Dash Cam and rear camera set works really well. It’s been almost 5 month and no issues with it. Very happy with my purchase. The tape on the other hand doesn’t work as well.
I’m sticking it to plastic part of my car and it comes right off. Currently holding it in place with duck tape. Planning to drill it in place and it should be good.

All my cars have Wolfbox 12″ mirrors. Better all around view than stock especially blind spot areas. It’s a must now days to have proof you weren’t at fault if you have an accident. Wont drive without one. Great product support if you have any problems.

This is an amazing product. Records and plays back right on the mirror. At night visibility is above average (I drive a truck). Great customer service, they answer any and all questions in less than a day. . Highly recommended

This is the third camera i have owned. the first two wolfbox cameras had issue with getting hot, it would melt the housing around the plugin. so far the best in my eyes is the G850. I am waiting to get my second G850.

I’ve used this for 1 year and it works well. The only complaint is the rear camera is needs to be more clear at night. The should use the front facing camera for the back facing camera. But the product works well. I use it everyday. I drive a pickup and I see the blind spots with it.

Deshalb beide Daumen hoch!
    Danke Wolfbox, danke Mia!!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe only reason I deducted a star was due to the fact that I need to connect to the cams WiFi to view the video. I thought it would connect to my home WiFi and I’d be able to view the videos via a portal where it would keep my videos on a cloud service. I guess I was asking a lot for a cheaper solution. For the price the unit is of great quality. I just find it redundant that the videos are only viewable if I’m on the cam WiFi or take the SD out and view on my computer. Useless if someone breaks into my car and simply steals the SD. Then they get away with it and I have 0 evidence. Or if someone steals my car entirely, then I have nothing since the video is only locally available. I wish it could upload to a service or even connect to a google drive or drop box that way I can view videos at anytime and I’d feel a lot more confident in the service. Only really good for catching hit and run incidents. Good enough for the price I suppose.

I previously ordered a wolf box dash cam for my truck, and I’ve been very pleased with it, so I wanted to get one for my wife’s Grand Cherokee as well. I got the 890 for myself, but my wife didn’t want the interior camera so the 850 looked perfect. My initial reaction is that I am just as happy with it as my 890. The menu/settings screen are a little different between the two but otherwise it’s very similar. The images are very clear and the touch screen is responsive. One thing to note is that the mirror is big, not in a bad way, it’s just quite a difference from the Grand Cherokee mirror.

Install is very simple, but depending on how well you want wires hidden, that can definitely add a good chunk of time. It honestly couldn’t be any easier, just plug it in to a 12v outlet and boom it’s on. I currently chose an outlet that is only powered with ignition so I am not currently using the parking monitor mode. Overall I am very happy with it and have been showing my camera off to all my friends.

    Peace of mind

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a well-rounded, but imperfect kit. I bought it for a 2010 Nissan Maxima without a stock backup camera. I don’t actually care about the dashcam portion or recording people behind me; I just want to not drive into things while reversing. Evaluated as a mechanism to tape other motorists doing dumb things, this Wolfbox is great. As a backup assist, it’s lackluster.

Installation took about four hours over two sessions with the hardware kit. Ten minutes was attaching and adjusting the mirror. It mounts offset by an inch (the dashcam sticks out too much to center it), but securely with the rubber straps. (Subsequent to this review, I bought Wolfbox’s bracket to replace my factory mirror. This would have been easy, except I had to reduce the length of the included screws with a bench grinder.)

An hour was the hardwire kit, in part because I had to use a multimeter to differentiate ACC slots from always-on and do a bit of troubleshooting. Each of the included fuse taps has two fuse holes, but a single fuse. They need two to operate. You’re meant to pull an existing fuse and use it. My box was compatible with both micro and mini-style fuse taps, so I just borrowed a fuse from the unused tap for each and used blank slots.

Three hours was pulling panels and trunk liner to run the rear wire. It required significant disassembly of my trunk. It would have been a lot easier to mount it inside on the rear window, for which the including adjustment bracket was apparently designed. Mounting above my license plate, the 20′ wire included had an extra three feet for my car. There’s a 33′ wire for longer vehicles or less direct wire runs. The connector is four-pin and proprietary.

