Having read some of the reviews I went half a size up to UK5.5 (I’m normally US7) and this fits well with thick socks and slight loose with my lighter socks for summer. I like the flexible sole and cushion as I tend to strike with my heels. Tried on dirt path after rain and the waterproof was great so was the grip. The only issue is when I’m in thinner socks the ankle support rubs again my outer ankle joint. Have only been wearing it for several hikes and overall I am happy with the shoes and hope they will last long.

Not many ladies trainers in large sizes and these fit the bill every time.

I’ve had these a few months now and wear them daily for dog walks. I’ve had sun, rain and snow and they’ve been great. I’m not a fan of walking in ice and when I tried these I did slip a few times so the grip isn’t all that for ice, in fact I’d say it’s slipper with these on than with my older Salomons. Other than ice which isn’t a daily occurrence in the uk, I love them and want to buy the black pair when they have the half size in stock.

Bought 2 times for my girlfriend. Really used in all weather conditions. Really waterproof and comfortable. Absolutely recommended.

This review would have been 5 stars all the way but unfortunately I’ve been unable to keep wearing my Solomon trainers are after a short period of time they become very uncomfortable, tight and now have blister etc. Have tried every trick known to break in but I have a broad foot and although my previous pair of these shoes were great the new ones just don’t have enough give for wearing comfortable, It’s such a shame as I love the shoe. they were great price, very well made and supporting and light weight but not for me sadly !

These are great shoes for muddy walks on uneven ground. Seem to be very waterproof and pretty easy to clean. Looked at looks of different brands and style but these suited me. Also the lacing is so quick, really recommend!

It is smaller sizes. I have same salomon running shoes – size 7.5, butfrom this shoes i needed size 8. Very tough inside, not well padded at the hills and around the hills.

Fit was good and I have wide feet so the slightly rounded toe worked well. No issue with blisters or breaking then in – felt comfy and I just got on with running!

Doing a lot of muddy trail running and grip and waterproofing are both good. Hopefully they will last (doing about 60km per week) and will buy again if they do.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI bought these shoes because I have started running on top of the ridge of the mountain where I live, running on pavement, stony paths, grass, bumpy ground, mud and bog. I have found them to have excellent grip and 100% waterproof. One day they got muddy so I washed them half in a stream – even so they did not let water in. If you are looking for walking shoe that isn’t heavy these would tick that box, but they are perfect for off-road running.

Straight out the box they have been comfortable for me. I bought a half-size bigger (8.5 instead of 8) I usually buy support shoes or use an insole, but these feel really supportive in all the right ways. I think I like the speed laces, I tighten them 3 times before I get going, but then they keep the shoe tight and are really easy to take off. I wholeheartedly recommend these shoes. I’ve owned a lot of running shoes and walking shoes (these are a kind of mix of both) but these have probably impressed me the most.

I got these shoes to walk the dog off road. They have good grip and are waterproof not just water resistant. Overall good shoes for off road on muddy trails.

My fault I had bought and returned several different brands and this one is really lightweight and perfect like my old ones that are great. I wore them first out only to find they pinch a bit. Trying to stretch them so I can wear them again. Brilliant make and shoe. My old ones are still going strong and still waterproof.

My old pair of Salomon trainers had lasted for about 5 years. I had to replace them and was delighted to find them again. So comfortable and supports feet perfectly. Also weatherproof so great for walking in the rain.

Very supportive and robust shoe. Laces area charm. Time will tell the reliability but so far I am pleased. Ordered one size bigger than usual which is what most of the reviewers commented.

It took a while to break these in but they are really comfy. I walk at least three miles a day in them with no problem. I really like the unique lace – really adaptable

I really like that there is ample toe room….that said I order up one half size 5.5 instead of 5 and the fit is perfect, comfortable from the word go. My go to footwear for work and outside. Wore a pair of these for a marathon and no blisters or sore spots and they have the additional arch support I needed. Great shoes and the quick lace system is truly amazing and time saving.

The Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra Gtx has been my go to for 10 years! cant go wrong for every day use or light hiking, I usually get a year of every day wear out of these before i finally break down and buy a new pair. Kevlar laces are incredible!

I ordered a half size up in this shoe as my usual size was not available, but unfortunately they are a little bit too big and slip a bit on the heel
Otherwise they are a good sturdy shoe and am disappointed having to send the back
    The search continues……

Brilliant shoes. Very comfortable, look great, always pleased with soloman. Third pair of this line I have bought and great durability and comfort.
As with all gortex though please size up a little. For example I went for a 7.5UK which is a 41EU when for “normal” shoes I am a 40EU or 40.5EU depending on the shoe, it’s because of the material so for your to be comfortable go up.

Great shoes but i haven’t tried them in the wet yet. I’m a uk7 & so ordered a uk8 and they’re still snug! But comfy for running in, altho they do have a high arch support!

