    Vibram fivefingers V Trail 2.0

    As advertised
Second pair of Vibram’s love them. This particular pair fits as expected. The only reason I bought these is because my old ones (Black) finally wore out after 5 years.

Be advised, these type of shoes are not for everyone, I love going barefoot, so when I NEED to put on shoes. These are it.

    Thanks

Seems a bit small at firs
This is my first venture into “barefoot” footwear so i can’t give a comparison to others. However as a first timer getting the shoe on was a hassle (quickly learned there is a trick) especially as I have one of those goofy kinda always bent pinky toes. It seemed almost impossible to get my pinky toe in place, but tonight I decided to try them without the toe socks and wow, so much more comfortable. I was reading that in summer months only about 30% of folks wear socks but 90 in the winter months for the added warmth, but high quality toe socks are what is needed for comfort.

Certainly will try other Vibram models as well.

First of all, I love it but I have to say it is different, and it is not for anyone. The following review is really about sharing stuff I learned during my use.

Starting with the pros. The vibrams are very lightweight and easy to put on. I have been majorly using them as outdoor slippers when I go out camping, working around the house and sometimes just walk around. They have great tractions and keep the feet breathing.

Now, I haven’t actually put them for regular gym training, hiking and other outdoor sports, due to their major kinks. First, comparing to regular sports shoes and hiking boots, vibram has thin and equal thickness across the sole, so if you are heavy or just not used to exercise barefeet, you will feel way more pressure onto the back of the feet and way more shock then what you usually expected. But I do believe you can get used to it or overcome it by training the feet.

Second, considering the low thickness of the sole, there are very low defense on the bottom. You fell very sharp feelings walking on regular gravels or rocks, and I don’t feel confident taking them for hiking.

Sizing is the hardest part, since you need to choose the size base on the “true size” rather than your regular true size. I have returned about 4 or 5 times just to get it to work.

It is not necessarily smaller than regular size, like if you are already wearing larger size shoes for more rooms, you don’t have to go up a size, but have to actually go down. Also don’t worry too much if you generally wear EE shoes, I didn’t encountered any problems.

Also there shouldn’t be any outstanding wiggle room in the shoes, for best “adhesion” you need to have both front and back end of your feet contact the shoes, otherwise there might be slipping.

    Great first fivefingers!
It may take a few days till you feel absolutely comfortable in these shoes, however i didnt get any pain even at the very first days, they are very light but also solid.
I ordered size UK 10/10,5 as usually and they fit just perfectly
Only thing i wouldnt recommend is running during the first days, you should wait till they “copy your feet” as recommended by Vibram.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the job.
Had these before they are great once your feet have got used to them.

Fits true to size, excellent for forest running!
I’m new to five fingers, so I don’t have a comparison. I’m very satisfied with this product, here are some general observations:

    – i have a 43 foot size, bought the same size vTrails and they fit perfectly (despite some confusing comments on reviews how you should buy larger or smaller sizes)
    – many people commented on a stitch below the fingers which was uncomfortable. I do feel it from time to time, but less and less so after using them for a couple of times. I don’t think this is a reason not to buy
    – the sole is quite thick, the feet actually didn’t hurt me at all when running on gravel, maybe a bit just on a very sharp stone here an there
    – i really like the way the shoes are tightened by the elastic laces, it’s perfect
    – keep in mind they aren’t waterproof so the feet do get wet whenever the surface is damp or wet
    – getting used to walking / running with them takes some time, I have muscle pain, mostly in the calf region every time I use them so far (2 months)

All in all, i think it’s a great purchase and the green ones even look pretty cool.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAim For A Size Bigge
After reading many reviews I decided to purchase my first pair of Vibram five fingers – V-Trail 2.0 The sizing seemed to be the main bone of contention with previous buyers. I’ve opted for a pair of size 45 – one size up from my usual trainer size of 43/ 44. The initial fit seemed loose, however after walking around in my house wearing no socks they seem to be the right fit. I’ve ordered two pair of 5 finger socks just to see the difference, and if they’re an improvement will wear these when training (plus it’ll help keep the smell down)!
So, if you’re sat on the fence wondering whether to buy I would recommend buying a pair one size larger than you’d normally wear – seems to have been a good choice in my case.
Once I have worn these for a few weeks I’ll update the post with my findings……..!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThey take time to get used to
This my third pair ,I now do all sports in five fingers & when I’m out & about ,had to change my footwear due to a heel injury, these shoes take a while to get used to, & they are not for everyone, but I wouldn’t use anything else bought these to hill run, size for me is 9 so fitting is 43 /8.5

Pricey but the most fun shoes I’ve run in.
l/dr – the vibrams for rough terrain.

If you want this type of shoe and run trails these are the ones.
Got my first vibrams years ago and loved them ever since. My first were trail types (Spyridon). I ran hundreds of miles in them before the heel thinned.

Got some KSOs the second time for the thinner soul which were great sensation wise but not for trail running. They haven’t lasted 6 months and ripped between the big toe before the soul came away from the fabric part along the side.

These are an updated version of the Spyridon in my experience.
They are a much more solid build and the soul has a chunky grip so I feel much more confident running across mud/wet wood planks) than I did with KSOs.

Size wise I’ve worn both UK 9s (Vibram 43) and UK 9.5/10 (V44). While technically the 43s were a better fit they eventually pulled at the seams. I go one size larger as it gives more room for my foot to flex as I run.

I wasn’t sure if I would like these and decided to take a risk, I absolutely love them. I am Uk Size 11 and based on previous reviews I decided to order 10/10.5 and these fit perfect (after wearing them in) do take into consideration your feet, ankle and legs are going to take some adjustments so take it slow

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWell made& a good fit for me
My initial impression is very good. I’m a UK 10.5 to 11 and I ordered size 10 to 10.5 (EU 45). The shoes were just right. No soreness walking round my house all day. I’m new to barefoot running, so I’ll update this review after I’ve built up into this style of running. However, shoes seem really well made.