    Some notes after installation:

    * Camera image quality seems quite good. Sharp and bright. Minimal noise visible on the screen at night. Glare is minor at night unless it rains. With water on the lens, headlights cause severe reflections, though the lens does eventually dry.

    * The mirror LCD is good. Not great. The brightness range is narrow (could be brighter) and there’s no light sensor, so you’ll be fiddling with it when the sun goes down. In broad daylight, the picture doesn’t quite overcome the mirror reflection, so I tend to leave the LCD off. Viewing angles are good. Color depth is low (you can see posterization or dithering in some gradients). Touch-response is adequate.

    * The UX is a bit dated compared to what I’ve seen in some videos. It hides functionality based on what’s detected (rear camera, GPS), which is confusing; I thought I’d bought a cut-down version until everything was plugged in. You can’t turn off the blinking record icon and timer or the GPS overlay. Boot time from a cold start (i.e., any time after the 12 or 24-hour time-lapse parking function has ended) is 7 or 8 seconds.

    * With the LCD off, this is a dim, but functional mirror. It’s a little darker than I’d like at night, though headlight glare is minimal as a result. I do like that it’s significantly larger than my stock mirror. You can leave the LCD on and still see people behind you depending on where your eyes are focusing, but it’s a little unnatural. The button to turn the LCD off is accessible on the bottom and responsive.

All that aside, let’s talk about the backup camera. I don’t love it. With stock cameras, you see your bumper and the horizon. This camera isn’t wide enough to do that and show it onscreen. If it’s mounted with the camera straight out, you won’t see your bumper even if you pan down on the LCD. That’s the only way it can be mounted unless you buy or make an angled mount; the one it comes with is the wrong orientation to tilt the camera down (unless mounted inside the rear window). If you tilt the camera down to show your bumper at the lowest pan, the highest pan is a little too low to see the horizon.

The overlay markers only show up if you’ve attached the reversing wire. They don’t dynamically update as you pan and they’re not useful at all with the camera mounted on the trunk. I suspect they’d be a lot better with the camera mounted to the rear window, because you could actually line up the markers to the shape of your car with adequate overlap and you wouldn’t ever need to pan. Mounting this camera this way is likely to have more glare and poorer low-light performance, though.

In sum: despite the instructions and various guides describing an external location for the rear camera, the included mount and the overlay markers seem designed for a rear window mount. I’d probably give it 4.5 stars for that, but only 4 otherwise.

The G850 looks like and can be used as a regular rearview mirror, but it is so much more. It is also a computer screen/viewer that shows you what is seen through both forward and rear cameras. The clarity is great on both cameras with super high resolution on the forward camera. Both cameras record at all times and it is easy to view the recordings on the device itself.

The clarity of the footage captured by this dash cam is truly outstanding. Whether it was recording during daylight hours or in low-light conditions, the camera consistently delivers sharp and detailed video.

I got it installed for a fee at a well-known electronics store. After that, the setup process was a breeze and it is very easy to operate. The settings are easy to use, and you can change the camera views just by swiping. If you want to lock a recording, its just a tap and lock. Plus the back-up camera is as good as one original on modern cars.

One wish I have is that the instruction manual should include how to get the video off the device and onto a phone or laptop. I eventually figured it out after I witnessed an accident on the way home from the installation.

Overall, this is a great addition to a car both as a camera to record events, and as a backup camera.

First, not knowing about the product, I reluctantly ordered thinking I will return it the next day if I am not satisfied with it. I had the G850 and the quality is beyond what I expected, although they mentioned 4K, I am hard to impressed regarding video quality. I work on hi-res graphics a lot of time so I know what to look for.

The video quality is what you expect a 4K should be. The rear camera may not be 4K but it is still crisp and clear. Hardwire installation is a breeze. The Wolfbox hardwire kit is all you need to complete your installation.

Overall, I am very pleased with the product that in a span of 4-days, I am convince with the product and bought a second G850 for the other car.

Linda who is handling the customer service is excellent in getting back to answer all inquiries. I would say, my best customer service experience on products I ordered thru Amazon.

