I had an earlier model of Morphy Richards bin, with sensor, I had it for years, until I accidently banged the top with something. So had to get another one. The new one is nowhere as good as my last one. They have gone backwards in it’s design, this one you cannot see the lights on the front because they are not on the top, unless your’e 3 foot tall. It doesn’t always open when you want it to. there’s no switch to press to keep the lid open for longer, when you have more stuff to put in it, like my older version. It is definately not worth the money. I can imagine tempers flaring in a busy kitchen, when trying to use it! It was actually slightly mishaped when I took it out of its box, the seam at the back wasn’t flat! There is nothing good I can say about it, except to( Morphy Richards What the heck have you done with the previous design?!) I will be looking for another better modal, a different brand, that’s for sure!

When removing the bin liner the liner tends to tear when it get caught on the bin joint.

With sense, easy to use, but in the bottom got hole, so need to be very careful water leaking out.

Small bin with a useful sensor. Allows contactless entry when hands are dirty, so great in the kitchen.
Lid only stays open for a few seconds, which can be annoying when scraping off food from plates.
Opening mechanism is protected from food debris.

Im really happy with this. Stylish, easy to clean and motion sensor is positioned at the front, rather than the top of the bin, which means bin lid does not get so dirty.

Had this bin for almost 2 years now and never had a problem with it, i’ve only had to replace the batteries in the motion sensor twice. Super convenient when you have hands full, you can literally just stand right in front of it and it opens. 10/10 recommended

I really like this bin but unfourtunately the lid sensor has broken despite changing batteries etc it does not open. I would try get in touch im regard to a replacement but amazon makes it very difficult to contact them.

This is the second bin I have had in this range. This version has been slightly updated from my last model which I had for several years. The motion sensor works well once you get used to where it is and it is much quieter when opening than the previous bin. They are sturdy, well constructed bins that take up minimal space for a large capacity bin.

Bought this auto bin to replace an earlier model made by Morphy Richard’s we bought in a discount store a few years ago. After faithful service electrics got frazzled after the kid was dropped in a sink full of water whilst cleaning. The new model we have had for about 8 weeks now and it is performing well. Move your hand across the sensor up pops the lid, drop the rubbish in and off you pop. Not faffing about with pedals or putting you grubby hands on a grubby lid. Nice clean and easy to use. Be careful not to throw away the bag spacer when taking the bag out. We’ve not had this trouble, but then we are quite fastidious. Disinfected wipe keeps it clean and looking clean and fresh. All in all a nice addition to the kitchen. Not regretted this purchase.

    Tidy kitchen bi

The bin is lovely! The batteries last for a while and although the door doesn’t stay open for long (no way to change the timer) its a great addition to our kitchen! However after 6 months the bin stopped working but we received a replacement from Amazon with no problem or questions asked. Altogether lovely bin, a bit hard to clean around the lid area but good!

It’s a good bin, the issue I’ve had is that 50l bags are to big and smaller bags are bit to small. The automatic bin lid is good to start with but sometimes it shuts to quickly if your scraping plates etc. Also the lid activates if you walk past it etc.

This missus chose this bin as she wanted one that the kids didn’t need to touch to open, which is great and this bin ticks all those boxes. My only issue is that the lid doesn’t stay open long enough and closes on whatever your scrapping food off of. Apart from this it’s a very good bin.

I like the design, but the sensor is very low for anyone tall to use this bin. Also, we have had to replace batteries twice already, so will be fairly expensive to use long term.

Good size bin for a small kitchen. However even when stood in front of the bin the bin lid can close (for example when scraping a plate of food) which can be quite frustrating. But holds in smells and looks nice.

Don’t know what”sheerness” is. 4 for sturdiness, as the metal is very thin and the bin bulges slightly out of shape at the seam. The bags are too small and have to be severely stretched to fit. The reason becomes clear when you see that the stretch-to-fit action pulls in the fragile seam bulge.

I have given this bin 4/5 instead of 5 only because the complimentary bin liners that come with it do not fit the bin. Otherwise the bin seems to be ideal if just using plain black bags. Not sure why you would provide bin liners that dont fit though.

