Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersIch bin begeistert.

    Teuer!

I switched to the Sony mirrorless camera range and at the same time changed lighting systems to the Godex AD200 pro. I used a Godex trigger for the flash but was trying unsuccesfully by rigging a second trigger system for shutter release as I am a property photographer and often use slow shutter speeds and want to avoid camera shake when hitting the shutter button. This remote solved my problem and as a bonus also allows me to zoom and adjust focus. Great bit of kit!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersFunktioniert mit der A7M4 tadellos.

This is the best solution for the A1 and A7IV. I have them both and can say they work great with this. Just wanted a reliable shutter control for remote triggering. It is great.

Best Shutter Release remote I’ve ever used!

Af button on remote thought would be gimmicky ?
So handy to have when setting up long exposure shots without disturbing your camera- works flawlessly….

This device arrived with 24 hours of ordering and to my huge relief, paired with my Sony A7C in seconds. Good range from across kitchen into far corner of dining area and held behind my back. It just works.
I am a traumatised survivor of a JJC BTR-S1: it only worked when the mood took it – about 1 in 10 attempts to fire shutter: battery tested at 80%. Simply unreliable, not of merchantable quality.
A total of 95.00 to acquire remote shutter release functionality? I think I’m being bilked by remote control . . . . 🙁
    Postscript
I noticed the design of the button battery housing on the Sony seemed more substantial than on the JJC. Sure enough, when I inserted some paper between the button battery and the twist cover on the JJC , it seated the battery more tightly against the metal contacts and the JJC fired sweetly and reliably after that. I have a spare in case of loss #desperatereframeofhugecos

Great remote. Much better than previous sony infrared one. But not you have to program it to one camera. Too much of a faf if you have two cameras so buy two if you need it for both!!!

I bought this for my wife who is a keen photographer and thus the review is created by her own fair hand. She uses a Sony A7 and Sony A6100 and this remote is primarily used on her 6100 which, is set up most of the time catching the birds that visit our garden. Anyway, over the The Boss.

This remote is an absolute dream to set up and my Sony A6100 quickly found the remote and paired straight away. No less than you would expect from a quality compatible product but, nonetheless this sets the tone for the whole experience of using this remote.

Once paired I was able to autofocus and release the shutter from in front of, to the side of and most importantly behind the camera – because this is a Bluetooth remote, as opposed to an infrared and doesn’t need direct line of sight to the camera. The remote will work happily up to 5m from the camera with no delay in response.

I have focus magnify assigned to my C1 button and the C1 button on the remote replicates this function. Although I haven’t tried it, I assume the C1 button on the remote will replicate whatever you have assigned to C1 on your camera, but I can’t think of any other function that would be of benefit remotely.

The + and – buttons enable fine focus without the need to touch the camera, I find this especially useful when tripod mounted on full zoom as any slight movement on the camera through touch results in large movement through the viewfinder.

By switching the side buttons you can swap between zoom and focus and once again the + and – will work for both and can also switch between still photography or movie and providing your camera and lens support this, all the functions for still photography will work for movie.

Now, this is an expensive item for what it is and you can certainly buy generic remotes that probably do more for half the price. However, this is guaranteed to work out of the box, is very well made and has a sense of quality about it that many 3rd party items don’t. Given that it will be used for years, it’s a justified cost.

This remote is a very worthwhile addition to any camera kit.

Essential Addition to Your Sony Camera

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI actually own both the official Sony Remote Commander (RMT-P1BT) and a third party version by ‘AODELAN’; both of which do exactly the same job, except the latter is 20+ cheaper than Sony’s (at the time of review); Sony’s official remote does look and feel better, but if that’s not an issue then save yourself some money.

Note: If you have more than one compatible Sony cameras and want to use it on multiple cameras, you will need to re-pair each time switch over to another camera; it’s why I have two remote commanders so I have one for each camera: Sony A7III & A6600 (lazy I know, but I like the convenience).

The set-up was very straight-forward and only took me a couple of minutes to do. Once you have it paired, the remote commander is very quick to communicate with the camera.

If you have a lens with a power zoom feature, you can use it to remotely zoom. As for the focusing, it is very slow compared to handling the lens directly, but depending on what/how you are shooting will depend on whether this is an issue or not. For me at the moment, the slow manual-focus is a non-issue as I use it when doing macro shots, so the slow focus is actually a good thing for fine adjustment.

Overall, it’s a decent product and would certainly recommend it, but it does come with an unnecessary high price-tag… If style is not an issue, the ‘AODELAN’ brand is a good option for saving some cash.

It was purchased with some trepidation after experiencing the rather poor Sony app connectivity, but I have to say this remote works very well.
Connection is instant and reliable on A7Riv, the remote stays connected for as long as you have Bluetooth Remote On selected in the menu. It’s better to use a bluetooth remote than a cable into the fragile micro UBB port.
There’s no lag, focus is fine tuned for focus stacking, bulb mode operates with press to open shutter/press to close, no need to hold shutter button down
    Very happy with i

Lovely solid remote with great functionality for video and stills photography. It should be noted that some Sony cameras will need a firmware update for this product – ie the A7iii needs to be on v3.00 or later – once you update you’ll see the Bluetooth remote control options on your menu.

Much better than a Wired Remote obviously but only works with certain Sony a7 cameras – with right hardware and firmware. Check before purchase. Has no long exposure timer – use your watch. Push to open shutter and push again to close.
