I have 2 different sizes both good. I have the laptops in sleeves for extra protection as the padding could be thicker.

It is a great laptop bag and feels strong and sturdy and comfortable to wear and the straps don’t dig in to your shoulder like other laptop bags BUT the straps make this annoying squeaky noise every time I am walking, it comes from the straps, like a lot of squeaky noise, get’s really annoying.

My work colleague has one of these bags and I was impressed with it. Mine arrived on time, as usual. Nice, tidy-looking laptop bag, the laptop is secure & well protected in the bag. i think the bag would benefit from an extra compartment to accommodate an A4 pad but that might just be me, being picky, there’s plenty of room for other stuff such as phone charger, cables, mobile etc. All in all, well worth the money.

It was just what I was looking for, it’s very light but steardy and takes A4 documents also with the right number of pockets to put small items in plus one for mobile, therefore very pleased with the case although not being used to carry a laptop as advertised.

I need a small laptop briefcase, as opposed to the bigger rucksack style I’d been using. Despite being happy with the rucksack, I tended to lose stuff in it and overpack it!
This bag is absolutely ideal for what I needed, it’s stylish for business use and is really well made, with no corners cut.
The fact it is recycled, looks professional and doesn’t cost the earth, I’m very happy!
    Absolutely as described. Top stuff.

Good quality case with plenty of storage space, it should protect a laptop if accidentally dropped as there is a bit of spare room with a 17inch laptop inside. I have had Tarus cases before and I’ve always been happy with them. I bought another one for my partners 17′ laptop too after I had checked out the quality and fit. Recommended.

I have an HP Omen 17 version 2021 plus the slightly large PSU that comes with it, both fit perfecly, in fact with space all around so probably good for previous Omen versions too. I also carry a mouse, K/B, 2m Power cable plus several other items to, all fit in without any crowbar use.
The case is sturdy and confortable to carry around either by hand or shoulder.
I’m pleased with the purchase certainly.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe bought one of these bags in 2012 and it’s been brilliant and good value. One of the good things was that it was still a bag as well as a lap top bag/ case. The recent up to date purchase is a case and opens up totally, which is not as good for its purpose but still good value.

Having been provided with a new work laptop,i needed to have a storage carry case.Having eventually arrived, for less than 10.00 ,this item is extremely good value, and is exactly as described,it also benefits from having a side pocket to keep accessories such as a charger,Ethernet cable, mouse etc.The material it is made from is durable and comes with carry handles ,as well as the option to use a shoulder strap.Very pleased with this purchase.

Storage: This thing can hold everything from the laptop bulky charger to a womans pencil case (women love big pencil cases) and additionally books i don’t mean a book. You can add other stuff too like a womans scarf they love big scarfs haha

Durability: The sturdiness and toughness says it all !.. seriously its like aluminium in the metal world very strong and light as a paper unless you’re a woman who cant lift a paper ..

Lightweight: I am very pround of the fact that holding this in your hand is like you’re holding your laptop alone with handles screwed to it.

    Conslusion:
What a purchase !! After looking very hard for my specific bad habit of carrying nearly everything in it from my living room to my bedroom I finally found what I was looking for, I returned the other unnecessary large and bulky laptop bags which cost twice the price and also kept my Mrs smiling as it also facilitates her “requirements” too the large pencil case etc lol. Im a very happy chappy indeed thanks Targus you made my day !

Price spot in, capacity spot on durability spot on and weight spot on.

    Over and out..

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersHad this bag for a number of years and I used as my daily laptop bag. I’m a sucker for carrying alot of bits in my bag, keyboard, mouse and laptop stand – not including mountains of paper work and there’s still room. Only downside to this design of bag is, when your carrying so much it’s heavy and uncomfortable on the shoulder! But granted I carry alot and I’m a short woman… One of the 2 zips has given up and I’ve replaced with a backpack type to save my shoulders. But ultimately, it’s been great value for money and good quality!