After close to two weeks, I cannot wait for Prime Day that I bought my third unit, an i07. Linda even sent me a hardwire kit for FREE and a discount on my purchase. Can’t beat that!!!

So far so good, the units are working the way it should be and I am extremely satisfied with the purchase.

I bought this dash cam primarily because I interest to have a mirror dash cam which I can see rear image. Wolfbox looks like a better option in the market, besides having competitive features and reasonable price, the vendor is still “active” and they keep releasing new models, as well as firmware update.

I have used the dash cam for 1-2 weeks, so far:
    – Installation is easy
    – No compliant on camera quality (I believe it is on par with entry / mid level dash cam)
    – UI is easy to use, didn’t experience any issue on stability so far

There are a few areas of attention:
    – I used the cam on Sabaru Crosstrek 2024 model. There is a problem which the front camera will be blocked by the eyesight camera a little bit (since Sabaru has 3 eyesight cameras in front now and the overall size has been increased). There is also no way you can adjust the camera to eliminate the blockage. If you move the mirror closer to driver side to avoid the blockage, your front image will be shifted to the driver side which you will miss part of the image of the passenger side (front). This is not a problem just for this product, but basically applicable to almost all mirror dash cams except those with removable front camera (there are very few options with this capability).
    – The display brightness is usable but still a bit dim, especially on very sun shinny days. Indeed, while some people complained about the resolution of the mirror dash cam monitor, which I don’t think that is very critical – in my opinion display brightness is far more important.

For me, I have a 2nd front dash cam so the 1st problem is acceptable but if you want to buy this as the only dash cam, you should check whether you car has similar issue as mine.

I hope they will release version with the following features:
    – Removable front camera
    – There are vendor(s) (at least one from Japan) releasing mirror dash cam with night vision camera, that is very impressive … but I think night vision camera should be at rear (they put it in front). It will be good to see more vendor(s) to incorporate such technology in mirror dash cam in future.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a great camera system. Mirror dash cams are definitely a different breed but in a good way. Almost everything I dislike about regular dash cams are not an issue with this WolfBox 850 model. I installed the camera and all accessories myself. It was a big deal to get the rear camera installed, location, wiring, tapping into the reverse light power, but that is true for all rear camera installations. One could always take to a professional if needed. The end result is awesome and totally worth my time. I am so impressed with the touch screen functionality. All settings, viewing, playback, switching cameras are immediately accessed via touch screen, and mirror dash cams do not take up more window real estate which I like. The picture is great and can be adjusted up or down as needed when recording. If you need to look at files on a PC, the WolfBox Player works great and has map tracking capability. I installed the hardwire kit for parking monitoring (only up to 24 hrs) and collision capability. When the mirror cam is off, the reflection is a little on the dark side, but it gets the job done for my needs. I really do not want to use the screen saver as I would rather constantly see the rear video stream. I do, however, have one issue with how the front mirror cam attaches to my old mirror. My mirror has OnStar buttons that protrude along the bottom. Therefore, my mirror is not straight across the bottom, and it keeps the mirror cam from fitting perfectly (see pic). The attaching mounts should be about an inch more apart or offset a little since the camera lens is on one end of the mirror cam, thus keeping it from being centered on the old mirror. Also, larger mirrors will stick out on the other side slightly. I contacted customer service and they were the simply outstanding! My solution was to use their mirror mounting bracket (see pic). This bracket replaces my old mirror completely. I will lose OnStar capability, but that is not an issue for me because I do not use it. Hands free calling still works with the OEM mirror removed. I am completely satisfied with this mirror dash cam. Not everyone will need to replace their mirror, but it is a clean look to do so, and it increases the awesomeness and functionality of this mirror dash cam system.

Hello, this is my 4th Mirror Dashcam, and 2nd by Wolfbox.

As for how the unit functions, it is what you would expect from a Mirror Dashcam, and you can get all the details you might want from many review videos online. The only small item for me is I feel the display could be a notch or two brighter in the daytime. Though, as it is not in my car, that also might be my sensibility only due to the short time I’ve used it.

We did encounter a problem though. My daughter reported the rear view was blurry, and was hard to use at night. Looking in the daytime, perhaps it was not exactly sharp, but it wasn’t unusable, until night time. What I discovered is headlights would flare from the top to the bottom of the display. it was very hard to view anything at night, and hard on the eyes due to how bright it was.

