Damage-free application

Work on finished or very sensitive surfaces (e.g. fittings in the bathroom) can be carried out damage-free.

Ratchet principle

The special stroke of the gripping jaws enables time-saving screwing according to the ratchet principle.

Fast push-button adjustment

Replaces a complete set of wrenches: It can be adjusted directly on the workpiece (up to 40 mm / 1 1/2 inch) using a push button.

Laser-cut size scale

The redesigned KNIPEX pliers wrench features two laser-cut scales: metric on the front, imperial on the back. This means that you can set the gripping capacity in advance for workpieces that are more difficult to reach (similar to illustration).

Great set of grips, a little over priced but they are knipex, I don’t mind paying for quality that’s going to last.

Replaces small to medium wrenches and also small (but not needle nose) pliers. My first, but certainly not my last Knipex!

Got the double bundle and they fit brilliantly in the toolbox. Very handy to tighten and undo all the central heating fittings on radiators when draining down et .

Small enough to carry around in your pocket but enough leverage to do most household jobs.

Only comment would be go for the 180 version as some sizes of fastener you need to open your hand quite wide, otherwise perfect.

I like these pliers as they clamp tight, are slim enough to fit in places the average combination wrench won’t and won’t slip.

    Dead handy!

What I like about this tool, is that when you put it on whatever settings you need it doesn’t move from it and that’s what you need when your doing work

These are the perfect little tool. They are a good replacent for an adjustable. The mechanism allows you to get a tight grip even with the smooth jaws. I now own several of these. The only issue I’ve have is selecting the correct position can take some getting use too, but some of the newer Knipex Plier Wrenchs now have size marking to help.

Product as described, arrived on time, 180 best size for SWA glands up to 25mm, I already have 250 but some times become too big for certain jobs in tight spaces, knipex never disappoint. great quality

An investment for the future, I expect this tool from Knippex to last and be used to within an inch of its life! Expensive but you get what you pay for.

These are amazing…for the size you get an amazing amount of grip and pressure…now they’re a go to tool when needed and seem to have replaced half a dozen adjustable spanners…and the quality is top notch…

Well made smooth jaw grips that wont bind up like cheap ones. my only gripe is the price, although i only paid 35 for this set so that’s a moot point.

They seem a little fiddly to use at first, but when you use them for tightening up plastic glands, bending little bits of metal to shape, holding things steady… that are just great. Firm even pressure across the length of the jaw.

This size is great for 20-25mm Stuffing Glands.
I may well get a couple sizes larger as well!

The only “adjustable” tool worth owning. Smooth jaws don’t bite into your workpiece, while staying parallel in a way no adjustable wrench can hope to. This small tool proved useful on things like pipe nuts and alloy fittings, even displacing much larger tools. Expensive it may be – but best quality always is.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCompleted my line up, 125mm, 180mm and 300mm. I use them on just about every callout I go to. They grip soft metals which an adjustable spanner tend to round off if it’s tight. Yes their expensive but worth every pound, you won’t be disappointed. Tools are a long term investment, some worth it, some not, these fall into the latter category.

    Quality isn’t cheap.

Once you have the right size for these they are a god send. But getting them to the right size can be hell. If you can go for a larger pair I would but I had limited space. But I do recommend these

I use this in an aerospace manufacturing enviroment and the convenient size allows me to carry it in my pockets. The adjustability saves me carrying a number of spanners . The smooth jaws also prevent marking of delicate items. While the price may seem expensive ,it ‘s quality and versatility make me feel confident it will last a lifetime.

I got these on Amazon for a great price. If you shop around there are bargains to be had, as Knipex is expensive but Quality Kit. In most cases these are so much easier to use than a spanner, and they have more applications than a spanner.

Don’t think, put them in your wish list, just buy them! Best thing since the adjustable spanner was created but a whole lot better and useable.

    Why didn’ti buy them sooner.