Now I’ve seen it it wouldn’t suggest it wouldnt be up to daily/commuter use but as a safe way to store and occasionally transport a laptop it is perfect
I also bought a neoprene sleeve for added peace of mind as otherwise the space inside the bag is quite large so it would rattle about a bit
    Glad I bought i

Great bag and does the job. As others have commented, the interior is a bit too large for 13 and 13.3 laptops. The strap holds the laptop in place but it would be better if there was some sort of expandable surround that adjusted to size. Holds all my cables and gadgets. Good value.

  31. Anonymous says:

Basic design is good, but clearly not as well made as older Targus bags. My previous bag lasted 15 years. I doubt this will one will last more than two or three. The material is thin and the zips are particularly weak.

A compact case for carrying / protecting a smaller laptop. Room for a slim power supply in the front pocket. Shoulder strap has a firm plastic shoulder ‘protector’ would be better with softer / padded material. Allows you to carry your laptop ‘hands free’ if desired and will protect it from bumps and scratches

  33. Karen Tumbokon says:

So far, the bag is working just fine, though it would be nice to have a little bit more padding because it is such a big laptop it wouldn’t hurt to have more foam in the fabric, especially since 17in laptops are quite heavy normally. The strap doesn’t seem like it will last too long but it has been fine so far. The stitching is good enough for what I expected and the separator in the main compartment is a nice feature.

Very impressed by the quality of this product (CN313) for the price. Perfect for a 2017 MacBook Pro 13″. Side pocket has enough room for power pack, mouse, and additional cables. Strap is adjustable in length and feels sturdy. You could even carry a folder / A4 pad alongside your MacBook if your using it to travel with work.

Looks good and comfortable to carry , my Lenovo X270c 12.5″ laptop has more space than I would like the laptop but the main compartment has good padding with removable side and base support. the front has an open pocket that can hold a bottle of water if you arrange the contents of the front zipped section. The central pocket has a separate fleeced compartment with velcro closing for a tablet/ipad plus space for a full size A4 note book.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis product is outstanding. The quality is good and the advertising of the product is very accurate. It is always confusing to read other reviews particularly when they give a poor rating due to their not reading about the product before purchasing it. For example one star because their laptop would not fit… for heaven sakes do they not read the product details outlining measurements etc?

I am on the move a lot being a musician and I like to record on my iPad. I use this product to carry my iPad Pro 12.5″ which incidentally is in its own leather case. This fits nicely and with a little room down the sides for a pencil case or something similar. I also keep my itrack solo interface in this bag along with a 10″ x 6″ case which contains the necessary leads for my iPad Pro and recording equipment. With all of this in I still have some room for paperwork perhaps a book too.

There is room in the small front pocket for other items such as a mouse but then I don’t need one. However, it is in this area that my itrack solo interface lives with a portable standard size microphone 7″ long and connecting leads too.

In all my five star rating is based on the product meeting my requirements with a lovely finish all round. This is for a laptop to around 13″ so don’t expect to get a 15″ in it.

    Great produc

Good bag for the price. Don’t need dedicated tablet pocket. Could do with other mesh fronted storage and a few more padded pockets for delicate tech items. Also could do with a dedicated armoured PSU power cord pocket so that the pins on a 3 pin UK plug don’t damage ya pride and joy laptop. Otherwise a good bag for the price.

Targus CN418 Classic+ Clamshell Laptop Bag and Case, Fits 18 inch Laptops – 17 inch, Black

Finding a suitable case for my new laptop was a nuisance as it is quite large: an MSI GL72 7QF (17.3″ screen) with dimensions 420 x 287 x 37 mm, there were a few options here and there but they would either be 1-2 months before dispatch or too narrow in one of the spatial dimensions, but then I came across the Targus CN418 Classic+. This case feels robust with decent padding on the inside with a velcro strap and it also has an internal sleeve that covers around a half of the laptop as a means of helping is stay in place whilst you are on the move. The front compartment has plenty of room for the power adaptor for a laptop, alongside peripherals such as USB drives, pens/pencils, space for a smartphone and an iPod style of mp3 player.

Overall, it is a pretty good case for larger laptops and is quite stylish too. See images for a better idea of the case with my laptop inside it.