I reached out to Wolfbox support, who got back to us quickly, and even though I was out of town an unable to share a video clip of the camera, they quickly sent a replacement rear camera. I swapped the camera’s yesterday and my daughter reports the image was perfect now, and no more giant flares coming from headlights at night! Thank you Amber for you superb support.

Overall I’m very pleased with the unit. More so their customer support. I definitely recommend Wolfbox if you cannot figure out which of the myriad brands to pick from.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have been living without a working front and rear dashcam for a while and had been eyeballing this Wolfbox G850 for a bit. I installed it in my 2018 Kia Optima EX and I gotta admit, it was both pretty easy and it looks/fits great in the vehicle!!

    Installation:
If Kia or if your vehicle has MICRO fuses, use this: https://www.amazon.com/WOLFBOX-Hardwire-Parking-Multiple-connectors/dp/B09X9F8GMT due to multiple adapters.
Otherwise, if your vehicle has MINI fuses you can go with https://www.amazon.com/WOLFBOX-Hardwire-Parking-Multiple-connectors/dp/B09X9F8GMT/ which is the standard USB C Hardwire kit for MINI fuses.

I installed this by hiding the wires within the liner of the vehicle on the windshield and down the trim line for the USB C Hardwire, GPS, and Rear Camera cabling. A little more wires than I’d love, but with all the attachments, it’s necessary (Wish GPS could just be build into the mirror!).

I was able to route the cable to the rear camera through the inside of my vehicle and I ran it through the trunk lid liner and popped the cable out through the same hole as my license plate light. It was a tight fit, and doesn’t allow the light to fully seat, but it’s minimal and I don’t anticipate any moisture intrusion. If observed, i’ll likley place some putty or foam to keep the moisture out.

The directions are super simple to follow and the Camera itself looks GREAT. It has numerous features such as speed minder (alert), flipping the camera view or mirroring it, etc. You can see both the front and rear cameras simultaneously OR you can have it show one or the other — simply swipe to the left or right to cycle through the different views.

The 4K quality both front and rear are impeccable. You can download Wolfbox’s software for video viewing/editing directly on their website as well, which makes editing and posting the videos a breeze!

I did have to use the MICRO FUSE adapters, and Wolfbox’s customer service took care of me via WhatsApp in less than 24 hours and had an alternative item shipped to me quickly for the installation.

I am in love with these cameras for numerous reasons: Video Quality, product quality, ease of installation, size of cables (easy to hide), hardwire option, and customer service.

Great 4K Camera for Front and Rear of your vehicle!

I’ve used a mirror similar to this (1080p Toguard dash cam) for 6+ years. Bought this thinking it would be a great upgrade to the one I’ve been using. The 4K camera quality is great, night vision is great, compact form covering existing rear view mirror is great. The customer service was PHENOMENAL! Literally never had a better experience with any seller from Amazon. They (specifically Alice from WolfBox customer support) was truly the best. Compassionate, helpful, and incredibly kind. I’m so sad to say I returned it, for 1 specific reason. This dashcam record in a .ts file and is only able to be replayed through their proprietary video player. The biggest reason I was wanting to upgrade from my existing dashcam, which works perfectly fine, is to have easily accessible files that I can copy, share, edit, and work with. My current dashcam records in .avi files and my Mac doesn’t work with those. If this dash cam recorded in a common mp4 file that would have been perfect.
Highly recommend for all other features!

here’s no point listing positives because it’s allready in the description. although I have couple of aspects that would make it even better.

instead of lithium battery, it has a capacitor which is great, but it does not quite remember the time I set it to. would be nice to have some battery life in it.

and another thing is screen glare. so far sun has not managed to hit the screen itself, but it glares light bouncing to it from other surfaces. so on sunny days looking at the screen to check my rear (I use the rear camera as a rearview mirror as a default), I see a lot of other relfections obstructing my clear picture. so some anti-glare coating on the screen would be helpful.

otherwise I couldn’t be more happy with it.

PS: harware kit is due to be connected.