This is my fourth pair of these shoes. They are the ideal all-terrain shoes for off-road long distances, with a snug fit, adequate waterproofing, and gripping outsole. I only wish the lining did not wear out so quickly. The heel-counter soon wears through the lining so that the shoes begin to shred even waterproof socks and have to be thrown away before the outer or sole are fully worn out.

I ordered a half size bigger than my normal size and felt I could have gone up a whole size so recommended anyone buying to do the same. I put them in a shoe stretcher overnight and went on my first 15k hike today it felt like I was wearing slippers they were so comfy! Not walked in rain yet but feel they will be waterproof. Very happy with this purchase and prompt delivery!

My daughter adores these shoes. Excellent quality and great colour scheme. She has used them everyday for the past two years and comfort maintains well etc. Really very good quality and very very comfortable.
Very very happy and worth the money. I said the fit was less than expected as what I am trying to get across is that with Gortex you have to size half up for example to ensure until you walk them in they fit, my daughter when she bought they were slightly small on the feet but after some usage they are perfect as they loosened/stretched out.

  23. Anonymous says:

I had a previous pair of your shoes which were very comfortable and my new pair are exactly the same. To get this fit though, I had to go up half a size. They have excellent support too. I wear them for hill walking in wales and every day walking in the countryside where I live.

I only buy Salomon trainers as I have a Mortons Neuroma and with the Ortholite insole I have no discomfort. I think it is worth paying a little extra for the waterproofing as we have fogs and they need walking whatever the weather, and we live in Scotland.

Really light, waterproof and have been totally non slip on steep hills
Very happy with them and highly recommend

Love my Salomon shoes, have worn them for years and just replace when they get worn out. Love the fact they do half sizes and with narrow feet, always feel they fit well. I am a size 3, however always go 3.5 for any running or walking shoes, trying to avoid black toenails. Great product as always

Comfortable from the first wear – no need to “wear them in”. I was very impressed with the durability of my 1st pair so decided to record the distance the next pair lasted – after 1170miles I have treated myself to a third pair!! They are still perfectly fine for gardening but the sole is more worn than I like for hiking. Not many shoes will cope with that mileage!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersNever intended to spend so much on running shoes but thought about my poor feet and knees which take a good pounding on my runs! These are so comfortable, I ordered half a size up to allow room for feet expansion whilst running. It does feel roomy but at the same time very snug. Very easy to get on and the lace up system is ace, not having to worry about laces coming undone during a run or having to double knot laces in the first place! Perfect for my feet with the ortholite within. If you’re happy to spend a little bit more, I’d recommend!

    Perfect!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is the third pair of this particular style that I have bought over the years. They never disappoint and fit perfectly in the same size every time. I tried other models from this brand and they don’t fit me as well so I have given up and will stick with these. I’m using them for summer and winter walking on terrain where I don’t want to wear my big walking boots. They are very durable and give a good grip and are absolutely waterproof. Plus I got them on a very good deal!Would recommend

Excellent shoes. Good grip in the mud and so far I’ve managed to keep my feet dry despite running down some very wet paths and through puddles. Also lightweight so good to take travelling.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought before a holiday travelling the National Parks in the U.S. I don’t get on with hiking boots and at home I do more running. I wanted something I could use for most of the holiday whatever we were doing. These shoes are brilliant. No blisters – and my feet blister just looking at new shoes. The grip was amazing for clambering around in Yosemite, the dusty desserts and the concrete mountains of San Francisco. They are fairly waterproof although not totally. When it finally really hammered down my feet did start that annoying squelching – but that probably came in over the top so don’t go swimming in them! These awesome trainers and when they eventually die I will be buying the same again. I needed a size 5 and I am normally a size 4 but my feet are a little wide.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersGreat for stability, light weight with excellent grip. Usually take a size 5 in everyday shoes (normally wear a 6 in running Mizuno / Asics / Brooks) very comfortable with size 6.5 with plenty of room in toe box. The heel area does feel lower than norm, the rest of the insole is contoured well and extremely supportive – I wear gel heel inserts in all my running shoes so this doesn’t trouble me.

Bought these for work and lunchtime walk so I don’t have to change my shoes before I go.
Had soloman walking shoes before so I knew about the small size issue.
Ordered a half size larger so fit is much better though still may be a bit narrower in the toes.

Used them throughout a South American adventure and they were my go-to’s for all terrains. My feet were always comfortable and well protected. They are a bit bulky, especially for someone like myself with slim feet – but also found these to be the best after lots of looking around.

