About Us

When the Hewlett-Packard Company (HP) was founded in 1939, the world was a very different place. There were no fully electronic computers. The only printers were industrial-sized printing presses. Palo Alto, California was composed mostly of fruit orchards. The internet was decades away from fruition.

The storied history of HP coincides with the development of home computing and the rise of Silicon Valley. HP’s innovations were instrumental in making home computers and printers more affordable for the average consumer, and their success inspired a wave of electronics companies to start-up in Santa Clara County, California. Everyone wanted to hang out in HP’s neck of the woods.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis replaced a similar HP printer that lasted for 12 years.
The quality of the print is excellent and the ability to print from the iPhone is exemplary.
We store it away inside a sideboard so that it remains out of sight until needed. Its minimal size makes it ideal for this type of inconspicuous storage.
The print speed and lifespan of the toner is excellent
The only downside is the HP printing software which is cumbersome and has the sole aim of trying to sell you more toner. If you have a Windows machine, then once it’s set up on the network, you can use the Windows printer app to add the printer without all the paraphernalia of HP hard sell.

Could be easier to set up and needs to be nearer router than my last printer. But printing is good quality and quite quick and printing on both sides of paper is very good.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIf you discount the time it takes to enroll in the HP ink service the printer is straightforward and quick to setup.

We are light users so no more than 10 pages printed at a time. Quick to start up and prints clearly with no streaks, smudges or light areas but we do only print invoices and spreadsheets.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGood upgrade to an earlier Samsung, that lasted about ten years! This one adds scanning and copying without taking up any more space. It comes with a promised regular supply of toner, for a ‘small’ fee of course based on your usage, which is monitored by HP. So far so good.

Overall very pleased ! BUT it was very complicated to set up , tried for well over an hour with my ipad not knowing its not possible to do without a computer, even the help section leads you astray with information thats no good , eventually borrowed a laptop and managed it ! The printer itself is great , its very fast , good quality and very quiet. I would of given it 5 stars if it could of been set up using a phone or ipad .

I needed a cost-effective small laser printer for home office applications. This is perfect for that purpose.
It arrived on time. Took 9 minutes from opening box to printing first documents. Easy to set up, encountered no problems. I have been printing documents daily without problems.
Printer setup is by wifi only. USB connection can be done after setup if required. I don’t need that, as wifi is more than adequate. The HP Instant ink offer is very generous and takes care of replacement toner cartridges. Very happy with this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIt prints OK — and have duplex! , the footprint is surprizingle small, the plastic quality is superb. Works via WiFi, as advertized.

The scanner is unbelievably awful lo-res, and the software for it is awfully dumb. Worst scanner in my life, I have found better one near the trashcan in Russia in winter few years ago — no kidding.

And the “Big Brother complex” is annoying: you cannot run Hp setup and scan utility w/o Internet connection and being logged in your account! Which is ridiculos level of intrusion in my life IMO.

If you change Wifi, you must look on the Internet how to reset the printer to make it find the new WiFi. The instruction which you find is unnecessary comple — press this, poke here, wait for that, expect the purple blinking (purple blinking! this thing blinks a rainbow all the time!), etc.

    Other than that — good.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI got this printer from Amazon for 169. There was also a cashback promotion for 70 which I have submitted the form for. We’ll have to see if I receive it. UPDATE: one month later I’ve now received the 70 cashback no issues.

It’s a good printer overall BUT there is one very key piece of information omitted from the advertising which is that the lowest option of instant ink that you can select is the 7.99 option. Presumably it’s the same for all of the pro models but this was never made clear anywhere that I could find.

Also you can get additional free extra months ink with code: mh3mz2

The trial gives you up to 3000 pages per month for free.

One thing that I did get confused about was how to set up the printer. I was using the wrong app. Don’t use “HP Smart”. Use “HP easy start pro.”

I hope you found my review helpful.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersIt’s a great product, good value with high quality printing and scanning. I read a lot of reviews saying that it doesn’t work, and yes it happens, I think it’s because hp doesn’t take user friendliness very seriously, so software wise, things are not tested enough, and as an end user, you need to be patient to retry, or be patient to wait for a whole minute after turning it on, so that it’s in a “truly ready” state, then you can start the hp smart app on desktop. As long as you are patient enough, everything is working fine (as far as I can see) with this compact little laser printer that can also scan docs up to 600 dpi.

Generally easy to install but be careful when renaming the wifi name

I used to hv hp pro m28w, and installed all by myself. and this one is smaller. I do need to get my hardcopies more efficient, (instead of taking 40min at least back & forth from school library, or staying days in there) this is how I did: just get a printer (if it’s within your budget.. don’t forget to purchase a toner as a backup one.)

Prints very clearly and very fast compared to my former Ink jet. Hope it lasts.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is the first time I have used a Laser printer and I am surprised with the quality and speed of printing that this printer produces compared to my old ink jet printer.