EDIT: after installing the hardware kit, it remembers the time it has been set to.

another way to have a better view on sunny days would be actually increasing the brightness in the system.

and I have an issue with loop recording. it just does not funktion. I’ve had to manualy format card to start recording again. worder if there’s an easy fix with that.

I do delivery and personal shopping. I bought a 2009 Civic so I could get better mileage. The car is great but I really needed a backup camera. Also a mirror because it was tiny and had age spots obscuring some of it. I bought the 840S which I love but decided to upgrade to the 850. The picture is much better and crisper and the settings menu is much easier to navigate.

I recently had neck surgery and I need to limit craning my neck as much as possible. I found out very quickly how much I rely on the mirror when I drove my equinox. It has a backup camera but the mirror doesn’t cover nearly as much area. Being able to have the back camera visible all the time is a true game changer. I still have to turn my head occasionally but not nearly as much as I was driving my non wolfbox car. It really helps to eliminate blind spots.

Setup is pretty easy. It’s basically a standard rear camera installation and then you strap the mirror part on. Definitely read the manual because you’ll probably have to make some adjustments depending on your vehicle and your camera placement. It’s as easy as swiping up or down to get it perfect!

Just want to add I found out that when I adjust the backup lines (view in reverse) it doesn’t affect the adjustment of the normal rear view. Just don’t put the car in reverse before the mirror boots up or it won’t recognize that you are in reverse. Not a big deal just something to keep in mind. (Put it in park and then go back to reverse to get the lines back). Still really love this mirror after a week of heavy use!

Easy to install if you have used similar types of mirror dashcam before. This is probably my 3rd mirror dashcam. All seem to work well but all seem to last around 18 months.

This seems to be standard as I have also tried Road Angel which has a 3 year warranty but that one failed about 4 months.

Golden Review Award: 26 From Our UsersI am really impressed with this Mirror Dash Cam (Front & Rear). Here are my Pros and Cons:

    Pros:
    Camera (picture) quality is very sharp, colors are perfect. There are 3 quality settings;
    Front Only = 24 FPS; 2160P
    Front Only = 30 FPS; 1440P – smoothest playback
    Front Only = 24 FPS; 1080P
Front & Rear = 24 FPS; 2160P + 1080P – a little jerky during playback because of the details in the pictures
    Front & Rear = 30 FPS; 1440P + 1080P – smoother playback since more frames per second
Front & Rear = 24 FPS; 1080P + 1080P — keeps the playback of the 2 cameras in sync better

Download the FREE WolfBox Player or play the recordings directly from any video player that supports .TS files (most players do)
Both of the camera’s day or night recordings are extremely clear and can easily read license plates

Abundant Settings to control the cameras (see attached picture)
Loop Recording increments of 1- or 3-minute segments, oldest recordings are overwritten by the newest recordings
128 GB card = approx. 11 hours of recordings before being overwritten. but since it loops you could get by with a smaller card. The 128 GB SD micro card is around $17 on Amazon for Samsung U3 A2 V30.
Audio quality seemed fine. Can hear my music, any talking, and engine accelerating

Hardwire Kit required for Parking Mode and IMO is a MUST HAVE as it turns off the camera when you get out, but still supplies power to record if the Parking Mode G-Force sensor is triggered and it doesn’t drain your car battery.
The Rear Camera includes a red wire that connects to any reverse light that shows the back-up lines when in Reverse
I put this camera in my Silverado 2500 Long Bed Crew Cab mounted to the inside rear-view mirror. There was plenty of extra wire for the power (both in the supplied cigarette lighter and also the hardwire kit). For the rear camera cabling I used the 33-foot (10 meters) extension cable and it was enough to run from the rear-view mirror, into the door molding to go outside and under the truck, hiding the wire all the way to the bumper with plenty of cable left over. Thankfully they include a plastic trim spacer tool that helps tuck the wire into the trim moldings.

    Easy to deploy firmware updates
I love the 12-inch display (inside mirror) for the picture quality and also the Touch Screen for selecting the various options.
Fantastic Customer Support responds within 24 hours to each email and are genuinely concerned, kudos!!!

