Arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) and function generator

All PicoScope 2000 Series oscilloscopes have a built-in function generator and arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) which output signals on a front panel BNC.

The function generator can produce sine, square, triangle and DC level waveforms, and many more besides, while the AWG allows you to import custom waveforms from data files or create and modify them using the built-in graphical AWG editor.

As well as level, offset and frequency controls, advanced options allow you to sweep over a range of frequencies. Combined with the advanced spectrum mode, with options including peak hold, averaging and linear/log axes, this creates a powerful tool for testing amplifier and filter responses.

PicoScope 2000B models have trigger options that allow one or more cycles of a waveform to be output when various conditions are met, such as the scope triggering or a mask limit test failing.

Used many scopes in the automotive field including Autel and Snapon. My current Autel VCI unit has a 4 channel scope and its absolutely terrible. I thought I’d try the pico one as its small and cheap, and wow. I can now tell why they are the best in the business for scopes as this, all be it the lowest tier one they do, is absolutely mega. Very impressed

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal piece of ki

When I ordered, the customer support informed me that I should rather buy the scope without probes to stay under 150, since it was shipped from UK to central Europe. Product and their Software works fine.

Very happy with the purchase of this Picosope. Was not sure how I would get on with it as used to using one at work which is alot more money (an automotive Picosope) than this. However I have been very happy does what I need, have managed to scope CAN and LIN along with Amps. Great purchase and would buy again or save up for a proper Automotive one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs a Microsoft hater the reason for purchasing this cheaper Picoscope unit was to try the Linux software available for it. The unit is fine for elementary wave chasing. The software is useable on my Suse Leap 15.x operating systems and is properly integrated into the software updating system. As the Pico web site says the Linux version misses some features but it is good enough for me.
I am very grateful that Pico writes this software. I may well purchase one of their more advanced units in the future.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI use this for DIY automotive work. It’s not only the scope but using the pico software and some hantek leads, makes a very powerful tool for advanced diagnostics.

If this is your first time using a scope, get attenuators, they’ll save the scope while you’re learning.

There’s also a hack to allow you to use the pico automotive software with this scope, check out YouTube.

Well recommended tool, can’t go wrong buying 1 of these.

    Well worth the money

    Best budget scope

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOk so really for car use it should be the 1K version, but I’m careful and it’s not making me a living so the cheaper version will do for now. Pico have an enormous amount of training and info on their site, the scope is easy to set up and the “zoom” feature just makes it so versatile.
You can’t use it with their automotive s/w but the standard stuff is good enough. You can also save on the standard and open in the automotive s/w .
They are the market leader in this and having first bought the competitor at 50% less I still bought this one.
Waveform pic is diesel fuel rail pressure and an injector pulse.

Best thing for car diag since OBDII

I purchased this scope (sans probes) to use for capturing and analysing audio signals. It’s never going to be put to use above 20 kHz. It suits my intended application very well and offers a lot more features – particularly for frequency analysis and waveform generation – than more expensive budget scopes that take up more physical space. I also bought some RCA female to BNC male adapters from Amazon and I was away! One improvement would be for the hardware to use 12-bit rather than 8-bit A2D converters but I expect this would increase the price point somewhat. For 100 I can’t complain given the features that are available on this British-made product.

The device is for my father so I did not use it, but my father was extremely excited and was jumping up and down 🙂 he needed it for music eauipment measurement and he was very impressed with the quality of the device as well as easy of use software. He’s 81 years of age – he installed it himself although he does not speak english! The orderibg process and shippment was quick, Mike was extremenly helpful when I messed up and ordered a unit without probes.

I give 10 out of 10 for the device and customer service! You guys are great!

Absolutely great scope and software. Used it at work, use it at home. It’s more expensive then Chinese “equivalents”, but absolutely quality product!

This has been a great addition to my home project tool kit.
For once I can see what’s happening rather than trying to guess
Installation was straightforward and operation is very easy

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought this to replace an old Stingray USB scope which I want to install on a new PC recently, but can’t find the drivers anywhere.
This is just about a high-enough spec for what I want, although I could really do with a 4-channel with a slightly higher bandwidth (too expensive to justify purchase).
This is faultless to install, simple to use, sturdy, portable, and well worth the money.
    … and it’s British!!!

Pi che amatoriale. Ottima la memorizzazione delle 32 videate, prima e dopo l’evento di trigger. Buonissimo trigger, finemente regolabile. La scala automatica risolve il problema della vecchia comoda manopola.

For the money, a good piece of equipment. I mainly use it for audio equipment, so I cannot say anything about its HF capability, but for the frequency range I use it at, I can’t fault its performance.
