Body Revolution Olympic Weight Plates – Colour/Rubber

As a seasoned lifter, I was looking for an Olympic bar and plates to help stay in shape during the coronavirus lockdown. Having got a decent Olympic bar elsewhere, all I needed were some decent plates (e.g. 2x5kg, 2x10kg, 2x15kg, etc.) These do the job for a number of reasons:

1. From having used a range of plates in a range of gyms, these plates all appear to be evenly balanced – ‘what they say on the tin.’ This is important because especially when you’re lifting heavier, you don’t want one side of the bar heavier than the other and throwing you off-balance.

2. The rubber coating is solid and durable. Maybe a little oily from the off with treatment to preserve it, maybe, but that disappears with use. In using these weights at home, the rubber helps deaden any noise dropping the weights might make, helps protect surfaces around the home as well as the weights themselves, AND makes it easier to grip and carry the plates.

3. The black rubber finish also looks good.

4. Something else may be noteworthy: the internal ring that slips over the end of the barbell. I’ve seen cases previously where that ring may not be a good fit for a particular barbell, or may easily fall out of the plate. Neither look to be the case here.

All in all, these are damned good plates. If there’s any down side, I’d say it’s the cost – they’re expensive. But if your main concern is getting the best plates, especially for lifting at home, these are hard to beat.