    Cons:
Hardwire Kit, took a little over an hour to install, but worked perfectly the first time
I initially had an issue with playback on Windows 10 desktop using GPS Player or using WolfBox Player had no audio. I finally discovered a setting for Spatial Sound (new in Win10) set to OFF by default. Change setting to “Windows Sonic” or to “Dolby Atmos” and that allowed the audio to play perfectly. Search Google for how to easily change that setting for Windows 10.
G-Force detection set to LOW creates recordings when hitting bumps while driving and even shutting doors. Medium seems to eliminate False Triggers and is sufficient to monitor Parking Mode triggers.
Must mount the Rear Camera with Flat side UP or the recording is inverted
Day Light Savings setting manually moves the time forward or backward, it’s not set automatically

Hope this review helps someone deciding if this camera is right for them.

I’m very impressed by this Mirror Dash Cam and Rear Cam

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’ve had multiple cameras for my car over the past few years this beats them all by far the quality is amazing it’s well made easy to install and is highly durable! The touch screen is perfect and easy to use and the locked videos get saved so you have to access them on a pc to get them off so they don’t get deleted by accident! Amazing camera! And amazing quality! Easily attached to your internal mirror and perfect if you don’t have a back window as the rear camera quality is amazing!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI recently upgraded from t10 to the G850.
Wolfbox have absolutely upped the game from previous versions. First the camera is on opposite side this has removed the problem of having the angle of camera conflicting with angle of mirror. The quality of camera is alot smoother and has less motion blur. The settings have been updated and are alot more clear and extra options. Very happy with the camera. On a final note the company have fantastic faq and support. Definitely would recommend over the bigger brands.

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersI got this Wolfbox camera for a very good price, and replaced my older (technically illegal) Z-Edge dual dash cam with it. It’s about the same price as the Z-Edge, but has a much larger screen, better interface, and like I said is not illegal. The reason some Dash cams are illegal is that they partially obstruct the windshield (like my Z-Edge). The Wolfbox is fantastic because it actually attaches to your rearview mirror and does not obstruct any of your view of the road.

Accessories and additional items included in the box(the dashcam is obviously included):
Silicon attachments (use these to hold the dashcam on the mirror, there are smaller ones for smaller mirrors which I used, and larger ones for larger mirrors)
Microfiber cloth to clean the screen
    Power cord
    Rear camera
    GPS attachment
    User manual

    Installation:
As mentioned, you just attach the silicon stretchy brackets to the upper back hooks of the dashcam, hang it over your mirror, and then attach the lower part of the brackets to the lower hook on the dashcam. You then can attach the power cord and rear view camera wire and run them behind your paneling (I attached pictures and a video with a brief summary of how I ran my wires). Plug in the GPS (attach somewhere out of the way with the 3m tape), and then plug in the cigarette lighter adapter. Voila! You are good to go. Don’t forget to take the protective plastic off the cameras (not that I have ever forgotten that haha).

    Great features that are included:
General direction you are driving (N for north, SE for southeast etc.)
    Time and Date
    Speed
Screen Saver mode (in Screen Display under settings, talk more about this later)
Sensitivity adjustment (how big of a bump you want for the camera to recognize a “crash”)
Brightness adjustment (turn it down to low, or use screen saver mode if you want to use the camera as a mirror instead, talk more about this later)
    A very responsive touch screen
    Button to take a picture
Change resolution (options are 4k, 2.5k, and 1080p. Default is 2.5k.)
Loop time of the recordings (options are 1 min, 3 mins, 5 mins. Default is 1 min)
Whether you want to record audio or not.
Option to attach the reverse line so the camera will automatically turn on the reverse camera when reversing
Can flip the rear camera (this means you can install it upside down or rightside up if you want)

