I researched the system online and watched a couple of Youtube videos explaining how to install it so was confident ot would be a straightforward install. The wiring and backplate were identical to the 7 day programmer I wanted to replace so it was an absolute doddle to fit. Took me less than 30 minutes to have the system up and running with Alexa and phone apps working great.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersCan’t tell the difference between this and the large hive thermostat that my friend has. This looks better, is smaller and all the functions on the app are the same. Save yourself the money and get the mini

Smart appearance. Neat and finish compatible with any decor. Easy to operate either by App or manually.

Moving from the rather clunky Worcester Bosch to the Hive is the best thing we’ve done in terms of ease & flexibility. The stat is very easy to set up & use & can be changed in seconds if the temperatures aren’t quite suitable. We have the Hive app set up on two phones & one tablet, so the temperature & all settings can be done without leaving your seat and on the move anywhere.
The geolocation facility is useful in case you forget to turn the heating down before leaving the house. Because our combi is under warranty I had the Hive professionally installed by the supplier, the Worcester Bosch combi is quite tricky to pull apart if you’re unfamiliar with them, albeit the wring is quite simple. I bought a couple of metres of 4 core cable prior to the engineer visit so the charge was labour only.
All in all we’re extremely pleased with it & I’d highly recommend.

I’m not an expert and enjoy a challenge so took on the installation armed with YouTube. Took a couple of hours but got up and running beautifully. Good app, good range on the hub, happy customer!

im a heating engineer and recently upgraded my home controls, being wireless i was able to fit in optimum position for my home, setup and programming is simple but it is useful to connect hub before you start to allow it time to update which makes pairing process easie

Installed this thermostat and some radiator valves from Hive now.
In terms of just this thermostat, it installed easily enough to my boiler and controls the heating without any issues. In the hive app, this shows a graph of how warm it has been, although some views are paywalled and I keep accidentally hitting those buttons (just means i get told I need to pay to access those pages).
For controlling the heating it works great.

In terms of hive overall and not just this thermostat – The radiator valves are connected now but I wish you could link a couple devices together, e.g. 2 rad thermostats if they’re in the same room.
The rad thermostats DON’T keep a history of the temperature so you can only see current temperature.
To setup a schedule, you need to do it against every single device. You can’t copy a schedule from one to another. My house has 10 radiators (now 8 on hive) so… setup was a little tedious.
The rad valves can turn on the heating but it does seem to have a delay each time. Not really sure what that’s about… Not a long delay at least.

Overall for hive, it works, it’s ok… but its not the most responsive system and it really could do historical temperature per radiator valve too.

Found the installation straightforward, using it to control the house room temperature. Pairing up the receiver to access via the internet to be able to use the phone app wasn’t an immediate success and took a little time to sync so you need to be patient.

The thermostat isn’t fixed so you can move it to the room you’re using at the time. I generally use the phone app to schedule on/off times and boost mode if the weather is particularly cold and I want an hours heating outside the programme. Now its in its a wonderful tool to be able to change the programme ready for you when you’re leaving your work place or from the comfort of your bed.

I installed this myself in less than 5 minutes. Unscrew the bottom of a WR1 British Gas wireless receiver and slip this on, screw in and you’re sorted.

Never understimate the comfort of changing the temp from bed.

Very easy to fit and worked with Gledhill boilermate, certainly improved our mornings waking up to a warm house

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThe mini version suits me as I like to use an app to operate devices if I can. It saved on buying the more expensive Hive thermostat.
It all connected straight away for me – other seems to have encountered difficulties. The receiver will need wiring into your boiler. In my instance this was a single (combi boiler) involving 4 wires, but you do need to be confident of household wiring to complete it.
The hub connects to the Hive server and the thermostat. The thermostat connects to the receiver. The Hive app controls things via the Hive server. Operation has very little lag.
The Hive app is fairly limited but does all that I need – setup heating schedules and override short cuts etc. I also connected to Alexa and can control temperature etc using voice commands if needed.
The thermostat default is off when not touched to save batteries and some might want more from this – for me I don’t really need to see the thermostat as I have everything that I need on the app.
I’m not sure about cost savings using Hive – I really got it more for convenience. I think to really save money you need to keep on top of usage, which this will help with, but it comes with an initial cost of course
Early days but so far it works well straight out of the box.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this for my mum who’s elderly and was really struggling to control her heating. This has made life so much easier because I can now keep her flat lovely and warm for her all from my phone.
It’s nice that hive have even made it that I could add her home to my account so I didn’t need to keep signing in and out for both hour homes.
Paired with the hive TRV’s and I don’t think I could ask for any better system.

Bought to replace a Heatmiser smart controller which was a nightmare to get working when power or Internet were interrupted. This doesn’t have that issue, connects easily. Only downside was the wireless remote doesn’t have a stand, got an after market one also from Amazo

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI would say this is probably one of the best devices I’ve had for controlling the heating. I would advise those who are going to buy one of these devices to get the receiver installed by a trained engineer as installing this was NOT easy, even for me!! If you know what you’re doing then great, If you don’t then think about the added TOTAL cost of an engineer plus the cost of this device!!!!!!!!
(Some electrical engineers can charge up to 100 to install)…!!!! After I did eventually get it installed the phone app is brilliant and easy to use. Hive had cracked it with simple easy-to-use instructions within the app and it does everything for you when installing the device. I’ve always had wireless wifi thermostats in the past especially when I had a new boiler installed and this is one of the best. I like the fact you can control your heating anywhere around the world which is brilliant for when you are going on holiday!!
My next task with this device will be adding the additional thermostats to all the radiators in the house and having all of them connected to the same app but be warned there a bit pricy and recuperating the cost will take longer to get back over time through reducing your gas bill…!!!! I also love the bit where the thermostat can detect motion, with its built-in “Motion Sensor” feature so if you go out and forget to turn your heating off, HIVE will do it for you!!! (You have to program it to do this by the way)..!!! These devices will work on ANY boiler or heating system so don’t be put off!!