Great shoes but buy a size and a half up. I wear 39 (25 cm) but for these I need 40 1/2.
They are wonderful for hiking and outdoor. Also I love the color scheme.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI wish I was joking. One thing is for sure – should there ever be a zombie apocalypse these are the shoes I will hopefully be in. I use them at the gym (pink pair), for hoofing about town on a busy rainy day (black pair), hiking across Ireland (pink and grey pair – oh yes I did), hiking in New Zealand (old black pair) and much more… Just buy them!

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersFirst I have to mention that I am a complete beginner, as far as running is concerned. I started rather incidentally a couple of weeks ago, to give my dog more exercise… First, I ran in my hiking boots. They are very good boots, fit perfectly (from Salomon), but they really slowed me down, and I had problems even doing only 2 km! I was afraid running shoes wouldn’t give me the support I need at my mature age, but decided to risk it. After a lot of research I bought these shoes, since they are Salomon as well. And I am extremely happy with them. I will have to get used to the fast close thingy, but that doesn’t merit a star less. When trying them on, I was afraid they would be too tight and hurt my toes – but this only lasted seconds, and then I felt completely “at home” in them (I chose half a size up from my usual size with this brand, 8.5 instead of the 8 from the hiking boots) and immediately did my first run, along a muddy trail with lots of different surfaces, rather slippery in part. They protected me beautifully. I did 3.5 km with energy to spare and, incidentally, easily broke my former records for 1 km and 1 mile. This speaks for itself! So now let’s try doing a run of a decent length one day!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersA very sturdy shoe, supports the foot perfectly, the sole is very comfortable, it is thoroughly waterproof and the laces brilliant. I recommend to buy a full size up, (not only half as i did) as it is fairly small. When you put the shoe on it feels very tight, but once you stand up and start walking it is surprisingly comfortable!
These are trail runing shoes. I bought them for walking shoes which I use everyday walking to work and back in a city environment, mostly asphalt/concrete and they never hurt, or dissapoint.
I’ve had them for 10 months wearing them everyday and last weekend i had the chance to actually use them for a 4 hour trail brisk walk in forest/next to the river trail. Their performance good, although the sole does not have a great grip on wet rocks and mud, it was slippery and by the end of the 4 hour trail, the top of my toes hurt because the shoes are a narrow fit.
Overall, I would recommend these shoes for anything less than a 3 hour adventure!

I have had Salomon walking boot for the last 15 years, I recently started running again and wanted waterproof shoes. These are great just like my boots a great fit and really light, so perfect for running in the winter. My only reason for four stars, I hate the self lacing systems, but that’s just me!

  45. Anonymous says:

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our Usersbeen buying these shoes for years. i bought a size UK 8.5 – the same size as the last pair i bought (the first couple of pairs were UK 7.5, the next a UK 8 and now two pairs at 8.5 – my feet haven’t changed size (my other shoes which i don’t wear often still fit!) so it must be the sizing by the manufacturer which has changed.

I live in these shoes, i don’t use them for running but do use them for gardening, walking about town, easy hiking, office wear with jeans.

once they stop being waterproof (takes about 12 months) i buy a new pair.

My wife is happy with these, she claims they are a great fit. They seem to be quite well made and sturdy. The lace system is superb and makes it so much easier when you’re in a rush. My wife hasn’t complained about comfort levels or any issues of that sort. Great trail shoe.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI really like the look of these trail runners and also appreciate the extra padding on the sole. I have to say that the laces start across the front of my foot where my foot bends at the big toe. I had a sore on the top of my foot after my first run. I will use different socks and add a plaster for preventative purposes as I don’t want to waste over 80. I think the laces start low for fashion purposes as I can’t see the advantage of having them start there – disappointed as otherwise these are a great shoe – any advice from others who have had this problem would be appreciated.

I have worn these trainers again, twice more, and I still have the same problem, pain on the top of my right foot where the string lace cuts across. Will need to get in touch with manufacturers….

I always buy these shoes and love the comfort and support plus the easy lace device. You can wear them right away without having to wear them in. I have a weak foot and these give it support underneath and around the foot while still being light to wear. Have had 6 pairs now – over many years. The waterproofing is also good.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is not the first purchase of this product so bought with confidence.
I have always found that buying my actual size taken in other shoes has been successful even with the GORE-TEX lining. Often people say half size up but I don’t find this necessary.
A comfortable shoe which is great for being outside in all weathers.
I’ve never trail ran in them but I’m sure they’d be fabulous.
Also smart enough to be worn with a casual outfit.
Quick dispatch and a great price, they are expensive full price but I think excellent value when discounted.

Bought these trainers to replace my Brookes ghost gtx.
I wasn’t sure which size to go for as my Nike trainers are 7.5 and brookes are 8.5.
I went for an 8 and they are great fit.
    Very comfortable and plenty support.
    Love the no tie laces.
Keep my feet warm and dry on all terrain.
Only downside is they are slightly wide and the tongue is thick and narrower than normal.
