In my experience boots whether cheap or pricey don’t last longer than a year before splitting. These look well made and the souls look sturdy but the real test is longevity and you don’t know that I the first few months. For now though, I’m happy.
What a wonderful pair of wellies ,soooooo comfortable to walk long distances and very warm .
Love these. So comfy. Worn first time in -2C and feet still really warm.
I bought these boots to keep my feet warm and dry as I suffer from Renauds..
They are indeed warm, but I haven’t tried them in the cold weather yet
Not a boot I would wear to go on a walk over hill and dale, as they are heavy, and don’t give enough flexibility as I found to my cost..
For walking the dog on even terrain or slight hills it would be ok..
They seem to cope with very muddy and slippery conditions, but in a walk through a national trust wood etc, I found it made me work twice as hard, this might not be the case for others .. Otherwise recommend
It seems mad to be raving about a pair of wellies but these have transformed gardening and the allotment. Easy on and off, a perfect fit, waterproof(obviously!), and warm. Not cheap but so worth it.
Can face all wet weather and muddy dogs no problem
I have my wellies for about 9 months after the first six months they started letting in water. At first I thought it was sweat but over the last couple of weeks it has become increasingly more obvious that I have a leak. Disappointing considering the price. Simon Robinson.
Purchased for walking the dog. They are comfortable to wear and keep my feet warm on frosty mornings.
These were a comfortable fit right out of the box with everyday socks. I take UK shoe size 10, and bought these in UK size 9, knowing that boot manufacturers assume I’ll be wearing one or two pairs of thick socks. They’ve proven to be pretty warm too, especially for the summer.
My only minor niggle is that the grip isn’t that good on smooth wet concrete.
These are the best wellingtons I have ever bought. I walk the dogs in muddy fields and woods and these boots really grip the mud. Very comfortable even on first wear. You will need extra socks in cold weather. The sole makes them easy to clean. Would highly recommend.
Xmas gift for my husband, he really loves them and finds them very comfortable. we are not hardcore welly wearers so I expect these to last. I did read a lot of reviews of relatively fancy boots and these seemed the best all around and did not disappoint. Colour and style are great and they fit as expected.
I’ve never liked wellington’s, but needed a pair for walking the dog in soggy conditions. After much deliberation & research I bought my Muck Boots – These are beautifully comfortable & I love them!
I bought my usual size 9 which suit me perfectly as I don’t like thick socks. (I’ve tried thick socks & they do feel a little tight.)
Present for hubby he’s over the moon, they were recommended, and we will definitely pass o
I bought the boots for my husband’s birthday. Read the reviews and I new they were a good make.
He was thrilled to bits with them . Excellent quality and quick delivery.
These are light and comfy wellies; very warm and a good grip. Sizing is very accurate so do there is NO need to upsize in order to account for thicker socks. I use mine for dog walking (ie for my feet, not the dog’s) in woodland, through bogs and over fields. So far they are well up to the job.
he wellies were for my partner.he just hope they are fully water proof but as of now they have not had to stand up to the tes
These boots are so lightweight, comfortable and waterproof. They’re perfect for my partner as he has to use crutches to walk and they add no extra weight, they weigh just a little more than his regular trainers.
We walk the dogs every day and use these most of the year, so the get hard use.
They last maybe 3 years until some seal cracks or splits, but in my opinion they are still worth it as there is nothing better to walk in all weathers (though I wouldn’t wear them when it’s hot).
My husband’s been wearing these for a couple of weeks and is very pleased. He has wide feet and these fit well especially around the ankle. The neoprene leg part rolls down making it easy to get off. They are warm so you don’t need welly socks, and comfortable. He walks about 2 hrs a day across muddy fields with our dog every day so have been great in this weather.
Ive only been out for a couple of muddy walks in these boots so far and i can say they are super comfy and warm. These boots are going to be great for when i finally get back out metal detecting.
Replacing an identical pair I bought five years ago. After frequently walking many miles in them, one of the old boots now has a small hole, but they’re still wearable for general use and muddy conditions, provided not too wet. Very satisfied. Boots are warm and comfortable.
Love them, comfy and warm. BUT, After 2 months I noticed the left boot starting to un bnd from the upper part. Contacted Amazon who have replaced them no problem. But I think it was a 1 off, hopefully
Got these for hubbies Xmas pressie and he wore them a whole day while working in the garden/on his bike and loves them! So comfy with the neoprene but good ankle support for long walks too. Really pleased as he’s got wide feet and these are perfec
This is my second pair of Muck Boots, put about 5 or 6 thousand miles on the first pair. I walk the dog for an hour & a half every day of the year, when it’s wet & cold these are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever walked in. Highly Recommended.
I use these very frequently when it’s wet for long distance muddy off-road dog walking. They are comfortable and warm just like other Muck Boots that I have owned. Thoroughly recommended except that I just noticed, after a year, a split in the rubber shell at the side of each toe. There seems to be no water ingress past the neoprene layer so far but this cost a star.
My previous pair of “Tweed” Muck Boots were used for dog walking. The sole grips had started to wear smooth after several years of daily use during the winter. They were ideal, but they no longer make that type, so I wanted a replacement that was similar in style, which appeared to be “Edgeware II”. The new ones are excellent – comfortable, lightweight, and somehow the fit is even better than my previous pair. Very pleased after several weeks of use.
