. Because you need to plan its whole territory, as well need to measure distances from the trees, to other immovable objects so the mower itself would not hit them all the time and get stuck. Manual are not the best on explaining all of this, so we included the help of youtube as well. In another hand, it was a fun weekend, as it can be a little project of a day.It has plenty of features but I really like it can work even while it is raining. Moreover, it has a frost detection which if detected prevents a mower of mowing grass, which in the end are better for the lawn. The blades are adjusted very easily as well, just with a rotary dial, and are really sharp. Operating the mower is quite easy as well as it has not too many modes. But it is still more than enough for a simple lawn outside the house. As well its really silent, which was a really nice surprise for me.
Overall it is a really good machine to have at home, especially if having a bigger garden. However, it does the same job as a simple mower, as well even after it is done you need to go around and do cut some corners yourself. Nevertheless, if you have a bit of extra money and want to have an easy day then need to cut grass its perfect thing to have.

First things first things you need to realise with this robot my way is that you don’t simply switch it on and leave it to work. I would strongly recommend watching all the installation videos that you can watch for free on the gardena website. You also need to work out if you have the right type of garden for this. For me this was ideal for my back garden as it is in closed and secure.

The robot itself can operate in both wet and dry conditions, so although we are in November I was able to do the initial set up with the Boundry wire and setting up the home position for the mower to allow it to do the last cuts before winterising it in December.

The installation took me about five hours in total and it is worth pointing out that you will need somewhere to plug the transformer in within 5 m of the base station. I was fortunate as I already have power installed throughout the garden to power a number of all year round lights and also seasonal festive installations from the previous occupier so for me it was simply a case of plugging it in one of the IP rated outdoor power sockets.

The robot itself can be programmed to cut at different times on different days and you can just pretty much leave it to do it thing as the principle of this mower is that it’s just takes off a little bit at a time meaning you don’t need to collect or gather up any grass at any stage it’s instead cut it into very small pieces the breakdown and will in time create a healthy lawn environment.

We have a small dog and children one of my considerations was safety about how it would work in this environment but I’m quite happy it is safe and when required I can simply tell her to go back to its base station for a period of time if the children are playing. In all honesty I wouldn’t worry about the safety as it is clearly been thought through extensively.

I intend to update this review in time in the spring when I have a better chance to ascertain the Cutting performance because at the moment the grass is wet so although I can see it is clearly being cut at least I have seen in the past two days it’s hard to ascertain how good the quality of the Cut is.

There is no way you could leave this if you had an open garden as it would be quite an attraction to thieves and even though it has built in pain security the point would be that it would be stolen and then they will discover it was pretty useless without all the additional perimeter wire and the correct pin code but by that point you have already lost the mower.

As it goes back to the charging base when it needs energy you have no concerns about battery life as it can manage itself as required.

We were tired to spend hours every week on our backyard.

Gardena Robot is the solution to your problems

The quality seems very sturdy and durable

    Here the benefits:
1- ‘easy’ to install ( it does require to read the manual and follow carefully steps and suggestions)

2- the grass looks better than before and it does all the jobs for you

3- it’s silent and works great on the rainy weather

    4- easily programmable

This is the first time I’ve ever used one of these so if I can do it anyone should be able to, my lawn is a medium square so offered no real problems or chances to fully go all out but I quick laying out of boundary wire and guide wire which is easy to do and the rest is pretty straight forward as the instructions are very clear, cutting wise it’s good but I guess the acid test will be going forward with maintenance, keeping it clean is also a breeze as you can just hose it down, it’s a very well made mower, the anti theft feature is a brilliant idea also, all in all it’s a brilliant little mower that I’m sure will keep my garden grass cut on time and very precisely.