Knipex’s pliers wrenches aren’t cheap, but then again again they’re also so useful for so many things that it’s possible they could be the cheapest good quality tools you can buy. They work as a ratchet-camming spanner, adjustable spanner (crescent wrench), flat jawed parallel pliers, miniature vice, hand-held clamp… the list goes on. These quickly replace most standard spanners, and three sizes cover pretty much everything I encounter as a mobile bicycle mechanic, and the same for general use at home when working on cars or other machinery. If you’ve never used them then try the 175mm version, and don’t bother with the moulded grip version as they’re actually not as comfortable to use (and take up more space in your toolbox).

his is the big size for outsize fittings. The jaws are smooth and dont mar the surfaces i use them on. Everything from oldskool bike headsets to chrome taps so far.
Im doing a house refurb at the moment and they’ve come in useful more than i thought. they’ve also done a sound job straigtening aluminium frames since the jaws move in parallel.

I have had the task of changing the flush mechanism in a few toilet cisterns recently but only had an old fashioned wrench big enough to undo the nut between cistern and bowl. The old wrench with saerated jaws tended to damage plastic nut so went for this based on flat jaws.
Within an hour of receipt It was in use and performed perfectly. Tackled the large nut with no damage, reduced in size quickly to help free stopcock.Adjusted quickly and accurately again to work on taps and shower. Saves carrying multiple sizes of wrench/ spanne

Knipex quality as usual, the only very small moan is about the adjustment button, mine seems to wobble slightly and I feel like it should have a tighter fit like the smaller variant of these pliers has.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSuperbly engineered item too big for my needs. Looks like the mutts nuts for pump unions or the like but too big a tool to find a place in my daily toolbox or even on the van.
Still, I got it when it was on offer a discounted price and I may find a use for it one day…..women buy shoes, I buy tools.

Got these when they were being sold for 44 quid, which is an absolute bargain compared to the usual price of them (80ish)

Not a tool I’ve have to use frequently, in fact only a few times so far on stubborn pumps but that’s what it was bought for.

The wrench pliers by knipex are to use of stubborn nuts and bolts and this one is no different, it’s just the big gun of them when you need the leverage when something won’t budge

I will say though it’s heavy

Great tools, especially if you get them in a deal

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersDon’t normally do reviews , but felt the need after using these.
Working in the commercial plumbing and heating trade I’ve always struggled to find the right tool to tighten brass compression joints (mainly 54mm lever valves). I’ve used various spanners even stillstons and never really found the right tool until now.
The Knipex wrench is great and makes for easy work on all compression joints.
Must mention how great Amazon have been, first parcel turned up empty(nothing inside the box and no signs of tampering). After contacting them they re-sent and I received a new parcel (with wrench inside!).

These pliers are amazing to use! The mechanism of the jaws works beautifully!!! I would highly recommend for any trades professionals. They are quite pricey so probably not for anyone who is a DIY’er or if it is at the top of your budget you can probably make do with a cheaper pliers until you can afford them. I was apprehensive about buying them because of the price, but now I own a pair I feel they are worth the cost.

They turned up with a slight chip , which was very minor however becuase I payed a lot of money for them I wanted a new pair. The company immediately sent out a new pair the day after I complained. This is an excellent spanner. Much better then the usual spanner , as these don’t slip off the nut.

Golden Review Award: 17 From Our UsersI bought 2 of these for work, for 63mm SWA glands and… they made that gland their bitch. Worth every penny, if a little expensive for some. So easy to use. I was worried they wouldn’t quite stretch to 63mm, I actually set them just below the maximum setting and they were golden. So, 240mm armoured is your limit.

Because of the straight jaw they don’t mark the gland at all, which is important for some firms when they snag your finished works. They also grip cleanly and firmly, and I only have small to medium sized hands.

They’re one of those tools you don’t take with you on your first day, but bring in from home when shit gets real.

They’re a timeless investment that you will have for years, until some yahoo nicks them out of your tool bag. I had electricians gawking over them like a page 3 pin-up.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI was a bit dissapointed when I received this plier wrench because it’s the new lightweight version as opposed to the over engineered sturdy one shown on amazon! I’m verging on returning them because they’re not what I was led to believe I would receive ! It opens slightly wider than the old version but as the handles are at an unsuitable acute angle I would discard this fact as not being a positive! It’s a good bit lighter but I would say strength has been sacrificed for this fact here and there ! The handles construction are thinner as are the comfort handles ( more like a thicker version of the dipped type). I don’t like them compared to the older sturdier versions and if it wasn’t the fact they have a limited lifetime warranty they would be on their way back already. The newer (un-chromed) versions are available elsewhere for 37.50 as opposed to the 50.99 which I paid. If I’d knew I was going to receive the new version I would have taken a chance on the 13.49 saving and bought elsewhere. I suppose I’m not devastated by this but neither am I ecstatic as I would have been if I had received what I ordered. “Ya pay ya money ya take ya chance” is the moral of this story! If I’d been able to choose between the two in a local tool store I would have went with the older ones because mainly I feel knipex , like everyone else these days, are giving me less and charging me more! Change the picture Amazon, your losing the objective of saving us money !