Excellent especially when cleaning plates or preparing food. Scraps can be put in bin without touching the lid or bin. looks really smart. Sometimes opens when passing unexpectedly. Provided bin liners did not fit – too tight.

i previously had a taller bin which was similar in litre size so surprised this one was smaller in height. however it looks great. odd thing the bin came with 3 bin liners, but they to where to small to fit the bin. otherwise it does the job

Bought to replace a 8 year old bin. Nice size, looks sleek. However the sensor is very slow to sense you, and the lid opening speed is even slower. The old bin was quicker and more responsive.

I looked at loads of fairly compact bins for my small kitchen. This one is a great size and holds a lot of rubbish. It is good quality for the price. The automatic lid has been faultless. Would recommend.

Good design, automatic open and close feature works well. It was nice to have the free sample of corresponding bin liners but these are no longer available to buy through the manufacturer, supermarket liners work fine. My only criticism would be it isn’t very tall, my fault perhaps for not measuring but could do with it being 5-10cm higher.

We were not looking for a sensor bin, but this happened to be the only bin that would fit in our small kitchen reasonably well. However, now that we have one, I am pretty darn pleased with it! It’s actually very nice to have hands-free disposal. We’ve also had a lot of fun naming the bin and ascribing it a personality ;). It took a little while to get our cat to no longer be scared every time the bin opened and closed, but eventually it became associated with treats and mealtimes, and they are now the best of friends. It’s very easy to change out the bags, and they keep seated very well in the lid. Welcome to the family, binsley ;)!

I like this bin as you don’t have to touch for the lid to open. It could be taller though as you need to bend down to move your hand across the sensor. The batteries are still going. It is good that you don’t have to change the battery too often. This bin is a decent size.

Good bin for the price. There is more plastic used on the bin opening mechanism than I expected and the mechanism does not sound smooth. The 3 free bin liners that ckme with product don’t fot well -tight. Having said that it is a good value bin and works well in a small kitchen.

Love this! Really good to be able to throw things in the bin without having to touch it. The base is sturdy. The lid is probably the weakest part, could easily be broken as the hinges are a bit flimsy. It’s easy to empty. The batteries last a long time. It’s not so easy to keep the rim clean but the base wipes down well. It’s very sensitive and opens if you just walk past so best stored somewhere out of the way! Wouldn’t want to go back to a manual bin now. Definitely recommend this product.

Great bin. A tad small. Doesn’t even come up to my waist. When the bin bag is taken out of the bin there is still plenty of space in the bin bag for rubbish. Perhaps if you want a bin that holds a far bit don’t get this one. However if you just need any bin to do the job then this will work.

A good capacity kitchen bin with bonuses…..
No need to touch the bin when cooking, hygienically smart
Takes a standard bin liner with or without tie strings
The lid opens when you approach the bin. This can be a bit annoying at first, however it frightened the life out of my daughter’s poodle which now refuses to come into the kitchen, great fun and a real bonus!

The quality of bin is good and hands free operation works effortlessly. I only think that it has a design flaw that sensor is on the side as oppose on the top. This means that when you want bin to open for few seconds like you are scraping a plate or throwing few items, the bin keeps closing. Hence, I have not given 5* rating.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWas unsure whether to buy this due to the mixed reviews but I went ahead. The bins been pretty great. Some people have mentioned that the bin is overly sensitive and it’s always opening. I have not had this issue. I think if you have a very busy home and you put it right where people frequently walk right past it, like within 20cm then it’s going to open a lot. Also it did have an issue at first of not closing all the way and leaving a little gap but this problem has now just gone away on it’s own.