Excellent bag. I bought it for a portable DVD player which is 12.5 inches, and it fits fine, with not too much room each side so that it slides about. Plenty of room for dvd’s too, and a couple of pockets for a mobile phone if you want to put that in too. Smart bag, very happy with my purchase. Would recommend.

Had this for a while now and although the metal buckle has started to squeak when I walk it has been reliable with loads of little pockets to store random electric articles. It is waterproof enough for me to be confident to transport my laptop with little concern. (But I’m paranoid and cover it anyway)
The ability to put a lock through the zippers could be convenient but I have never used it.
The strap is fairly comfortable but I wouldn’t recommend it for long journeys where you can’t take a break.

Handy little bag that I use to carry my Surface pro 4. Sturdy construction with double zips. Front pocket ideal for peripherals such as the mouse and cables.
The computer part of the holdall has a strap that stops the computer bouncing around when being carried.

While the Surface Pro could not be regarded as heavy the padded carrying handles are very comfortable.

    Well worth the money

Was expecting a “reinforced rigid case” as per description. Nice bag, looks like picture but the written description is misleading. The only rigid part is the zip puller. Having said that, it’s a good case, seems well made, well padded and a nice snug fit for my 14 inch Dell 640. Packaging 100% Arrival time excellent. One day earlier than expected. Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersReally happy with it, my Asus T300 (13″) fits well, there’s enough room to use it with bigger laptops. It has loads of secret pockets/compartiments and I love that. I got in my bag my mouse, HDMI wire, CD reader, two hard drives, USB hub, loads of chargers/wires and even with all that I have plenty of space. Well built in, and easy to carry the bag. Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNeat, well made bag from a long-established manufacturer. Swallows my new 17″ desktop replacement laptop with room to spare – it would accommodate an 18″ machine easily. The second compartment is a bit of a let down – bigger pockets or even a sewn-in zip-up pocket or two for power supply and/or mouse (like my Tucano bag) would have been a nice touch, and wouldn’t break the bank during manufacture – I always carry my mobile in a jacket or coat pocket for convenient access anyway, so, to me, provision of two (very) slim pockets for phones in the second compartment is space-wastingly pointless.

It does more or less what it sets out to do, and is nicely made, but could be excellent rather than just good with a bit more thought ironing out storage niggles for accessories and essentials to the machine in the main compartment.

  50. Neil Ochs says:

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI ordered this case by mistake! But in the end it was a blessing in disguise. I wanted a carrying case for my new 13.3″ HP Pavilion laptop and came across the Targus brand, and which is available in several sizes, including one for up to 13.4″ models. Unfortunately, or so I thought at the time, I placed my order by clicking the item in my browsing list, but by doing so I clicked on the image for this model, but which is said to be for laptops up to 14.3″ screen size. I did not change my order, which turned out to be a wise decision.

The case is well made with a comfortable padded carrying handle and houses the laptop in a secondary pouch within its main body, and this is further secured by a velcro strap. The outer pocket has provision for various bits and bobs such as pens, paper notepad, mouse and power supply, which with the Pavilion is remarkably small. All in all, it is a well made bag and IMO justifies its moderate price, although as you will see below, getting the right size for your laptop, could be a little hit and miss.

Now this is where the actual dimension of the laptop, rather than screen size, is important with this case. Although said to be suitable for up to 14.1″ laptops, the inner containing pouch only just accommodates the Pavilion. The crucial dimension is the width, so as long as your laptop is no wider than 33cm it will fit. This makes me wonder that had I actually bought the model for a 13.3″ screen, (actually Targus indicate this model as suitable for 12″ to 13.4″ laptops) it would have been too small for an HP Pavilion.

Comfortable, spacious, cheap; I can fit my laptop and a magazine or paper-book in the back and put my laptop accessories and even my keys and phone in the front as well. Great for journeys long and short or general commuting. Looks professional and does as good a job as anything you’ll find for a higher price in a shop without breaking, and for less money.