Got these for my partner for Christmas and he loves them. They are very comfy, don’t pick up too much mud even when walking in very muddy conditions, and provide good grip on pavements (including ice), mud, grass (wet or dry) and at the beach. Our dog grabs my boyfriend’s leg when returning his ball and has made small holes in the neoprene (as you would expect!) but this has not reduced the waterproofing of the boots at all. They also fit snugly around his calf (but also stretch for a bigger calf easily) so rain water doesn’t run inside the boot as it does with some other brands. They are warm enough to wear without thick socks even in freezing conditions but are also not too warm in hotter weather. These have now been used at least once a day for nearly 6 months and other than the damage caused by the dog they still look like new. Would highly recommend.
I don’t often write reviews, but these boots are amazing, I’ve owned different types/ brands of wellingtons in the past but these boot are the best I’ve come across, fit perfectly, extremely comfortable and durable so warm (it is currently -7 with snow on the ground) they don’t get hot and sweaty in the heat either I am yet to find a bad point about these wellingtons, definitely should be you’re next set of wellingtons
I bought these size 13 boots for use on nature reserves and walking in the country. I have had several pairs of walking boots that have become a chore to lace up. I gave these a try. I have worn them four times now in temperatures around 0 – 5C in muddy wet conditions for a couple of hours on each occasion. Together with a thick pair of walking socks they kept my feet warm and dry in the coldest and muddiest conditions. Putting them on and taking them off is a breaze. Rolling the soft neoprene tops down to the ankle means I can slip my feet in, gather my trousers around my ankle and the roll the tops back up. Taking them off is just as easy. Add in that they can be hosed off when I get home makes these a worthwhile purchase.
This is my third pair of Muck Boots. The First pair were the Derwent model and lasted a few years then got a leak through the sole. The second pair was also a Derwent Model and the sole on one of the boots totally came away. I’m a casual user, not a farmer or tradesperson. I don/t wear them every day but I’d say worked them hard 10 days in a month for 6 months of the year working the land and walking the dog. So here’s my review broken down into sections of Comfort, Grip, Warmth, Waterproofing and Longevity
COMFORT
So, I’ve just received this pair of Edgewater II’s. First impressions are very good. The first thing I noticed is that where both of my Derwent boots had a steel reinforced ankle area (or something like steel) which used to hurt until it was worn in (it was too high and rubbed) the material around the heel and Achilles tendon is flexible … time will tell if this is good or bad.
Overall the insole comfort is exceptional, soles are flexible and I wasn’t feeling the prods of rocks or stones through the sole. They are also light, very light in fact, and I felt Iike I could power walk in them. The upper part of the boot is not too loose and not too tight so shouldn’t have any problem getting trousers in there. Size wise they fit better than expected with my previous experience with MBCo
GRIP
I took them for a walk over the following surfaces and found the grip to be:
Wet Cobbles on the flat – quite slippy laterally (side to side)
Wet Cobbles covered in leaves on severe incline and Decline – to be honest they held up ok
Wet tarmac – quite slippy laterally
Wet Moss over Tarmac – OK
Grass – Excellent
Flat Mud – OK
Mud on a severe camber – OK, some slipping laterally but actually better than expected
One thing I have noticed is the grip is ok in the direction of travel but its the side to side grip that feels loose.
Also the sole cleans itself well! really well, got them muddy and a few minutes walking on grass and they were all cleaned up. Mud didnt seem to clog up which is a total bonus!
All that said these are a pair of wellies, not hiking boots or running shoes. You want a sole that performs on the surface it will be used for the purpose most people will need it these will most likely do. These are marketed by MBCo as “Edgewater II are the multi-purpose boots that will look after your feet in the garden, on your muddy dog walk or as you head into town on a rainy day”. I’d say they are better on soft terrain than hard.
WARMTH
Ok, 5mm Neoprene, insulated sole = a warm boot. Exceptional for Use around
I’m going to guess with what these are made of eg rubber and neoprene. These are insulated waterproof boots. Not a pair of crocs. They’re not for a summers day and I don’t care for it when manufacturers use the word breathable on boots, that lets face it, really wont end up being. I’ll be working them hard over the next two late autumn days and I can guarantee I’ll have sweaty feet by the end of it.
But when you need a warm boot to stop freezing toes – these tick the box
WATERPROOFING
Excellent. I jumped in a stream 1″ from the top of the boot with no leakage, right foot only though I wouldnt have been able to get out if I’d stuck the other one in!
LONGEVITY
Well this is the big question isnt it. I’d say I got 2 years each out of my last two pairs. According to my estimate earlier on I used my Derwent boots approx 120 times each. TBH that sounds pretty bad and if I got this out of these 75 boots that would be 62p per wear. Hmmm. So, you pay more for a boot that is comfy and warm and performs well but how long will it last for before something goes wrong. One of the reasons I chose this pair is because the sole design is TOTALLY different to the Derwent boot, I’m hoping that that wrap around lip of the sole clings on tight with lots of walking and work in the garden.
OVERALL
A great boot with thermal retention and waterproofing but sadly that little bit of slip in the grip drops it from 5 stars 4 but then pops it back up to 5 stars because of how well the sole cleaned itself meaning – I love it.
Very happy with purchase. Bought as an alternative to the classic Tack II which is now discontinued. Bought primarily to wear on boats, therefore didn’t want a sole which would gather too much muck and bring on deck. These soles are good, provide better grip to ground than the Tack boots but still don’t hold too much clumpy mud as said. Black is a good colour too.