    Decent bi

I actually received a slightly different model than the one advertised – mine didn’t have ANY buttons (Other than an ‘on/off’ toggle on the inside of the lid), so if it breaks down, you’re down to manually opening it, for which there are no sanitary means – you have to hook your fingers underneath the thin plastic lid to do so. Also, it’s not made too clear that the IR sensor is actually facing forwards, NOT vertically up, meaning you have to wave your hand in front of it, instead of over it – a slightly less convenient option if you go for the 42-litre model as it’s rather short. Finally, when it’s open, it only stays open for a short period of time, meaning if you need to scrape a plate into it, you need to stop the lid from going down manually – could do with an override, like having it not close if you’re still in front of it. On the good side, it looks very attractive, the sensor is (Almost always) very responsive, nice little show off gadget and my 6 year old loves it!

ALSO: It doesn’t come with batteries, and for some bizare reason it’s using AA, not AAA, so have a pack ready!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersTL:DR – Giggle giggle tee hee! these are great fun and amusing when friends come round.

I bought this, probably for the same reason as 95% of the people who’re currently staring at it thinking “that looks cool!” I tried to justify it to myself as being hygienic (no need to touch the lid, or to leave grease all over it like one of those perishingly old-fashioned manual opening bins) and it does do that – The lid of the bin is still stubbornly shiny, without the usual speckles of food and such which seem magnetically attracted to the lid of your bin.

That having been said, however, that is really just a way of justifying it to sensible people… For the idiots among us, this bin is worth every penny of the price just as an activity for your easily amused friends! I’ve spent hours experimenting with what does and doesn’t trigger the bin (turns out that a 30cm serial killer knife does… As does a Stihl MS 181c chainsaw running at full revs!) and filming my exploits for social media… It’s great fun, and when friends come round it’s become a bit of a celebrity!

Well worth it! It only lost a star because if you’re not a childish crazy-person who just wants a flashy toy then you’re probably going to be less thrilled with it than I am…

Great product. Seemed a bit gimmicky so I was hesitant at first but I am glad I took the leap.

The bin is so convenient and hygienic. It used to be a pain having to lift the bin lid whilst cooking and washing my hands all the time, now I can just throw throw the rubbish away without touching dirty objects.

The sensitivity of the sensors is spot on. It always opens on cue but doesn’t open when you walk past it. It seems to detect objects from about 20cm away. If you were putting the bin in a tight space and were walking very close to the bin then there is a chance it will open when you don’t want it to. With its looks you won’t feel the need to tuck it away in a tight corner anyway.

The only thing which could be improved is the plastic ring which holds the bin bag in. I’m sure there’s probably a knack to it….I just haven’t found it yet.

I would definitely recommend getting one of these.
P.s – if you have cats and they like sleeping on high objects, they may get a surprise when they try to sleep on this bin!

Golden Review Award: 53 From Our UsersThis is my second Morphy Richards sensor bin as I accidentally killed the last one by careless cleaning (some cleaning spray got in the gubbins) so note…spray the cleaning spray onto a cloth then wipe .. don’t spray onto the lid first in case it goes in the holes. My last bin was still going strong after 10 months though before I damaged it and I didn’t hesitate to replace it with the same model .

I got this bin initially as it fits perfectly into the gap under my work surface and was cheap for a relatively classy looking bin . The automatic opening also proves to be very useful when scraping plates etc .. but does take a bit of getting used to and you also have to find the right position so it doesn’t open all the time and annoy you .
The batteries last a surprisingly long time (several months!) . It takes 4 AA batteries .

The bottom part is just a stainless steel bin .. all the motor etc is in the lid which is a chrome effect plastic .. you can buy replacement lids if they do break which currently works out at about half the price of the bin so not bad.

This new one did seem to be much more sensitive than the last and was driving me up the wall with opening all the time . it was even opening by itself , which made us laugh and wonder if we had a ghost , but it has settled down now and is behaving itself . I suppose this is why I knocked a star off .. They are great little bins (the 42litre is quite petit) but they can be a little bit temperamental and clearly can vary a little bit based on my experience. I’ll take a photo to show why I have stuck with this bin because it fits so nicely in my cavity. thank you .oh and by the way as you can see i’ve had to choose the smaller bin (it comes in a taller 50 litre version as well) so there is enough room for the lid to open without bashing the worktop.

    great little bin with characte