    Very good for the money.
Thought it might have a pocket in main compartment where I could put A4, but no.
Could be a little more rigid at the back of the main compartment and around the edges to protect the laptop.
    Styling for me is uninspired.
Give it 4.5 if this review tool would let me, but as it doesn’t and I think I got plenty for my money its a 5.

This is a great laptop bag. It’s lightweight, but provides a lot of protection. The carrying strap is comfortable and well made. My Lenovo U430 fits perfectly in the bag and the velcro strap holds it in place well. The front pouch is capable of holding a suprisingly large amount of items. I can comfortably fit my laptop charger, three USB sticks, a notepad and a couple of pens in the front pouch. The bag is well made, both the stitching and the handle are high quality. I am really glad I spent a little more on this than on a cheaper one on Ebay as it is well worth the small amount more to get this laptop bag. I highly recommend this!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersOver the past few months I had seriously been considering the purchase of Toshiba’s latest CB30-B-104 Chromebook 2 laptop, primarily due to the overwhelming number of positive reviews written by satisfied owners.

It has a genuinely stunning Full HD (1920 x 1080p) 13.3″ TruBrite TFT High Brightness display with LED back-lighting & 16:9 aspect ratio, combined with a more than adequate 4 GB of DDR3L RAM (1600 MHz). The vivid IPS (In-plane switching) screen of Toshiba’s beautiful HD Chromebook 2 is ‘pin-sharp’ and imho also a joy to behold when viewed from any angle.

What’s perhaps even more surprising though is the sheer volume of clear undistorted high quality audio reproduction emanating from this diminutive device. I still haven’t figured out where all the sound actually comes from, because there is no sign whatsoever of a grille-opening to be seen anywhere, either on the underside of the Chromebook or the top or side of its chassis.

Clearly a well-deserved ‘pat-on-the-back’ must surely go to the talented team at SkullCandy responsible for ‘tuning’ these stereo speakers. Trust me, you simply won’t believe your ears until you hear one of these Chromebooks for yourself !

While searching Amazon.co.uk’s website, I discovered this inexpensive but smart-looking Targus 13.3″ Classic Clamshell Laptop Case with which to protect my new acquisition. On a number of prior occasions I’ve purchased cases manufactured by this brand and have always found them to be well constructed and excellent value for money.

Before placing a final order though, buyers should take note (as others have said) that the clip at each end of the adjustable shoulder-strap is made from strong plastic, as are the two D-shaped fixing points riveted onto both respective sides of the case.

I imagine that when carrying this case over their shoulder, consumers might have felt a greater sense of reassurance if metal parts (which I would have preferred) had been employed for both the strap clips and the D-shape attachments. I’m thoroughly convinced they would prove much stronger in the long run, thus explaining my reduced rating to only 4-stars.

On the other hand however, Toshiba’s Chromebook weighs so little (1.35kg) that this may not necessarily prove to be a major problem. Thankfully I had the foresight to retain a number of surplus straps (manufactured with metal fittings) that I kept from older/redundant cases, which neatly avoids the issue !

As previous reviewers have also mentioned, when their Toshiba Chromebook has been secured by the internal velcro strap of this 13.3″ Targus case, there still seems to be a fair amount of empty interior space remaining.

What’s really required in this instance is a piece of 19mm (“) thick foam cut-to-size, which could then be inserted to fill the base section of the case. There are numerous specialized on-line mail order companies (not forgetting local suppliers or furniture shops in your area) who can cut this material to your exact requirements, doing so reasonably cheaply in my experience.

The four zips of the Targus case reassuringly feel far more substantial than is often typical nowadays and the external section at the front of this case is divided into three individual compartments, suitable for storing items such as Smartphones/calculators, mains power adaptors/leads, mice, notepads and/or various sundry items such as pens/pencils etc (see 1st attached photo) ! FYI the interior measurements of this Targus Classic Clamshell Laptop case are 34.5cm / 13″ wide x 24.8cm / 9″ high.

