This is a great little vacuum for cleaning out the wood burner. No more ash all over the floor. Not had to use the filter cleaning function as yet.
Great hoover for the log burner and doesn’t block or need emptying every use would definitely recommend
his vacuum cleaner has very good suction so it is also good to use around the house as well as being a great ash cleaner, also easy to empty. the wheels on it makes it very easy to move about.
Last year bought a cheap ash vacuum which was fine initially but after a while clogged easily and the sound was so loud I had to use ear defenders to use it. Had to clean filter every time I used it which was unacceptable, Decided to buy Karcher – much more expensive but what a difference. Really great suction, noise level low and even has self cleaning system. Really pleased with proper german engineering.

This vacuum is exactly what you’d expect from Karcher Yes it might be a little more expensive but buy cheap but twice

It would have been better if it came with an narrow nozzle, but lucky I have one from a workshop vacuum that I can use to get in the smaller cracks.
Borrowed this from friend to test before ordering from Amazon uk, as my ash vac gave up the ghost.
It is Very good, good suction, very easy to clean filter, but buy a spare filter while other filter dry’s out after cleaning. Filter can go without water washing for ages, just take it out and shake ect., really impressed by the ease of cleaning, and so easy to get spares from Amazon uk.
Order the long crevice tool if you have wood burner.
It is a must buy for a wood burner, and really good for all household use, car, garage ect.
Spare Original filters cost a bit more, but are more than worth it according to my friend, last for a year
or more with easy cleaning.
Purchasing from Amazon uk with their delivery drivers only, always deliver on time, royal mail total let down.

Almost immediately there was a blockage in the hose, but it was easy to sort out by following the unblocking instructions. It has been working well since.
Karcher always seem to get it right, keep waiting for a sub par product but it just doesn’t happen, quality and well thought out…we have wet dry Vac, pressure washer and this Ash vacuum, we had a couple of others prior that sort of worked but not well thought out and died before long, the Karcher is really well thought out for fireplaces but as we keep it inside we often use it for other things, just as good (if not better) than a regular household cylinder vac, and quiet with is often down to the quality of the motor.
so much better than the alternatives, holds a nice bit too. use it daily on our open fire
I’ve had a few over the years as they keep breaking (cheapo ones) that spray dust into the atmosphere every time you turn it on yes that’s kind so kinda defeated the object.
So I invested Invested in this great bit of kit it’s durable well made ,great filtration system that is separate from the main ash chamber unlike a lot of others. suction is awesome it cleans our stove out within minutes.. (with no hassle)
overall would highly recommend just spending a little more for something that’s going to last and not be falling to pieces after the first season of stove maintenance.

As always with Karcher I am really impressed by the build quality of this ash hoover. You can’t go wrong with Karcher. You can see there was proper thought put in the design process. I am a bit of a hoover maniac and I owned a few hoovers over the years. This is not a Made in China hoover like many others.
Now, regarding the low suction power, this is normal when hoovering woodburner ash as it is really fine and in the whirlwind created inside the canister the dust particles will clogg the filter slightly. But if you follow exactly and I mean EXACTLY the filter de-clogging process, it will clear your filter and the suction will go back to normal.
It is a pleasure to use this vacuum and it can clean my woodburning stove in a matter of seconds.
It comes with 2 extension tubes and a hard floor accessory. The flexi tube has a metal liner massively improving on safety. Even if you hover hot ash by mistake your hoover won’t catch fire as everything that comes into contact with the hot ash is made of steel. The instructions say that you shouldn’t hoover hot ash and you should let the stove cool down before hoovering.
It has a really large metal container that is actually the body of the vacuum and you can hoover plenty of ash before emptying it.
The AD 4 premium has a set of 4 wheels and it is easy to move around. On the weight side it is not too heavy.
It is rather large compared to other hoovers and I nicknamed mine R2D2 because of the resemblence to the movie character 😉
Storage might be a problem.
After registering the product on the Karcher website you get 24 months of warranty. You can get an extra 12 months if you buy it straight from the Karcher website. This was valid when I registered my product on the website.
Worth mentioning is that this is a bagless canister dry hoover. It is not designed to hoover liquids.
The only question I still have unanswered is how many hoovering cycles does it need until the filter needs replacing.
As soon as I find out I will let you know.
BTW this is not a sponsored review, I bought the hoover with my own money and this is my personal opinion regarding this product.
Regarding the price, it is a bit more than other ash hoovers but you get a German quality hoover not a made in China one. Also you can use it as normal dry hoover in your house, garage, shed, etc.
Later edit: it is now 18th of January 2021 and I had this vacuum for nearly 3 months. Suction is still great, I had to clean the filter 3 times as I had the vacuum full of ash 3 times already. It is helpful to have a clean paint brush to clean the ash from the filter. I use the de clogging button regularly and it does it job as intended.
I really like this vacuum.

Very happy with this purchase and it wllorks well, only thing I wasn’t happy with was the amount of dents in the metal caseing, didn’t affect the performance, and its out of site most of the time in the cupboard, but does the job well