    Important things to note:
Running the dashcam requires a small amount of technical skill. Not much, since I am not super car savvy. However, if you want to setup the cameras in the best position possible you may have to get creative (I’ll talk more about this later). HOWEVER, if you want the rear camera to automatically turn on in reverse, you have to splice or crimp the red reverse line into your reverse lights. This requires the correct tools and know how, which I did not have. I had to get a mechanic friend of mine to install it. He also installed the rearview mirror on the outside of my vehicle, above the license plate. To do this, he had to drill a hole behind the rear lights, run the wire through there and then out with the license plate light. If you do this, make sure you don’t drill a large hole and then you weatherproof the hole with some sort of rubber, otherwise water will get in and rust out the car.
This dash cam functions as both a mirror and a dashcam. What I mean by this is that if the screen is off, it will act as a rear view mirror and you can see through the window behind you. If the screen is on, it will still show the rear view AS WELL as the footage on the camera. This can be a bit distracting, so what I do is I choose to put my Wolfbox in “Screen Saver” mode in the settings options. This turns off the camera while I am driving, but leaves on the nice features like direction and speed. My friend who also has this camera, instead chooses to just leave the camera on but have the rear view on all the time. Essentially he uses the camera instead of a mirror. One thing to note if you do this, is that cars will be closer than they look in the camera.
The manual is written with poor English grammar, and does not explain the features well. It requires some trial and error to figure everything out yourself.
Installing the rear camera in the recommended position above the license plate means that cars behind you shine their lights directly into the lens. This can make it hard to capture details of the car behind you at night.

    PROS:
    Lots of great features
Large screen with nice touch interface
    Clear picture
    Relatively easy to install
    Legal
    Easy to use
Option to use as a rear view mirror, or use the rear camera to see behind your vehicle.

    Cons:
    Poor grammar in manual
Hard to see license plates at night
The camera lens quality is good but not great, resulting in a picture that is useable but not as clear as I might like.

Overall my cons are mostly just nitpicks, and I think this is a fantastic camera. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone interested in installing their own dash cam.

A really cool feature they could add is Google maps functionality that displays google maps on the camera. That way I wouldn’t even need my phone anymore. But that would require adding some totally different programming, so it’s mostly just my own wish!

High quality dashcam with lots of convenient features!

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersNote: I have been informed that the hardware has changed since I posted this review. Please note that this is for the first gen G850.

I’ve had a few dashcams, but this is my first mirror dash cam. I was worried how this would work as a mirror replacement, but my concerns were unfounded. Even with the screen on, I can see either the content in the mirror or the content on the screen based on where my eyes focus. It works surprisingly well. With the screen off, the mirror functions satisfactorily also.

    Software/Functionality:
The UI is intuitive and easy to understand.
The camera properly switches to the rear when reversing, and switches the screen back on if it was off.
You can switch between cameras, and you can set a default view.
The screen has a timeout functionality which is disabled by default. You can have it fully turn off the screen, or have it enter a screensaver mode, which leaves the screen on; but only displays the direction and speed. I prefer to use the screensaver mode.
You can tap the power button once to shut the screen off. It will turn back on when reversing, by tapping the power button, or touching the screen.

    Cons:
There is no indicator on the camera that it is on if the screen is off. This makes it very easy to leave on and recording after you’ve shut the car off. This can be avoided by leaving the screen on or in screensaver mode, but that can make it a bit difficult to use the mirror part at night.

    Screen:
The screen is nice and clear and the screensaver mode is great (shows direction, speed, and time only).

Cons: The screen is a bit bright at night even in screen saver mode. An OLED screen would rectify this, but would likely increase the cost too much. There does not appear to be any auto-brightness adjustment, meaning the brightness must be manually adjusted based on the time of day.

    Camera:
The front camera provides 4K, 2.5K, and 2K video options. 4K video has slightly more detail than 2.5K, but only runs at 25 FPS. 2.5K will record at 30 FPS. For this reason, I prefer to use the 2.5K video option.
It is difficult to read license plates unless they are close and off to the side, likely due to distortion from the wide angle lens.
Video Quality is satisfactory at night.

Cons: 25 FPS for 4K recording.

    Rear Camera:
The rear camera records in 1080p video. It is difficult to read license plates, likely due to distortion from the wide angle lens.
The software supports installing the rear camera in different positions depending on your use case.

    Cabling:
Includes plenty of cabling for most cars. I was even able to run the power cable to my rear outlet.

Cons: Requires a dedicated outlet and the power adapter provides no extra USB ports. Will not even power off a USB PD port.

    GPS:
The GPS grabs satellites quickly and seems accurate.

Well-featured Dash Cam at an affordable price