I wasn’t entirely satisfied as matters stood, so I took the sensible precaution of investing in a separate grey 13.3 inch ‘CushCase Canvas Waterproof Sleeve Cover’ (please see 2nd attached photo), the interior of which is made from an amazing Ultra Soft Fleece Liner material. With the Toshiba safely tucked away inside the confines of the canvas CushCase, it then sits snuggly within the interior of the Targus case and affords my Chromebook greater protection on the move than it might have done otherwise.

The re-sealable opening ‘envelope-style’ end flap of the CushCase attaches to a corresponding 150mm x 19mm (5′” long x ” wide) strip of Velcro, which is securely sewn into the main outer surface of the sleeve.

Highly recommended, great value and fully deserving 4 stars ****

Bag arrived in less than 24 hours after order placed. Remarkable value for the price.
Had struggled to find a bag to fit Lenovo X 240 but this fits the bill. With the bag open there is sufficient room for USBs and cables to remain attached so that the computer may be used with the bag in situ. In this respect corner elastic restraints would have been lovely. (not a criticism at the price).
Bag is quite compact but with a quite large zipped external compartment for accessories. Smart in black with a touch of red detailing. Appears to be well made from a stitching etc point of view.
Contrary to another opinion, there is protective padding in the lining. No it’s not memory foam – but neither is the price.
I would hesitate to call it ‘clamshell’ which might offer visions of hard sided enclosures.
Shoulder strap ‘D’ rings are plastic which may or may not stand up to wear and tear, but many bags do not offer a shoulder strap at all.
No – the bag is not fur lined luxury and neither is the price. But it is well made, smart, more than adequate and exceptionally good value for the money.
    Very pleased with the purchase.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was fed up with trying to find a carry case that had all the necessary compartments for holding your various items…I didn’t want a backpack as for me they do not look very professional and I wanted something that would hold more than 3 sheets of A4 paper along with your laptop as the paperless office is not a reality and I needed a good amount of space for things like business cards, notebooks, reports, cables, USB stick, keys, name badges etc…and this does it and is really robust.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersNice bag, has pockets inside as described by previous reviewer. Nice smooth action to the matt black metal zips, doesn’t feel cheap at all. Comes with shoulder strap too (but be aware the loops are plastic – I don’t carry the bag on my shoulder so that’s not an issue for me). If u plan on carrying it around a lot on your shoulder, you might want to get one with metal loops on the shoulder strap.

Has space for my Macbook Pro charger and for a other things like usb pen drives and even a thin portable hard drive if you have one. If u use the inside straps to secure the MacBook Pro 13″, it’s quite secure.

For occasional and regular use in the house and for the occasional foray outdoors, I would recommend this. It might also do if u brought it out more often, but personally, I would get a bag with metal loops, but that’s just me.

EDIT: I’ve had a chance to look at the stitching and it’s been done very well.. it’s aligned and doesn’t look like it will come apart any time soon.

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersI bought this for my 12″ iBook. I’ve used Targus cases in the past for work computers.

It is ideal for the daily commute to work and holds everything I need with easy access.

The D-rings are made of plastic (my only concern – I would have preferred metal) and these allow the included shoulder strap to be used. The handles are sturdy with a comfort grip and X-stitched onto the bag.

There are just two zipped pockets. One for the laptop and one for ‘everything else’. Something else I liked was the very subtle red trim on the case and the zip tags. Each pocket has two-way zip tags. The zips are medium to heavy duty with a solid, positive action. Loops are provided for a security padlock.

The laptop pocket opens fully and the laptop is secured by a couple of Velcro straps. It’s large enough to take A4 pages or books as well.

The accessories pocket has two triangular limiters either side so it opens up partly – nothing spills out – and feature a larger pocket for notes or paper. Two pockets in front easily hold spare batteries, portable hard drives and a slightly narrower pocket with a flap can keep USB pen-drives, cables, memory cards, etc. secure. There is still room in front of these pockets for other items

Even with the slightly bulky Apple power adaptor, when closed this case is still low profile.

Overall, the case is compact and light compared to the bulkier cases I have owned. Most importantly, the case feels sturdy and I am confident that it will hold my equipment safely as I move between locations.