    Not the same item!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe first unit of this has jaws that don’t close flat, which makes them unable to hold onto thin material. I will need to return and swap it.

It is an awesome tool though. I have a smaller 125mm one that I love. (see photo for size difference)
The 300mm size is great, but I think I’d probably go with 250 plus the 125 if you want to carry one on your belt, which I do. 300mm is absolutely huge, which is obviously good for some tasks.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love this tool, but this unit had a problem

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese Plier Wrenches are a novel idea, interesting design and do have some unique features. Smooth jaws mean they will not mark fasteners etc. and can be used almost with a ratcheting design where you simply release your grip slightly to move the pliers back round and turn again.

They can be used to hold things, turn fasteners, straighten sheet metal etc. In some scenarios they work well and are a vast improvement on the typical adjustable spanner design.

There are some downsides however. When adjusted, you have to apply the gripping force yourself which can be tiring if used for longer periods. If access if awkward it can be hard to fit the handles into tight spaces and get your hand onto both handles to grip etc. They are also expensive to buy.

A handy tool to have however. Typical Knipex quality and build, made in Germany.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese are really good, comfortable grips, it grips the flats well, very useful and made a few colleagues envious.

The position lock is really positive and locks in place well.

These are also really good for bending metal into shape as when you grip metal with it and bend them it doesn’t leave teeth makes and you get a straight edge.

I like these so much I want a second pair but I haven’t yet had a job where I have needed 2 pairs but I’m sure I’ll kick myself the day I do need a second pair.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOccasionally you come across a product, that is just right, and a joy to use, and these pliers/wrench are prime example.

Smooth and easy to operate, with that “you get what you pay for”, engineering quality. The non-marking jaws, give a firm grip, but without the destructive surface marking that standard adjustable wrenches have. The jaws are also much more stable and precise than other smooth jawed adjustable spanners.

One slight warning, the pliers are supplied (correctly) with a protective light oil/grease that needs to be wiped off, before it gets everywhere.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter years of buying stuff on Amazon, this is the first product that I have been impressed enough with to leave feedback on. I needed something to remove a seized nut on my Ducati. It was in an awkward place which meant I couldn’t get a socket on and a normal spanner wouldn’t fit due to the last owner rounding it off so I used the heat and wax method . Pliers and an adjustable wouldn’t work so it was a case of try and cut it and risk damaging the exhaust or bolt or buy these that I’d heard so much about. It’s amazing, easy to use and after a few minutes of getting the nut all the way along the thread, there isn’t a mark on it ! I meant to buy the 250mm but got these instead, luckily. I’ll definitely buy the bigger ones at sometime in the future though.

As soon as I became aware of the very existence of the Knipex Pliers Wrench I just knew ‘I NEED TO HAVE THIS’… whether or not it was something that I would use was irrelevant. But I waited and shopped around and ended up buying from Germany through Amazon, treating myself to the even more NEED TO HAVE THIS version with the more ergonomic grips. Knipex, on a serious note, do make the best pliers and side cutter in my opinion and this tool adds to the regard in which I hold them; the way the mechanism works is slick and superb.

Go on – buy one. You know you deserve to have one in your life.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThese are far better than I thought they would be. They are easily adjusted – simply press and hold the button and slide to the required jaw width, then release the button to lock in place. The mechanism has a quality and positive feel. Squeezing the handles gives an amazing amount of pressure and will hold a nut very securely. I thought that they might “slip” on a nut and round off the corners but in fact they hold very tight and flat on the faces of the nut and do less damage than an ordinary adjustable spanner. They have an impressive adjustment range – from 0 to 36mm. These pliers are so quick, easy to use, and versatile that they have almost completely replaced all my combination and adjustable spanners!
